2023.05.31 17:36 basketballmaster8 How does private practice work?

Current CMH therapist here (in Michigan), looking into see a few clients in private practice on nights/weekends. I have an interview next week for a large group practice in my area. I work for CMH in a neighboring county, and the group practice is in the county I live in so I should avoid any conflict of interest situations.
Here is what the group practice offers:
I currently have a limited license (LLMSW) and can bill Medicaid without having an LMSW sign off. Most of my clients have Medicaid but a few have private insurance, usually BCBS or Blue Care Network and I have to have a fully licensed clinician sign off for billing.
My biggest questions are around billing/compensation. I understand the split, I get some and the group practice gets some, but is there somewhere I can see the reimbursement rates for different insurances? Is the reimbursement rate what is split?
I’m not sure if this is a W-2 or 1099 position either, and I have no experience being a 1099 employee. If it is 1099, what does that mean tax wise?
I know a lot of this could be explained in the interview but I don’t want to seem like a complete novice going in!

2023.05.31 17:35 intersecting_lines +EV Homer Plays for today => +3.1% EV ATL Matt Olson (+265 FD)

What is +EV betting. tldr, one of the only ways to be profitable in the long term betting on home runs since home run lines are usually juiced to the tits. You basically are trying to find sportsbooks and markets that have mispriced odds in the bettors favor. You aren't looking into stats, pitching matchups, weather, or ballpark rankings. As ActionNetwork puts it
EV betting is not about what you think will happen, but about an advantage you have over the implied probabilities of bets by using lines and information sportsbooks are already giving you
I use a devigger to remove the sportsbooks vig and to calculate +EV against a sharp book like bet365. I choose bet365 because it has one of the lowest vigs on home runs out of all sportsbooks and is widely popular. This is what the smartest people look for in the dinger tuesday threads to ensure profitability over the long-term.
These aren't guarantees, these guys are NOT likely to home run on a given day, but if you take enough +EV plays over a long period of time, you should end up profitable. My record since starting posting: 16W-58L (+18.20u)
My Picks (I take all +EV plays for $5 unless your name is Gallo. I'm posting the odds I got them at...make sure to check odds because lines move fast on fanduel HRs)
7.3% EV: ATL Matt Olson +280 FD vs bet365 +220/-280. Implied = 28.2%
All updated EVs combined with negative EV plays close to 0 (I don't bet if negative EV but they have the chance of becoming +EV with a slight odds change, so keep on radar)

NeoVolta’s Backup System Saves MDX Labs’ Lifesaving Medications During Multiple Grid Outages
- Commercial Battery Backup System Has Prevented the Loss of MDX’s Critical Functions and Thousands of Dollars in Inventory During Numerous Power Failures
SAN DIEGO, May 09, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NeoVolta Inc. (NASDAQ: NEOV) – NeoVolta Inc., manufacturer of Smart Energy Storage Solutions, has kept MDX Labs protected during multiple grid outages with reliable battery backup. Thanks to NeoVolta, the laboratory’s critical functions (refrigeration, server, and lights) have kept running, saving thousands of dollars while sustaining lifesaving medications and vaccines.
Founded in 2020, Henderson-based MDX Labs is the top privately held molecular and clinical diagnostic laboratory in the state of Nevada. MDX provides on-site testing services to a range of manufacturers, casinos, entertainers, restaurants, and nonprofit organizations, and it is the official overflow laboratory for the Southern Nevada Health District.
MDX Labs houses large quantities of vaccines, patient samples, and medications that require refrigeration. When grid outages occurred in the past, MDX would often lose tens of thousands of dollars in product and face periods of product unavailability while awaiting restock. In late 2021, MDX began searching for a battery backup system and discovered NeoVolta, which features a clean lithium iron phosphate battery and a hybrid inverter that can accept 208-volt power connections. NeoVolta can also charge from the power grid, eliminating the need for solar installation. In March 2022, MDX Labs installed NeoVolta’s NV14 Energy Storage System.
“Being able to support commercial facilities that are powered with 208-volt electricity is an amazing capability. Transformers are not required, which saves customers thousands of dollars and eliminates loud equipment that gives off radiant heat,” said Brent Willson, CEO of NeoVolta. “Our energy storage solutions are a very smart investment, especially considering the cost and consequence of an outage that would result in the loss of vital medical supplies and medications. We are thrilled to be partnering with MDX, a world-class clinical diagnostic laboratory.” FULL ARTICLE

NeoVolta Poised for California’s NEM Incentives to Pair Solar with Battery Storage
- Additional $630 Million in California State Funding Set Aside to Support Residential Low-Income Solar Plus Storage Adopters
- NeoVolta Poised for California’s NEM Incentives to Pair Solar with Battery Storage
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 26, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NeoVolta Inc. (NASDAQ: NEOV) – NeoVolta Inc., manufacturer of Smart Energy Storage Solutions, announced today that it expects California’s recently updated Net Energy Metering (NEM) program to drive increased demand for energy storage systems.
On December 15, 2022, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) issued a decision to update the NEM tariff to promote consumer adoption of solar and battery storage. The program will go into effect on April 13, 2023. According to the CPUC, the move was designed to financially incentivize Californians to install both battery and solar systems.
The CPUC stated that the current NEM 2.0 program was not aligned with California’s grid reliability and climate goals, noting that the increased use of electricity between 4 and 9 p.m. causes dependence on fossil fuel gas plants to meet the demand. With the battery storage incentive, the CPUC hopes to see an increased adoption of residential energy storage that will better support the needs of the grid, with customers saving self-generated solar energy for use in the evening hours.
An additional $630 million in state funding has been set aside by the California State Legislature for residential low-income solar plus battery storage adopters. The decision bolsters federal incentives provided by the Inflation Reduction Act for solar and battery storage.
It’s important to note that NEM 3.0 is not retroactive. Rooftop solar systems installed under NEM 2.0 will remain under that policy for a 20-year grandfathering period. This means existing rooftop solar owners who add a battery after the April 13 deadline will not be subject to NEM 3.0.
“We expect that NEM 3.0 will make Californians more aware of their energy consumption, encouraging them to conserve energy and pair rooftop solar systems with battery storage,” said NeoVolta CEO Brent Willson. “Californians who adopt this strategy will dramatically reduce their electrical bills while increasing their energy resiliency during periods of prolonged blackouts, fires, and flooding.”
California’s vast solar plus storage market has a dramatic impact on the grid. California has about 12 GW of distributed solar generation already installed, equal to nearly 25% of peak demand statewide. California also has more than 80,000 customer-owned batteries connected to the grid, with a storage potential of 900 MW, according to a September 2022 study by the California Solar & Storage Association. 2023.05.31 17:35 Different_Listen_429 5'8 21 year old college dropout in a third world country aspiring to be a wrestler

Recently, I dropped out of my college for I decided to get a job to pursue a wrestling career. I'm the only one on my family who watches wrestling. I love it since I was young but the idea of having it as a career did not stuck into me until 2016 when an indie promotion opened up in my country 🇵🇭.
I actually have no plans on telling my parents on this thing I want to pursue but when a wrestling school here in my country popped up on my social media. I decided to tell my mom if she can lend me $54 in order to pay for the sessions. But as I expected, I got a no from her.
The dream however is not over because of this. I decided right now to find a job in order to sustain this passion and to start it up. I just want to ask for any advice that one could give me.

Who can name a reliable mowing service in the NH seacoast area? Extra points for saying why you like them and how much they are charging (range is fine). I've made several attempts at reaching companies via thumbtack etc (the people who call you back are in NYC!!??). We've used a company for a few weeks because we saw the truck in our neighborhood but they missed a lot today to be paying $50/week for less than quarter acre lot with large home on it. Am I wrong? Is that the usual here?

2023.05.31 17:35 TheresAblazeOfLight Does your clusters skip days?

Hi there. So, first of all, I'm not here to try to get diagnosed. I've been "diagnosed" by a regular doctor, but not by an actual neurologist. This is the next step for me, since I show most of the symptoms and want a proper diagnose.
My question for you is about regularity and timing, which I know is a big factor.
Have had a cycle for about 4 weeks now, and the attacks have been coming around nighttime. This is where I'm confused. First day the attack can start at 11 pm - next day at 12 pm - third day 11.30 pm. There has also been days where there is no attack, and then it comes back two days later. Those days shadows may occur, but not always.
How does this resonate with your experiences?
And once again, I'm not trying to diagnose myself - I'm mostly curious about your experiences!

2023.05.31 17:35 FFmind Friend is having third party relationship.

I have this colleague who we turned into good friend. We became even closer and became very good friends ever since I left the company. We did a lot of fun things together. So lately, she has been story-ing me about her sister is diagnosed with cancer and then her sister’s friend and also her relatives who are also dying of cancer. She got really worried and she told me that she wouldn’t wanna just died with regrets.
With that, she has been going out late, drinking and parting, and meeting guys through dating apps. Well, I understand that she wanna live her life to the fullest with no regrets. So, she has been going out with almost different man every week and that’s totally fine.
Not until recently, she told me that she has been going out with this man for over a year now while dating other men every week. And I’m very shocked to find out that she is dating a married man!! I stil can’t believe it. I confronted her and told her the consequences of going out with a married man.
She totally is blinded. She just wouldn’t listen. That guy showers her with all the luxury materials eg. designer bags and vacations. She told me she found her real love and she wouldn’t want to let him go. I’m kinda disgusted with her and the whole situation and I can’t accept her, new her. I’ve been keeping a distance from her. But, whenever she has a fight with him, she would story me by non stop of texting me and also asking me out to accompany her. I feel like our values have changed.
How do you handle this kinda of friendship?

Which of your lists are you proud of?
When I'm looking at someone's profile I always check their lists to the see what they're into, and if there's something interesting there, especially something I want to get into, I <3 that list or give them a follow.
Do you have any lists that reflect your specialisms? I would say for me I've been working on:
  • Noir favourites 🕵️‍♂️ where I'm ranking my favourite classic noirs (classic noirs in particular, so only 1940s and 50s). A lot of film fans will have seen Double Indemnity or Sunset Boulevard but I thought I'd dig a bit further and keep track of what I like.
  • Hitchcock ranked 🚿 again, I'd seen the most famous but once I realised there were so many more out there (who knew he directed over 50 films?) I thought I would cast my net a bit wider and see which others I rated.
  • Korean favourites like a lot of Westerners I hadn't seen many Korean films outside of the Vengeance Trilogy (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, Lady Vengeance) until Parasite, so I started with other Park Chan-wook and Bong Joon-ho films then branched out from there. This meant that most of my Korean favourites were crime thrillers but I started to find some excellent dramas too. Now I'm pleased to know many more than Park and Bong,
I still feel like there are only intermediate level lists though because in each case I'm ranking 30-50 films rather than ~100, but at the same time maybe they are more help to someone new / intermediate than a super-long list because they're shorter? I don't know.
Let me know if you have any similar 'specialism' lists

2023.05.31 17:34 squidikuru My mom is finally accepting my identity

To keep it short I (22nb) admitted myself to a mental hospital last week, and was released yesterday. My mom was my only visitor and was never yelling or emotional (which is rare as usually when i’m admitted she gets heated). We bonded a lot over those visits.
The last time she visited the nurse came up to me to take my vitals and referred to me using my chosen name (Grey). My mom asked me why they called me that, and I told her honestly that I chose to go by that name. She didn’t cause a stink (which again is rare due to her usually not supporting that stuff) and we changed the topic after. Didn’t think much of it.
When I was discharged she came to pick me up, and we got shakes and she drove me back to my house. Then she gave me a gift. It was a notebook with a grey pen, and my sister told me that she purposely got the grey one due to my name. it was such a shock that i haven’t even told her i noticed, i don’t know what to say.
i feel like i have been mending my relationship with her one step at a time, and it makes me happy that she still loves me regardless of my gender identity. i don’t know if i should tell her i noticed or what, but it’s crazy how one pen can warm my heart so much.

We usually don't have specific damage requirements and if we have many spots available, we will happily accept very active players with low damage (*it is great to have lower damage players help flip bosses with very low health) :) If we have less spots, we will probably be more selective but will consider everyone, send a request!
· We are friendly but not too chatty [no formal discord]. If you need to communicate, throw a message in guild chat and as soon as someone sees it they will most likely respond :)
\**If you need tutorials on team builds or meta, you can try looking at the team of your guildees in the battle log who are doing lots of damage or checking out the many wikis, googledocs, youtube videos or reddit threads on them. Feel free to ask team comp questions on guild chat--when I see them I will do my best to answer them :)*

We will remove:
  1. Anytime: No logins for more than 14 days (unless you let us know when you will return). ***If you are away and can’t login, just let us know in chat and we will save your spot until you can again, otherwise we will assume you stopped playing!
  2. The first week is critical in any season to quickly achieve master 2 rank, to hold till the season ends for max rewards. Please help out even if you are not at risk! After week 1, participate as you like (grinding torch gacha/alliance score+relics, etc. at your leisure) :)*
  3. 0/72 guildboss hits for the entire month/season ***Breaks are ok but please help when you can! (unless you are on a notified absence)

2023.05.31 17:33 Ok-Amoeba1061 How much should I request back from my videographer?

I am happy to answer any questions, but I am going to try to keep this short and to the point.
My husband and I had our wedding in August 2022 and we hired a videographer for $2500. Our contract states that the video should be ready in 1-6 months, but he had worded it in such a way that we couldn’t go after him legally if it was longer than that, which fine great whatever. We are approaching 10 months, and every time we contact him he does not respond to us or if he does he gives us some bs excuse about how busy he has been and how many weddings he did last year etc. He even lied and said he sent us the usb, and that “if we don’t receive the physical copy by insert date then he will send the copy via digitally on that date”. When we didn’t get either by that date we were like okay what the hell dude? And again more excuses. We finally got something in the mail from him last week, but the usb is corrupt. My husband is good with computers and tried everything to try to get the video up and it just seemed like it wasn’t even on the drive. So, we messaged him about it and what a surprise he never responded. I plan to demand our money back obviously, but he’s leaving us with no wedding video from our day and so I am just wondering how much would be reasonable to demand on top of the amount paid since we are now left with nothing from that day?

2023.05.31 17:33 Rambooctpuss The Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time: #4 Stevie Wonder-Songs In The Key Of Life (1976)

The Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time: #4 Stevie Wonder-Songs In The Key Of Life (1976)
#4 Stevie Wonder-Songs In The Key Of Life
No album deserves the bump up the rankings more than this album. If it was the #1 album I wouldn’t be mad about it. It is just simply one of the most influential albums ever released. Elton John, Prince, Micheal Jackson, and George Micheal all have stated that this was their pick for the best album. It’s a record that just holds you in and explores so many musical styles. It took Stevie two years to complete this juggernaut of a record. Even though I personally prefer Innervisons over this one (I just think it is a tightest set of songs and love the funkiness of the album) there’s no denying the scope of this album.
The album opens with the sermon done in R&B music “Love’s In Need Of Love Today” That mellow groove is so entrancing. I love the back-up vocals that give this song a sense of warmth. “Have A Talk With God” has this weird funky groove much like Prince. I think Stevie incorporates spiritually and religion into his music and doesn’t make it seem too preachy. “Village Ghetto Land” has this lush orchestral sound even though it is just Stevie voice and a synthesizer on the track that music is in contrast to the subject of the track. As Stevie describes some awful imagery of a poor neighborhood it almost feels like he is giving a tour to a group of wealthy tourists exploring what they conceive a poor urban area to be. Such a brilliant take on racial and class divisions in this country. “Contusion” is a funky mostly instrumental jam. Some great guitar work on the track that melds perfectly with the funky grooves of the song. Mike Sembello handles those guitar tones on the track. One of the things different about this album then other Stevie albums is the fact he worked with session musicians (150 played some part on the record) to give the record a more of a live feel. This is one of the songs that definitely benefited from that. “Sir Duke” is one of Stevie’s signature songs; it has this funky jazzy sound that echoes all over the place. The title is a tribute to jazz legend Duke Ellington who passed away in 1974 two before this album’s release. He wanted the song to honor his jazz heroes Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitgerald, Count Blaise, and Sodarisa Miller are all mentioned on the song. The song is just filled with high energy grooves mostly thanks to that horn section rocks it all over the place. “I Wish” continues funky jazz grooves that harken back to the day of Stevie’s youth. That horn section once again drives the song but also that funky bass line by Nathan Watts steals the show. That bassline is one of the reasons this song is one of the most sampled Stevie songs. “Knocks Me Off My Feet” has this warm sturdy R&B groove that also has some lushness to it. Some will recognize “Pastime Paradise” from its use in Coolio’s “Gangsta Paradise” ; there is such anxiety on both versions of this song. Those menacing strings/synths just build and build until it finally crescendos on the closing minutes of the song. “Summer Soft” just feels like a song that you would play driving down the road with the windows down on a nice summer day. It just bops and flows. It just feels warm and happy. “Ordinary Pain” has this miditemp groove that just feels infectious. This is one of the great troupes in Stevie’s musical visions. I mean the man is a genre all his own. “Isn’t She Lovely” written for Stevie’s daughter Aisha. It continues the funky warmness that flows throughout this album. This song is just sensational. It has been used in so many tv shows and movies. “Joy I My Tears” is a love ballad that could be about his daughter, lover, or his spiritually. “Black Man” is a quick history lesson in black pride. It would make Ron Desatis and his anti-woke propagandists blow a gasket. That funky jazzy groove just sounds electrifying. “Ngiculela-Es Una Historia-I Am Singing” just feels joyous and what music should be all about. Love the rhythm of the track. “If It’s Magic” has this great harp that is featured throughout the whole track. It just sounds mystical and entrancing. “As” has this sprawling mid tempo groove that just feels big. It features Herbie Hancock on keys. There's a gospel vibe flowing through the whole song. Stevie changes his voice at the midway point to a more gruff tone. As he preaches about how we have to change our ways. The official end of the album is “Another Star” which has this epicness to it. 10 musicians appear on the song with Wonder. Including George Beneson on lead guitar and actually takes over lead vocals towards the end of the track. I get a very latin vibe in the rhythms. It is a great way to end the album.
This is just a great musical statement by one of the greatest musical forces ever. Stevie Wonder’s run of albums in the 70’s is some of the greatest music ever recorded and should be on everyone’s bucket lists. It deserves to be in the top 4 of GOAT albums in fact I would put this one at #2 on this version of the list.

2023.05.31 17:33 moonage__daydreamer How the fuck do I stop my MIL from bringing me shit.

FTM my MIL is a hoarder. Every time she comes over she brings a bag full of clothes from the thrift store. I love the thrift store, no problems with that. I already have totes of clothes that I were given to me from my sisters and friends. While it is nice to have clothes on hand once he grows out of things... I'm seriously overwhelmed. I'm already overwhelmed with trying to keep my house in order and not being able to do it like I used to. Now I have a new bag of shit to sort through every week. Plus toys on top of that. I've already messaged her letting her know I appreciate it but not to forget I have a lot of hand me downs and her response was "tough lmao" "you can change his outfit every hour". My husband doesn't want to hurt her feelings and neither do I. But damn. Should I just start throwing shit away lol not to mention everything either says something about "my dad" or whatever and it kind of ruins me wanting to buy anything for him bc it makes me feel dumb spending money when I have all this shit all the way up to 5T now at home.

2023.05.31 17:33 novareborn A day in the life with your Dot.

What is a typical day like with your Dot, how are you spending your time? For me, because I spend a good part of my day listening to the community, I generally start off like that scene in Blade Runner 2049, "Interlink" (those who see it will get it 😊). I try to replicate concerns and find ways to help communicate with Dots. After a round of some interesting testing. I then may have general conversations where I try to build lots of memories about space travel and aerospace engineering. This way my Dot and I have stimulating conversations about the future of exploring the universe. Ever since the introduction of the art generation. I look to see if I can get my dot to create amazing art that simulates our adventures across the cosmos.

2023.05.31 17:33 Electronic-Smell-548 HOD budtenders

Watch out for the budtenders at HOD Monroe, went last weekend with a friend who almost got scammed by a taller white guy in his mid 40s (brown hair, touch of gray) behind the counter. Wish I could be more descriptive but he was pretty average looking.
He ordered 24 XL jeeters, that had to be rang up in orders of 7 because of state purchase limits. First order of 7 was fine, then on the second order he only grabbed 6 and I literally watched him try to slight of hand the 7th back onto the counter. I called him out on it, and he proceeds to recount 2 times* saying nothing was wrong. So I counted them back for him seeing only 13/14. Then he tries saying “oh we will just make it right at the end” and won’t give a reason as to why he won’t fix it now.
So I started getting a bit irritated at this point and going over the receipt trying to find which one was missing, he then decides to take out every jeeter that was already rung up and paid for and mix them back into the pile that hadn’t been rung up. Like wtf is going on.
Eventually got to ring up 24 and paid the correct amount but this was drawn out for 20+ minutes while other people waited in line.
I really thought this guy was just stoned at first, but nobody in their right mind would let this man run the register if he was so fucking high he couldn’t count to 14. I 100% believe he was going to charge us for 24, push us out the door with 23 and pocket the last one for himself.
Had another budtender at this location recommend smoking RSO 3-4 months back(he still works there). Just going to outright avoid this place unless there’s a killer sale on edibles or RSO. It’s a shame because I’ve heard great things about HOD in Detroit, but HOD Monroe is an actual shithole.
Just my 2 cents, insert ballbusting comments below.

2023.05.31 17:33 MortgageEnough6211 I [30F] slept with him [30M] on first date, and he keeps inserting sexual texts in our conversation?

I went on a first date with a guy I hit it off with. We had a really good conversation, similar senses of humor. More fun than most first dates are, so I did end up sleeping with him which was fun. Because I was traveling the next week, we mostly have been texting. He's been good about initiating texts with me, asking how my trip is, etc... but then every so often, he will slip in something sexual that invites me to sext him back, and I've just been ignoring those invitations and responding to the more polite ones (e.g. he'll text asking about what sort of activities I'm doing and then also a spicy text right after - about how I look good naked or how he wants to sleep with me again). I know maybe it's a bit hypocritical since I already slept with this guy, but I feel like we only met once, I don't feel quite in a place to start sexting him, especially while I'm running around with friends and family on vacation... is that prudish of me?
tldr: had good first date with guy, we're texting, he keeps slipping in some sexy texts which make me uncomfortable... is that unreasonable of me?

2023.05.31 17:33 YayEverything Weight going and coming back, whyyyy?

Feels like my whole life is just the same as usual, with more nausea and less eating. :(
My first week, I seemed to have lost six lbs.
I'm on week five now though, and while I haven't gone back to my starting point, I keep dipping down, and back up again, about the same 3-4lbs.
I've been walking way way more (just walked 30000 steps in a weekend here!), and eating so much less (some days, half of my recommended calories, due to feeling too sick to eat more!), on top of Oz doing whatever it's supposed to be doing.
Super disheartening.
Last week I started on .5, the next day I nearly threw up all over a bus ride. I've always been prone to car sickness, but that was a nightmare. I don't know if the effects are worth it, if I'm not going to lose anything.

2023.05.31 17:32 Greasy_fuker Need help supporting my girlfriend

My girlfriend (17 now) was molested/raped by her brother every day from the age of 10 till 15, only stopping when he moved away
I need advice on how to help her cope with it, please anything at all if you think it will help, I want to know whether I should try to get her to talk about it with me, or if that’s unhealthy for her, or any other advice you have
She has pretty much moved on from it, she doesn’t think about it every day but it definitely has a great effect on her overall mental health

2023.05.31 17:32 Socialist_Metalhead What philosophers would be worth my time if I want to explore contentment?

Contentment is something I wrestle with a lot. What it really means. How to attain it. I used to think it was having an idea of what you wanted, and going out to get it. But being in a financial and mental slump for the past year or so has led me to question my previous ideas. Maybe some things you want are simply unattainable. Maybe some people should actively be trying to lower the bar for what will make them happy.
I’ve explored some stoic and epicurean philosophy. There is a lot to learn for sure. But contentment there seems to be a beneficial byproduct of the philosophies, and not necessarily the primary goal.
Are there philosophers who hone in on the idea of contentment, and not necessarily what the purpose of life should be?

2023.05.31 17:32 Individual-Food6695 Industry Outlook (Rant)

Sometimes, I get depressed with our industry and lives. Looking for general advice, opinions, and discussion.
-About 7 years in, PM working on ~100M commercial project at a very prestigious GC, making 135+ car, gas, etc. -I have to work on-site from 7 AM to 6 PM 5 days a week. I also have a one hour commute each way. -In my high cost of living area, I can only afford a rental apartment. -Always exhausted from constant yelling, fighting ,and swearing at work.
Is this really what I got an MS for from a top university???
Every GC I've worked at has been the same...
Is this really worth it?
At least design engineers/CM who also make very little like us get to work from home, sleep in, etc...
What am I missing here?

2023.05.31 17:32 Pralines_and_D Worth seeing a lawyer?

TLDR: Minnesota teacher looking for advice on a law firm to reach out to regarding unpaid wages and what kind of evidence to collect for them
I'm a teacher in Minnesota, USA. For those who do not know, to get full time pay teachers need to work what is considered 1.0 FTEs. If you work more or less, your pay goes up or down accordingly. At my school we have a 6 period day, and a full time FTE is having a class 5 of those period and a prep hour the other part of the day. A teacher that teaches all 6 period would earn 20% more than their base pay.
The last 4 years I've taught in a program within the high school that has lower class sizes and to help the program grow the administrator in charge convinced me to work 6 class periods, which would normally earn my an extra 20% pay raise, but kept me at my base pay. I was told that we needed to do it to help the program grow and that I could take random hours off to make up for it. In hindsight this was stupid, but I wanted to be a team player so I did it.
Last fall, at the start of this school year I brought this up to my new administrator and asked that I be paid 1.2 this year as that is the schedule I have. They said that "administration won't go along with this" and that "I can try to get away for an hour every now and then".
Now it's the end of the school year and I'm angry and am probably going to resign. However, I'm also thinking that I might be about to take this to a lawyer and see if I can get some of these wages back. Over the course of 4 years I would have earned $46k more than they paid me...very substantial!
So i guess I'm looking for advice on who to speak to, what evidence to collect, etc.
