2023.05.31 18:16 birds_eye__view Neighbor keeps blowing airhorns at my dog
Hi this is my first post and I'm not great at spelling so sorry for any mistakes.
I have a old Labrador who is getting very grumpy lately. I would also like to say our neighborhood does have quiet hours but we have never had any loud noises during the quiet hours. Our dog barks while outside sometimes and we do bring him in or go out with him most times. Two times though we have been dealing with other things and he barked for maybe a minute or so. The neighbors behind us apparently decided this was too much barking, even though the other dogs and his past dog barked for hours and hours. He started to blow air horns which upset the other neighborhood dogs and made mine start to bark more. When I heard the air horn at first I was confused and thought it unrelated to my dog, the second time (today) I realized it was definitely cause of my dog. Now I had been doing laundry and he had started barking a little after I brought him water to drink before he was allowed back in. ( he makes a huge mess) I already have to deal with the shitty neighbor on my right and I yelled at him asking what his problem was before closing the door and bringing my dog in. This is not the first time my neighbors and their children have bothered my dog and it's been really frustrating to deal with. Does anyone know what to do? My dog does not bark that often and it's often cause the neighbor's children mess with him.
Tldr: the neighbor is blasting an air horn at my dog for even barking a little bit. How can I get my neighbors to leave my dog alone?

2023.05.31 18:15 GrandAcademic3082 Possible misconceptions about sex and men
My husband (27M) and I (29F) have been together for 5 years and married for 3 months. We are each others firsts for literally everything (yes, we are late bloomers). Because of this, combined with both of our social anxieties, we took things VERY slow in our relationship. We had sex for the first time about 9 months into our relationship. Since then, sex has been consistent.
Since he is the only guy I've ever been with, I don't know what's "normal". My only comparison is what I see on TV and in movies (and some things I read online). I am under the impression that men want sex all day everyday, and if they don't then there is something "wrong" with them (like low testosterone). In the media, sex is always super hot where the women gets thrown up against a wall, etc.
Our sex life isn't like that. But it's still good. We have the same sex drive, which is great. But also makes me wonder whether he has low test or something. Or doesn't find me attractive. We have sex consistently 2-3 times a week. We recently discussed our sex preferences and he said a few times a week is what he prefers. He said he probably wouldn't be able to do it everyday. I know that he does sometimes watch porn (and I am completely OK with that). But this contrasts everything I've heard before - about guys wanting sex ALL THE TIME. But maybe I have a misconception.
Our sex is good. It's slow and passionate (as opposed to hot and fast like on TV).
Is my husband "normal" or could there be something else going on? Do I have crazy misconceptions?

2023.05.31 18:15 agathouu « What are your pronouns ?* »
Hi, first to introduce myself, my name's Agathe, I'm 19 and live in Europe
Every time someone asks me
that question*, I'm like « I don't know, wait a minute » but every time I have to reply quickly and I say either « she » either « she and they » depend if I'm comfortable with the person about that or not. The thing is, I'd like to be clear with my pronouns, I want to be clear about my identity. I like the idea of being gendered in neutral. Am I non-binary?
On the other hand I like my name, I'm comfortable with the fact being considered as a girl, I'm not questioning my AGAB. In our binary society I'm a woman, I've got no problem with that. But in some places – mostly queer places – where people don't really care about gender, I'm not a female nor a man. On the gender spectrum I think I perceive myself as non-binary but in our society, with people who aren't familiar with the LGBT community, I perceive myself as a woman and I'm okay with that.
Monique Wittig said in
The Straight Mind that lesbians aren't women, given they refuse the woman's place in a heterosexual couple; Is the non-binary community bound to the lesbian community?
In conclusion I'd like to experiment more with « they/them » pronouns and I made this post to ask for your opinions and/or advices about what I feel, I wanted to share my thoughts and I think it's the right place so feel free to comment and thank you for reading me! Also, if you could write some random sentences about me in neutral you'd be an angel

Production companies : Warner Bros. Pictures.
At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had other people raising eyebrows when he said that his long-awaited superhero debut in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse would be the beginning of “a new era” for the DC Extended Universe naturally followed: What did he mean? And what would that kind of reset mean for the remainder of DCEU's roster, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the rest of the Justice League, Suicide Squad, Shazam and so
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse neared theaters, though, Johnson clarified that statement in a recent sit-down with Yahoo Entertainment (watch above).
“I feel like this is our opportunity now to expand the DC Universe and what we have in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which I think is really cool just as a fan, is we introduce five new superheroes to the world,” Johnson tells us. Aldis Hodge's Hawkman, Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate, who together comprise the Justice Society.) “One anti-hero.” (That would be DJ's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.)
“And what an opportunity. The Justice Society pre-dated the Justice League. So opportunity, expand out the universe, in my mind… all these characters interact. That's why you see in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, we acknowledge everyone: Batman , Superman , Wonder Woman, Flash, we acknowledge everybo****here's also some Easter eggs in there, that's what I meant by the resetting. Maybe resetting' wasn't a good term.only
In addition to being Johnson's DC Universe debut, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” is also notable for marking the return of Henry Cavill's Superman. The cameo is likely to set up future showdowns between the two characters, but Hodge was completely unaware of it until he saw the film.

Is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Available On Hulu?
Viewers are saying that they want to view the new TV show Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free ****odes of this series streaming at this time. the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.
Is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Streaming on Disney Plus?
Unfortunately, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is not currently available to stream on Disney Plus and it's not expected that the film will release on Disney Plus until late December at the absolute earliest.
While Disney eventually releases its various studios' films on Disney Plus for subscribers to watch via its streaming platform, most major releases don't arrive on Disney Plus until at least 45-60 days after the film's theatrical release.
The sequel opened to $150 million internationally, which Disney reports is 4% ahead of the first film when comparing like for likes at current exchange rates. Overall, the global cume comes to $330 million. Can it become the year's third film to make it past $1 billion worldwide despite China and Russia, which made up around $124 million of the first film's $682 million international box office, being out of play? It may be tough, but it's not impossible. Legging out past $500 million is plausible on the domestic front (that would be a multiplier of at least 2.7), and another $500 million abroad would be a drop of around $58 million from the original after excluding the two MIA markets. It'd be another story if audiences didn't love the film, but the positive reception suggests that Wakanda Forever will outperform the legs on this year's earlier MCU titles (Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder had multipliers of 2.2 and 2.3 respectively).
As for the rest of the box office, there's little to get excited about, with nothing else grossing above $10 million as Hollywood shied away from releasing anything significant not just this weekend but also over the previous two weekends. When Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse opened in 2018, there was no counterprogramming that opened the same weekend, but Peter Rabbit and Fifty Shades Freed were in their second weekends and took second and third with $17.5 million and $17.3 million respectively. That weekend had an overall cume of $287 million compared to $208 million this weekend Take away the $22 million gap between the two Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse films and there's still a $57 million gap between the two weekends. The difference may not feel that large when a mega blockbuster is propping up the grosses, but the contrast is harsher when the mid-level films are the entire box office as we saw in recent months.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which is the biggest grosser of the rough post-summer, pre-Wakanda Forever season, came in second with just $8.6 million. Despite the blockbuster competition that arrived in its fourth weekend, the numbers didn't totally collapse, dropping 53 % for a cume of $151 million. Worldwide it is at $352 million, which isn't a great cume as the grosses start to wind down considering its $200 million budget. Still, it's the biggest of any film since Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, though Wakanda Forever will overtake it any day now.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse came in third place in its fourth weekend, down 29% with $6.1 million, emerging as one of the season's most durable grossers and one of the year's few bright spots when it comes to films for adults. The domestic cume is $56.5 million Fourth place went to Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, which had a negligible drop of 5% for a $3.2 million sixth weekend and $40.8 million cume., in fact )
, which isn't surprising considering it's the only family film on the market, and it's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to grossing four times its $11.4 million opening. Still, the $72.6 million worldwide cume is soft given the $50 million budget , though a number of international markets have yet to open.
Finishing up the top five is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which had its biggest weekend drop yet, falling 42% for a $2.3 million seventh weekend. Of course, that's no reason to frown for the horror film, which has a domestic cume of $103 million and global cume of $ 210 million from a budget of just $20 million.

2023.05.31 18:15 cinmarcat Kids Can Be Mean
Here is another vent!
Tomorrow is the last day of school and these kids are off the wall but that’s no excuse for disrespect.
I was made aware by two students that three students were saying inappropriate things about me. Things I do not feel comfortable repeating but they mentioned my weight. That I take personally not just because of my body type but I gained weight due to medical reasons. I know I shouldn’t care what a bunch of elementary kids think but it still hurts. They don’t know nor should they know what I went through medically.
Then the same three threw books at each other after specials while cleaning. One student told me to call their mom cause “she doesn’t care.”
This is just a vent. Most of my students think I’m great! And these three are constant issues.
And no I can’t report it because I didn’t hear it myself. Hopefully I’ll be at another school next year closer to where I live.
Thanks for listening!

2023.05.31 18:14 Hoo_Who Reddit Dog Training Experts - I'm in Over My Head
Hi there – I have been following this sub for a few months trying to pick up tidbits along the way, but I feel I desperately need help. Apologies in advance for the long post.
I’ll preface by saying I have a dog. A Bull Terrier I rescued through an organization 6 years ago. He’s now 10, and he is my heart and soul. He’s sweet and gentle…stoic!
I recently volunteered to foster another Bull Terrier in desperate need, Buddy. Buddy has a lot of health issues (he has Valley Fever which has made him blind) and was neglected his whole life. I’ve had him for two and a half months.
Because of his blindness, Buddy gets twigged out in new situations. He barks and growls, and he definitely sounds and looks intimidating. I keep Buddy and my dog completely separate as Buddy tries to attack my dog (he did get him once, so it’s not an empty threat).
The rescue is aware of and working on getting Buddy a new place, as my home has been very disrupted. Neither Buddy nor my dog is living their best lives – they are both very stressed.
With that said, I want Buddy’s placement to have the best chance possible. I’m patient, and I’m willing to put in work while I do have him. I was hoping that a bit of consistency would calm Buddy down. I take him on 2 walks a day in a neighborhood that is VERY dog friendly. Buddy is very reactive to other dogs and people, so we have to zigzag all over the place to avoid others.
However, there are days/times where Buddy is completely chill when we pass others. He’s so inconsistent and unpredictable. Today, one neighbor said hello. She and Buddy have interacted many times and he’s been great. This morning, he was fine at first then randomly started barking and growling at her.
In spending some time in this sub, I’ve started incorporating positive reinforcement with treats while we are on our walks. He’s usually receptive though not always.
I understand that things are still new. I understand that his blindness adds a layer. But it just feels like as time goes on, his behavior is getting worse. He recently has started jumping up on me and other people – something he’s never done before. He’s getting even more aggressive toward my dog.
When it’s just one-on-one time with Buddy, he is the sweetest, silliest dog I’ve ever met. I love on him, he gives me kisses on my face, we snuggle, and you can tell he is in pure bliss.
I’ve never trained a dog. I feel out of my element, but I also feel determined to help this poor pup. Is he just a dog that can’t ever interact with other people or animals? Appreciate any insight and help.

2023.05.31 18:14 Sprollie Advice for my friend F20 with invasive parents M45 F45?
My friends (F20) parents, especially her mom are extremely over protective, tracking her locarion, bank account etc and calling/texting constantly when she's not at home. It's gotten to the point my friend is genuinely getting depressed by this, and anxious to where abouts she goes, trying to not go out of bounds.
She has a car since she got a full license a couple months ago, with one of those apple tracker thingies and she's not allowed to go outside our small town. Even though we had to travel to another town for college, she had to take the bus/train cause she's not allowed to drive outside our town (she actually did it for the last 2 weeks of college without her parents finding out, after she hit a minor breaking point and went against them).
It got even worst after 3 days ago, in an excited impulse we decided to travel to a city about an hour and half away to go bowling in the evening. I was surprised she's actually going to travel that far but she was super excited and serious, saying she's home alone anyways (turns out later her parents got home much earlier). We were 3 minutes away from our destination then her mom suddenly called, my friend got a little worried. Her mom immediately sounded suspicious asking what she is doing, specifically where she is, what time she'll be home etc my friend started to panic and I was just mouthing a location in our town so she repeats it. Her mom didnt sound convinced and asked her to come home soon.
Not long later her dad calls and asks the same, saying that on his tracker app it's coming up she's in that city. Now my friend went into a full panic attack, trying to tell her dad it must be a glitch, why would she go to that city at this time (it was past 9pm when they called) etc, her parents asked her to come home immediately, she froze while crying looking at me as to what to say, I mouthed and nodded "ok", which she repeated and hung up. The panic got worst because she knew she cant make it home quickly, we we're an hour and a half away from her home. We had to pull over just so she can calm down, but she rang her mom and just told her the truth. Her mom just kept saying how she's so worried and how the road is so dangerous and it'll be dark soon but she needs her to calm down cause she can't drive in distress, assured her she only wants her to get home safely and once she does they wont talk about the whole situation everyone can forget about it. She also kept asking who else is in the car with us multiple times even though my friend kept saying it's just us two?? Either way my friend only has one other friend who was away, her mom knew that. It was the whole I'm not mad, I'm disappointed talk. But that was just because she knew I was there.
She told me the next day that wasn't the case, she got a whole talking to, her mom told other family members about it, who knows what else and got stricter 'protecting'. Also her mom tracked her through find my iPhone before even calling her so she already knew where we were when she called her. She now has to check in with her mom before she does anything, today we went for a walk, and after we wanted to get food somewhere she had to come home to ASK FOR PERMISSION!! Her mom was about to say no until she saw me by the door, she was not happy about it at all though.
I'd love to be able to help her some way or give her advice but all I can really do right now is be there to listen to her. But I can see its getting to her more and more, I can see how more anxious she is getting, and she's terrified to disobey them now. She'd love to move out but she unfortunately can't afford it yet. She feels she's only going to end up going no contact with them when she'll be able to move out, but she's stuck at home for now. She's a great driver and has never done anything dumb like drugs/drinking/not coming home till late night etc that would cause her mom to not trust her the way she does. She's simply the youngest child, the other 2 don't live at home anymore.
Sorry for the massive rant style and messy post. I'll appreciate any advice/comments!
TLDR: Friend's parents are extremely protective and invasive
Lenght of relationship: 20 years (I had to put this in or it wouldn't let me post)

2023.05.31 18:14 rumpusrouser What do I do about a girl who always tells me my daughter is not playing nice?
I realize my title sounds like my daughter can do no evil but hear me out. My daughter (4) has just made friends with a girl (6). She lives across the street and they play almost every night. I always sit near and watch them, since my daughter is still so young I want to make sure she isn’t stealing toys/throwing fits/etc. The 6 year olds mom also sits outside and we chat. However, at least 3 or 4 times a night the 6 year old will come tell me my daughter is being mean. She will tell me “she’s not playing the game right” or “She won’t let me ride her scooter” or one time it was “she asked for candy even though I said it was mine.” To be clear if my daughter was honestly not playing nice I would be the first one to correct her, that’s why I’m outside in the first place. But like the 6 year old locked my daughter in a dog kennel last night, my daughter cried and she didn’t let her out until I said, “She is telling you she doesn’t like this, let her out.” (Her mom had stepped into the house at this point.) Last night another girl (5) was playing with them and even she went up to the 6 year old’s mom and said “6 year old isn’t being nice to 4 year old” But the mom didn’t really do anything. It’s not really an option for me to not let them play because they live so close. They are always outside and my 4 year old really wants to play with the 6 year old. The 6 year old is even the one who always asks my daughter to come play. I had a long talk with my 4 year old about how if someone is being mean to her she needs to come tell me and we will go do something else fun. I have thought about the next time the 6 year old tells me my daughter is being mean, telling her, “I’m sorry that’s happening, should me and 4 year old go inside and take our toys with us?” Because we are the ones with the scooters, chalk, and sandbox. But if she said “yes” that’s just punishing my 4 year old. How would you handle this situation? Am I overblowing it? I am just so tired of her being a jerk to my kid.

2023.05.31 18:14 bubblegum_yum_yum Updates & Question re: Bridezilla encounters & creative writing
First and foremost, THANK YOU TO THIS COMMUNITY!!!! Without y’all, I’d have lost my damn mind these past few weeks/months dealing with wedding drama. This sub has some wonderfully amazing and very kind people on it!!
Second, I am wrapping up my master’s degree in journalism and one of the requirements of my program is to take a creative writing course. I’ve done the odd creative writing exercise in some of my other classes & the techniques really do help you to improve the way you approach details, sentence structure, and use of descriptive vocabulary to maintain the reader’s attention. It’s actually been helpful since news writing can easily become bland and boring.
However, I am absolutely NOT a fiction writer!!! Some of my instructors and classmates have written fiction books, but I loathe even writing short stories. It is a craft I’ve never been drawn to, hence why I’m taking it over my final summer session (since summer classes are condensed and shorter in duration 😆) Anyway, I had my first class this morning and though it was mainly introductions & going over the syllabus, the instructor told us to think of an event in our lives that we can turn into a story by the end of the course and to come to the next class with a short description of our chosen inspiration.
My mind immediately jumped to the string of wedding drama I’ve experienced these past few months. I know that the pinned post on this sub is that this isn’t a creative writing space and I presume that means stories should be factual… but what about the opposite?? Can you turn real events into creative writing stories?? I asked my partner for his thoughts on using my recent wedding experience, especially the debacle with my friend who wants the $30k venue in NYC, and his response is that the situation is already so extra and over the top that it could write itself without any needed creative writing input 🤣 I agreed & we had a good laugh about how absurd my wedding experiences have been, which was great… except I still need a life experience to propose (pun intended) for my creative writing class. I thought that I might ask y’all - I feel like there just needs to be an anthology of the most asinine bridezilla stories (no creative writing influence needed) but
could a bridezilla story be the basis for a creative writing piece??? As I said, I can write news, interviews & non-fiction all day long, but I
cannot craft character development and plot lines… but this class is mandatory & it’s the only thing standing between me and my master’s. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas??? I’m desperate!
- Which brings me to updates…
Here’s one update about the wedding without invitations:
OG post about recent wedding drama of mine. My partner and I congratulated the couple and reiterated our compromise proposals, but ultimately haven’t spoken to the newlywed couple in a few weeks and have decided we don’t really want to after this. We haven’t sent a gift as we’d normally do, and we’re likely just going to let our relationship with the couple fizzle. From a mutual friend, we heard that there were about 50 people at the wedding, mostly family members, and only 3 friends. He said it was a pretty boring wedding and he left as soon as it felt appropriate to do so. He assured us we didn’t miss anything by not attending 😂 But it’s good to know that only 3 friends of the couple attended - let’s us know that we weren’t the only ones who failed to use our telepathic powers to learn the wedding date/time.
The situation with the venue has been emotionally and mentally draining AF! My friend (the bride) is still hellbent on this venue in NYC & put down a deposit of $8,000 that’s non-refundable. So if she can’t come up with the remaining amount, she’ll be SOL and to me that’s A LOT of money to put on the line. The venue does have these stunning gardens which my friend seems to like so much that she sent us proposed bridesmaid dresses that have colorful floral embroidery… on otherwise sheer fabric 🫣 The dresses aren’t that expensive, IIRC off the top of my head they’re under $100, but another bridesmaid asked about undergarments and wearing slips beneath the dresses & suggested we each wear a different colored slip for added pops of color (which I think would actually be really pretty) but the bride didn’t go for it and said she’d “think about it” (it = the use of undergarments for appropriate coverage)
For that wedding, it seems like one bridesmaid has either dropped out or is on the verge of dropping out. And our group chat went silent until the dress discussion, so most of the bridal party is tired of the dramatics over the venue and IMO checked out (at least I am - I’ve barely kept up with the group because it’s exhausting)

2023.05.31 18:14 MrPepin0 My girl cheated on me early in our relationship says she would never do it again
This Monday while I was sleeping with my girl at her house a man came to her house which I’ve seen before to sell them a car but I noticed that my girl was out talking to him for about 10 min so I got a bit suspicious when she came back in I was a little jealous but didn’t think too much of it. Then I heard the man talk through the window that she needed to tell me the truth. That caught me off guard and I asked my girl what was going on and she said nothing. So I got up to try to go talk to the guy but my girl was holding me down. The guy ended up leaving and me and my girl went out to talk about it and it all seemed fine she told me that was her last boyfriend but nothing had happened while we were together and that he was there to damage our relationship apparently he saw her profile pic with me and got jealous. Now yesterday I’m talking to her and I ask her to tell me the truth and she confessed to sleeping with him 3 days into our relationship but promises that was the only time and that she did it because she thought we wouldn’t last long but that now she sees that she loves me and doesn’t want to lose me. We talked it out again today this morning and I told her it was ok we slept together too but after that I felt a little awkward with her and left after we were done I’m not sure if I should stay with her or end the relationship I loved her and was thinking about staying with her for a long time but now I don’t know what’s the right option. 3 days in is not too long so I don’t know how to feel about it would appreciate any advice. Do I forgive her
TLDR: My girlfriend cheated on me 3 days into our relationship but promises that it won’t happen again and that she loves me we had sex after and I still felt awkward with her I want to forgive her but I’m not sure if that’s the right choice.

2023.05.31 18:13 TheFeistyFox [Thank You] choo-choo, the mail train is here!
u/monetmonkey 2x Thanks for the card from the Mail Train and thanks for the Barbican Centre card - I don't think I've been there, so I'm definitely putting this on my to-see list for when I return to London some day! The idea of using the washi stickers as a washi so that I can reuse them is genius! Where do you get those washi sticker rolls? (Don't say AliExpress because they don't ship here anymore!)
u/jane_q Thanks for the illustrated cat postcard and making up a story about her! I think your backstory is lovely and definitely matches the image!
u/thecaledonianrose Thanks for telling me about how you got into penpalling! I also met some of my penpals at camps or when I did internships abroad. I'll write back!
u/korewrites 2x Thanks for the card with your new address on it, and thanks for the creepy crawlies card! You reminded me to look up a moth I saw on one of my plants yesterday that I have never seen before! I didn't move that far but it seems like the plants and animals are all different here from where I lived before! I hope your new library has a great selection of books! I'm always too slow to read books from the library and then they are returned automatically and I have to wait a couple of weeks until I can borrow them again, so I'm mostly downloading whole books now.

2023.05.31 18:13 needhelpfr23 I’m afraid my bf has been lying to me
I wanna start off by saying that we’re not technically dating at the moment, I just don’t know what else to call him bc it’s so complicated. He’s my roommate, we dated for a few months and he broke up w me bc I did something dumb. He keeps saying he just wants to be friends but we act like we’re back in our relationship. For example, we sleep in the same bed again, we go out everywhere together, we still get really jealous of other people. I’ve made previous posts related to this, so if you need any more information it’s on my page.
So, I’m the one that messed up in the first place, I know that. I’ve been so afraid that he’s been trying to get revenge or something, even though he said he wouldn’t do that. There’s this girl he knows online and he talks to her all the time. I’ve told him several times that them talking so much makes me a bit uncomfortable. I only started to bring it up after he made me stop talking to a good friend of mine. I listened to him and stopped talking to everyone he wanted me to, but it’s not fair to me that he gets to talk to whoever, but I have to get permission from him to talk to anyone without him. He constantly defends this girl, no matter what I have to say. He talks to her every single day. And he lies about it !!!!!! He’s still texting her. He still goes live w her. They have matching emojis in one of their online profiles like what ?!?!?!?! But me having ONE guy friend is not okay. But listen to the excuse lol. He said he doesn’t like me having guy friends bc he knows how guys are and single men have no respect for relationships and will do anything for 😸. True. BUT women are the same way and I tried to explain that to him but he won’t listen. LMFAOOOO!! And the only thing he’s said to me for me to think he doesn’t like her is he’s called her ugly. That’s it. That’s the only reason he doesn’t like her. Bc she’s ugly! So I’m good right? Just bc she’s ugly he won’t cheat on me?
Anyway, last night he was on his phone and I happened to look over and he was on messages and she was at the top. The only way she’d be at the top is if they just texted. And then he went to the bathroom a few minutes later and I heard an iMessage buzz so I looked over real quick and guess what. No guess. Yeah. It was her 🤣🤣🤣 I hardly slept last night bc I couldn’t stop thinking about her. Anywayyyy, this is weird to me but what do y’all think? Idk what to do. There’s so much more I could tell you about this girl and their relationship. My heart beats so fast with rage when I think about her and them. Why does he like her so much? Alright, I’m done now. Thanks to anyone who read!

2023.05.31 18:13 pornflakes_007 Seeking Advice: Navigating a Complex Relationship and Conflicting Lifestyles
I apologize in advance for this very long post, but i didn't know how else to explain it. So here's the situation: I've been dating this guy since September. I'm a 24-year-old female (24F), and he's a 31-year-old male (31M). We met in a park in January last year, and let's call him K. At the time, I was very new to the city. K approached me, and we started talking. We went out for dinner a couple of times over the following months, but we weren't constantly in touch. During that time, we kissed once, but I made it clear that I wasn't romantically interested. He respected my boundaries and said he still wanted to be friends.
Professionally, K is doing very well. He works at one of the bigger MNCs and holds a senior role. When we meet, we usually talk about work, and he comes across as reserved and unapproachable. He leads a healthy lifestyle, participating in marathons and abstaining from smoking, drinking, or partying. He seems to have a good handle on adulting.
For the longest time, I wondered why K wanted to be friends with me or why he enjoyed my company so much. We have little in common, and I feel like I bring nothing to the table except being a good listener. I even communicated this to him, but he simply said he enjoys spending time with me. He's the kind of guy who gives me cards and surprises me with gifts occasionally, like on New Year's, Valentine's, and my birthday. Whenever we go out, he usually insists on paying for things, even though I suggest splitting the bill.
We come from similar backgrounds—same state, same caste, and similar financial statuses.
Since September last year, we started spending a lot of time together, meeting almost every week. During this time, we had sex. I was single and had recently ended a short-term relationship, so I was open to casual dating and flings. K knew about this and told me he didn't want to restrict me. I also introduced him to a couple of my friends, and he was enthusiastic about meeting them. However, he didn't get along well with my flatmate. While she can be a bit much, she means well, and I made it clear to him that I don't appreciate negative comments about her. This bothered me because my friends are important to me, and I don't like it when people try to isolate me from them. The age difference always lingered in my mind, and his behavior triggered some grooming concerns. However, since we weren't in a committed relationship, I didn't dwell on it too much.
Our conversations deepened, and we talked about family, life, career, friends, and future plans.
In November, I quit my job to prepare for an exam and pursue the opportunity to move abroad. K always encouraged me to do so, sometimes a little too eagerly. He told me about past mistakes where he might have been controlling in relationships and that he didn't want to be that person anymore.
Everything was going smoothly. He knew I wasn't exclusive, but he told me he was and I trusted him. He lives with his mom, and I had no reason to doubt him. He comes across as a well-grounded, old-school guy.
However, because he is successful in his career and older, my friends started jokingly referring to him as my "Sugar Daddy." Although I wasn't benefiting financially from him, we frequently went to fancy places for dinner, and he always insisted on paying because I had taken a career break. Additionally, he gifted me an expensive watch for my birthday.
As time went on, I moved away from casual dating and told him I wanted us to be exclusive. He said he had always been exclusive with me and intended to continue doing so. This conversation took place in March. I also mentioned that if we were going to be exclusive, I had expectations. My plans to move abroad had been postponed for another year, and I was returning to work. He is generally communicative and asked me what I meant by having expectations. I explained that I was looking for a more meaningful connection and, if all went well, I would eventually want to get married. That level of commitment was what I was seeking. He said he needed time, at least another year, to make such a decision because commitment, to him, meant marriage, and right now, he wanted to focus on his career. However, he was open to discussing it further if I was willing to meet him halfway. He expressed that he genuinely liked me and that this was something on the table, but it was a big decision. He even invited me to his elder brother's wedding, but I chose not to attend.
We have completely different lifestyles. I am fiercely independent, having lived away from home since my teenage years. I have a wide circle of friends, enjoy partying, and occasionally indulge in smoking, drinking, and other recreational drugs. I live a spontaneous life and dislike monotony. He is aware of all this. He also knows about my dating history. While discussing commitment, he mentioned that I didn't fit his ideal partner image, and he would have certain expectations from his future partner. He dislikes smoking and drinking, and envisions himself living in a joint family with his mother, elder brother, and their families. He told me I needed to think about these things and decide if I could see myself living that kind of life. He made it clear that he didn't want to restrict me but emphasized that this was a choice I had to make for myself. I suggested giving it more time and focusing on my new job. I told him I didn't want either of us to have expectations until we were in a committed relationship.
Nonetheless, we continued to meet, and he was always there for me whenever I needed him. For the longest time, I had no expectations from him, but he was always supportive. I feel loved and cherished around him. He is affectionate, playing with my hair until I fall asleep, looking at me with starry eyes. No one has treated me this way before. I have been feeling overwhelmed with emotions around him lately. On one hand, I feel he's the right person for me, but on the other hand, I become guarded. I constantly wonder if he has ulterior motives, and my friends jokingly calling him my Sugar Daddy doesn't help.
Last month, I developed a crush on someone I met through mutual friends. He's the typical "fuckboi" type, and we ended up hooking up this week. It was a one-time thing.
Yesterday, I met K and told him about what happened because I was feeling guilty.
Now, here's the catch: K told me I shouldn't feel this way. He said I didn't need to feel guilty because we're not committed, and he acknowledges that he falls short in that regard. He's focused on his career and understands that he may not be able to give his 100% to a relationship at the moment. He assured me that he would mind if we were in a committed relationship, but not now. I became overwhelmed and started crying, and he stayed with me, trying to make me feel better.
He's getting promoted next month and will be taking a lot of international trips for work. He asked if I wanted to accompany him to Dubai for a week. I'm unsure about how to feel about this. I am conflicted. We are still not in a committed relationship. He will take care of most of the expenses because, even though I can afford the trip, I don't want to spend that kind of money. There's also a vague feeling that he might propose during the trip. However, if he doesn't, I worry about the Sugar Daddy aspect. What if he sees me as a young, vulnerable person he can take advantage of? I have known him for 1.5 years, and aside from him not getting along with some of my friends, I haven't noticed any red flags. We still lead very different lifestyles. Professionally, I am far behind him and earn only a fraction of what he does.
I don't know how to feel about the entire situation. What would you have done if you were in my shoes? Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.

2023.05.31 18:13 Alecdj It’s expensive being so forgetful
I was diagnosed with ADHD in a young age probably seven or eight. So I’m kind of used to the typical things that come with me having ADHD, fidgeting and impulsivity. But the one that drives me the most crazy is how forgetful I can be I recently saw an article in VICE about how people with dyslexia typically have very good long-term memory because of the way we see the world. As a person with ADHD and dyslexia, I kind of recognize both. I’m the youngest of three and my sister who is five years older than me sometimes can’t remember things I can from our childhood but then days like today I remember how forgetful I can be after leaving my iPad on the back of a truck. That’s gonna be expensive.

2023.05.31 18:13 peanutbutterpolkadot complicated feelings about extended family
For the 2 years I’ve been VLC/NC with my parents, I also haven’t been speaking with my entire family (not that we were speaking regularly anyway; I only saw them for holidays mostly.) I chose not to try and reach out to any extended family because they all (one uncle/aunt excluded) are conservative Christians who hold bigoted views (I’m gay) and spank their children at the very least. A good handful of them gave my parents “advice” on what to do about me being gay and a lot of it was very cruel. I knew what their views would be and on a more real note, I didn’t want to deal with the rejection and hurt I knew would come from trying with any of them.
Recently, said aunt from before has reached out twice (once for Christmas, once for my birthday.) I responded the second time because I know she and my uncle are on the left and are atheists and I guess I was hopeful. It’s spurred this whole thing know with her contacting me, my uncle texting me because I gave my number, and my cousin texting me. It’s honestly so overwhelming and I don’t know what to do with any of it. I’ve been neglecting to answer my uncles most recent texts for days now.
He keeps affirming my LGBT identity and telling me about my cousin being gay and about another distant cousin being a trans women and that’s all great. It’s nice to not be the only one in a family like this. But I barely know them. I went through hell with this guy’s brother and he wasn’t around to see it and I don’t know how to approach that. I told him about some of the things I’ve been through (conversion therapy, emotional/physical abuse, etc) and he barely responded to it and continued to focus on affirming my queerness. Like cool. But also, I’m telling you your brother beat me… like what? He said some small piece about already hearing my dad’s side of the story and that it’s good to hear mine and I can vent if I need to. Like that’s great and I know I wouldn’t get that anywhere else but I also don’t feel like this is that kind of situation. Like my parents and I aren’t have a little spat. I was abused for 19 years and then ran away.
His most recent text was him sending me a screenshot of him reaching out to my trans cousin explaining to her that I was estranged and queer and asking her if he could give me her contact information. In this text, he phrased my estrangement as me “shunning the entire family.” He then texted me a few minutes later when I didn’t respond telling me that “shun” was probably a bit harsh and he’s sorry for framing it that way and he means that I was burned so I left to protect myself.
I just don’t know what to do with this. I can tell he’s trying. But I never had family in my corner to have the ability to shun them. He also had really bad experiences with family because he’s atheist and I think maybe he’s projecting those experiences onto me? I think he thinks I am in a better more solid place than I am and that I had a lot of autonomy in the decisions I’ve made in my life and that’s just not the case. I know I should respond and try and explain this, but I am just overwhelmed. The idea of answering makes me sick but I also feel sick letting it sit in my texts.
I also am having trouble with this thing he said when I was a kid. He was rarely around my family because he lived in a different country for a long time and then in a different state within our country. One of the times he was visiting with his family, my cousin saw my dad spanking me and flipped out because she doesn’t get spanked/hit. When she went to my uncle, he told her to mind her business. I get it. What are you going to do you know? Nothing he could’ve said or done would stop my dad from spanking us and then going on to escalate in violence as we got older. But god that hurt to hear as a kid. And I think i’m afraid he’s taking the same stance now. Like he knows it’s bad and maybe he’ll affirm my identity, but we’re not going to talk about the abuse. He’s going to mind his business.
I don’t know what to do with any of this. I’m feeling very fragile and broken up about all of it and I would appreciate any support or advice.

2023.05.31 18:12 raraThrowraway I think my friend is hinting at me becoming his mistress?
I (21F) have been friends with this guy (22M) for a year and a half, and we previously had a friends with benefits or "situationship" a few months before he got a girlfriend. Due to our proximity (we are neighbors) and circumstances, we've been hanging out a lot more recently and making / getting food together.
A few weeks ago I started noticing weird things he'd do or imply, but didn't think too much about it because I didn't want to assume anything. For example, I've noticed he's started injecting the word "mistress" or "side-chick" in conversation even when it wasn't relevant, or imply that his sex life is not that great. Sometimes, I'd rant about my birth control side effects in convo or even take it in front of him, and he'd say something mildly or barely suggestive or smirk. Another time, we had alcohol with dinner and I was very tipsy and I got a little nauseous, so I just laid down on my sofa and he started rubbing my back. but I noticed he had a very obvious hard-on (Very weird, but I guess men can't control it?) And few days ago when we got food, he put on a show about a guy who has multiple girlfriends at once.. which was strange to me, because we rarely watch anything while we ate. Other than this, we have had a very normal friendship over the past year.
I don't know if I'm picking up the wrong signals here, or if it's just all in my head or something, but advice about this or some clarity is needed I think.
