Feel free to add anything (I'm sure I will miss much) that I do indeed fail to mention.

1. Weapons across the board have been nerfed. All of my weapons of choice (plasma, fire or frag, gauss, BFG) are definitely nerfed to frustrating levels.
   
2. The time for the ultimate weapon to charge has been pushed back, for me, by 2 rooms. So, if you are usually seeing your ultimate charge at room 10, it is now room 12 or 13. For me at least. Every time.
   
3. Upgrades during run has targeted primary weapon to not be fully maxed more often. I have yet to have my primary fully maxed during a run since last update. Ive played over 30 times.
   
4. Weapon drops during runs has bottomed (hard to believe that was even possibly, but here we are). I usually would get a weapon drop 2 out of 10-15 tries and sometimes even better with the casual armor drops as well. Since last update both are as scarce as water in the Sahara.
   

That's what I've seen since update. If this level of change continues I cant see this game being successful past the flash in the pan/wham bam thank you mam like other failed to adapt mobile games before it.
EDIT--seems they must have heard us as the drop rate on weapons has increased remarkably since people have been complaining on Google reviews and here on reddit. Why we must speak out when we see or experience differences in gameplay.
I have had multiple runs with weapon or armor pieces in last 10 runs. We shall see If it tracks back to norm.
EDIT once again. It is back to having zero drops. Literally zero drops in over 15 runs. Incredible.

We've all come to love the music that James Gunn and co. brought with the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, but one thing that I found interesting is the discrepancy between the mixes, especially between Volumes 1 and 2. The soundtrack of all the songs that played in each movie correspond to their movie volume in real life (what you see on music streaming and physical copies), but not necessarily when they're played throughout the movies, taking into account the journeys of the cassettes. If we follow the events of the first two movies, Awesome Mix Vol 1 is destroyed before we hear Ain't No Mountain... and I Want you Back. We hear these two songs after Quill opens his mom's gift to reveal Vol 2, so in-universe these two songs are on the Vol 2 cassette. In GotG 2, Rocket asks Kraglin if he has any of Quill's old music. Since it's likely that Quill didn't share Awesome Mix Vol 2 with the Ravagers after the events of the first movie, it's safe to say that Come a Little Bit Closer and Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang (which is also played on the ship) are also on Awesome Mix Vol 1.
Ego destroys the Vol 2 cassette before we hear Father and Son, Flash Light, and Surrender; however, we know Quill receives the Zune and the movie shows him playing Father And Son on said device.
With all of this being said, every song – from Father And Son, to Rubberband Man by The Spinners in Infinity War, onto the songs from GotG 3 – most likely isn't on any Awesome Mix Vol 3 album/cassette, unless Quill created a playlist and named it that on the Zune. There's also no guarantee we even heard every in-universe song that was on the first two Volume cassettes, just what the Guardians were playing at that moment in time. We definitely didn't hear every song on the Zune!

TLDR; The songs from the in-universe Awesome Mixes don't necessarily correspond to/ match the albums they're on for us in the real world.

We've been longtime customers with Charter Spectrum ever since their merger with our existing ISP at that time, Time Warner Cable, and things have been pretty solid until a few months ago. Our Internet connection constantly goes out on us because of T4 timeouts, which is short for Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received.
This is an extremely common issue consumers face, often resulting from poor cables, taps or splitters. Yet the wires inside our house, as well as our recently-replaced outdoor wire work perfectly fine and give us more download speeds than we expected after replacing our old equipment with a Technicolor ET2251 modem and Spectrum Advanced WiFi router.
Our equipment will usually timeout on us between the late morning and early evening hours, resulting in our router emitting a slow-flashing red light while the Power and Internet lights on our modem remain a steady blue. Even after having our modem replaced, I still experience this same issue and have to constantly power-cycle our equipment practically every 10-30 minutes.
I've already confirmed that the modem isn't to blame for our issues, nor the lines inside our house after a technician inspected them just fine. I presume the issue may be due to a faulty tap or splitter, as our cable boxes have difficulties picking up our local ABC and CW affiliate 13-WHAM, but I am reluctant to get another technician to replace them as my mother hates when Spectrum labels our lines as "Radioshack lines."
Should I call for another technician to inspect our tap or splitters to see if they're the reason for our T4 timeouts?

Hey guys the other day I took 60mg codeine and it didn't do anything (wasn't expecting it to) now i wanna try to feel a codeine high the issue is I've only got 13 tablets left and I can't get more and I tend to keep them for pain emergencies (or if anyone in the family gets hurt) so don't want to deplet the box too much.
I was going to try 90 and see what happens but if nothing happens can I take another one? Making the dose 120. I know you can't redose but would this be different?
How long should I wait after taking the 90 to take the 30 to make it 120?
I don't know if I should just wham 120 to begin with as it's my first time trying.

"For you, Benjamin Bee, to you from me." Jaquelyn Wattner (whom was actually born Jolene Garbner) called and began laughing softly strolling back into Dr. Tom's office. The boy would probably end up underground at a research black site inside a week but she had done what she could for him, against all reason. "Foolish naive boy" she said shaking her head as she opened the door. "Asthmatic, bespectacled, and a bit effeminate with a hand eye coordination that gives all the other 4 eyed boys with allergies a bad name."
As she entered the clinic talking to herself she could see the initial shock had worn off at-least one of the receptionists there, an older woman with a kind of no nonsense expression permanently lined in her face, was on the phone. Likely speaking to the police but she held the phone down to her shoulder and said "Sir if you please, we have a situation here and I will be with you when I can, now sit down please." She said her voice starting a little breathless but gaining strength towards the end.
The clinic was small indeed, there were only a few chairs in the waiting area and one door leading to the rest of the building with a large opening beside it for the registration and reception. Walking straight towards the door way, which was still open as she had left it walking out, she could see that poor spanish women wide-eyed and a bit shaky.
"Excuse me, who are you, what is your name?" Prune face demanded leaving the officer on the phone waiting again, maybe he would take the opportunity to just hang up on the old bird.
Reaching back into her early days at the academy she adopted a pained expression and spoke quietly in reply " I-I have to go check on my husband, I think he is dead but I want to double check, I could be wrong. I could be" the last words coming out in a whisper.
Sure enough, she still had something of that skillset left. Sour puss's agitated expression slowly faded into real sympathy and at first seemed to not know what to say. She gave her self a visible shake and then asked "Dead?" Turning her head to Mrs Hernandez and calling her name which at first yielded no response she raised her voice a bit and said "Maria!"
"Yes?" Mrs Hernandez finally responded after a little shudder.
"I thought you two said the man was merely unconscious? Where is Dr Tomoloski, smoking a damned cigarette out back no doubt. Yes, i'm still here hold on a moment please." That last spoken to the officer on the phone.
"Mrs Hernandez if you think you can manage, would you escort Mrs..." She trailed off as she turned back towards Jolene with an expectant look.
"Mrs Wattner....or just Ms Wattner now I suppose" Jolene said letting her face crumple and her gaze drift back to the floor.
"Ah, well um, please take this woman back to her husband. And tell that doctor, investing that title with a hefty amount of scorn, to stop smoking and start settling his patients down."
Mrs Hernandez still a bit wide eyed "Eileen she is-"
"Don't you Eileen me right now Mrs Hernandez, no! Not another word on it. Honestly, you are a grown woman and a nurse get ahold of yourself and act like it. I have the police and these patients to deal with and I don't need you going to pieces like a girl still in college." Her voice had gained strength the longer she'd went on and clearly there was some pre-existing animosity between them. Jolene could use that.
To her credit, the little woman lost the deer in headlights expression to narrow her eyes and draw down her brows at Eileen a moment before rising and saying " Of course Mrs Tomoloski" she said bitterly. Walking up to Jolene she didn't get too close and regarded her warily, nodding her head down the hall.
Still in a phony distraught posture she turned down the hall and waited until she was sure prune face wasn't still watching them before standing straight. "She's probably already directing orders to the cop on the call, poor man. So she's this doc's mother eh?
Mrs Hernandez was walking a couple steps behind, and at first didn't say anything. Merely walked along studying this woman who had taken the children out and then let them go. As they arrived at the exam room the lout was in she finally spoke. "So is he really your husband? I know the boy is yours, a mother's eyes change when they fall on her son, even that one's" She said nodding her had back up the hall.
"He was Maria, was. Trust me when I tell you that this is definitely one circumstance where the less you know the better off you will be. Believe that." Placing her hand on the door she gave the little woman a viperish look that spoke volumes on it's own, especially after the two very different versions she had witnessed this afternoon. "Run along and find the good doctor, I suggest you smoke one too before returning. Go."
The blood drained from her face and she stood still for a moment. Very still. Like a rabbit too afraid to move with a hawk circling overhead. Then wide eyed expression returning she stammered "W-well I uh..."
Jolene half turned from the door and loomed over top of the woman and began to lean in but was relieved to hear a breathless "Yes" that sounded more like "Jess". Mrs Hernandez gave her wide berth as she moved on down the hallway towards the back door talking herserlf. She caught "oh dios mio todos estos americanos estan locos" before her voice cut off as she hustled outside.
Jolene opened the door and took a step in having only a moment before noticing Ted wasn't laying in the corner. WHAM! The door slammed into her and a firm hand gripped her head wrenching her ponytail and pulling her into the room and onto the floor. Instinctively she kicked backwards at his right leg as she hit the ground, sending him toppling on top of her and she lost all of her breath as the air was knocked out of her lungs with the elbow he had landed on her back.
She tried to turn, and couldn't. She wasn't a stranger to martial combat, the training she had received in the military was drilled in so hard, it never left you. She went to spin her legs out and twist herself around to face him but her breathless body couldn't muster the strength. Instead what she accomplished probably looked like a fish trying to swim on land. Feeling him lean back his weight on her butt and legs she cried out in pain as her hair tried to pull the skin off her head.
Ted pulled back on her pony tail as hard as he could with his right hand, the act lifted her head and shoulders off the floor as he sat/knelt on her ass and legs. Her hands reached back and vainly tried to claw his hand free, lifting herself closer backwards to get a grip he grinned as she scrapped. Savoring it only a moment he reached his other hand forward and snapped all of his strength into pushing down forward instead of pulling. Her head smashed into the solid linoleum with a sickening sound. Again he slammed it down and by the third strike he could see the blood splatter beneath, could feel her body go limp under him. Still he brutalized the woman he had lived with for over a decade, the woman he hated more than he had ever hated anyone. And Ted was no stranger to anger.
"Wooo!" he let out excitedly whilst staggering to his feet."Fucking finally, you shut up. You dumb dyke bitch. Oh that was good, was it good for you baby ?" He spat out while actually spitting at her head. Adjusting his clothing straight he leaned out the doorway to see if anyone was coming and his smile returned at the empty hallway. Giving her ass a solid kick on the way, he moved to the window to see how it would come open. "God this fucking headache." Unsure if this was the result of that injection or if the little mexican't wench gave him something while he was out. It hardly should have effected him at all, being meant for that wimpy little boy experiment and not a grown operator like himself.
Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a knife and began slicing at the caulking that seemed to be the only thing holding the bottom window pane in place. It didn't take long, but the seconds stretched out as sweat began to bead on his forehead, the headache growing worse each time he swiveled his head to check the door. Finally it came free and he pushed the window all the way out and lifted himself up to go out it feet first. For one panicked moment he was hung at the waist, he was getting soft around the mid drift with such a prolonged lax assignment, but finally he scraped through and out. He hit the ground with a thud and let out a string of quiet curses as he felt the cold wet on his shoulder where he'd landed at the edge of a puddle.
Wasting no time recovering he got on his feet and began trotting across the vacant grassy lot that sat next to the clinic. Looping around to the parking lot he saw his truck, and with no police cars around it yet. He bolted across the parking lot and made it inside his truck, starting the engine and yanking down the gear into drive jumping over the curb and into the exit lane, giving the truck two great bounces before the tires squealed as he lit out onto the highway. Checking his mirrors he let out a breath. Home free and without having to try and remember the correct protocol to use with local law enforcement.
Reaching into the glove compartment he pulled out his burner flip phone and scrolled down to call the only number in it's contact list.
It rang only once. "Overwatch" the crisp androgynous voice stated.
" BB Watts Bravo, go secure?" he replied.
"Confirmed Bravo, secure."
"Alpha and Charlie are both down and the asset is in the wind. Get me a line to actual, now."
Silence answered him and he started to say something but held his tongue and waited. "Actual here, what the hell is going down there Ted, siterep?" the voice belonged to a man he knew well. Major Hawlton. A vietnam era marine turned spook, not something he had a ever heard of but he somehow didn't doubt it after just one meeting with the man. His voice was impatient and more than a little angry.
"I told you that bitch had gone soft for the kid sir. Looks like she took out Carl and tried to make it look like a bear attack to cover the act, but I caught up to her at their rendezvous. I took her down but the boy manged to escape. Happened at a clinic with several eyeballs there sir, no way to avoid it." He let out all in a rush before the man could voice complaint or question to interrupt.
"Son of a bitch..dammit Ted I can't believe you two let this shit happen. It's a woman and a kid for god sakes man." The major's voice spoke again but quieter as he spoke to someone else in the room. " Activate broken arrow protocol for beeboy and get me the liason on the line." The voice turned back up " I want you talking to that drunk they call sherriff before he does or says anything stupid, do you hear me Ted, you will unscrew this situation before it gets anyworse."
"Negative sir, i'm already on the trail. Give me a day and i'll drag this punk back in."
"Are you tired of living? Maybe we lost the whole team today after all." Hawlton spoke back in a dangerous voice.
"What's the priority here sir, containtment or the asset? I'm already following the route he took out of town and I know the boy and his girlfriend better than anyone else you could put to run the op right?." he rambled out raising the pitch of his voice and adding a bit of pleading into his tone at the end. Silence answered him.
He spoke over his shoulder again and barked "Get a damn team down there within the hour, chopper them in dressed as fed's. Alright Bravo, you want it? You got it. But I had better see some honey on my plate soon or you are going to be there instead, understand?"
"Roger that sir, I'm currently eastbound on state highway 13, they're heading into Indiana. I'll update you soon."

You know how your mom never, ever, ever stops talking about how painful and difficult your birth was? How each time she talks about it, it gets longer and more painful and more detailed and more awful? And how that long and difficult experience makes you indebted to her forever? And how when she tells that tale at Thanksgiving every year with three-too-many Chardonnays in her you feel the bile and anger rise?
What, just me? Goddammit, Freud, you are ruining my sex life.
This week’s band went through a truly difficult and painful genesis. They strove for success and fought themselves all the way. The band peaked just as they were coming apart, and the breakup was ugly. There were drugs (a lot more than six). Worse, there was heroin. And no, not the Wonder Woman kind, that’s spelled differently. There was alcohol. There were binges and mistakes. There was a car crash. Then there was another one. There was a feud with Liam Gallagher. OK, that shit is totally understandable. Wanker. There were brushes with greatness. Steve Fisk, Chris Cornell, and our ginger savior all played a part.
Birth is a difficult process. I should know, because I gave birth to a kidney stone once, and I am never letting that fucker forget it.
Today we will take a dive into a painful experience for everyone involved, full of regret and mistakes. But that suffering produced some amazing music, was the bridge between Kyuss and QotSA, and introduced the world to the ashtray-eating, heroin-shooting gargoyle himself, Mark Lanegan.

About Them
Screaming Trees hail from the pacific northwest, that Mecca of Grunge. But what people tend to forget is that this band was old before Grunge was actually a thing. Their first four albums - over half their official discography - dropped between 1986 and 1989, and went largely unnoticed outside of the local scene.
Sure, if you ask a hard core fan, they will tell you that you don’t know the band unless you have listened to their 1986 debut album Clairvoyance, if only because Steve Fisk produced it. Even Kim Thayil of Soundgarden loves the raw power of the album. Much like The Velvet Underground, early Screaming Trees music is more important because of how it influenced artists in the Seattle Scene, rather than the impact of the music itself.
The band - consisting of Lanegan summoning Cthulu on vocals, Gary Lee Conner on Guitar, his brother Van Conner on Bass, and Mark Pickerel on drums - signed a record deal with SST (Solid State Tuners, yeah, I looked that one up for you) and quickly released Even If and Especially When in 1987, Invisible Lantern in 1988, and Buzz Factory in 1989. All three albums underwhelmed and brought an end to their contract. The band did cut their teeth on the indie circuit. After a van wreck in Florida in 1989, the band almost collapsed. (Side note: who would have thought anything would be a complete wreck in Florida?)
Though the band had garnered something of a cult following by touring all across the US, the big break eluded them. We know that the Seattle scene was an intimate one, and everyone knew each other. Screaming Trees jumped from SST to legendary Seattle label Sub Pop for one EP, Change Has Come. Even though this was a modest success, the band made the decision to seek some formal management and ended up turning to Susan Silver, who managed Soundgarden and was then the wife of Chris Cornell.
Silver - and Cornell - turned out to be exactly what they needed. Things began to turn around when Silver convinced Epic Records to take a gamble on them. Epic was the Sony-owned label that had released Michael Jackson’s Thriller. They had major acts in their stable, including Culture Club, Wham!, the Clash, Living Color, Ozzy Ozbourne, and of course Pearl Jam. Epic saw the growing music scene in Seattle and, tipped off by Silver, snapped up Screaming Trees.
This was the big time.
This was what they had been working for.
All they had to do was not screw it up.
If you want to dive into their discography, a great place to start is with their fifth album, and the first one on the Epic label, Uncle Anesthesia. Screaming Trees knew that Epic was their big shot, and that they had to create something great. After dipping a toe in the water with Epic with the EP Something About Today, they knew that they needed an amazing producer to sharpen them in the studio, just like Steve Fisk had done on their debut.
Cornell and Silver recommended Terry Date, who had produced Louder than Love. Cornell also volunteered to help produce the album and do backing vocals. Incidentally, Date would go on to produce Soundgarden’s monster album Badmotorfinger that same year.
Uncle Anesthesia (despite some truly disturbing album art) went on to actually have a song - Bed of Roses - chart on the radio. But it was not quite the hit album that anyone in the band had hoped for. Drummer Mark Pickerel called it quits and left the band and was replaced by Barrett Martin. After another van wreck (Seriously? WTF? Twice? Only one guy in the band is named Van) -- this time in Wyoming -- the band had to cancel a bunch of shows. Lanegan had always been a drinker, but this second wreck pushed him deep into the bottle. Bassist Van Conner temporarily quit the band to tour with Dinosaur Jr. It seemed like Screaming Trees had missed the free throw. They’d bobbled the ball. They had dropped the pass. They didn’t do the thing. They didn’t sport the sport.
But there was some light at the end of the tunnel. Or, rather, moving pictures. Or maybe both. See, it turns out that the band should really have been thinking of going to the movies instead.
Screaming Trees may not have had the Kool-Aid-Man -Runs-Through-the-Wall breakout hit they wanted with Uncle Anesthesia. But what they had after five full albums was credibility. They were the band that other bands knew and respected. They had a very strong cult following. They had modest airplay and a great record deal.
And with the movie Singles, their long, protracted and painful journey from scuffling bar band to genuine breakout artist finally occurred. The 1992 love letter from director Cameron Crowe to the Gen X Seattle Music Scene has all kinds of inside jokes in it. Pearl Jam Bassist Jeff Ament let actor Matt Dillon wear his clothes for the authenticity of his character. Chris Cornell wrote an early version of Spoonman for the film as well as Birth Ritual and Seasons. Pearl Jam wrote Breath and State of Love and Trust. The Smashing Pumpkins wrote Drown. Alice in Chains and Soundgarden both had live performances in the film. Crowe knew all about the music scene in Seattle and knew the credibility that Screaming Trees had with all the artists in the film.
And because the soundtrack came out on Epic Records, the label also had a vested interest in the success of their own Grunge artist. The Singles soundtrack was released in June of 1992, three months before the movie came out. It built massive hype and went platinum. Epic, with Crowe’s blessing, made sure that Screaming Trees got a huge place of prominence in the movie soundtrack. Nearly Lost You, the single from the forthcoming Screaming Trees album, got heavy radio rotation. Expectations soared.
This was a massive problem for the band.
Screaming Trees had been all about the struggle. When they finally got national success they just did not know what to do with it. Having finally been born, they were in real danger of being abandoned, much like my aforementioned kidney stone. It just kind of sits there now. Lazy bastard.
Lanegan’s drinking and the pressure for success made the creation of their sixth studio album, Sweet Oblivion, a chaotic experience. He would disappear for days during the recording process, come back hung over and make up lyrics on the spot. Half-written songs without titles were workshopped and recorded rather than rehearsed and polished. But somehow the album got made. Sweet Oblivion dropped in September of 1992 and the strength of the massively hyped Nearly Lost You drove unprecedented sales. They weren’t playing clubs anymore; they were playing stadiums. But this tour pushed Lanegan out of the bottle and straight towards Heroin. And not ‘heroine’ like Black Widow, I mean Black Tar heroin.
The punishing tour schedule and equally if not more punishing drug use took an incredible toll on the band. When it came time to try to follow up on Sweet Oblivion, the mojo was gone. Screaming Trees had never had any problems creatively until this time. Gary Lee Conner called the time after the tour “...one of the darkest periods of my life.” If the pressure to create Sweet Oblivion had been big, the pressure to follow it up was enormous. To the band, it was like trying to create the follow up to GTA V. Or Skyrim. Or Half-Life 2. We’re talking turn-coal-into-diamonds-in-your-ass type of pressure. Gary Lee Conner and Mark Lanegan had always collaborated to make the band’s music, but Lanegan was the clear creative force. Conner could not do it on his own, and Lanegan was too busy dancing with his Feel-Good-Hits-Of-The-Summer, if you know what I mean.
It got so bad that Van Conner told Lanegan that he was kicked out of the band, and that they would be seeking a new singer and a new band name. Lanegan somehow convinced Conner to give him one more chance. Screaming Trees went back in to the studio and squeezed out one more album, Dust. It is a solid recording with some good tracks but it came out in 1996, four years after their last release.
The band toured heavily in support Dust. At one point in 1996, they were touring with Oasis, and got into it because Liam Gallagher called them ‘Howling Branches’. Somewhat sneakily, Van Conner whacked Gallagher with his bass guitar during an energetic performance. I mean, who doesn’t want to hit Liam Gallagher? That face is just so punchable.
Anyway, here’s Wonderwall.
Looking to augment their live sound, they added ex-Kyuss guitarist Joshua Homme as a touring member. Yes, that’s right: JHo was Alain Johannes before Alain was Alain. Homme was a great hit with the guys in the band and managed to patch some of the cracks between them. But this was temporary at best.
Following the Dust tour, the band went on extended hiatus. Their deal with Epic had come to an end. They tried to record some new tracks in 1999 but very little came of it. They officially called it quits in 2000.
Mark Lanegan joined QotSA the same year, reuniting with Homme.
Their music, the product of so much conflict, does stand the test of time and is worth a listen.
Screaming Trees fans have been beset with tragedy in the last couple of years, with the sad passing of Mark Lanegan in February of 2022 and Van Conner in January of 2023.
The band now belongs to the ages. If you haven’t already discovered them, now is your chance.

Much of Screaming Trees roots (pun 100% intended) are intertwined with that of QotSA. Josh Homme himself was a touring rhythm guitarist for the band from 1996-1998.
Then of course there is the most obvious connection, that being the ever powerful presence of satan himself Mark Lanegan. The late, great vocalist toured and recorded with Our Boys for five of their seven albums, enough to be a full member in his own right. And even if you’re new, and you don't know him by name yet, I can bet that you’re enjoyed that raspy vocal delivery on many a QotSA track without even knowing it.
The other members also have some slight connections to either Josh or his ever changing entourage of musical monarchs. Lead guitarist of ST, Gary Lee Conner, has released music featuring our ginger Elvis. His brother, the late Van Conner, was the first studio bassist for QotSA, and his basswork can be found on both the Kyuss / Queens of the Stone Age EP and the Gamma Ray EP.
One of the two drummers of Screaming Trees has also been touched by the holy hand of Homme. Barrett Martin was one of the many contributing guest artists on Rated R, providing some percussion, steel drums, and vibraphone as needed on The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret, Better Living Through Chemistry, Lightning Song, and I Think I Lost My Headache.
This band was truly well entwined with the one we all know so well. I could hardly be-leaf it! Sorry, im really branching off with these tree puns. Man, I'm such a sap for these. I’d come up with more, but I think I'm feeling a bit stumped.

It has astounded me how people have failed to take into doctrinal considerations when speaking about aircraft weapons systems. This is especially a problem for the A-10 as most of the reason for its "poor" service record was not so much due to the airframe but the tactical and strategic employment of the A-10.

A MK82 500lb bomb, the smallest in common US inventory at the time of desert storm has a minimum 100% kill radius of 32 METERS. This only counting the 100% lethality radius, the actual danger radius can extend out to 100 meters. Factoring bombing accuracy issues (for the MK84 1000lb) could result in a deviation of up to 200ft (49 meters). These factors were known to Command from pre war exercises and testing. Bombs would most often be dropped from high altitude either from dives, CCRP using the ground radar. Note this ground radar (on the f-16) could Not distinguish the Vehicle type or had any sort of IFF.
Visual spotting was completely the norm back in the 1990s. Pilots were expect to train with visual spotting and were more than expected to regularly use visual spotting as a final means of target recognition and PID if at all possible. It has been a thing for the past century. However due to the ground fire threat of desert storm only the A-10 is mentioned as having the specific mission type of "Look and See" Given the rest of the more vulnerable aircraft that were less suited for low altitude flight remained at high altitude. This wasn't just of out ground fire concerns either, With the F-16s and F-15s having significantly lower efficiency at lower altitude compared to the A-10 which did not suffer as much at low altitude. Weather you think "Look and see" missions were a tactical error or not has little do with the aircraft flying the sortie. The fact is if an F-15 or F-16 flew similar missions regularly would have likely had similar if not worse performance or not than the A-10.
LGBs in desert storm were relatively rare being only 6.7 percent of weapons employed in desert storm. Only the F-111 and F-117 were configured to carry LGBs at the start of the war. A trivial amount of F-15Es were equipped with pods for LGBs (only 6 pods were available for F-15Es). The F-16s in desert storm were only equipped with the AAQ-13 Nav pod and not the AAQ-14 targeting pod.
A small side note A-10s ended up firing the most AGM-65 mavericks out of any aircraft in desert storm. firing 4,801 AGM-65s of all variety. This accounts to about 90% of all maverick's fired in DS and overall with pretty decent effectiveness. High explosive variants were not widely in service at the time of DS with only 35 of the AGM-65Es being supplied to the USMC. I'm not sure why flying fast=better platform for CAS but in this case i can guess that flying at lower altitudes at slower speeds helped A-10s find and target better than faster F-16s.
So if you aren't familiar with USAF doctrine, Ground troops don't willy nilly call in CAS missions. This is a job for JTACs or Joint Air tactical air controllers. These men are more than familiar with an aircrafts weapons systems and capabilities. They require specific parameters in order to employ and direct aircraft onto targets. One of these key parameters is the danger close range. JTACS typpicaly dont call in stikes that may violate mission parameters.
The 500lb bomb has a danger close radius of 230 meters, A gbu-12 has a danger close radius of 170 meters, And the "inaccurate" "friendly killer" "dangerous" GAU-8 has a danger close of 65 meters. Hell even the apache's and cobras 20mm and 30mm had limits of 75 meters (300M increasing to 85 at 1000M) and 70 meters (at 500m increasing to 75m at 1000m). The M-151 unguided rocket (launched from helicopter) having a danger close zone of 140m (300m) up to 405M (3 kilometers). the M-229 (launched from helicopter) having an accuracy of 145M-410M (300M-3 kilometers respectively). For aircraft launched rockets this was 365m at med alt and 225m at low alt (individual rocket types not given). Funny enough the "less accurate" M61 Vulcan only has a danger close radius of 60m. However it is to be noted that the M61 is less effective than all above listed weapons and is significantly less capable against armor than the GAU-8. The GAU-8 30mm DU having reportedly 14 times more kinetic energy than an 20mm M61 Vulcan round and more explosive mass (for HE rounds).
So where does this leave us? What do i mean? Wham am i trying to say? The A-10 In desert storm was one of the most capable CAS aircraft in theater. It is unfair to compare the A-10 to F-111, F-16, and F-15 because The A-10 was often tasked with missions these other aircraft simply did not do. These missions being inherently more hazardous and more prone to human error than other more "planned" missions assigned to strike aircraft. The A-10 is a fundamentally different aircraft than the F-16 and F-15 and should not be judged by the same standard.
The Strike fighters (F-15,F-16, and F-111) could not do The A-10's job of CAS better than it can, on the contrary the A-10 can perform strike missions just as well as the strike fighters can. The A-10s use in close in CAS missions throughout its service life brought it closer to friendly troops than the strike fighters were allowed to go. The nature of its mission set being inherently more prone to blue on blue and blue on green incidents than other mission types. Most of its friendly fire incidents in desert storm weren't even due to the inaccuracy of its weapons system but more due to misinformation and lack of coordination with command. The most notable Blue on blue incidents occurred in "Kill boxes" where the A10s were more or less allowed to shoot on sight. Again tactical error or not, The A-10 is not responsible for the inherent weaknesses of the mission assignment/type.
But why not the helicopter? Apparently the helicopter is supposed to be better than the A-10. Helicopters for a number of reasons are significantly more vulnerable than the A-10. Helicopters are slow enough to be vulnerable to SACLOS ATGMs and AAMs given the right circumstances. Helicopters generally fly pretty low to the ground exposing them to ground fire and non radar AAA fire for the duration of the mission. These were well known issues with the employment of helicopters and led to the underusage of helicopters (the AH-64 specifically). AH-64s were only assigned 88 missions during desert storm and only flew 652 flights. The A-10 on the other hand is only really vulnerable to automatically guided MANPADs (IR) leading to the A-10 taking over a fair portion of AH-64 duties. The A-10 was more than capable of flying at medium altitude and was considerably faster and more responsive than attack helicopters while retaining loiter time. The A-10 ended up flying over 8000 sorties so comparing the two kind of doesn't make sense.
The issue of cost for the A-10 is also kind of irrelevant in the case of the gulf war. Being cheaper is a nice bonus to have but as the A-10 was more or less the only fixed wing aircraft designed for close in CAS missions it made sense to optimize the A-10 for its role in the future.
I will probably making a similar post responding to Lazerpig's video on the A-10 and for specifically detailing the A-10s in Afghanistan.

I know that they say to keep letting baby eat until they tell you they are full, but that rarely happens. My 13 month old seems to eat so much all of a sudden! She wasn’t even interested until about 11 months. Then WHAM! It’s like Saturday in the Hungry Hungry Caterpillar book. Today she’s eaten one baby yogurt with cheerios, a banana, a waffle, a few beans, a jar of baby plums/pears, a sweet potato granola bar, 7 cheese ravioli with squash, 3 veggie nuggets, one squeeze pouch strawberry, about 20 yogurt bites. We haven’t even had dinner yet. Plus she’s also breastfed. Sometimes I feel like by the time she’s done with one meal it’s time for a snack, and then the next meal…it’s very cute though. And she only weighs 17 lbs somehow. I feel like my new role has become gourmet chef.
