EXTRA NOTE: Some local thieves pulled off a full-on post office heist and stole 22 packages from the loading dock of my local USPS location last month and a package I shipped to a user on this subreddit got stolen. When the kids at Plymouth stated they were going back-to-basics with the Roadrunner they weren't joking. Real to the significance of muscle mass vehicles, anything that had not been necessary was overlooked. The inside was very sporadic, with simply a basic towel as well as vinyl bench seat; they used a bench seat since the shifter was just generally a steel pole extending out of the floor. The shifter only had a rubber boot to cover it as well as there was an a centre console to elevate it. And in the earlier versions there wasn't even any carpets. I have been with Windstream for about 5-6 years, about every 3 or 4 months i get a late fee charge. we always pay our bills and send them out on the 1st or 2nd of every month. The due date for windstream is usually the 14th or 17th of each month. so plenty of time for mail to get from Lincoln Ne to Little Rock AR windtream office. Windstream likes to hold checks as well and they are always the last to clear. IWe send 8-10 bills to other places in the US every year and never have this issue. Windstream is pulling a stunt here trying to get bogus late charges by sitting on payments.
Some windtream rep i talked to said that mail can take up to 21 days. That infuriated me and I threw the BS flag right then and there. I have sent my payments with certified mail in the past to keep windstream honest and the checks clear quickly the,.But customers should not have to shell out certified mail to keep windtream honest. .We switched to windtream because. we had Time Warner (roadrunner before and their internet was slow and always buffering. We only have internet not tv or phone. I guess we will be switching to ALLO now which is the last option in Lincoln NE as we only have 3 internet providers Time Werner, Windstream and Allo.
Anyone else ever have issues with companies sitting on payments so they can hit you with a bogus late fee? These companies like windstream if they do this to 10,000 customers a month they will make millions. Lots of customers probably dont even check and just pay it. It is unethical and laughable that they claim the mail will take 21 days.
2 months ago I sent a payment certified 0n dec 1 that arrived at the Little Rock PO PO Box Monday morning of Dec 5. ( So I don't think there is a "problem with the Post Office." ) last month i did not send certified .We'll see how long it takes for (probably a third-party vendor) to cash the check. The bill is "due" 1/14. S ent it out on 2 Jan Ought to be enough time to cash a check. Now I received a notice that they will 'forgive' the late fee if I sign up for the automatic withdrawal. The 'late fee' was assessed the day they cashed my last check. A gimmick to scam people out of additional 'late fees' for already premium-priced services. If i cant trust them with mail i am for sure not going to trust wind stream with auto withdrawl.

Don’t you guys think it’s funny how for the longest time Iowa was out of print. And Slipknot mainly clown was vocal about leaving Roadrunner after finishing their contract which was a 7 album deal.
Then all of a sudden without any real announcements RR started pumping out vinyl reissues of their albums. Along with other merch items.
I guess they wanted to cash in on the cash cow and milk as much revenue as they can before Slipknot leaves. I’m sure when they do the boys will probably try to get all the rights to their music if they don’t own it all already.
What are your thoughts on this? I personally was so happy to get these records finally. I’m just a little disappointed it took so long and I really only think we got these reissues since they are leaving the label.

I've been seeing so many posts along the lines of "which is the best X-th track of every album?" So I was wondering: What would be your ideal track listing if you keep every track in its original place? Which is your favorite 1st track, which your favorite 2nd and so on...
(Bonus question: Which track position is the most loaded? Definitely 1st and 10th for me.)

Now that the application deadline has passed, I want to share my experience with the CAP program as people begin to receive their admissions decisions. This post is intended for applicants who receive a CAP offer, but it may also be interesting for any current UT students who are just curious about the program.

I want to start off by saying that if you were not offered admission into UT Austin, it's not the end of the world! One thing I have learned is how random admissions can be, especially at UT. A rejection does not make your efforts throughout high school and the application process any less worthy and commendable. Remember to be kind to yourself!
​
I'm sure I will be asked for my stats, so I will get those out of the way now. I took a total of six AP classes throughout high school and earned a 3.7 cumulative GPA. I was only able to take the SAT once due to limitations from COVID, but my score was 1410. I was involved in a number of extracurricular activities, including student government, sustainability, debate, rotary international, and symphony orchestra. In addition to those, I had 100+ hours of community service and volunteer hours. I also had a part-time job for two years in high school, as well as a one-year internship. I applied to the College of Liberal Arts, specifically the government program.

So, you were invited to participate in the Coordinated Admissions Program (CAP). What does that mean? In short, the CAP program is a special entrance offer that allows a selected amount of in-state freshman applicants to begin their undergrad at another UT System university. After completing their freshman year at one of the participating universities and fulfilling the specific program requirements, they are granted automatic admission to UT Austin.

There are a lot of things to consider before choosing to participate in the CAP program. For starters, CAP only guarantees automatic admission to the College of Liberal Arts. If you do not plan on majoring in a COLA degree, it is generally not recommended.
​
\If you are interested in a major outside of COLA, there are still a few routes you can take within CAP. You can decide to complete your CAP year and enter UT as a liberal arts major, then apply to internally transfer into your desired major. Your second option is to still participate in CAP, but apply for a non-COLA major as your first-choice. As a CAP student, UT will reach out to you in the fall to confirm your major choices. You are given a first-choice major and a second-choice major. If you decide to go with this route, it means you will not be guaranteed automatic admission into your first-choice major and will still be competing amongst all regular transfer students. Here is where CAP comes in: you can list a COLA major as your second-choice and still be guaranteed automatic admission if you are not accepted into your first-choice. These options are a bit more complicated and because my major is within the College of Liberal Arts, I am not too familiar with the process. But there are plenty of CAP students pursuing non-COLA majors, so it is still a viable option if you are dead-set on attending UT.*

In addition to this, you may also want to consider the amount of dual-credit and/or AP credits you have obtained. In order to successfully fulfill the CAP requirements, you must earn a minimum of 30 credit hours at the participating university. CAP students are limited to a small number of selected courses approved by UT at the participating system school. If you have too many credits, you may be unable to fulfill the 30-credit requirement. There are a host of additional factors to consider, so I strongly recommend taking the time to read through all of the materials provided by UT about the Coordinated Admissions Program. You are going to be dedicating a year of your life and expending a hefty amount of money. If you are seriously considering the program, it is worth it to read through all of the fine details to ensure it is the best option for you!

Although I was admitted into a variety of other Texas universities (including Texas A&M, UNT, Texas Tech, Texas State, and TCU) and additional schools out-of-state, I am from Austin and therefore opted to participate in the CAP program. Among all of the participating UT system schools, UTSA and UT Arlington are by far the most preferred schools. This is most likely due to their independent reputations and proximity to major cities. If you do decide to participate in the CAP program, selecting your school is one of the most important steps in the process. The schools you will be offered depend on your high school stats, so this may affect your options. UTSA and UT Arlington only admit a limited number of CAP students, so they are extremely competitive. The slots fill up within minutes of the portal opening (typically sometime in February), so you must be ready when the time comes.

The general CAP requirements are as follows:
(1) Maintain a 3.2 or above GPA. None of the individual grades you earn for transferable CAP courses can be below a C, regardless of your cumulative GPA. If you make a D or an F in a course during the fall semester of your CAP year, you must retake that course (or take another course in its place) during the spring semester.
(2) Complete a minimum of 30 semester credit hours of transferable coursework specified by the UT System school that you choose to attend.
(3) Submit a final, official transcript detailing your work at the UT System school to UT Austin by the provided deadline.
\Throughout your CAP year, it is crucial you follow all of the specified guidelines, limitations, and requirements. While there are CAP advisors that will assist you, they are not always reliable. UT Austin provides little to no help in making sure CAP students are on the right track, so it is your individual responsibility. The biggest trend I see amongst CAP students is people who fail to read the agreement and accidentally void their contract. If you make sure to read all of the details and stay up to date, you will be fine. I recommend getting to know your advisor well and building a strong relationship with them. Schedule meetings with them often and don't be afraid to advocate for yourself. If there's something you have questions about or concerns you might have, bring them up and be persistent. UT Austin is one of the top public universities in the country and admissions are naturally extremely competitive, so the CAP program only exists for students who are extremely set on attending. It is designed to weed out the students who will most likely not be a good fit at UT, but if you are committed, it should be a relatively straightforward process and you'll be on the Forty Acres in no time!*

I selected UTSA due to its campus life and closeness to Austin. I have a few friends participating in the CAP program at UT Arlington and they have told me that it's been difficult finding other CAP students there. That's about all I can say in regard to the CAP experience at UT Arlington. I just completed my first semester at UTSA and could not be happier with my decision. There is a large community of CAP students, so I've had no trouble meeting people. My professors have been extremely great and the campus is very nice. There are tons of amenities on campus, from the rec center to the wide variety of food options (Chick-Fil-A, Subway, Einstein Bagels, Starbucks, Smoothie King, etc.). While I can't wait to be a longhorn, my time as a roadrunner will always hold a special place in my heart. I've grown particularly fond of UTSA in my short time here because of its close-knit community. The city of San Antonio really rallies around the school, which is a comforting feeling and a fun experience. Not to mention how far their football program has come within the past few years. The games at the Alamodome have such a special energy, unlike anything I've experienced! Plus, all of the games are free for UTSA students. A lot of CAP students even end up electing to stay at UTSA, so rest assured that it's still a great school where you can have a positive experience. I urge you to enter your CAP year with an open and excited mind. Put yourself out there, join clubs, and attend events! The first week of the fall semester was filled with fun events. The night before classes, there was tons of live music and fireworks on campus! UTSA even rents out Six Flags for one day, free for all students and faculty.

I know it's easy to feel impatient or even frustrated with your situation at times. Trust me, we have all experienced this at some point during the year. But my time at UTSA has been truly memorable. Try not to go about your time at UTSA (or whichever system school you end up at) feeling "above" the regular students. I've seen a few CAP students here that want nothing to do with UTSA and it's pretty disappointing. The people around them and their professors can sense their entitlement and it's just not the type of energy I recommend bringing. This university is a great institution that has tons of character and unique opportunities!

I cannot speak much about the dorms, as I opted to live in an off-campus apartment, but they are what you would expect. Typical college dorms. I have been inside every dorm hall and I personally think Alvarez is the nicest. However, it seems like most people prefer Chaparral Village due to the dorms being more apartment-style. There is also a nice swimming pool and hot tub in Chaparral Village if that's something you think you'd enjoy, but it's open to all students from any dorm hall. If you do choose to attend UTSA and have a car, I highly recommend bringing it. The biggest difference between UT Austin and UTSA is the walkability. While the campus itself is walkable, you will most likely want to leave campus, and it's impossible without a car. I know there is an extensive bus system, but I prefer the reliability of having my own car. If you are spending a year in San Antonio, you might as well take advantage of it and explore! There is a lot to do and bringing your car will allow you that freedom, especially for visiting home during breaks.

One important factor to consider is that UTSA and UT Arlington require CAP students to complete their first two courses over the summer semester. You can choose to take them online or in person. I took both online and they were extremely easy. Although it may be irritating at first, it means you only have to take three courses during the fall which is really beneficial. You then take five courses in the Spring. Also, be aware that UTSA does not allow CAP students to accept their merit-based scholarships.

Throughout your CAP year, UT Austin will reach out to you a number of times. The school will email you around November to confirm your major choices, and then again in April with a few reminders. You must send your freshman transcript to UT Austin BY the deadline, otherwise, you will not be able to transfer. This is extremely important.
​
One last piece of advice is that if you plan on living off-campus once you get to UT, I strongly recommend figuring out your living situation for Austin during the fall semester of your CAP year. Ideally, you should aim to sign your lease before the Spring semester. My roommate and I signed our lease for Austin in September. By doing this early, you ensure that you'll secure an apartment and may even find some nice deals to save cash!

I've seen some applicants worried about any stigmas surrounding CAP students and to that, I'll say this: Most of my friends are at UT and many of them don't even know what the program is. They've told me that once you're at UT, nobody is concerned about where you came from and that CAP students are treated like any other transfer student. While CAP students can occasionally be the butt of a few jokes at UT, none of them are in bad taste. Don't take it too seriously! When I initially toured UT, even our tour guide was a former CAP student. Anyone who would seriously judge you for being a CAP student simply isn't worth the time of the day. A lot of my friends at UT have even told me that many people respect CAP students for their commitment to attending UT. Ultimately, if you really see yourself as a longhorn, then go for it! Spending a year working hard to fulfill the requirements is admirable and you can feel proud knowing you earned your place at UT.

I tried my best to include all of the information that I wish I had known at the time. I'd be happy to answer any and all questions you might have. There are a lot of things to consider before choosing to participate in the CAP program. For starters, CAP only guarantees automatic admission to the College of Liberal Arts. If you do not plan on majoring in a COLA degree, it is generally not recommended.
\If you are interested in a major outside of COLA, there are still a few routes you can take within CAP. You can decide to complete your CAP year and enter UT as a liberal arts major, then apply to internally transfer into your desired major. Your second option is to still participate in CAP, but apply for a non-COLA major as your first-choice. As a CAP student, UT will reach out to you in the fall to confirm your major choices. You are given a first-choice major and a second-choice major. If you decide to go with this route, it means you will not be guaranteed automatic admission into your first-choice major and will still be competing amongst all regular transfer students. Here is where CAP comes in: you can list a COLA major as your second-choice and still be guaranteed automatic admission if you are not accepted into your first-choice. These options are a bit more complicated and because my major is within the College of Liberal Arts, I am not too familiar with the process. But there are plenty of CAP students pursuing non-COLA majors, so it is still a viable option if you are dead-set on attending UT.*

In addition to this, you may also want to consider the amount of dual-credit and/or AP credits you have obtained. In order to successfully fulfill the CAP requirements, you must earn a minimum of 30 credit hours at the participating university. CAP students are limited to a small number of selected courses approved by UT at the participating system school. If you have too many credits, you may be unable to fulfill the 30-credit requirement. There are a host of additional factors to consider, so I strongly recommend taking the time to read through all of the materials provided by UT about the Coordinated Admissions Program. You are going to be dedicating a year of your life and expending a hefty amount of money. If you are seriously considering the program, it is worth it to read through all of the fine details to ensure it is the best option for you!

Although I was admitted into other Texas universities (Texas A&M, UNT, SMU, Texas Tech, Texas State, TCU) and additional out-of-state schools, I am from Austin and therefore opted to participate in the CAP program. Among all of the participating UT system schools, UTSA and UT Arlington are by far the most preferred schools. This is most likely due to their independent reputations and proximity to major cities. If you do decide to participate in the CAP program, selecting your school is one of the most important steps in the process. The schools you will be offered depend on your high school stats, so this may affect your options. UTSA and UT Arlington only admit a limited number of CAP students, so they are extremely competitive. The slots fill up within minutes of the portal opening (typically sometime in February), so you must be ready when the time comes.

The general CAP requirements are as follows:
(1) Maintain a 3.2 or above GPA. None of the individual grades you earn for transferable CAP courses can be below a C, regardless of your cumulative GPA. If you make a D or an F in a course during the fall semester of your CAP year, you must retake that course (or take another course in its place) during the spring semester.
(2) Complete a minimum of 30 semester credit hours of transferable coursework specified by the UT System school that you choose to attend.
(3) Submit a final, official transcript detailing your work at the UT System school to UT Austin by the provided deadline.
\Throughout your CAP year, it is crucial you follow all of the specified guidelines, limitations, and requirements. While there are CAP advisors that will assist you, they are not always reliable. UT Austin provides little to no help in making sure CAP students are on the right track, so it is your individual responsibility. The biggest trend I see amongst CAP students is people who fail to read the agreement and accidentally void their contract. If you make sure to read all of the details and stay up to date, you will be fine. I recommend getting to know your advisor well and building a strong relationship with them. Schedule meetings with them often and don't be afraid to advocate for yourself. If there's something you have questions about or concerns you might have, bring them up and be persistent. UT Austin is one of the top public universities in the country and admissions are naturally extremely competitive, so the CAP program only exists for students who are extremely set on attending. It is designed to weed out the students who will most likely not be a good fit at UT, but if you are committed, it should be a relatively straightforward process and you'll be on the Forty Acres in no time!*

I selected UTSA due to its campus life and closeness to Austin. I have a few friends participating in the CAP program at UT Arlington and they have told me that it's been difficult finding other CAP students there. That's about all I can say in regard to the CAP experience at UT Arlington. I just completed my first semester at UTSA and could not be happier with my decision. There is a large community of CAP students, so I've had no trouble meeting people. My professors have been extremely great and the campus is very nice. There are tons of amenities on campus, from the rec center to the wide variety of food options (Chick-Fil-A, Subway, Einstein Bagels, Starbucks, Smoothie King, etc.). While I can't wait to be a longhorn, my time as a roadrunner will always hold a special place in my heart. I've grown particularly fond of UTSA in my short time here because of its close-knit community. The city of San Antonio really rallies around the school, which is a comforting feeling and a fun experience. Not to mention how far their football program has come within the past few years. The games at the Alamodome have such a special energy, unlike anything I've experienced! Plus, all of the games are free for UTSA students. A lot of CAP students even end up electing to stay at UTSA, so rest assured that it's still a great school where you can have a positive experience. I urge you to enter your CAP year with an open and excited mind. Put yourself out there, join clubs, and attend events! The first week of the fall semester was filled with fun events. The night before classes, there was tons of live music and fireworks on campus! UTSA even rents out Six Flags for one day, free for all students and faculty.

I know it's easy to feel impatient or even frustrated with your situation at times. Trust me, we have all experienced this at some point during the year. But my time at UTSA has been truly memorable. Try not to go about your time at UTSA (or whichever system school you end up at) feeling "above" the regular students. I've seen a few CAP students here that want nothing to do with UTSA and it's pretty disappointing. The people around them and their professors can sense their entitlement and it's just not the type of energy I recommend bringing. This university is a great institution that has tons of character and unique opportunities!

I cannot speak much about the dorms, as I opted to live in an off-campus apartment, but they are what you would expect. Typical college dorms. I have been inside every dorm hall and I personally think Alvarez is the nicest. However, it seems like most people prefer Chaparral Village due to the dorms being more apartment-style. There is also a nice swimming pool and hot tub in Chaparral Village if that's something you think you'd enjoy, but it's open to all students from any dorm hall. If you do choose to attend UTSA and have a car, I highly recommend bringing it. The biggest difference between UT Austin and UTSA is the walkability. While the campus itself is walkable, you will most likely want to leave campus, and it's impossible without a car. I know there is an extensive bus system, but I prefer the reliability of having my own car. If you are spending a year in San Antonio, you might as well take advantage of it and explore! There is a lot to do and bringing your car will allow you that freedom, especially for visiting home during breaks.

One important factor to consider is that UTSA and UT Arlington require CAP students to complete their first two courses over the summer semester. You can choose to take them online or in person. I took both online and they were extremely easy. Although it may be irritating at first, it means you only have to take three courses during the fall which is really beneficial. You then take five courses in the Spring. Also, be aware that UTSA does not allow CAP students to accept their merit-based scholarships.

Throughout your CAP year, UT Austin will reach out to you a number of times. The school will email you around November to confirm your major choices, and then again in April with a few reminders. You must send your freshman transcript to UT Austin BY the deadline, otherwise, you will not be able to transfer. This is extremely important.

One last piece of advice is that if you plan on living off-campus once you get to UT, I strongly recommend figuring out your living situation for Austin during the fall semester of your CAP year. Ideally, you should aim to sign your lease before the Spring semester. My roommate and I signed our lease for Austin in September. By doing this early, you ensure that you'll secure an apartment and may even find some nice deals to save cash!

I've seen some applicants worried about any stigmas surrounding CAP students and to that, I'll say this: Most of my friends are at UT and many of them don't even know what the program is. They've told me that once you're at UT, nobody is concerned about where you came from and that CAP students are treated like any other transfer student. While CAP students can occasionally be the butt of a few jokes at UT, none of them are in bad taste. Don't take it too seriously! When I initially toured UT, even our tour guide was a former CAP student. Anyone who would seriously judge you for being a CAP student simply isn't worth the time of the day. A lot of my friends at UT have even told me that many people respect CAP students for their commitment to attending UT. Ultimately, if you really see yourself as a longhorn, then go for it! Spending a year working hard to fulfill the requirements is admirable and you can feel proud knowing you earned your place at UT.

I hope this post will be of help to any high school seniors out there who received a CAP offer and are confused about what it means. I tried my best to include all of the information that I wish I had known at the time. I'd be happy to answer any and all questions you might have. Remember to go easy on yourself and trust that you will end up where you are supposed to be. Hook 'em and Birds Up!

I would tinker out the melodies of scores from movies like Star Wars and Top Gun. That lead to tinkering out my own pieces. Between age 5 and 8, I was Elvis Presley for Halloween twice, and sang/lip-synced "Blue Suede Shoes" at my school talent show. When I was 12 I bought my friend's bass and started learning lines from my favorite bands at the time, "Rage Against The Machine" and "The Red Hot Chili Peppers". That is also when I joined the school band where I played bass clarinet. At 14 I started an 8 piece ska/punk/swing band with some friends who were also in the school band. We called it "Who's Your Daddy?". I played bass, my brother played tenobaritone sax, and we also had drums, electric guitar, Trombone, Trumpet, Alto Sax, and a Lead Singer. I love music. I get a kick out of creating music that I enjoy, and I get even more stoked when other people like it too.

Result - STL wins by 49.01
Probably the most accurate preseason prediction we will ever see, this game wasn’t close and even the GM of the Volcanoes was waving the white flag well before the game started. Opting to not pick up a QB in free agency, Hawaii went into the game only using wildcat formations, and still did better than two teams this week. Due to that, their running game and short route, tight end, game did superb, while the receivers left a lot to be desired. But such is to be expected without a QB in the lineup, expect things to bounce back for them once their QBs come off of mandatory rest. Meanwhile, St. Louis is still staying consistently good, trying to keep fans hopeful despite the first losing streak in franchise history over the past two weeks, and getting right back on track with another win.
MEX (4-3) @ SC (6-1)
Preseason prediction - SC wins by 13.46
Result - SC wins by 3.52
Danny Dimes did a thing, but the rest of the team wasn’t keeping up enough with him, falling just shy of 4 points to the current #1 seeded team. This previous Cario Cup winning team might have some spunk left in them if they can keep pace like that with the top teams in the league. Meanwhile for the Ducks, their QB quality is improving steadily while the running backs are keeping defenses honest. They have the potential to go all the way this year with this strategy.
NW (4-3) @ DDN (3-4)
Preseason prediction - NW wins by 8.25 (Close Game)
Result - NW wins by 35.85
Despite not having a backup QB active on game day, the Hoes still outclassed the Rangers in every aspect. Gallup and MAndrews had uncharacteristically bad games, but the rest of the team helped support them in an off week to take a commanding lead after the first half. Meanwhile, on the Rangers side, there has only ever been one player who got an initial contract of $8, and 7 weeks into that 8 year contract, that player is already looking like one of the biggest busts in recent memory. Tom Brady has been a shell of himself so far in the season, and there’s no hope of that improving unless the Rangers sell their 2026 1st round pick for another stud wide receiver.

Result - ABQ wins by 45.25
It was a boring game. Brooklyn followed Hawaii’s lead and didn’t even roster a full starting lineup, and Albuquerque looked lost without Cousins and Diggs in the lineup due to mandatory rest. Move along.

Result - LNC wins by 44.02
It’s rare that we look back at a team and consider the sub 130 point games to be the fluke, and not the 170+ point games. Lincoln was dominant once again, keeping the brand new division leader from holding onto the division lead for longer than a week, as they came within striking distance of the division lead themselves. Burrow and the running game were an unstoppable force, and unfortunately for the Storm, they were not an immovable object, as they got steamrolled every time Lincoln had the ball. There’s not much left to be improved upon for the Johnsons, with the exception of maybe some better depth at receiver, but that can be expected when Jefferson, Davis, and Smith were all on mandatory rest the same week.

POWER RANKINGS

1. St Louis Clydesdales 5-2 ( 1 / 2 / - )~~ Halfway through the season and the Clydes remain atop the Power Rankings, though not atop the Alliance. St. Louis was dealt a serious blow against their thumping of Hawaii as RB Breece Lightning went down with a season-ending ACL injury. Expect the team to lean more on their WR room in Flex formations as they attempt to find their groove in the back half.
2. Northwoods Hodags 4-3 ( 2 / 4 / +1 )~~ The Hoes reclaimed the lead in the crowded Interior at the halfway point while also picking up their 30th regular season win of all-time (second to St Louis' 37). With Lincoln, OKC, and Albuquerque all sporting matching records, Northwoods only moves up thanks to 12pt, 43pt, and 129pt leads respectively. Things do look shaky in the QB room as Mahomes goes to mandatory rest and Winston and Russell Wilson are nursing injuries. So long as the rest of the deep offense can tread water against Mexico City in week 8 then expect the defending champs to stay on course so long as they can keep Patrick in the QB slot and play the match ups in their SF.
3. Swansea City Ducks 6-1 ( 1 / 5 / -1 )~~ If the Alliance leaders are feeling disrespect for landing 3rd in the rankings and moving down after a win, then wait until you see the opening line against Albuquerque in week 8. City finds themselves as early dogs in their upcoming trip to the desert, which will be a major test to see if this squad is for real or has just played their schedule well. Metrics behind the scenes suggest the latter, as Swansea sits 6th in points and 7th in MaxPts.
4. Lincoln Johnsons 4-3 ( 2 / 4 / +2 )~~ Only 12pts out of 1st in the Interior and 2nd in MaxPts, don't look now but the Johnsons might be finally putting it together! On a week when Justin Jefferson, Gabe Davis, and DeVonta Smith were sidelined for rest and Robbie Anderson laid a fat egg in the lineup, Lincoln still managed to reach their highest score ever since leaving New Jersey! Joe Burrow, Rhamonster Stevenson, and Josh Jacobs are absolute fire in the backfield and if this team can at least keep competitive in the TE room with Hockenson and Everett, we may be talking about the Johnsons deep into December.
5. Oklahoma City Storm 4-3 ( 3 / 6 / - )~~ It only took half the season, but for the first time in 2022, the Storm stay put in the rankings. The last team to ping-pong every week finally feels found out sitting at 5th. OKC is not far behind in the Interior logjam and following a major trade for QB Matthew Stafford now has their QB and SF slots on lockdown with no mandatory rest necessary. The next 5 weeks feature favorable tilts with HI, ABQ, MEX, and BKN with a trip to the defending champs smack in the middle. It's not out of the realm of possibility for the Storm to have a strong back half and claim the bye out of the Interior.
6. Dunedin Rangers 3-4 ( 1 / 7 / -2 )~~ Fans are not happy down under and neither are the rankers (outside of Nate and his drunk 1). The offense has gotten over the hump of Adams and Kupp's mandatory rest, but now is without Justin Herbert in week 8. Tom Brady and Derek Carr haven't inspired anyone lately in the QB position, and the TE room is currently tapping out at a ceiling of slightly-below-the-middle. The RB room is top heavy and the only saving grace is that the schedule was heavily frontloaded for the Rangers. That said, plenty of superstitious folks feel like Dunedin is destined to hand Brooklyn their first (and perhaps only) win on the season. Even with a soft schedule ahead, faltering to the Gorillas in week 8 might mentally break this team.
7. Albuquerque Roadrunners 4-3 ( 5 / 8 / +1 )~~ Coming to midseason at 4-3 is about at expectations for the Roadrunners who are perfectly on pace for a third consecutive wildcard berth. While the whole of the starting lineup feels nicely at or above average, the utilization of the RB room for almost exclusively passing is a fun twist given the franchise's namesake. While Geno Smith has been a diamond in the rough in 2022, there are certainly some fans who would love to see a push from the Front Office to go after a higher ceiling QB to get the ball to Diggs, CMC, and company. Then again, maybe that's just FOMO after seeing division rival OKC land Stafford.
8. Mexico City Sundragons 4-3 ( 5 / 8 / -1 )~~ Believe it or not, the best place in the Alliance right now may be Mexico City. The Sundragons have a young roster that looks ready for a rebuild, yet are at 4-3 with a path to the playoffs. Should they get a few lucky breaks in their upcoming gauntlet of NW, DDN, SC, OKC, STL, and DDN the team can leverage their 2023 1st for pieces needed to get over the hump. If they decide to pack it in and drive the tank off a cliff, they have bargaining chips in Deshaun Watson and Devin Singletary who could help a contender this year.
9. Hawaii Volcanoes 1-6 ( 5 / 8 / - )~~ Look, we're not here to give unsolicited advice. We're just humble reporters here at Around the Alliance. But Hawaii, listen up. You are going to be 3-11 come January. You'll probably beat Brooklyn in Week 10 and the Ducks will be playing your Ridder-strategy in Week 9 but with their entire offense. You have Knox, Schultz, Sutton, and Henderson all on expiring contracts. Henry and Godwin are both expensive players, on the backside of their careers, with 1 more year under contract. You may not be able to out-tank the Canadian Commander, but there's not reason you shouldn't be entering July with only one single extra 2nd round pick. You're a sneeze away from the Legacy low score. Pack it up and let your fans hope.
10. Brooklyn Gorillas 0-7 ( 9 / 9 / - )~~ The Gorillas thought they had a shot this week when it sounded like CMC might have been less involved than previously anticipated, but instead Brooklyn put up the lowest score in UFFA history. Brooklyn has 5 of the first 20 picks in July already in the war chest. With 5 of their remaining 7 games against DDN, STL, NW, LNC, and OKC I'd say the battle plan is working for this tank, but how low of a Legacy Score will fans accept in the name of "the process"?

• Dunedin: Waking from a dream about the weekend only remember it's Monday, oh CRAP it's actually Wednesday but you are so behind that you wish it was Monday - Yeah, that ain't a good feeling to have after those expectations.
• Hawaii: Checking the fridge when you just looked 20 minutes ago - Why do you keep looking? You aren't hungry, you're bored. Nothing magically appeared. Stop checking and either do something about the fridge contents or your boredom.
• Lincoln: Whooping your nephew on COD after warning him you're better than he thinks - You don't have to say "I told you so," you get to say "I told you so!"
• Mexico City: Bracing for a cold toilet seat only for it to be lukewarm - Sure, it's not a painful experience like what you imagined, but there is something a bit unsettling about it. Just like how the winning record thus far doesn't hurt, but aren't you supposed to be rebuilding?
• Northwoods: Waking up with a stiff back after jumping on the trampoline - Boy that sure was fun jumping! Haven't done that in ages. Then your body reminds you that having all that fun comes with a cost. You can stand the pain, maybe pop some ibuprofen to help, but still those games ain't as easy as they once were.
• Oklahoma City: Facebook memories that lead to a wormhole - Some feel good vibes, but also some reminders that you don't really want to relive and shoot now I'm 15 minutes deep into that period of life.
• St Louis: Your latte is exactly what you order, except it's iced and you wanted hot - It's not big. I still like the flavor. If it was hot, I probably would burn myself. Yeah, it's chilly outside too, but it doesn't bother me that my drink is cold too. Really. I can handle change just find. No reason to freakout over this one departure from expectation. Oh, wow, my drink is gone already? That ice really takes up a lot of room. Hmmm, well I'm not worried. Theses things happen. Surely that was enough caffeine to get through the day! The Roadrunners of UTSA aren't quite having the same kind of success they had last season when attaining the first double-digit win total and ranking in The Associated Press' Top 25. However, the Roadrunners aren't doing too shabby, either. The offense struggled to replace all-time rusher RB Sincere McCormick, and took a little while to jell, but not things are back on the rails and it is full steam ahead. UTSA has scored 31 or more points in each of the past three games, and five of six games overall.
FIU pulled off a shocking 21-7 win at New Mexico State on Oct. 1, winning outright as a 16.5-point underdog. It was even more shocking since it came on the heels of a 73-0 loss at Western Kentucky in the conference opener. However, the Panthers reverted back to their losing ways with a 33-12 setback to UConn last week at Riccardo Silva Stadium, slipping to 2-3 SU/1-4 ATS, while the UNDER has now cashed in three of the past four.

I had a post from a week ago that got a lot more attention than I thought it would, so in case folks are wondering how I'm settling into S. 1st and Dittmar:
1) My wife and I have now eaten at every food truck at the Thicket. We love them all, but Reem's blew us away. I spent a couple of months in Jerusalem a while back, and Reem's is as good as anything I had there. Next on our list are Tacos Rico, Hawaii Nei, and the taqueria inside the Texaco.
2) Last Stand Brewing Tuesday night trivia is super fun! Pitchers, pizza, and trivia are a great way to spend a weeknight.
3) Early this morning we were wandering around before it got too hot. Along the way, we encountered a guy who was squatting and chatting with a stray cat. He pulled a prescription pill bottle out of his pocket, and it was full of cat food. He sprinkled some on the sidewalk, looked up at us, said "Good morning!" and went back to chatting with the cat. That guy is kind of my hero now.
4) Last week, we went to the Orange Theory down by Slaughter and S. Congress because my wife was interested in a membership. While we were there, a lady who appeared to be not fully in her right mind walked in, went right past the desk, and into the back where the bins or cubbies are. A few minutes later there was a commotion and one of the trainers was chasing her out of the back toward the front door. They yelled at each other in the lobby for a while, the not-all-there lady eventually invited the trainer, "Do you wanna strip search me?!" then pulled up her shirt and exposed herself for all the world to see. The trainer eventually let her go (without strip searching her). It turns out that the not-all-there lady made off with some cash and someone's new phone. My wife now has a membership with me at Gold's Gym.
5) We saw the bats. It was awesome!
6) There was a roadrunner in my front yard this afternoon. A friggin’ roadrunner! It was every bit as majestic as I imagined.

I've just finished reading the first 30 pages of a 1,687 page thread on an appraiser's forum that spans 2006-2015 where appraisers are passionately debating about whether or not they are in a housing bubble and whether or not it will crash.
As I started reading I was struck by how eerily familiar many of the comments/arguments were. I decided to copy & paste particularly relevant comments as a snapshot for what sentiment was like at that moment in time.
I organized the quotes into 3 categories:

• people who adamantly deny they are in a bubble or that there will be a crash
• people who are calling for either a crash or a severe correction
• general observations that seem relevant to today

When necessary, I edited comments for brevity and corrected misspellings but I included the name of the poster and the post # with each quote so that people can go directly to the thread and read the comments in full. There was a fair amount of off-topic chit chat that I cut if I deemed it irrelevant. The bolding is mine.

However, the housing markets have peaked, borrowing is slowing, and spending will soon slow as the economy slows. Look for the Fed to tighten again 25bp in May & then move into a holding pattern (too optimistic?). Look for them to cut 25bp in the 4th quarter & 50bp in the 1st quarter of '07' (now that IS optimistic isn't it?). Synopsis?: No Bubble (Bubble-Heads are finally starting to disappear after 5 years & counting as their silly predictions have failed to materialize). March 26: “Brad Ellis stated above that although new construction is down 10%+, existing home sales are up 5%. Moh answered that question. That is the natural pattern of a bursting bubble. First, prices stop going up and so the new construction speculators get out. Then the speculators start dumping their stock of existing housing because there is no incentive to hold them but a big incentive to sell them off. An indication of this would be a declining average selling price for existing houses and increasing marketing periods, exactly what was stated in the news article. Once the fever starts the stampeed will begin. Another little clue in the article: The non real estate part of the economy is doing well. The upward movement of interest rates has already started and no body knows when it is going to stop. When the prices of residential properties are so high that less than 10% of a local market's population earn enough to buy, what difference does it make how much immigration is occurring or how many "jobs" are being created? Of those jobs that pay that well, an even smaller fraction can be considered relatively stable. That doesn't help anything. Now if our economy were creating a lot more high-wage jobs and there were prospects for getting the average wages up where 20% or more of the population could afford the current prices, I'd call those prices pretty sustainable. I think we are going to have a very flat market, which is really not all bad. We have had areas that have 50%+ increases in the last two years. I ran an analysis about 2 months ago and less than 2% of the listed properties were affordable to the average income in the market. We are way too spendy for what we have to offer in corresponding wages. There is almost no industry or jobs, all service and retired people with mostly minimum wage jobs ($7.50 in Oregon). Average income is around $29,000 per year. No way could you afford the home prices in this area on that money alone. The small increase in interest rates has had a tremendous impact on sales. Until October of last year, almost no price reductions and everything that was listed sold, usually with back offers and often over list price. Now, on a typical day we have around 40 to 50 new listings, close around 15-20, pending 15-20, Expire 10+, and price reductions on 25-35 per day.” The Dog #51
