Pennsylvanian fans, a little help!
So I decided to do some research about where Rosewood would be in real life. After a few days, give or take, of research I think (not sure) Rosewood is supposed to be set in Delaware County? They mentioned places like Brookhaven being nearby (which is in Delaware) and the way they talk about other places checks out. For instance, Aria says Mike is all the way up in Harrisburg and Harrisburg is in Dauphin County which is about Northwest of Delaware County (I think; I'm not sure if this map is accurate). Another clue was in season 4, the episode with Hector the creepy mask guy, Alison in a flashback is looking for the quickest way to route 30, the way the guy talks about it gave me the impression it was nearby so I did some digging and it turns out Route 30 is along the main road of the Main Line towns (which the books say Rosewood is on-A LOT).
Am I right or not? If there are any fans from Pennsylvania or that region in particular can you chime in please? Thanks.

2023.06.04 18:47 Sweetilicious Toxic Hospitality Culture

For context 6 kasi kaming magkakapatid tapos senior citizen na parents ko. Tapos pumunta kasi yung family ng pamangkin ng tatay ko from their province dito sa manila. May 3 anak sila.
Wala rin akong say kasi student and anak lng ako.

So recently, nagbirthday ako and I decided na itreat yung family ko sa isang hotel buffet.

2023.06.04 13:40 Isabellemnl Cleanest public restrooms in Manila

Saw this fb group once where people share tips on where to go for public restrooms in Manila. As in yung super linis at may bidet pa. 😅
Although hotels are already a given, the cleanest, non-hotel restroom I’ve seen is at the SM premier lounge in Megamall. You could literally fit a single bed inside and still have wiggle room. It smells like a spa as well. This is just for one customer ha.
Where else can we go?

2023.06.04 12:07 WeirdHidden_Psycho 3 years unemployed. Malapit na sumuko sa buhay.

Hello everyone! I just want to ask if is it really this hard to find a job under the Hospitality industry?
I'm a college graduate, almost cum laude way back in college. I have working experience here in the Philippines and also in the Middle East. Then pagbalik ko dito is nagwork ako sa isang kilalang coffee shop until 2020, just days before the pandemic started. Sobrang achiever ako sa work, overpassionate to the point na binansagan na ko ng manager ko na "goal-digger" daw ako at super taas ng standards. After that, sobrang hirap na makahanap ng work. Sobrang hirap na hirap ako kasi I'm not pretty enough, I don't have a clear skin, let alone my not so tall height (5'3) for our industry. Wala ding tumatanggap sakin sa corporate world or back office dahil wala daw akong experience dun so, pano ako magkaka work? Pano magkaka work ang isang gaya ko kung hindi ako bibigyan ng chance to prove that I have the knowledge, to the basic and intermediate level atleast and that I am always willing to learn. Di rin naman madali na tumambay lang sa bahay for 3 years now. Nakakalungkot lang isipin na, most of the employers na napag apply-an ko and mga nainterview ako eh may doubts na kung marunong ba daw ako mag computer or to use Microsoft Applications kasi galing daw ako sa coffee shop and gumagawa lang daw ako ng kape? I don't know if ako ba yung may problema kasi mahina pag intindi ko or sila dahil wala silang alam sa industry na pinanggalingan ko? If any of you here na makakabasa nito and mga kapwa ko barista/ex-barista dyan, anong maiisip nyo?
Actually, we're not just baristas. Even before we learn how to make your favourite drinks, huge manuals ang pinapabasa samin. Manuals about Store Operations, QASA, Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting, etc. Tungkol sa negosyo, safety and security, first aid ops, pati pagkukumpuni ng mga machines na trabaho ng mga engineers dyan. Binibigyan din kami ng projects every quarter or yearly about Marketing Strategies & Promotions, Inventory & Ordering, Deployment (manpower), QASA, etc and lucky ako na naikot at nahawakan ko lahat ng yun without failing any internal and outside audits bago pa man ako nag resign. So marunong ba ako mag computer, email, micro office applications? Marunong ba daw ako gumamit ng printer? Ng fax machine? What do you think? NO. Then imagine pano ako nakakapag pasa ng email sa kanila? Nagcocompose pa ko ng personal message with my resume attached in each company na sakop parin ng Hospitality and Tourism Industry, yet may pagdududa parin kung marunong ba daw ako mag computer.
It's an international company na may branch sa Malate Manila. Nainterview na ko over the phone then pinapunta ako sa office nila after a week for an exam daw and interview sa hr manager so, go ako syempre. Then nung last interview na with my supposed to be "boss", I thought everything is going well and smooth kasi nga maganda naman yung usapan and mararamdaman mo agad kasi kapag bagsak kana. Then came his last question. He said, "You 28, soon to be 29. Why you single? No kids? No husband?" (Excuse the grammar, Malaysian national kasi & as long as nandun naman yung thought, walang problema sakin.) So of course, I answered with respect kahit na sobrang personal na nung tanong na yun. I told him honestly that I don't have any plans yet on settling down, getting married and having my own child kasi sobrang hirap ng buhay ngayon and di ko pa kaya. Then bigla nalang sya sumimangot. Bumagsak bigla yung mukha nya tapos umiling iling.
I tried to ask for an update from them 1 week after nung interview ko pero ni ha ni ho wala silang reply. Sana man lang sumagot sila kahit bagsak ako kasi lagi talaga ako nanghihingi ng feedback about my interview dahil gusto kong maimprove ko yung sarili ko. Kaso wala. Nag prepare ako ng sobra for that interview, nagresearch ako about the company, and yung magiging work ko sana, etc pero ano?
Ako lang ba hirap makahanap ng work ngayon under the Hospitality & tourism industry? Any suggestions po sa makakabasa nito? Thank you guys 😭
edit: Thanks so much for those who reco BPO. Sad to say guys na, bc of my weak lungs, my pulmo never allowed me to work in a setting na continuous puyat ako. Either puyat everyday then tegi agad after months. LOL but true.

2023.06.03 20:28 Successful-Laugh-459 Planning to move in with gf because booking a room in hotel is so expensive

3 months palang kami ng gf ko and every time na magkikita kami lagi kaming nagccheck in (most of the time sa Sogo and once thru OYO). Okay naman sana kaso napapadalas din ang gastos, paying for the hotel and food pero minsan 50/50 naman kami sa gastos. Recently I came up with an idea na why not magrent nalang kami ng apartment around Manila city. My gf lives in Sta Ana working in Makati at ako taga QC at QC din ang workplace. I came up with that idea para di na need magbayad ng room with a limited time lang. Gusto namin talaga magkaroon ng quality time together kaya I think its best for us to live together in one house.
Uuwi padin sya sa bahay nila maybe 3 or 2 times a week. I'm currently staying at my parents house. 50/50 kami sa gastos if ever matuloy. Sa S*x naman.. yeah kasama yun pero aware naman kami na siguro after two weeks magkakasawaan din kami or magiging madalang nalang. We just want to spend quality time with each other since there will be instances na idedeploy sya sa ibang country for business so habang nandito pa sya sa Pinas, we could spend more time.

2023.06.03 17:55 NotAmusedDad Doctor weighing in

So I'm a physician that has been kept up at night because of similarities between myself and John.
I never worked in cassville, but I've worked in a lot of the other small towns in the Missouri / Arkansas / Southeastern Oklahoma area. And I've also been subject to irrational child support and maintenance demands from this area as well.
A lot of these small towns and small hospitals are very rewarding to work in, both in terms of professional satisfaction and financially. There is quite a bit of subsidization by the government to keep clinics and hospitals open, to the point where at a rural health clinic you might literally get $78 for a Medicaid patient that you might make $14 on in a city. But, you also get the chance to do a lot more procedures and Hands-On stuff. Whereas a family doctor in the city might just see coughs and colds all day, in this area they may deliver babies or do vasectomies in the office at 500 bucks a pop. And, especially if you live in the town, you become kind of the Old country Doctor affecting the lives of many of your neighbors, and are part of the community.
It's a lot of fun, and financially rewarding. I always drew in the top 1% of specialty specific physician earnings, as did my colleagues. So John's crypto involvement notwithstanding, there is a lot of money involved, and the amounts cited are not unusual.
But the lifestyle can be brutal. You're on call most of the time, and hiring partners or even getting replacement coverage to go on a vacation can be very difficult. Therefore, a lot of facilities rely on travel physicians, which John may or may not have been. A lot of the smaller facilities also don't have on call rooms anymore, so it's not unheard of for doctors to drive a couple of hours to a travel location, or have an RV to sleep in in order to save on hotel fees in the like, even though travelers get more compensation on average.
So bottom line there, even if you're making a crap ton of money you often don't get a chance to enjoy it. But whoever you're married to usually will... And doctors have a notoriously high divorce rate due to practical problems like not being available to their spouse due to 80 hour weeks, as well as personality conflicts and the like.
And that's where I found myself. I was married for about 10 years, and made the mistake of getting married young, which prevented both of us from not really knowing what we wanted in life, but also prevented me from seeing my ex-wife's mental illness, which manifested in her late twenties. Even though the stereotype is domestic violence against women, this was a case of someone with borderline personality disorder and delusional tendencies being emotionally as well as physically abusive against a man. One of her delusions was that, because her birth experience did not go the way she wanted it to, "her doctor raped her." Yes, it is as odd as it sounds, but unfortunately being someone who delivered babies, it was physically dangerous for me to be around her. And unfortunately due to my medical training, I saw it as an illness rather than a criminal or personal failure, and so I was not as assertive as I should have been in either getting her help, or enforcing boundaries.
Anyway, after a while we separated, and the ex-wife took my two children. Despite the history of abuse, because of the significant differential in our pay, I was ordered to pay about $10,000 a month in combined maintenance and child support. It wasn't that big of a deal to me at first, because I wanted to make sure the kids were taken care of, and I again was used to not being able to enjoy high earnings anyway due to the time commitment. But I had to continue to work to pay that. When I first got out of residency, my ex-wife would gaslight me into taking extra shifts, etc in order to " pay down student loans or get a jump start on the mortgage or start some investments," but looking back with a more mature vision, I should not have done that. I was exhausted all the time, to the point where it was potentially dangerous ( if you go 24 hours without sleep, your cognitive and physical abilities are at least as impaired as somebody that blows a point one on a breathalyzer. If I'm impaired enough that I should not be driving, I surely should not have taken care of patients). But even though I argued that, it became my "demonstrated earnings potential."
Unfortunately, and fortunately, two things then changed: I burned out, and financial obligations be damned, took a new job which paid a lot less. I am thankful that even though I was working potentially dangerously, I never had a bad outcome. But it would only be a matter of time, and I refused to put people at risk anymore.I also got engaged to a wonderful young lady.
Two consequences came from this, the first is that it set off my ex-wife to the point where she literally stalked my fiance, sending pictures of our house to her ex-husband, making threats against us to " ruin our lives" and even calling her work supervisor to get more information on her. Basically, anytime I made an appropriate motion in court, she would respond with an extra judicial retaliation. And what is most concerning is that as part of her borderline diagnosis, once she zeros in on somebody who she perceives to have slighted her, it's all or nothing, and she never stops. So, I've been having to deal with that.
But working through the divorce modification process and children's division courts has been a nightmare. In the rural circuit court system it usually takes at least 3 months to actually get an issue decided, and in the interim you have to make sure that you don't fall behind on payments and such. My new job, after taxes, would barely allow me to make the divorce payments, and did not even leave me enough to pay my $3,600 a month in medical malpractice insurance. So, I argued the fact that marital abuse notwithstanding, my ex-wife was capable of working, the amount of alimony I've already paid ( 7 years) in terms of years exceeds the reasonable and customary durations of payment, and the job that I had at the time of the divorce 7 or 8 years ago was a unicorn, and those positions just aren't available to switch to on a whim, and most importantly it is dangerous for me to continue working at that level. The response that the court gave was "if you're a professional blackjack player, you'd better make sure that you continue to have a lucky streak to meet your obligations."I am still fighting this, but in the meantime have had to exhaust investments and retirement funds just to keep up with child support and maintenance obligations.
And why? Because in Missouri, if you fall behind more than $3,000 or 3 months, whichever is less, you lose your professional license (you also have to be up to date on payments in order to renew it). And if you fall more than $5,000 behind, it's felony non-support, and a felony conviction would ensure that you essentially could never work as a doctor again. And although I understand the states aggressiveness for child support enforcement to prevent deadbeat dads, the reality is that it would take most people months to years to fall behind on those kind of numbers...But I would fall behind in a matter of days, and I presume that John could have as well.
And so, it is exceedingly easy to get into a cycle where you cannot pay your child support, but by not paying child support you're not able to work professionally at the job that allows you to pay the high level of child support. And it has been my experience that the courts have been rather indifferent even with significant circumstance changes.
So I don't know, maybe he had significant revenue from his crypto business, but I doubt it. Even with crypto dropping so much over the last few years, if there was an asset division a couple of months ago, a lot of that would probably have gone to his ex-wife, and if he was using that money to make money, he would not have access to that capital to continue that revenue source.
So, I have to conclude that the similarities between his case and my own experience, and that this happened just a little while after the child support ruling, I could easily see him getting into a cycle of despair, because there really is no way out if you were to get into that situation (my attorney and my fiance keep telling me that things will get better, but we're a year and a half into this now, and they have not, and my position continues to worsen). Combine that with the significantly elevated rate of suicide in physicians, and I think that's a likely explanation, and feel for him because I understand just how bad it is to go through that process and not see a way out due to a broken system (and before you ask, no I'm not suicidal, it's just a crappy situation).
Or, maybe he had a crazy ex-wife as well.
I do think it is odd that there was a second vehicle involved, and run through the scenarios in my mind. Sure, it could be a foul play or something else is going on situation, like a secret affair, or someone pointing a gun at him and telling him to get in and driving him away from town.
But, it's also equally likely that it was by his own volition, and the driver actually had no idea what he had planned whatever it was. It might have been someone he knew and trusted and met up with that gave him a ride (if he was a travel physician that usually drove an rv, he probably did not have a car of his own in town, and folks that I know like that are pretty good at asking friends to drive them to the next city over if they need to run an errand, and didn't want the hassle of driving the rv), or even getting an Uber or private taxi (there aren't any real taxi companies in these small towns, but a lot of private drivers provide long distance transportation for hire, particularly for Amish and Mennonite workers, so it really wouldn't be weird for him to hire somebody to drive him an hour away). So, a lot of doctors kill themselves, but a lot also tend to be smart in planning, and want to prevent the additional trauma to family members of discovering the body, or seeing a lethal wound. So there is a disproportionate number who simply "disappear," or who use unusual methods (a few years ago there was a trend amongst med students and doctors to use inert gas asphyxiation by helium). My gut feeling is that this is one such situation.
So yeah, i apologize for the trauma dumping, but I hope that it also may be illustrative of how something so routine and boring as working through a child support process when you're already overextended and mentally exhausted can actually be as dangerous and damaging as any nefarious crypto gang scenario.

I am currently on vacation and decided to visit the mall na few floors away lang from my hotel. I visited this sports apparel shop and noticed na isa lang ang nagbabantay. Good thing the guy assisted me quickly kahit medyo may tao because I was specific naman with the size that I need.
While he was very busy going in an out of the stock room, wala syang ibang kasama. Even sa cashier area, walang naka tao. Ang masama pa, walang "sensors" sa entry/exit so anyone pwedeng simpleng kumuha ng item and just get away with it.
While I was in front of the cashier, I noticed these two women roaming around. They were looking at me. Theyre even trying to move and touch the delivery boxes in front of the cashier booth for no reason. They kept on looking at me while I was busy checking the item that was handed to me.
Theyre really very suspicious with their movements and stares. Nung una dalawa lang sila, then theres this another person na biglang nag join sa kanila. So what I did, binagalan ko pag check sa item ko and tinitignan ko sila, in a way na para malaman nila na may nakatingin sa kanila at para makabalik na si guy sa pwesto nya.
The three women left. Nung nagbabayad na ako sa cashier I asked him if if hes the only one on duty. He said yes as the other one is on break. He said na good thing daw pinuna ko by looking/staring yung mga babae.
It pays to be very observant din talaga. Wala lang.

2023.06.03 05:18 hottiepinay31f Travelling to SG alone next month

Badly needed advice
I (30f) have been communicating with this guy (40m) for more than a year now and things are going great between us. He's a foreigner and he travels a lot due to the nature of his work.
So next month, he'll be in SG. Ito na yung pinaka malapit na mapupuntahan nya from PH due to work. He invited me to come over so we could finally meet so in other words, sagot nya lahat. Airfare, hotel, instant tour, etc. He will book everything for me.
Syempre on my part gustong gusto ko pumunta. Somehow I know delikado din pero I do really wanna see this guy. Pero the question is, hindi ba ako ma question sa immigration? Like are they going to ask kung sino nagbook ng ticket ko and yung hotel ko bakit ibang tao ang nag book?
First time ko to travel abroad on my own since dati naman kasi we travel in groups and all bookings are made here in PH.
Hope you guys could help me out on this. Thanks!

2023.06.03 02:42 Ok_Week_8836 Gusto ko iconfront ang papa namin na alam namin may kabit siya.

Ang hirap mamuhay ngayon honestly kasi mahal lahat. To give a context, hindi sa pagiging elitista, pero yung papa(63) ko may position sa company and ang sweldo niya is nasa 250K (hindi pa naka less ang tax nakita ko sa ITR niya will get to this later) and ako minimum wage as an associate for marketing and my sister around 20K for freelancing jobs. 6 kami sa bahay including isang kasambahay namin 2 minor (10,15) and isang college freshman (18)
Nag shshort kami sa budget since last year, dahil kulang pinapadala ni daddy and we know that he is spending it on his girl, minsan kahit pagsamahin sweldo namin ni ate kulang. We know that we should be able afford the basic commodities like rent, groceries, tuition and all that.
Me and my sister tried to suggest kay daddy na baka pwede malipat kami outside of metro manila to afford at pagkarsiyahin pinapadala niya, ayaw niya, pero ayaw din niya dagdagan pinapadala niya.

2023.06.02 22:52 Perdendosi Travel advice / Links?

Hello New Zealanders! (Can I call you kiwis?)
I have travel questions for you. If this isn't the right subreddit, or there's a wiki or travel advice thread that I missed, please let me know.
I have the great fortune to have just booked an extraordinarily cheap flight to Auckland from the U.S. using airline miles. (It's on Delta -- less than 50,000 miles round trip for travel in November, late January, Febuary, and parts of March -- happy to share the specifics if anyone wants.)
My family and I will be there over the U.S. Thanksiving holiday -- Nov. 19 (that's when we land--we leave the US on the 17th) through Nov. 25 (that's when we depart, and, thanks to the International Date Line, also when we get home!). Not a lot of time, I know, but really all we can spare in that part of the year.
My family is small -- it's just my wife and I, and my 7-year-old daughter. We like all sorts of vacations, from wine tasting (okay, maybe not the kiddo) to relaxing beach vacations, to nature hikes and camping, to city life and culture. We also love food, though the wife is a vegetarian and the kiddo doens't like seafood. We live in Salt Lake City, Utah, so we have the mountain life at home, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't be interested in exploring in NZ, too. I guess the only think we can really cross off the list is anything Lord of the Rings related, as my family isn't really into Tolkien and haven't seen the movies (though I have). My wife travels internationally for work a few times a year, and I'm hopeful that this won't be our only visit to your awesome country, but I think we have to assume that this will be a once-in-a-lifetime trip for us.
I've looked through the generic New Zealand travel sites, but don't have a really good feeling for what a reasonable itinarary looks like for our time there. Right now, I have the following questions:
1) Is it worth it to try to get to the South Island at all? Or should we just focus on stuff in the north. In other words, is there anything in the south that we absolutely can't miss, and worth the travel time and cost?
2) I was looking at a couple of sites that offer campervans or RVs at reasonable cost. We own an RV and are used to driving and sleeping in it. Is that a good way to explore the North Island? Are there ample places to park and/or campgrounds near cities or attractions? Or would staying in hotels and using public transit / taxis / car rentals be better? I'm pretty sure we don't want to stick just to Auckland, but on the other hand if driving a 6-8 meter campervan or RV around, and finding a place to park it while we're at attractions is going to be a huge hassle, then we'll consider alternatives.
3) For stuff to do, I'm fairly certain we'll want to check out Waitomo caves (my daughter, who's obsessed with nature, will want to check out the glow worms!) snorkel on Poor Knights Islands, and have a beach day (Hot Water Beach? some place else?). We might want to check out Waiheke Island, hike in Egmont National Park, and have a Maori experience at some place like Te Pa Tu, or take a whale watching or other cruise or ferry. Any thoughts on any of those activities? What should we do in Auckland? Is Wellington worth visiting? If we were to do something like a wine tasting, or want to hang out at a brewery, is that OK for kids? Are kids admitted to those places? Are there kids activities in pubs/breweries/wineries? What else should be on our bucket list?
(P.S. I got most of my ideas here... I don't know how interesting or reputable the site is: https://www.newzealand.com/us/feature/11-must-do-north-island-experiences/)
Thanks so much!

2023.06.02 19:11 SpeckOfDust_13 Are middle low cost (3M) subdivision houses worth it?

Kayo kamusta exp niyo?
