2023.05.31 16:15 igorcarbex16 Bully Soundtrack References & Similarities in Details...

https://preview.redd.it/ahl29u0mu73b1.jpg?width=453&format=pjpg&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=cc1b571612182aff5e4cef882d9095a7be6f2375
Hello Bully it's me again, The Bully soundtrack composed by the genius Shawn Lee is pretty rad, so as a music enthusiastic, i want to share this post for people really obsessed with the Bully songs like me, tried to include every song in the game like as puzzle pieces getting together with the greatest amount, most accurate and similar as possible in one sitting, with some help around the internet, personal discoveries and songs already mentioned for yourselves so thank you nonetheless, and sorry for the repetition. Unfortunately some will still be missing so "a little help"/hits for these unreferenced sounds are very welcome.
Some songs are pretty obvious but others looks well hidden, but that's the fun of it, not every song is a sample, they just sound alike or has interpolations.
I know it would be boring to reading all of this so also dedicated this YouTube playlist in details for, so that you can check thoroughly for a more accurate comparison: 😎👍 - Have Fun! https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtZ1VivcLOsiTtYHUrK-xw8OHZZAeOzRf

·Bully Main Theme (Running Theme): Maniac - Michael Sembello, the synthesizer effect looks an interpolation of the xylophone effect used in the game.
·Overworld (Walking Theme) - The Phantom of the Opera Motion Picture Overture (this also resambles "echoes" by pink floyd but that peculiar melody is more predominant in this theme), Let's Ge Started (Bass Only) - Black Eyed Peas, it looks heavily inspired by Dario Argento movies (as the overall soundtrack).
·Here's to you Ms. Philips/Last Minute Shopping/Cook's Crush/Discretion Assured/Finding Johnny Vincent/Revenge on Mr. Burton "Part 1" (The Search): Sounds similar to "Tenant - Siouxsie And The Banshees", people often confuse this theme to "Cheating Time" but the track is named "Here's to you Ms. Philips" as does the mission, it also resembles a Giorgio Gaslini piece an italian jazz pianist or the american compositor Henry Mancini the creator of Pink Panther iconic theme.
·Panty Raid/Galloway Away/Cheating Time (Stealth): Love Theme From "The Godfather" or "Speak Softly, Love" or just The Godfather Theme from Nino Rota a renowned italian composer, written by Larry Kusik, also resembles the song "Hey by Pixies".

2023.05.28 04:51 Junior_Button5882 11 Terrifying-But-True Horror Stories Reported in the News - From fatal exorcisms to unexplained deaths and devil worship—these are some real-life nightmares.

A terrifying movie or book or show gets your blood pumping in the moment of consumption, sure—we covered our eyes in Squid Game with the rest of the world. But for the most part, you rest easy afterward knowing that what you've witnessed is fiction, deliberately spun up to creep you out. When the real world gets eerier than anything Stephen King could dream up, that's when you have every right to get a little scared of the dark.
Once in a while, a story of a dreadful disappearance, demonic possession, or devil worship will land in the local paper instead of a pulpy old paperback. We've rounded up the most unnerving real-life tales below. In honor of spooky season, here are eleven we can't stop thinking about.

The Axe Murder House

The Villisca Axe Murder House in Villisca, Iowa is a well-known tourist attraction for ghost hunters and horror lovers alike. The site of a gruesome unsolved 1912 murder, in which six children and two adults had their skulls completely crushed by the axe of an unknown perpetrator, was purchased in 1994, restored to its 1912 condition, and converted into a tourist destination. It costs $428 a night to stay at the old haunted home, where visitors always report strange paranormal experiences, such as visions of a man with an axe roaming the halls or the faint screams of children.
But in November of 2014, the haunting took a darker turn. Robert Steven Laursen Jr., 37, of Rhinelander, Wisconsin was on a regular recreational paranormal visit with friends when true horror struck. Per VICE:
His companions found him stabbed in the chest—an apparently self-inflicted wound—called 9-1-1, and Laursen was brought to a nearby hospital before being helicoptered to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said Laursen suffered the self-inflicted injury at about 12:45 a.m., which is around the same time the 1912 axe murders in the house began.
Laursen recovered from his injuries, but has never spoken publicly about what occurred that day. For Martha Linn, the owner of the home, the incident was very upsetting. "It's publicity, but it's not exactly the kind of publicity you desire to have. I don't want people thinking that when they come to the Villisca Axe Murder House something's going to happen that's going to make them do something like that.” The house remains open for tourist visits and overnight stays today.

The Haunted Doll

When you think of haunted dolls, it’s likely the creepy old Victorian-looking porcelain kind that springs to mind. None of which you probably have laying around. Still, don’t get too comfortable around any kids toys too soon, though: a Disney’s Frozen Elsa doll that was gifted for Christmas 2013 in the Houston area made headlines earlier this year when it seemingly became haunted.
Per KPRC2 Houston News:
The doll recited phrases from the movie Frozen and sang “Let It Go” when a button on its necklace was pressed.
“For two years it did that in English,” mother Emily Madonia said. “In 2015, it started doing it alternating between Spanish and English. There wasn’t a button that changed these, it was just random."
The family has owned the doll for more than six years and never changed its batteries. The mother says the doll would randomly begin to speak and sing even with its switch turned off.
The family decided to throw the creepy doll out in December of 2019. Weeks later, they found it inside a bench in their living room. “The kids insisted they didn’t put it there, and I believed them because they wouldn’t have dug through the garbage outside,” Madonia told KPRC2 Houston News.

At that point, Elsa ceased to sing the English rendition of “Let It Go” altogether, speaking only Spanish when pressed. The family then double-bagged the bizarre doll and placed it at the bottom of their garbage which was taken out on garbage day. They went on a trip shortly after, but when they returned, Elsa too had come back, and was waiting in the backyard of their home.
This time, the family mailed Elsa to a family friend in Minnesota, who taped the haunted doll to the front bumper of his truck. It doesn’t seem to have made its way back to Houston yet, as per Madonia’s latest February Facebook update on the creepy doll.

A Deadly Exorcism

In August 2016 in North London, 26-year-old Kennedy Ife began acting strange and aggressive following a pain in his throat. He reportedly bit his father, threatened to cut off his own penis, and complained of a python or snake inside of him before his family restrained him to a bed with cable ties and excessive force.
As the BBC reported:
“The family then set about attempting to ‘cure’ Kennedy through restraint and prayer over the next three days, the court was told.”
His brother, Colin Ife, told police:
“It’s clear that thing was in him, what we believed was a demon because it was not natural. It was clearly trying to kill him,” he said.
“We had to restrain him for himself. It was clear if we didn’t restrain him, he could have tried to harm people in our family.”
Kennedy Ife had been bound to his bed for three days without medical attention when his brother called emergency services, explaining that Kennedy Ife was complaining of dehydration. He appeared to have developed breathing issues, and was pronounced dead at 10:17 a.m.
As The Independent reported:
While police were at the house Colin Ife allegedly carried out an “attempted resurrection” by chanting and praying for Mr. Ife.
All seven of Kennedy Ife’s family members were accused of manslaughter, false imprisonment, and causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult. A post-mortem examination revealed over 60 wounds including a possible bite on Kennedy Ife’s body, and his father, Kenneth Ife, along with four of his brothers, sustained injuries as well.

The BBC reported:
Kenneth Ife told jurors he ordered his sons to take shifts and use "overwhelming force" but denied that an "association with cults, occults and secret societies" played any part in the death.
After a four day jury deliberation, all seven family members were cleared of charges on March 14, 2019.

Dead Animals in the Walls

When the Bretzuis family decided to insulate their home in Auburn, Pennsylvania in 2015, they discovered that it had already been—with scores of dead animal carcasses.
As Fox reported:
The dead animals were wrapped in newspapers from the 1930s and 40s and were among half-used spices, and other items.
After removing the items they sent hundreds of artifacts and carcasses to an expert in Kutztown.
The expert attributed the rotting animals in their walls to Pow-wow or Dutch magic, a ritual originating in the culture of the Pennsylvania Dutch to treat ailments and gain physical and spiritual protection. The Pennsylvania Dutch were a group of German-speaking settlers to Pennsylvania in the 1600 and 1700’s, and are often of Lutheran, Mennonite, or Amish faiths.
The Washington Post notes on the magic:
Many of the spells deal with the care of livestock, finding water, or the treatment of minor ailments, reflecting the conditions and concerns of early American settlers.
But powwow also has within it a tradition of darker spells, and even of such things as conjuring demons.
One notable ritual in their tradition is this hex to create loyalty in a dog:
To attach a dog to a person, provided nothing else was used before to effect it: Try to draw some of your blood, and let the dog eat it along with his food, and he will stay with you.
The mold found on the rotting carcasses in the Bretzuis home has caused illness among the family members, and they say that the odor hasn’t gone away.

Florida Devil Worshipping

Friends noticed that Danielle Harkins, a 35-year-old schoolteacher near St. Petersburg, Florida, started acting strangely in June of 2012, developing an interest in demonic rituals.
Soon after, she was arrested for abuse of seven of her former students, as the Tampa Bay Times reported:
Danielle Harkins told the kids they needed to rid their bodies of demons as the group gathered before dusk Saturday around a small fire near the St. Petersburg Pier. They should cut their skin to let the evil spirits out, police said she told the children. Then, they needed to burn the wounds to ensure that those spirits would not return.
When Harkins held a lighter to one teen's hand, wind blew the flame out, police said. That prompted her to douse his hand in perfume before setting it on fire. The boy suffered second-degree burns, police said.
Another teen was cut on the neck with a broken bottle, police said. Harkins used a flame to heat a small key, which she then used to cauterize the wound.
The police were notified because a friend of one of the students who participated in the ritual raised alarms. However none of the students themselves told their parents about the event or would comment following the arrest of Harkins for aggravated battery and child abuse.
NBC reported:
Investigators said they've spoken to Harkins, but she didn't spell out what type of religion would require such drastic measures.
"She hasn't informed us exactly what she was trying to accomplish with this," Puetz [of the St. Petersburg Police Department] said.

The Death of Elisa Lam

Elisa Lam was last seen on January 31, 2013 in the lobby of the Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. She was vacationing through the West Coast, documenting the trip on her blog, and checking in with her parents every day. On January 31 those calls stopped. Lam had vanished. Soon the police were involved and her parents arrived to help with the search.
They had nothing. That February, LAPD released elevator surveillance footage of Lam before her disappearance. The footage shows Lam behaving strangely in the elevator, appearing to talk with invisible people, peering around the corner of the door, crouching in the corner, and opening and closing the door. But what exactly is going on in this video raises more questions than answers. Theories range from psychotic episodes, to demonic possession, to unknown assailants just out of the camera's view:

Around that time, hotel guests started reported weird things happening with the Cecil Hotel water supply. As CNN reports:
Advertisement - Continue Reading Below
"The shower was awful," said Sabina Baugh, who spent eight days there during the investigation. "When you turned the tap on, the water was coming black first for two seconds and then it was going back to normal."The tap water "tasted horrible," Baugh said. "It had a very funny, sweety, disgusting taste. It's a very strange taste. I can barely describe it."But for a week, they never complained. "We never thought anything of it," she said. "We thought it was just the way it was here."
On the morning of February 19, a hotel employee climbed to the roof and used a ladder to investigate the hotel's water storage tanks. That's where authorities found the decomposing, naked body of Lam, whose personal items were found nearby. After an autopsy, her death was labeled accidental. NBC Los Angeles reported at the time about the strange circumstances in the hotel's past:
The tank has a metal latch that can be opened, but authorities said access to the roof is secured with an alarm and lock. The single-room-occupancy hotel has an unusual history. "Night Stalker" Richard Ramirez, who was found guilty of 14 slayings in the 1980s, lived on the 14th floor for several months in 1985. And international serial killer Jack Unterweger is suspected of murdering three prostitutes during the time he lived there in 1991. He killed himself in jail in 1994.In 1962, a female occupant jumped out of one the hotel's windows, killing herself and a pedestrian on whom she landed.
In February 2021, a Netflix doc called Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel explored Elisa's tragic case and the history of the "cursed" Cecil Hotel.

An Exorcism in Indianapolis

Last year, the Indianapolis Star published a lengthy report on a family terrorized by three children allegedly possessed by demons. The account of Latoya Ammons and her family tells disturbing stories of children climbing up the walls, getting thrown across rooms, and children threatening doctors in deep unnatural voices. It would seem like something straight out of a movie–a work of fantasy, except all of these accounts were more or less corroborated with "nearly 800 pages of official records obtained by the Indianapolis Star and recounted in more than a dozen interviews with police, DCS personnel, psychologists, family members and a Catholic priest."
One of the more chilling sections of the report includes a segment about the possessed 9-year-old:
According to Washington's original DCS report—an account corroborated by Walker, the nurse—the 9-year-old had a "weird grin" and walked backward up a wall to the ceiling. He then flipped over Campbell, landing on his feet. He never let go of his grandmother's hand.
Another segment of the piece reads:
The 12-year-old would later tell mental health professionals that she sometimes felt as if she were being choked and held down so she couldn't speak or move. She said she heard a voice say she'd never see her family again and wouldn't live another 20 minutes.

Utah Murder-Suicide

In September of 2014, a Utah teen returned to his home to find his parents and three siblings dead. "In a notebook, a 'to-do list' had been scribbled on the pages ... The list looked as if the parents were readying to go on vacation—items such as 'feed the pets' and 'find someone to watch after the house' were written," The Salt Lake Tribune reported. It appeared to be murder-suicide, but there was no suicide note, no prior indication that they would do this, no explanation. Police could not figure out why two parents would kill themselves and three of their four children.
For a year, no one knew exactly what happened to the family, or what would drive the parents to do something so unthinkable. In January, police released more chilling details in the case. According to accounts from family members and an investigation by police, the parents were driven by a belief that the apocalypse was coming and an obsession with a convicted killer. As the Washington Post reported:
Friends and family told police that the parents were worried about the "evil in the world" and wanted to escape a "pending apocalypse." But most assumed they just wanted to move somewhere "off the grid." Investigators also found letters written by Kristi Strack to one of the state's most infamous convicted killers, Dan Lafferty, who was convicted in the 1984 fatal stabbing of his sister-in-law and her 1-year-old daughter. According to trial testimony, he killed the victims at the order of his brother, Ron Lafferty, who claimed to have had a revelation from God. The story became a book called "Under the Banner of Heaven."Police said Kristi Strack became friends with Dan Lafferty, and she and her husband even visited him in prison.

The Phone Stalker

In 2007, ABC news documented a series of cell phone calls to families with terrifyingly specific death threats. The unidentified callers knew exactly what families were doing and what they were wearing.
The families say the calls come in at all hours of the night, threatening to kill their children, their pets and grandparents. Voice mails arrive, playing recordings of their private conversations, including one with a local police detective. The caller knows, the families said, what they're wearing and what they're doing. And after months of investigating, police seem powerless to stop them.
This went on with the Kuykenall family for months, who reported a caller with a scratchy voice threatening to slit their throats.
When the Fircrest, Wash., police tried to find the culprit, the calls were traced back to the Kuykendalls' own phones -- even when they were turned off.It got worse. The Kuykendalls and two other Fircrest families told ABC News that they believe the callers are using their cell phones to spy on them. They say the hackers know their every move: where they are, what they're doing and what they're wearing. The callers have recorded private conversations, the families and police said, including a meeting with a local detective.

"The Watcher"

After moving into their $1.3 million dream home, a New Jersey family started receiving creepy death threats from someone who identified themselves as "The Watcher." As CBS News reported earlier this year:
Advertisement - Continue Reading Below
Since moving in, the owners said they have received numerous letters from the mysterious person. "The Watcher" claimed the home "has been the subject of my family for decades," and "I have been put in charge of watching and waiting for its second coming," Castro reported. The new owners have several children, and other letters asked, "Have they found out what's in the walls yet?" and "I am pleased to know your names now, and the name of the young blood you have brought to me."
The family was forced to flee from their home and later filed a lawsuit against the previous owners.

Issei the Cannibal

In 1974, 24-year-old Wako University student Issei Sagawa allegedly followed a German woman to her home in Tokyo, Japan, broke into her apartment while she was sleeping, and attempted to cut a piece of flesh off her body to consume. When she awoke, she reportedly fought him and he was later captured by the police. According to a 2012 Vice documentary that covered Issei's bizarre story, he was mistakenly charged with attempted rape and his wealthy father paid the victim a settlement outside of court to have the charges dropped.
Seven years later, in 1981, he allegedly committed a murder in France—shooting and eating a fellow University student, Renée Hartevelt. Issei creepily documented the entire experience with photographs and he was captured by authorities once again while attempting to dump the rest of her body in the Bois de Boulogne lake. He was deported back to Japan and committed to a mental institution. For reason unknown, his psychologists in Japan declared that he was sane. Furthermore, a legal technicality involving the French government refusing to turn over the documents from his case meant that his murder charges were dropped completely. He checked himself out of the mental hospital and has reportedly been walking the streets as a free man ever since. Issei has even become a controversial celebrity, writing over 20 books. According to Japan Today, he most recently fantasized about an unnamed TV actress, saying:
"I'll catch a glimpse of her thigh and think, 'That sure looks tasty.' But I don't feel like I actually want to eat it. As I accomplished the act of cannibalism once, there's no meaning to maintaining the desire for it anymore. In my book, I wrote that it [human flesh] was tasty, but that was not really true; I'd much rather eat Matsuzaka (Kobe) beef. But because I'd desired to consume human flesh for so long, I'd managed to convince myself that it would necessarily be delicious."
Issei Sagawa was also referenced in the Rolling Stones song "Too Much Blood," with the lyrics reading: "And when he ate her he took her bones/To the Bois de Boulogne." He is currently 73 years old and continues to live in Kawaski City, Japan. To this day, no one knows why France did not allow Japan to give him a trial.

2023.05.24 21:18 Joadzilla Tina Turner: legendary rock’n’roll singer dies aged 83

Turner, who initially found fame in a turbulent musical partnership, became one of the biggest acts in the world as a solo artist and one of the defining pop icons of the 1980s
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/may/24/tina-turner-legendary-rocknroll-singer-dies-aged-83
Tina Turner, the pioneering rock’n’roll star who became a pop behemoth in the 1980s, has died aged age of 83 after a long illness.
She had suffered ill health in recent years, being diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and having a kidney transplant in 2017.
Turner affirmed and amplified Black women’s formative stake in rock’n’roll, defining that era of music to the extent that Mick Jagger admitted to taking inspiration from her high-kicking, energetic live performances for his stage persona. After two decades of working with her abusive husband, Ike Turner, she struck out alone and – after a few false starts – became one of the defining pop icons of the 1980s with the album Private Dancer. Her life was chronicled in three memoirs, a biopic, a jukebox musical, and in 2021, the acclaimed documentary film, Tina.
In a statement on Wednesday night, a representative said: “Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.”
In 2018, scholar Daphne A Brooks wrote for the Guardian: “Turner’s musical character has always been a charged combination of mystery as well as light, melancholy mixed with a ferocious vitality that often flirted with danger.”
Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock on 26 November 1939 and raised in Nutbush, Tennessee, where she recalled picking cotton with her family as a child. She sang in the tiny town’s church choir, and as a teenager talked – or rather, sang – her way into Ike’s band in St Louis: he had declined her request to join until he heard her seize the microphone during a Kings of Rhythm performance for a rendition of BB King’s You Know I Love You.
After her vocal talents became apparent, Ike gave her the name Tina Turner – and trademarked it in case she left him and he wanted to replace her in his act. He quickly became abusive: when Turner tried to leave the group early on after having got a sense of his mercurial character, he hit her with a wooden shoe stretcher.
“My relationship with Ike was doomed the day he figured out I was going to be his moneymaker,” Turner wrote in her 2018 biography My Love Story. “He needed to control me, economically and psychologically, so I could never leave him.”
She made her recorded debut under the name with the Ike and Tina Turner single A Fool in Love in July 1960, which broke the US Top 30 and started a run of respectable chart success. But it was their live performances that made them a sensation. Ike toured the Ike and Tina Turner Revue aggressively on the Chitlin’ Circuit – including in front of desegregated audiences, such was their commercial power. In 1964, they signed to Warner Bros imprint Loma Records, which released their first album to chart: Live! The Ike & Tina Turner Show.
In the second half of the 60s, the duo were courted by many of rock’s biggest names. Phil Spector produced the 1966 single River Deep – Mountain High; they supported the Rolling Stones in the UK and later the US, and stars including David Bowie, Sly Stone, Cher, Elvis Presley and Elton John came to their Las Vegas residency.
They were a chart-making, Grammy-winning force in the 1970s – a run that came to an end when Turner left Ike, who had been consistently violent and unfaithful, in 1976. Her last single with the group was Baby, Get It On, from the 1975 film adaptation of the Who’s rock opera Tommy, in which she starred as Acid Queen, a character of the same name of her second solo album.
In the divorce, finalised in 1978, Turner came away with just two cars and the rights to her stage name. “Ike fought a little bit because he knew what I would do with it,” she said in the documentary Tina.
Turner, who had already released two solo records continued pursuing a solo career, though it would take until she released her fifth album, 1984’s Private Dancer, for her to supplant the old image of the shimmying rock’n’roller – and escape premature relegation to the oldies circuit – with one of a powerful, mullet-sporting, leather-clad pop icon.
In the documentary Tina, she described Private Dancer as her debut. “I don’t consider it a comeback,” she said. “Tina had never arrived.”
Turner credited Buddhism and particularly the practice of chanting with positively affecting her life in the 1980s. Outside music, she starred in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome opposite Mel Gibson in 1985. She published her first memoir, the global bestseller I, Tina, in 1986, which was later adapted in to the 1993 film What’s Love Got to Do With It? starring Angela Bassett as Turner. In 1995, she sang the theme tune to the James Bond film GoldenEye.
Turner announced her retirement in 2000, a year after releasing her final solo album, Twenty Four Seven, though she would return to the stage in 2008, performing at the Grammy awards with Beyoncé, and for a final tour to mark 50 years of her career.
That was conclusively the end. “I was just tired of singing and making everybody happy,” she told the New York Times in 2019. “That’s all I’d ever done in my life.”
Turner collaborated on the musical Tina with Phyllida Lloyd, which premiered in 2018 and won Laurence Olivier and Tony awards for its respective West End and Broadway runs. “This musical is not about my stardom,” Turner said of the production. “It is about the journey I took to get there. Each night I want audiences to take away from the theatre that you can turn poison into medicine.”
Turner often said she did not relate to the “invincible” persona that others put on her. “I don’t necessarily want to be a ‘strong’ person,” she told the New York Times. “I had a terrible life. I just kept going. You just keep going, and you hope that something will come.”
In 2020, a remix of her 1984 hit What’s Love Got to Do With It? by the Norwegian producer Kygo made Turner the first artist to have a UK Top 40 hit in seven consecutive decades. In 2021, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist, 30 years after Ike and Tina Turner’s induction.
Turner is survived by her second husband, German music executive Erwin Bach. They married in July 2013 after 27 years together and lived in Switzerland. In 2013, Turner renounced her US citizenship to become a Swiss citizen.
Her first child, Craig Raymond Turner, died in July 2018. Last year, Turner said that following her other son Ronnie’s death at the age of 62 that he “left the world far too early”. She is survived by two of Ike Turner’s sons, Ike Turner Jr and Michael Turner, whom she adopted.
In 2020, Turner told the Guardian that despite having some serious health problems, the last 10 years of her life had embodied her ideal vision of happiness.
“True and lasting happiness comes from having an unshakeable, hopeful spirit that can shine, no matter what,” she said. “That’s what I’ve achieved, and it is my greatest wish to help others become truly happy as well.”

2023.05.22 19:54 Simple_Spirit4056 Looking for Living Donor

Hello All! My name is Andrea and I am a kidney champion for my 55-year-old husband Steve Johnson. That means I am helping to raise awareness of the need for organ donation, and to help find a living kidney donor for him.
Steve was born with PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) which took his father’s life in his 40’s. Unfortunately, Steve’s disease has progressed, and life is far from the same. For the past 2 years Steve spends 3 nights a week at a dialysis center hooked to a machine. Missing events and milestones he should be able to enjoy. Without dialysis it’s projected he would have 6 months or less to live.
By trade Steve is a heavy equipment mechanic, however he often misses work. Because Steve frequently does not feel well and has side effects from dialysis treatments his quality of life is greatly affected. More often than not we miss family events and miss doing what he enjoys. His enjoyment includes playing with our grandson and being a volunteer firefighter serving our local community. Just to get away for a quick weekend takes planning and scheduling with treatments. And hoping he feels well enough. Our grandson really wants Pop-Pop to play!
Steve is approved for a transplant and is on the waiting list with Thomas Jefferson Transplant Center. It’s projected he will be on the list for up to 8 years. To be a kidney donor, you need to be in generally good health. Routine tests are performed to determine the potential donor’s viability. Kidney donors go on to live long healthy lives with one kidney. All costs incurred by the donor are covered by Medicare. The average recuperation time in the hospital is two to three days and two to three weeks at home.
More than anything, Steve wants to enjoy family and life. And to be able to return to being a volunteer firefighter that he has done for 37 years.
Below is a link to a live donor website which has a video and written information. It is also where people can apply to donate online by clicking on the blue link that says “Living Donor Medical Assessment and Referral Form.” Once someone submits the form online, a donor nurse will reach out to them directly to review it and discuss the process. The website can be found at: www.JeffersonHealth.org/LivingDonorForm
For any questions or additional information please contact Ashley Kern, Patient Navigator, 215-503-9396 [email protected], or Vanessa Vuong, Donor Coordinator 215-503-4043 [email protected]. Please reference Stephen Johnson, DOB March 10,1968.
Thank you for reading!

2023.05.22 15:13 PM-ME-A-PRIME-NUMBER [OC] I played GM and built a football team from scratch, year 2

I saw a video from Jackson Krueger Sports that really piqued my interest about creating an NFL team from scratch, and I wanted to give it a shot of my own. I changed some of the rules, but basically my objective in doing this was to see how much worse I am at this than actual NFL front offices. Here is my post from last offseason where I named my team the Birmingham Miners and detailed the moves I made in year one. My team predictably had a number of serious deficiencies after only one offseason, which made this second offseason a real opportunity to build this roster from a higher starting point.

Stage 0: Last Year’s Results

On the plus side, I found a lot of midround talent in the draft last year – Christian Watson tied for the rookie lead in receiving touchdowns last year, Akayleb Evans played significant snaps on defense as a fourth-round corner, and Jamaree Salyer started 14 games last season at left tackle in relief of Rashawn Slater. Additionally, I found punter Ryan Stonehouse in undrafted free agency who led the NFL in average yards per punt in 2022. In free agency, I signed JuJu Smith-Schuster who led the Super Bowl winning Chiefs’ wide receivers in yards and receptions in 2022, as well as landing solid contributing pieces like Raheem Mostert, Jermaine Eluemunor, Arden Key, and Jordan Reid. My most big-ticket free agent, Terron Armstead, started 13 games and made the Pro Bowl, and my most big-ticket draft pick, Kayvon Thibodeaux, started 14 games as a rookie on the defensive line.

On the minus side, despite landing some young contributors, my team was weak overall. My top two quarterbacks, Jameis Winston and Malik Willis, each were benched during the 2022 season. My top offensive skill position signing, Russell Gage, failed to crack the starting lineup in Tampa Bay, and as a result, my weapons were really lacking. At cornerback, Ahkello Witherspoon missed most of the season with a lingering hamstring injury, and at linebacker, Jayon Brown missed much of the season with hamstring and hand injuries. Overall, my big focus going into the offseason was improving the baseline level of play at quarterback and on the second and third levels of my defense, as well as hopefully adding top-end talent somewhere on the roster.

Stage 1: Logistical Notes and In-Season Moves

Last offseason, I made three small mistakes in terms of whether certain players were eligible to be signed. As it turns out, each of Brian Hoyer, Conor McDermott, and Lamarcus Joyner re-signed with their teams just before the free agency period began and thus never hit the market. I removed each player’s contract from my team, and with the open roster spots (plus 3 roster spots from cutting Josh Johnson, Jarrad Davis, and Isaac Yiadom), I claimed Kellen Mond, Alex Leatherwood, Solomon Kindley, Wyatt Davis, Janarius Robinson, and Tariq Castro-Fields off waivers after the final cutdown deadline.

After the season, I decided to cut Jameis Winston, Russell Gage, and Tavon Young, saving a total of 5.785M against the salary cap but also clearing their contracts off the books for 2023. With a total reported salary cap of 224.8M, this left me with 70.6M of space heading into free agency. I decided to keep my coaching staff mostly in tact, though I replaced my offensive line coach and added a few position coaches to each the offense and the defense. As a reminder, I can only hire new coaches to jobs that would be promotions over their previous jobs:

Pos Coach Previous Job
HC Aaron Glenn Returning, Lions DC
OC Bobby Slowik Returning, 49ers Passing Game Coord.
QB Coach Brad Kragthorpe Returning, Bengals Asst. WR Coach
RB Coach Kolby Smith Dolphins Offensive Asst.
WR Coach Seth Ryan Returning, Lions Asst. WR Coach
TE Coach Billy VandeMerkt Jets Offensive Asst.
OL Coach Joe Graves 49ers Asst. OL Coach
DC Kris Richard Returning, Saints Co-DC
DL Coach Darryl Tapp Returning, 49ers Asst. DL Coach
LB Coach Aaron Curry Returning, Seahawks Defensive Asst.
DB/CB Coach DeShawn Shead Returning, Seahawks Asst. DB Coach
Saf. Coach Mike Mitchell Colts Asst. DB Coach
Kolby Smith primarily worked with runningbacks in Miami from 2020-2022, helping guide Raheem Mostert and Myles Gaskin to productive seasons, and he was Isiah Pacheco’s RB coach at Rutgers in 2019. Billy VandeMerkt was an offensive assistant with the Jets in 2022 as the offense became more tight end-centric with the acquisitions of Tyler Conklin and CJ Uzomah. Joe Graves worked with three first-time starters in 2022 with Aaron Banks, Jake Brendel, and Spencer Burford each playing adequately in San Francisco. Mike Mitchell played 10 years as a safety in the NFL before catching on last season as an assistant defensive backs coach under Gus Bradley in Indianapolis.

Stage 2: Re-Signing Free Agents

Pos Player Age Contract
TE Robert Tonyan 29 1/2.7M/1.3M Gtd
LT Elijah Wilkinson 28 1/1.2M/1.1M Gtd
RT Jermaine Eluemunor 28 1/3.0M/2.4M Gtd
ILB Nicholas Morrow 28 1/1.2M/0.0M Gtd
CB Brandon Facyson 28 2/6.5M/0.7M Gtd
As a reminder, my rule for re-signing free agents is that I can re-sign them for the same contract that they signed in real life. I didn’t have too many key free agents to re-sign, as I signed most of my starters to multi-year contracts last offseason, but I was still glad to bring back some key depth. Wilkinson started 9 games on the offensive line last year and Eluemunor started all 17, so they’ll come back as versatile depth who can start in a pinch. Nicholas Morrow started 17 games defensively for the Bears, leading the team in tackles, so he’s a cheap retention for only $1.2 MM.

Stage 3: Outside Free Agents

As a reminder, my rule for free agency is that I can sign any player who hits the open market, but I have to give them either a 10% or 20% raise to their yearly and guaranteed salaries, depending on whether or not they re-signed with their original team. Additionally, should I choose, I can sign a player to a contract that is up to one year longer than the real-life contract to which he agreed in the actual NFL.

Offense
Pos Player Age Contract
QB Jacoby Brissett 30 1/8.8M/8.3M Gtd
RB Damien Harris 26 1/1.9M/1.1M Gtd
WR Phillip Dorsett 30 1/1.3M/0.0M Gtd
WR Jeff Smith 26 1/1.3M/0.0M Gtd
TE OJ Howard 28 1/1.4M/0.5M Gtd
LG Aaron Stinnie 29 1/1.7M/0.2M Gtd
C Garrett Bradbury 28 3/17.3M/5.9M Gtd
C Daniel Brunskill 29 2/6.1M/1.7M Gtd
RG Nate Davis 26 3/33.0M/17.5M Gtd
RG Nate Herbig 25 2/8.8M/4.4M Gtd
The obvious headliners here are Jacoby Brissett, Damien Harris, Garrett Bradbury, and Nate Davis. Brissett was the top realistic QB target I had this free agency, following the release of Jameis Winston, so I pulled the trigger on a one-year bridge deal for him. Damien Harris spent the first four years of his career as a workhouse back for New England, and he projects to do the same here, as his between-the-tackles ability could open it up for Raheem Mostert to be used in a more third-down, pass-catching capacity as he ages. The real focus on offense, though, was the offensive line, and I hit that in a major way by adding two highly-regarded starters in Garrett Bradbury and Nate Davis, each of whom are coming off of their first contract and are ideal scheme fits in a zone-running offense, and by adding two depth pieces in Daniel Brunskill and Nate Herbig who each have played all across the interior offensive line.

Defense/Specialists
Pos Player Age Contract
EDGE Chase Winovich 28 1/2.2M/1.9M Gtd
EDGE Malik Reed 27 1/1.4M/0.8M Gtd
DT Kevin Strong 27 1/1.3M/0.1M Gtd
ILB Bobby Okereke 27 4/44.0M/24.2M Gtd
ILB Krys Barnes 25 1/1.1M/0.0M Gtd
CB Trayvon Mullen 25 1/1.5M/1.3M Gtd
CB Amani Oruwariye 27 1/1.4M/0.1M Gtd
NCB Sidney Jones 27 1/1.2M/0.0M Gtd
SS Terrell Edmunds 26 1/2.2M/0.7M Gtd
SS Johnathan Abram 26 1/1.3M/0.0M Gtd
FS Juan Thornhill 27 3/23.1M/15.4M Gtd
K Eddy Pineiro 27 2/4.9M/2.7M Gtd
The most consequential signings here were Bobby Okereke and Juan Thornhill. Bobby Okereke is a fifth-year linebacker who hit his stride with the Colts over the past two seasons, playing up to his freakish pre-draft potential. Juan Thornhill pairs back up with Justin Reid, who anchored a Super Bowl-winning secondary for the Chiefs last season. Chase Winovich and Malik Reed are probably best suited in rotational spots, but given the team’s relative weakness at edge rusher across from Kayvon Thibodeaux, they may be vaulted into bigger roles than they’re ideally suited for.

After free agency, I had 2.8MM of cap space remaining, just enough to sign my incoming rookie class (with the help of the Top 51 rule).

Stage 4: The Draft

My rule for the draft is that I have the 16th pick in each round and can draft any player who went at or after my pick in real life, and that I can sign any undrafted free agent with a 10% boost to their guarantees.

1.16 (16): Birmingham Miners select DT Calijah Kancey, Pittsburgh #8
After trying to address most of my needs in free agency, I decided I could take arguably the best player available to me here at pick 16. A three-star recruit from Miami, Florida, Calijah Kancey burst onto the scene in 2021 with a 7-sack season, which he followed up with a 7.5-sack season in 2022 and a dominant NFL Combine in which he ran a blistering 4.6 forty-yard dash. Kancey could stand to add some more bulk, but he should immediately contribute to disrupting the pass game next to Kayvon Thibodeaux.

2.16 (47): Birmingham Miners select WR Jalin Hyatt, Tennessee #11
A four-star recruit from Irmo, South Carolina, Jalin Hyatt was the leading receiver for the dominant Tennessee Volunteers’ offense last season, recording 1267 yards and 15 touchdowns on 67 catches. Hyatt is a speed burner who probably needs to add some strength and route-running finesse, but he’s already a dynamic threat coming in for a roster that needs offensive talent.

3.16 (79): Birmingham Miners select TE Darnell Washington, Georgia #0
A four-star recruit from Las Vegas Nevada, Darnell Washington may have been overlooked in the draft process as the second tight end for Georgia behind Brock Bowers, but his 6’6”, 264 lbs frame is practically unheard of in the modern college game, so he’ll be an immediate part of my run game while developing as a receiver to eventually take over for Tyler Conklin.

4.16 (118): Birmingham Miners select QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, UCLA #1
Despite adding Jacoby Brissett in free agency and having Malik Willis on the backburner from last year, my quarterback position is obviously still very much in flux, so it was worth another midround flyer on a high-upside developmental option. A four-star recruit from Las Vegas, Nevada, Dorian Thompson-Robinson had a dominant 2022 season for UCLA, notching 3169 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions through the air on 69.6% completions as well as 645 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.

5.15 (150): Birmingham Miners select C Luke Wypler, Ohio State #53
A four-star recruit from Montvale, New Jersey, Luke Wypler is an athletic, intelligent center who started all 26 games for Ohio State in 2021 and 2022. Center was not a big need considering I had just signed Garrett Bradbury and Daniel Brunskill, but Wypler was my top center in this draft by far, so this was too big a value to pass up.

6.16 (193): Birmingham Miners select NCB Jarrick Bernard-Converse, LSU #24
A three-star recruit from Shreveport, Louisiana, Jarrick Bernard-Converse started at Oklahoma State at safety and cornerback for 4 years before transferring to LSU in 2022. Bernard-Converse’s wealth of experience and recorded 4.3 speed at his Pro Day make him the perfect versatile late-round defensive back draft pick for a secondary in need of depth.

7.16 (233): Birmingham Miners select CB Cory Trice, Purdue #23
A three-star recruit from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Cory Trice is a long, athletic cornerback who started for 4 years at Purdue. Trice fell down the draft on account of a flurry of injuries, but his tantalizing physical profile adds a high-upside element to a secondary in desperate need of young cornerback talent.

College Free Agents
Sean Tucker is an athletic back who ran for over 1000 yards in each of his last two seasons at Syracuse. Matt Landers is a 6’4” receiver who led Arkansas in receiving last season and ran a 4.3 forty-yard dash at the Combine. Isaiah Land was a dominant pass rusher at Florida A&M, recording 19 sacks in 2021 and winning SWAC Defensive Player of the Year and following that up with a 7.5-sack, First Team All-SWAC season in 2022. Rashad Torrence started for two seasons, demonstrating his positional flexibility by playing all across the Gator secondary. Jack Podlesny was the kicker for Georgia who went a combined 61 of 74 on his field goals.

Stage 5: TL;DR

Last year, my team definitely was mostly replacement-level guys, essentially as a consequence of having to build the team from scratch without any extra draft picks or players currently signed by other teams. This year, however, I really do think I was able to fill needs in free agency and add some high-level talent in the draft. Listed is my starting lineup, and here is a picture of my full depth chart.

QB: Jacoby Brissett / Malik Willis
RB: Damien Harris / Raheem Mostert
WR: Christian Watson, Jalin Hyatt, JuJu Smith-Schuster
TE: Tyler Conklin / Darnell Washington
OL: Terron Armstead, Jamaree Salyer, Garrett Bradbury, Nate Davis, Morgan Moses / Jermaine Eluemunor
DL: Kayvon Thibodeaux, Calijah Kancey, Derrick Nnadi / Harrison Phillips, Malik Reed
ILB: Bobby Okereke, Myles Jack / Nicholas Morrow
CB: Ahkello Witherspoon, Brandon Facyson / Akayleb Evans, K’Waun Williams
S: Jordan Reed, Juan Thornhill
ST: Eddy Pineiro, Ryan Stonehouse, Josh Harris

2023.05.22 11:29 ohioismyhome1994 Alcoholism took my wife away

As I write this my beautiful wife is lying in hospice, pumped full of pain killing drugs, waiting on god to call her to heaven.
I became aware of her drinking pretty early on, but she was good at hiding her problem. About 5 years ago we took her to the hospital where she was diagnosed with liver disease. The doctor told us it was severe, but did not immediately necessitate the need for a transplant. She just needed to stop drinking. She didn’t.
Her liver got worse. Her MELD score climbed in the high twenties. She eventually developed lupus in her kidneys which put her on dialysis. All of this was exacerbated by her drinking, but she would stop.
We tried to put her in every treatment center in town. Nothing stuck. We begged her to stop. She wouldn’t. The disease was too strong.
We got to this point when she was rushed to the hospital after hitting her head. She was once again drinking when it happened. The fall snapped an artery which lead to a full surgery. After the surgery the doctors were fighting the brain injury, liver disease and lupus. Last week she had a mild heart attack. Given all of these complications, the nephrology team concluded that they could no longer continue the dialysis.
My wife is on her deathbed because she could not overcome her alcoholism. She leaves behind me, her 17 year old son, and her close knit family. We are all devastated.
I know the decision to quit drinking is a personal one. But it affects so many people around them, perhaps it affects them more.
My wife was a good person with a disease. I wish that was not so.
