Ford recalled the 2011 and up Fusions because the power steering can/will? spontainously fail while driving https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2015/RCMN-15V340-5844.pdf
They did not recall the 2010 fusion and class actions have been opened and theres been a pending NHTSA investigation since 2017.
The fix for the 2011+ fuison is to just update the software on the power steering control module and do some minor tweaks.
Have any mechanics or owners here just prematurely installed the update and implemented the recall fix on a 2010 fusion? If it fails its a $2500 fix on a car that will otherwise make it to 150-200k miles. Id rather be preventative and not be driving a ticking time bomb.

As the title states the new company is raising our rent. We are already paying approx $3K. An moved in only 18 months ago. We have made multiple repair requests. Some have been made... some not. Some that have been made break down almost immediately.
The most glaring (and most dangerous) is that he front door to the complex does NOT stay securely closed. EVER. It doesnt lock or even fully close.
The back door is constantly left open, which has led to multiple break ins to our laundry room leading to theft and vandalism.
And of course the washers never work. The water heater is often broken and spraying water everywhere.
There is an abandoned "hoarder" car parked in our lot.
I was actually in the process of making a request for a RENT DECREASE when the new management company took over.
What are my options? Do i even have any. We are in an area that is nice and considered very safe. Id hate to have to move so soon.

Roomie has used UPNP to host a server for our friends before but for whatever reason when I try to use it, it tells me it won’t work. Any idea on how to fix this? I would just rent a server but seeing as I’ve done that and it’s almost been worse to deal with I’d just like to be able to host it the easiest way.

For the second time in a row I have bought a grain-free food without knowing it was grain-free. There are so many options of dog food I get completely overwhelmed and I cannot afford to buy a THIRD bag of food in the span of a month at the moment.
I bought my dog a grain-free food by accident after her food (Purina Beyond) was discontinued and Chewy sent me my cats food instead of any kind of notification that they were out.
And my dog was also out of food.
So, I bought True Acres Chicken & Veg in a bit of a panic because it was a big bag for not too much money. "Grain-free" is written almost all over it but I didn't catch on until we were nearly done with bag #1.
My dog has since developed a rash on her belly that she scratches at a ton.
So I found Purina Pro Plan Adult Sensitive Skin & Stomach. The picture had nothing with grain-free listed, but I didn't scroll through all 8 photos listed, I just bought it. I had been working through the pages on Chewy for about an hour trying to find something that seemed within my budget for the price and weight and that was what I kept landing on.
Today I looked at the bag and right on the front it says "no corn, wheat or soy." I cannot explain how much I want to absolutely lose it right now. I had transitioned her and was feeling good, but since the rash persisted, I had made a vet appointment for fear that it was the mower chemicals and cut grass inflaming her belly.
NOW? IDK.
I'm so upset. I have like two bags of very full dog food, just paid rent and am trying to save for this vet appt. I do not have funds, or space, or spoons to get yet another bag of food and transition her AGAIN.
Why is grain-free food so readily available? It shouldn't be given to a dog unless expressly determined by a vet, yet it's everywhere!
And now I'm so exhausted from looking for food the first time, I don't want to look again. I already feel exhausted, overwhelmed and burnt out at the thought which in turn makes me feel like a terrible dog owner that I keep putting my baby through this.
Thanks for listening to me vent and if anyone has recommendations for a NOT grain-free dog food good for a 45lb Treeing Hound mix (budget of about $60/mo) I am so open to it.

International Development (Blue-Dot Network) Motion

THIS HOUSE RECOGNISES THAT:
(1) There are existing international development programmes through the:—

(a) The creation of the Joint Project between the United States, Japan, and Australia known as the ‘Blue Dot Network’ in 2019 being a initiative of western led global economic development.
(b) The Blue Dot Network currently undergo activities around the world in supporting various multilateral energy, infrastructure and digital initiatives.
(c) The subsequent G7 successor of the ‘Build Back Better World’ (B3W) launched in 2021 to provide an alternative to the Belt and Road Initiative is to be crucial in global economic development as it builds on the Blue Dot Network.
(d) The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has also committed to support the Blue Dot Network and it’s operations in 2021.

(2) Infrastructure plays a crucial role in economic activity and investment, which aids development.

(a) Infrastructure contributes to the facilitating of greater levels of trade and connectivity promoting economic inclusion which leads to higher productivity and growth.
(b) There is a high necessity in furthering the infrastructure levels in low and emerging economies to achieve this where for example regional development banks estimate that over $1.7 trillion of infrastructure demand is present in Asia.
(c) If properly developed, new and greener infrastructure can improve the global environment and economy in disadvantaged and emerging economies.
(d) Infrastructure development also further increases investment opportunities as foreign direct investment is to be more attracted to regions that have the capabilities, services and resources necessary to operations and growth.

(3) The current state of the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative alternative does not serve good faith global economic development and poverty alleviation as:—

(a) the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) projects have mainly acted in Chinese geopolitical interests rather than host country infrastructure needs,
(b) Countries subject to large debts by China are offered demeaning and counterproductive deals to host country economic development such as the ninety-nine year lease of Sri-Lanka’s Hambantota port to China,
(c) Chinese construction projects often ignore established and global construction, environmental and labour standards, and
(d) the lack of transparency on the financing and terms of projects.

THEREFORE THE HOUSE URGES GOVERNMENT TO:
(1) Increase Britain’s role in multilateral economic development by:—

(a) Seeking the participation of the United Kingdom in the Blue Dot Network to support the shared international development values of partnered member states.
(b) Working with G7 counterparts within the B3W to see greater expansion of the Blue Dot Network Framework and its ability in facilitating global infrastructure projects.
(c) Partnering UK Project Finance operations in cooperation and coordination with the Blue Dot Network operations where possible.

(2) Elevate global standards by:—

(a) Working to the inclusion and promotion of environmental commitments and standards, in accordance with the framework of the Blue Dot Network, to support sustainable international development.
(b) Ensuring British project development within the Blue Dot Network acts in accordance with the latest iteration of the Equator Principles in order to uphold clear and transparent environmental, social and labour standards in international development.

The motion before the house is one that understands the major benefit that can be brought to emerging and developing economies through supporting global infrastructure projects and international development. Currently the frameworks for that are scarce, with the Chinese Belt and Road initiative (BRI) being one of the few global projects. However this motion recognises the many flaws of the BRI scheme and how it fails to truly bring economic development with shared global values and good faith. Instead it has persisted dependency, violated sovereignty and disregarded environmental and social standards as it exploits countries for its own geopolitical and economic interests. As a result, the motion calls on the Government to join the newly created western model in the Blue Dot Network, with key partners such as the USA, Australia, Japan and the rest of G7 leading international economic development with clear transparency, adherence to global values, aligned with the Paris Agreement, compliant with international law and regulations and a genuine commitment to poverty alleviation and economic development. The Blue Dot Network aims to provide quality standards in investment programs that utilise both a public regulatory framework to guide private sector resources which will be critical to achieving global goals effectively and efficiently. I urge members to vote for this motion to see the United Kingdom undergo international cooperation in facilitating economic development in accordance with the values of our social and environmental standards and sustainable development goals in providing an alternative to the flawed Belt and Road Initiative.

Been in the market for a fun car I can drive around daily. Came across a 2016 Subaru WRX Limited with 56k miles, one owner, clean title, and no mods. It seems to be in really good condition. It is a CVT, looking for automatics due to the rush hour traffic here. Any thoughts?

Here are two scenarios I am comparing given current market conditions

• Buy a $450,000.00 USD home and give a 10% buffer for closing costs, moving expenses, etc.
  • No more landlord but home maintenance should be about $4.5k that year on average (1%)
  • Owe about 1% to 2% in property taxes ($4.5k to $9.0k) in a year
  • Pay property insurance ($1k to $3k)
  • Total of above costs is about $10k to $15k per year to own the home
  • Home will appreciate for resale later
• Put the money into current CD with US rates at 5% and use the $25k gained to rent a property
  • Instead of paying $10k to $15k for home ownership, use it to rent a nicer property
  • $25k will be 1099-INT taxed
  • No gain on property appreciation
  • Risky if good or bad landlord (tenant protection or not protected TBD)

Is one option obviously better than another or are there any other considerations I am missing?

To preface- I know I am an asshole. I just need to vent.
In 2021, me (26F) and my parents (both 56) adopted 2 bonded senior dogs (10 & 12) to help them live out there sunset years comfortably after their owner passed (we did not know the owner).
The 10 year old dog passed away last year, but the 12 year old (now 14) is still kicking.
Loki (14 y/o dog) has dementia and bad legs, as you would expect from a senior dog. He has severe separation anxiety from my mom that leaves him pacing and panting for hours until she returns (he can go for 5-6 hours of this before he wares himself out). He also has sundowning - which is confusion at night caused from his dementia and not knowing where he is so he continues to pace and pant throughout the house. We have tried anxiety medication from the vet to help him which actually makes it incredibly worse. The medicine makes him drowsy which renders his back legs basically unusable. This causes him to panic and bark because he doesn't understand why he's unable to move anymore. We've tried twice, but he will pee himself and bark continuously because he's in a further state of panic.
On top of his back legs, he often cannot stand up to get to the bathroom/outside in time and will poop in the house on the ground. While he will go outside to go to the bathroom if he can get up, we still clean up messes at at least 4 times a week. One of our carpets has visible stains that we are simply waiting for him to die to replace/get professional cleaners to fix because it will continue to get stains until he passes. This is also caused from him going to the bathroom while we are gone from the house. We leave him alone for a maximum of 2 hours but he will still pee/poop in the house while we are gone regardless. This resulted us in placing large-sized puppy pads on the ground to try to prevent cleaning up thoroughly when we return home. But due to his pacing, the puppy pads are often shuffled around and he goes to the bathroom on the carpet regardless.
I understand this is what I signed up for and I think it makes me miserable because he doesn't show any emotion besides anxiety. He doesn't like anyone in my family besides my mom. And that is only evident by his separation anxiety - he never wags his tail or approaches her. He never wags his tail in any scenario. He doesn't even show enjoyment when we pet him. He is just a dog, who I don't even think knows who I am because of his dementia, that is co-existing with us and we are just constantly picking up after.
Although I don't believe he's happy, from the anxiety he constantly has and the sundowning, he's not in a state yet to have euthanasia performed. He has a full appetite and can walk (he needs help getting up about 30-40% of the time, but once hes up hes fine). Every month I say "he must only have another month before his legs finally give out" but he just keeps moving along.
I don't know if this is a life worth living for him. If it would be cruel to have the vet induce euthanasia now because he's technically a functioning dog. I wish I could ask him what he wants, because to me, I don't know if this is a state I would want to constantly be living in. But I also know that is a selfish thought, as it is incredible time consuming and mentally exhausting to constantly be taking care of an animal that doesn't care for you, and my life will get easier when it's time for him to go.

Hello, we'll arrive in Kutaisi in August and want to rent a car there to explore the country. Since international car rentals are way more expensive than local ones and some of the Google reviews of the local car rentals claim that their good ratings are fake (I don't believe so, but after reading that I started to question the ratings), do you maybe have a recommendation for a cheap car rental? Then during the winter the insulation in the home gave out which we warned them of and my water was out for over a week and average temp of the house below freezing. My roommate and I kept the place spotless. Had carpet cleaners come and professional cleaners for the home. However RE-360 ate our whole security deposit and charged us over 100 dollars. From other friends that have rented with them have faced the same problem. It's a big company and their goal is to essentially eat your entire deposit use it to upgrade the house (not repair) and then boost the rent for the next tenants. Overall it's a scam and not worth your time.

I found some good prices on units. How is it living there? Are the units quiet/ concrete building? If not there, what are some other apartment complexes in NW Portland that offer QUIET apartments?

I made a call months ago (January) to prearrange services at Town & Country vet for my dog, and this was after calling around to several clinics. I was really excited after speaking with them, but I need to get in very quickly today just for an eye wash as my dog's eye is weeping and waiting will only allow it to worsen. I called today only to find out I can't get in until the 7th.
I can't wait 10 days for an eye condition that could worsen. So I am taking my dog ALL THE WAY to NW to a vet I absolutely hate and have been trying desperately to get away from due to how they price gouge and talk down to me for feeding my dog Raw, so I can get an eye wash.
Can anyone recommend a vet that is actually seeing patients right now? I can not believe how frustrating this stupid process is to be a good animal owner.

Hey guys!
(TL;DR) Wondering if you could help me narrow down my options on the various bike types there are now, and good bike brands to consider. I am on a budget, max £6-700 (used is good), and this is why I want to try before I buy.
For context: I have a circa 2005 Kon Fire mountain, It's still going strong and requires very little maintenance so I keep riding it! :) However, I want to look into potentially upgrading to something new.
Now there are hybrids, gravel, urban, etc, I have no idea what the right bike for me would be atm... I moved to the countryside last year so I've been biking a lot more, doing some longer distances, now I want to go further and explore some longer routes as they have on apps like Komoot.
I'm actually very interested in backpacking but I want a good all-terrain all-rounder that could handle road cycling, gravel, cross-country trails, etc as there's a wide array of different routes around me. As old as the Kona is it handles all this quite well, but it's a small 18-inch frame with 26ers so not really built for long distances.
So, I was thinking about renting/leasing some bikes to get a good idea of if it would be the next step, and also get a good idea of the differences between the various types available now.
