It got me thinking, what off the field stories do you all have? Horrible behavior? Amazing behavior? Bartending and getting a massive tip?

I am the daughter of Ralph and his second wife, Carolyn. My brother and I grew up in the Hurricane\Winfield area. My dad Ralph was the CFO to a major hospital chain in Charleston, WV for many years. My mother was a teacher. My sibling and I grew up in Hurricane and Winfield West Virginia.
Ralph was moved around during his formative years, being the only son of Ralph Bowles, Sr, and Geraldine Fizer, who were a military/navy family. Ralph grew up from California to New Port News Virginia, places where his father was stationed.
My father Ralph and my mother met while attending classes at Marshall University in the 1970's and married after a long courtship. They were married ten years but were together for much longer.
Ralph was an avid Chicago Bears fan throughout his adult life. He enjoyed learning about WWII and was a voracious reader of all things Stephen King. He enjoyed horror films, especially black and white horror films.
Unfortunately, this is where the account of Ralph's life gets blurry for some people, and would be unless you were there and lived it, as my sibling and I did.
Ralph was married three times and my mother was his second wife. He and my mother had two children together and his co-workers remember pictures of me on his desk at work.
It was around this time that Ralph met his third wife, who was 11 years his junior, as she was working as a cashier at Hecks in Teays Valley. Hecks no longer exists, just as Hills no longer exists. Their relationship started prior to his marriage to my mother ending, according to my paternal grandmother, who told me this information when I was 12.
By all accounts of his third family, he was a beloved father and husband who helped his inlaws with a variety of tasks, even going so far as doing their accounting homework for them. During this time in his life, he enjoyed keeping his grass short and green and couldn't abide a single weed in his yard. He owned a variety of dogs, including a shih tzu, a pug, a toy poodle, a maltese, a labrador retriever, and several bulldogs, his favorite bulldog being named Daisy.
My sibling and I were at our father's house on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and at least one weekend a month. When I was about 12, Ralph and his third wife had a baby girl. My grandmother, by that time, had taken a parental role for me and my sibling with Ralph's second wife, due to my parents' busy lives.
It was after the birth of his last child in the mid 90's that things started falling apart between my father and his second family. Accounts seem to differ but it was around this time that my father and his third wife moved the belongings of me and my sibling to the garage to make room for his third child. It was at this time that my relationship with my father effectively ended. It was also around this time that my paternal grandmother thought I deserved the truth of my family.
The reason for this information is that my sibling and I, as well as multiple others, were conveniently left out of his obituary for reasons I don't completely understand. Ralph was proceeded in death by his mother and father and nephew, and is survived by his first, second, and third wife and their children, as well as in-laws and cousins.
Multiple people have reached out and asked why we omitted, those who remember me and my sibling are just as confused as we are. There are two reasons why I think we were omitted : 1) he's worried we are going to try to come for his money. I assure you that neither of us are interested in that. 2) he has some kind of desire to pretend that my sibling and I don't exist. We do and we have pictures and memories that prove we were there.
My sibling and I are both successful people with careers and families of our own and we have not in any way brought shame upon his name or family other than expressing desire for our truth to be known and the truth of what happened to our family to be known. The people who have chosen to exclude us have done so our whole lives and it is our opinion that this is the last attempt to push us to the side.
Rest in peace, Ralph. We do remember you.

Like maybe that excuse would've worked maybe in the first or middle arcs but this is the final arc/final saga ,Like the time for cooking is done and it's time for the start off of Character arc payoffs and such.
It's also equally annoying when they say "Oh,if you don't like the story,why are you reading it"?
That's like 2 completely different things.
Having issues/critiques with how a story is done/going is much different from flat out not liking it.
I think my issues with JJk now is the fact that Sukuna possessed/has been taking control of Megumi and its just pointless since the only purpose is really to give Sukuna a power-up ( cause Yeah,the main villain needs a power-boost,that makes sense.)
Plus,I'm getting overall tired of seeing Sukuna in Megumi's body and its even more tiring cause Megumi resisted once and then Gege had to ensure he would stay out of the story.
It also really doesn't help that Yorozu is just such a cringe character and really only a plot device to show how "O.P" and "Badass" Sukuna is.
(Plus the incest between them was even weirder).
I would've have minded Megumi's sister being killed if there was actual buildup to that moment but we don't know much about her,only that she was important to Megumi.)
She felt more like a plot device to be killed.
Maybe if Gege also had Megumi keep resisting and fighting back but Nope,
That's how we're gonna treat our Deuteragonist.
(Imaging if in Naruto,Sasuke got possessed and taken over by Orochimaru for the final arc,so Killua got possessed by a force later on in the last arc,wouldn't be good.)
It also is a pain how all Yuji does at this point is basically get tortured and traumatized all the damn time.
Maybe if all this was actually worth something in the end/or actually building up to something,I wouldn't mind but nope,
Yuji is basically nothing but a trauma sponge.
(When are we gonna get the peak yuji that was in the mahito fight, Like dude is basically also immensely underprepared for the final fight (considering he has no simple domain,Domain expansion,etc,)
I'm not even asking for him to become the strongest or chosen one but just give him something rather than intense punches and kicks.
(It also doesn't help that Sukuna constantly mocks him and that never changes,even in the final arc,Sukuna just mocks him,that never changes,it's almost embarrassing.)
Either Gege doesn't want to or just doesn't flat out care.
He's had good character growth but Gege really needs to start doing something with him.
Also,the lack of emotional investment/attachment i have with this arc and characters seeing how we're immediately rushing to the most hyped fight in the series, (Gojo vs Sukuna)and we don't have time to even breathe or have build-up.
That's the issue,Gege is not giving us a chance to even breathe and prepare.
(hell,we don't even know Yuji's plan to save Megumi,assuming Gege even wants him to do that.)
It just feels like this final arc has been tiring and it's really only carried by the hype fights and "Badass" Moments.
(but the emotional investment is basically the same as watching paint dry.)

My main question is whether or not you all think that the average uneducated farmer in Haiti would do well with these videos. I'm concerned the videos have way too many pop culture and "first world" references. For example, if he starts talking about dog breeds or subways or paying bills that's going to add a confusing layer to the learning process. What do you all think, though?

I (19m) have been friends with my buddy (19m) for 19 years. We were born just a month apart and lived next door to each other. I moved away at 4 but we were able to keep in touch through our parents. When we both got phones at around 13-14 we started to communicate to each a lot more and played video games together nearly everyday. Our relationship has been good and I’ve even made the 3 hour trip from Wisconsin to Indiana to see him a few times over the years.
Recently, we haven’t been talking as much, I didn’t really think of it. We’re both graduating high school and he doesn’t quite know what he’s doing yet and it’s quite stressful for any senior. We actually had the idea to have our grad party together. A few weeks ago I reached out to ask him about it and got no response. Again, it happens sometimes, so about a week ago I reached out again. Again, nothing. So I read of texting him on Snapchat I texted him on IMessage and Instagram. Despite him being “active” on both platforms, no response. I messaged him asking if everything was ok and if I did anything wrong to no avail. So finally, I told him it was my last attempt reaching out and again asked if he wanted to talk about it and how friendships need effort to stay strong. Again, nothing.
After being ignored, I reached out to his GF to see if she had any insight. To my surprise, she replied “I don’t think he wants to be your friend anymore.” Of course I asked why, she then said “he’s doesn’t like the way you make fun of him and try to embarrass him.”
First off I want to say that those feeling are completely valid. I can understand not wanting to be made fun of. Like I said we live in different states so have developed different friend groups. Where I live we just poke fun at each other all the time, that’s just how we are. So when I talk to him I just imagine it’s like talking to my friends at home. He had never said anything to me about not liking the way I treated him so I just assumed that his friend group must be similar to mine. So I kept talking to him the way I do with all my friends. I never say things that are very deep. Mostly surface level things like “you’re stupid” “you’re a fatass” stupid things that are rude, but again, things that I don’t view as serious because it’s the way me and my friends talk.
I’ve struggled with this for a few days and want to know, do I deserve to be ignored and should I just accept that I’m the asshole?

I worked 4 years on overnight and I got coached one time in 4 years now I'm on cap 2 and it is obvious that this coach is trying to push me and a few other people out he has coached me three times in 2 months which therefore means I only have one left and I can guarantee you two of them were for some complete bullshit shit along with the other few people he coached another one of them was valid but the rest of them were all bullshit. Our team is only about seven people and he is still trying to do this I can't figure out a reason why this guy would not like me but what I have figured out is he talks to and has not coached any of the immigrants any of the Arab immigrants or the Puerto Rican ones he is best friends with them he is so nice to them he talks to them outside of the back room he actually Associates with them and both Puerto Rican and Arab people were out there working on the pallet that supposedly didn't get finished that I got coached for that all of them should have got coached for yet I was the only one that did. He is nice too and hasn't coached anyone of the Puerto Ricans or the Arabs he has only got in trouble the white people and the black people and he is a Puerto Rican immigrant himself

I think AI fear is so pernicious here not so much because of AI itself, but because rationalists among others hold implicit values that it targets. To use a pop culture example, serial killer films in the 70s are effective because of the increased value of individualism and self-empowerment then; people perceive the dark side of those values if unconsciously.
i can think of four values from hanging around this scene and reddit in general that it hits.
1. Human beings are or should be governed by impersonal or abstract forces. A common thing i see here is this. Rationalists tend to view solutions or causes on a force level; a man is made by his environment, and the wisdom of a crowd is better than that of a man. Rationalists approach the world through statistics, not literature.
2. Intelligence is a moral good and the best measure of an individual's potential. Hence the endless focus on IQ. I use an an analogy to height to show the difference.
Like height, intelligence is a quality that is biological to a point. But intelligence is held to an almost moral standard, whereas when people try to do so to height (i only date 6"0' and up!) we rebel against it as absurd. We dislike "tall people will have a better potential life than short people."
For some reason it has moved into a good in itself. To be short is just life; to not be smart is a failure.
3. The highest self-actualization is in high-status, meaningful work.
i think as we become more atomized, work increasingly fills people's lives as the sole bestower of value. Even work-substitutes do; video games are popular more and more as comparative status and meaning; you are ranked and you grind in them as much as play and ppl hunt achievements and trophies.
4. An ideal man is machine-like in a sense. Objective, dispassionate, and standardized. What I mean is a man strives to produce photographs and not drawings; he should view the world according to natural laws or objective reality and strive to eliminate bias or personality. Things like abstract art are anathema; machines do not have a subjective life.
AI fear in particular hits these things hard.

1. It is impersonal force embodied. Namely, how dependent we are on technology that we fear moves us, not is moved by us. It fuses a deity with an impersonality as if one day a God of evolution showed up.
2. It is ten times "smarter" than us by the metrics we use, even though it isn't smart at all. It both upholds intelligence and destroys it. Think of a chess computer.
3. It will destroy work as a source of meaning for many people leaving...what, exactly? Most everything else as source of meaning has been discredited or weakened.
4. You can't outrun a car. People aim to be more rational than other beings. But what happens when you can't? Subjectivity as insurmountable and we become Kirk to a Spock.

i think a lot of ppl get hung up in trying to debate "can AI do X" but the answer is more to debunk the framework. its like one group of Christians debating Jesus is coming back in five years and the other says "no, no man knows the hour." The real fear is in "He finds me wanting/a failure."
anti-fear response:

1. A man's destiny is in his own hands; statistics do not define us.
2. Intelligence is just one aspect of humanity and needs to be unvirtued a bit. we've gone too far.
3. Work cannot be a source of meaning long-term. Competition is making that untenable. New forms of meaning must be found.
4. Subjectivity is important. A singular human viewpoint also has value. There is also a place for it.

How many times did you end up quitting or forgetting about your goals and leading the life you have always lived?

I’ve set myself some wild goals in the past, almost all of which I didn’t achieve, didn’t attempt to achieve or quit trying to achieve.
I thought that everybody else around me was able to work on their goals, achieve them easily and live the life they’ve always wanted.
Turns out, most people never achieve their goals. Why?

I realise that I have never had a system, only goals. I was sitting around waiting for inspiration or motivation, or even hoping I would achieve those goals naturally with time.
Now I know how stupid that was.

The Two Systems I Now Use to Achieve my Goals

1. Simplify then Systemise then Track
Start at the big goal, break it down into its smallest form and systemise it.
Say you have a goal to lose 12 pounds in 6 months. Perhaps you need to fit into some snug suit trousers for a wedding (asking for a friend…).
Well, that’s 1 pound every 2 weeks.
That’s a much simpler goal to focus on. Now you just need a system to lose 1 pound every fortnight.
According to research, 1 pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories.
So every 2 weeks you need to burn an extra 3500 calories. Or cut 3500 calories from your diet. Or a combination of the two.
Goal: Lose 12 pounds in 6 months
Simplify: Lose 1 pound every 2 weeks
System: Walk for 1 hour per day (burn 250 calories per day)
Track: Mark an X in your calendar after your walk
You can pretty much forget about the goal as long as you focus on the system.
2. The Wall Calendar
Most people never achieve their goals because of a lack of consistency.
Popularised by Jerry Seinfeld, pin a giant 2023 wall calendar and mark an ‘X’ when you have done what you said you would do.
Seinfeld marked an X when he sat down and wrote jokes.
“Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. You’ll like seeing that chain, especially when you get a few weeks under your belt. Your only job is to not break the chain.” - Seinfeld
I mark an X in my calendar after I complete my morning routine.

If you want to achieve your goals, you need a system. Leave the ‘hopes and dreams’ for the next person. Maybe the two I use won’t work for you, so get searching for your system. Experiment and adapt others to make it work for you. But realise that every person out there that achieved some wild, far-reaching goal had a system in place.

I'm planning on making batches of lime and lemon super juice for home use, but finding the space to put a few more liters into the fridge (and/or freezer) will be difficult. So it has me wondering:
Could you make Super Juice Concentrate by simply reducing the amount of water added in the last step?
Just like when you buy orange juice from concentrate at the store, sure it'll have a different consistency, but it dissolves in water all the same. So when adding SJC to a cocktail, you would just add a proportionally smaller amount, since the flavor and acidity will be more concentrated. And if the drink really relies on a juice's water content for dilution, then couldn't you just.. add an appropriate amount of water to the cocktail to bring it back to the correct dilution?
I've never made super juice so I don't know what the effects of reducing the added water might be. Has anyone tried this? If you haven't, do you think it sounds like it would work?

Do any of you know if the IBLP still emphasizes the same modesty standards as before? (For example, women not being allowed to wear pants.) The reason I ask is because so many of the adult daughters of high-ranking IBLP leader Gil Bates have evolved from their parents' clothing standards. These young women have successful social media "ministries." They look more normal and are able to much more easily fit in and look less like fundies. I'm wondering if maybe that would lead the IBLP to begin adapting their dress code standards to more modern wear in order to attract the younger generation, seeing how successful Gil's daughters are. And yes, I know the Bates daughters still living at home haven't started wearing pants, but maybe The IBLP is changing their standards for adults? Also, side-note: I know the Bates daughters aren't all affiliated with IBLP, but they still have a type of ministry through their businesses, YouTube following, etc... at least that's how they have justified social media influencing being okay.

So I've just gotten out a relationship not to long ago. We had broke up because she found out I was texting other females. I know cheating is wrong in all ways but just hear me out. So me and my ex met in march 2021 and we were in love to the point I really truly thought this was it I found who I was looking for, but that wasn't the case. Me and her live in the same city so you'd expect your new girlfriend to be able to do things with you or be able to have you over or she could come over anytime she she wants but, every time I asked if we could do something she'd go around the question or say one thing then boom something pops up now she can't come. It was real difficult to deal with my family was feeling iffy bout her. I saw her a good handful of times but if I can give you a number on how many times I seen her I don't think that's good. I ended up wanting to take a break cause it was going on to long for me not seeing her and i understand people get busy and your not able to see them wen you want , but it wasn't like that. Me and her got back together cause I wasn't tryn give up on her she told me things were gonna be different so I believed that and it had me at ease at the time but things didn't change. I ended up thinking she was lying to me bout her age cause everyone was skeptical bout that, so it became the last straw with me. I ended up texting other girls based off the fact she was holding something from me I didn't like to feel like I was being played with and it was a void I was trying to fill, I never did anything outside of texting tho I never went to another girls house or anything. She wouldn't tell me why I couldn't see her she only said "it'll hurt you if I tell you". I feel as if that you know it'll hurt someone you must tell them then and there cause then it'll become deceit and then a lie. I under stand personal business but secrets aren't personal business especially if you know it'll hurt someone you love. When we broke up she ended up telling me that before me it was another dude she was with. Her family always seen her happy with dude and they wanted her to be with him and no one else, and they ended up messing with each other after we broke up cause they kept in contact while me and her was together she said he only checked on her tho, and that he was outta town pursuing his basketball dream lol. I wouldn't have gotten mad at the fact that there was another dude before me and she was close with him, cause i knew that I had her at that point and honestly I wouldn't have looked at it in the way she thought, but now I'm here feeling wrong for wat I did, like I said I know cheating is wrong but holding secrets is wrong too I feel, she said it was her business and that I should've respected that, wat do yall think?

My mom is pretending like nothing is wrong. She hasn't texted me or even called me. Radio silence just like I planned. This shows me exactly who she is: someone who can't take a lick of responsibikity for her own feelings. She laughs when I say something truthful but hurtful because she can't process anything. I've changed. I don't want to go back to having a relationship with either one of them. Shes always threatened to leave the family but I did it before she ever could.
My dad on the other hand is not taking it well. He's been pleading over and over again just for me to text back. I feel bad, but at the same time he had so many years to apologize or literally do anything at all besides guilt trip me. He's even tried to message my partner and roommates. Too bad. You had many many chances to get your act together, but going a month without a text message is where you draw the line? Yeah, that's not going to work for me
I'm on week 7 and I feel better than ever. I still feel guilty but I don't wake up with a sense of anger, dread or depression. I'm sick of this trauma they put on me. These feelings are not MINE!!!!!
Do I feel like it's the death of me? Yes. But do I also feel like I can endure it better as days go on? Also yes. Maybe I'll contact them in two years. Who knows. It's still NC until I feel like the time is right

Hi Tallahassee, I'm looking for some help or advice on what to do here.
My family has 4 dogs in the house who all get along and like each other except for one. Our only female dog does not like the youngest male dog. She gets really anxious around him and that comes out as aggression, barking, snapping, etc.
She's normally a very sweet dog, she likes to sit on the couch with people and be pet and she looks up at you with these adorable and loving eyes. She's quiet and calm most of the time, and has no issues with the other two dogs in the house, she'll share a bed with them for example.
The youngest dog riles her up just through his normal happy-go-lucky behavior (he's part husky).
We've been trying to find a solution to this situation for a couple years now. We've had a couple different dog trainers come through, we worked with one for a while and implemented new ways of training but it hasn't resolved this specific issue. The house has every room and hallway gated off so the dogs can be separated, and she has her own crate which she goes into as well.
None of this has stopped her desire to attack the youngest dog. Most recently, when my dad was moving the dogs from one room to another, she lunged for the youngest dog while my dad was leading her. He tried to pull her back but her collar came off and she started attacking the other dog. She's a medium-large dog and the other is a large dog, my dad is a senior and he had a hard time pulling them apart. She ended up biting my dad in the arm as he was separating them, but he did manage to get them apart. Both dogs were ok with some minor injuries.
My dad has had enough of this constant conflict and is ready to re-home her or bring her back to the shelter. We all agree that she's adoptable due to her normal behavior (if the youngest dog wasn't here, everything would be fine) but because she has a history of aggression, we believe that the shelter will put her down.
We've tried calling and emailing a dozen or so shelters and sanctuaries, but they're all at capacity and not taking on more animals. One several hours from here said they have a year-long waiting list.
My dad is fed up and will take her to the shelter later this week no matter what. My sister and I are trying to figure out what to do. Is there a way she can live through this? Can we find her a home? Help!

Question: I believe that consumers (makeup wearers) have challenges getting personalized, professional, and product agnostic makeup advice, on things like refreshing your like, which products to use, etc.
What does this group think about this? Would you agree or disagree? What other common problems do you (consumers) have re: makeup product selection, advice on application techniques for them, etc? How do people solve for these problems (if they exist) today?
For context, I’m doing some research in a new concept to help consumers get personalized and product agnostic makeup advice from professional makeup artists. I want to validate if this would solve a “real problem”.
