2023.05.28 18:17 frenchedbread option to teach aboard
Hey y’all! I am struggling a little with choosing what to do for my next year as a teacher. I have the opportunity to A) stay in American and teach B) go to Australia and teach (make more money) C) go to England to teach (make less money). Of course the more/less money is just based on what I’m making now in America - it doesn’t reflect the COL in either country so that isn’t a huge deciding factor (other than whether or not I can afford to live there).
So I’m not struggling with jobs, VISAs, accommodations. What I’m struggling with is how to make the decision.
I truly am at a lost at what I should do. How do I pick? How do I know I’m ready? What would make this decision easier?
Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for me?
Please and thank you!!

2023.05.28 18:16 Inevitable-Rub5647 Eli5: Why is it frowned upon to wear patriotic clothes in America?
I just got called a pig for having a shirt on that says "USA" on it but idk why. I've noticed the weird stares and somebody asked me where I was on Jan 6 but idk why. The Jan 6 was funny so I assumed it was a joke but the person that called me a pig seemed genuinely offended by what I'm wearing.
Why is it not OK to wear America clothes in America? Would it be acceptable for me to wear it in other countries or is it just all together a hell nawl?

Hey redditors,
Hope you all are doing well.
Reposting again - still looking for my person, staying positive and not giving up!
I moved to Netherlands last year for a career switch from academia to the industry. It has been an interesting journey for me - from India to USA for my PhD, then to Switzerland for research and now to Netherlands. New country, new job and new life! I will likely be spending the foreseeable future here, and want find my forever person.
I want a connection that could mature into something more down the line where we establish a deep personal bond - share thoughts, dreams, goals, aspirations, travels and stories, music, books, food and more. I very much want a relationship and would prefer to communicate with someone who is already in NL or planning to move here very soon. I am not looking for pen pals or casual acquaintances.
Some common grounds/ice-breakers: gamer, scientist, traveler, foodie, amateur chef and coffee addict sums me up. And yet, we are all more than the sum of our hobbies.
Gaming: primarily a PC gamer with a taste for RPG and strategy. Gaming is not the only part of my life but it is an important one so I would prefer if you were at least a casual gamer or someone who is willing to participate in that activity. I regularly play games like final fantasy 14, guild wars 2, path of exile, and civilization 6. I also have a switch and a PS5.
Non-gaming: I enjoy both cooking and eating out to explore different cuisines. My taste in music is too broad to list here but the favorite is Sufi music. Lastly, I am not a couch potato and like spending a fair bit of time outside - fitness, hiking, traveling, visiting museums, attending live performances or just exploring new places. Being in NL, I have recently picked up cycling as well - we will see how that goes.
Other details: I am politically left leaning, an atheist, a vegetarian and an introvert.
I am usually a very agreeable person, but somethings such as smoking, strong religious inclinations and an anti-science mindset are an absolute no for me.

2023.05.28 18:16 yippiekiyay865 Remix/repurpose 3D printed Canik TP9 magazine
| While I should have tried more to learn CAD since when I got into 3D I've never been that great. After looking at Dannymeatball's drum I notice he had a TP9 mag tower. In short it needed some changes to work. I also had someone else who I will give credit to when they say it is ok and send me a modified follower from a glock 48 magazine design . Anyway, this remix utilizes a glock 48 magazine spring and will not lock back the slide. Going to do some more testing before a beta test or release anywhere so any DMs asking for the files will be ignored. It worked fine. It is also single stack so you are stuck with 10 rounds. But as cheap range / training / emergency mags they work. I also know the Canik guns are found in countries where gun parts are subject to import taxes making these more attractive to those users. Anyway, I appreciate the community and glad to maybe be giving something to an awesome community. My goal is to show promise in this so far more talented designers will take lead. Of note, this should work with XDs, PPQs, Taurus G2/G3, and a few others. If other people can use Danny's step file we could have magazines for a lot of pistols. submitted by yippiekiyay865 to fosscad [link] [comments] |

2023.05.28 18:15 HerefoyoBunz Hey Bungie, in the future, can you please make sure your activities actually work right?
So I just went fishing. First time ever right? I thought it was going to be some spectacular thing.. well I let myself down.
It started off fine, caught 2-3 legendaries in my first 7 or so catches in the EDZ. As I continue fishing, I notice my bar NOT going up. Its not increasing at all. It was stuck at full segment and about a quarter more. I spent roughly 27 bait there. It stopped increasing after about 12, jumped up about 17, then was stuck for the remaining.
Then to Nessus. Yeah.. Im fishing after I fuckin find where it is, nowhere by the Icon on the map, whatever. I start fishing. I got 38 bait roughly. Spent it all. Now I know whatcha thinking. Atleast a couple legendaries yeah? NO.
I Litterally only got greens and blues and my bar didnt increase AT ALL I spent 38 bait and got jack shit for fish, and the bar didnt move at all, and even once got an empty hook. And spent upwards of 7-10 seconds on a line just to get a green a handful of times.. why?
What the fuck? I know I couldve just reloaded in but I honestly wanted to see just how far I could go with it. Personally, Im not very satisfied. What are your experiences?
I will also suggest that fishing can just be a tap of the interact button? Or something? I dont really enjoy holding it every time to fish but only tap to pull it out.

2023.05.28 18:14 Mr_Justin_Thyme [TOMT][MOVIE] Heist movie, set in Central/ South America, early 1980s
I saw this circa 1982.
A gang of 3 or 4 Americans pull a heist in Central or South America, I think. Some foreign country, where they don't speak English.
They steal a large quantity of cash.
They make their way back to their plane, a few days journey.
They are pursued by a local bandit gang. They are caught camping for the night. The bandit leader comments on their toilet paper, in Spanish with subtitles. "We use leaves, they use $100 bills"
They eventually escape with the money. As they fly away, bandit leader says "You know what gets me, they are so rich, they don't need the money. We really do."

2023.05.28 18:14 Aquaenergyexpo Transforming the World with Innovative Energy Solutions
In an era marked by rapid technological advancements and growing concerns about climate change, the power industry has emerged as a focal point of innovation and transformation. From renewable energy sources to advancements in grid technology, the power sector continues to make significant strides in meeting the global demand for reliable and sustainable energy. In this article, we will explore some of the latest power news, highlighting breakthroughs, trends, and developments that are reshaping the way we generate, distribute, and consume power.
- Renewable Energy Surges Ahead
Renewable energy has been gaining momentum over the past decade, and the recent years have witnessed remarkable progress in this field. Solar and wind power, in particular, have seen exponential growth, with falling costs and increased efficiency making them viable alternatives to traditional fossil fuel-based energy sources. According to recent reports, solar and wind energy installations have reached record levels globally, with several countries aiming for 100% renewable energy targets in the near future. These advancements are crucial steps towards reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change.
- Energy Storage Solutions
One of the key challenges of renewable energy sources has been their intermittent nature, as the sun does not always shine, and the wind does not always blow. However, energy storage technologies have emerged as a game-changer in addressing this issue. Advancements in battery technology, such as lithium-ion batteries, have made it possible to store excess energy generated during peak production periods and utilize it during times of high demand or low renewable generation. This integration of energy storage solutions into power grids enhances grid stability, ensures a consistent power supply, and facilitates the further adoption of renewable energy.
- Smart Grids and Digitalization
The power industry is undergoing a digital revolution, with the rise of smart grids and advanced metering infrastructure. Smart grids utilize digital technology to monitor and manage power supply and demand in real-time, optimizing efficiency and reducing energy wastage. These grids enable two-way communication between power utilities and consumers, empowering individuals to actively participate in managing their energy consumption. Furthermore, smart grids facilitate the integration of distributed energy resources, such as rooftop solar panels and electric vehicles, into the grid, creating a more decentralized and resilient power system.
- Electrification of Transportation
Transportation accounts for a significant portion of global greenhouse gas emissions, making the electrification of vehicles a crucial step in achieving a sustainable future. Electric vehicles (EVs) have gained considerable traction in recent years, with major automobile manufacturers investing heavily in their development. Governments worldwide are implementing incentives and building charging infrastructure to promote EV adoption. The transition to electric transportation not only reduces emissions but also opens up opportunities for vehicle-to-grid integration, where EV batteries can be used to store and supply power back to the grid during peak demand periods.
- Nuclear Power and Advanced Reactors
Nuclear power continues to play a significant role in the global energy mix, offering a reliable and low-carbon option for electricity generation. In recent years, advanced nuclear reactor designs, such as small modular reactors (SMRs) and molten salt reactors, have garnered increased attention. These advanced reactors offer enhanced safety features, improved efficiency, and greater flexibility in deployment. With ongoing research and development, these technologies hold promise for the future of nuclear power, providing clean and sustainable energy for generations to come.
Conclusion
The power industry is witnessing a transformative shift towards a cleaner, more sustainable energy landscape. The advancements in renewable energy, energy storage, smart grids, electrification of transportation, and nuclear power are reshaping the way we generate, distribute, and consume power. These developments are not only addressing the challenges of climate change but also opening up new economic opportunities and improving energy access worldwide. As the world embraces these innovative solutions, the power sector will continue to evolve, paving the way for a greener and more prosperous future.

2023.05.28 18:14 drb97 Why do we feel empty? Why? Why does it always return?
It started when I was around 17y/o and it keeps coming back periodically. Most times it creeps in on me slowly and before I know it, I'm too deep in it. It's difficult to get out of that pool of negativity. It's like emotional quicksand. The more I try to get out of it, the deeper I end up. And when it happens, it just takes away all my will to do stuff. Life just happens to me during these periods, as opposed to me actively living my life.
I've consulted psychiatrists and psychologists. They told me it's depression. They told me I'm bipolar. They told me I have BPD. I've taken meds for years together but there's no use. It keeps returning. One person even told me I have Schizophrenia. Obviously, after a point I stopped consulting them because I lost faith in them. Mental health professionals in our country are very subpar.
Good night everyone 💖

A rare 13th century century Devon church set in an enchanting spot beside Dawlish Water, Ashcombe church is a beauty, and not just one the outside.
The white on white interior has marvellously unique Late Medieval bench ends with carvings of angels and demons like no other in Devon, or the rest of the country come to that. They are matched by the striking medieval roof bosses in the chancel.
The elegant sanctuary has some gorgeous Flemish glass and a very striking early 20th altar back, both worth a good look, along with the earlier eagle lectern and 17th century Italian carved chair.
The Late Medieval pillar capitals, placed here when the North Aisle was added, are quality work with foliage that is almost alive and a very striking Devil.

2023.05.28 18:13 ZippyDan How to make sure I don't get scammed when buying a used iPhone?
I found someone selling a used iPhone 14 Pro Max locally for a price that is "too good to be true". And usually, when it is "too good to be true", it is too good to be true.
I know there are many fakes AND just plain old scams in this area, so I'm being very suspicious, but so far they've complied with all the requests for proof I've given. Also, most of the fakes I've seen are selling for ridiculously low prices like $100 - $200 USD, but this one is going for $600 (originally asking $700) and the person says they are desperate for cash immediately (this could be a red flag of course, but I'm currently in a developing country where people often find themselves in critical financial situations and do need cash immediately to help themselves or family) .
I've seen a third-person video of the phone's information screen and I've checked the serial number and IMEI. The serial number shows up on apple.com as the correct expected model and the coverage checker says it is still in warranty until next year.
I've indicated to them that I'm an IT person and will run all the tests I can before I hand over the money and that they shouldn't waste our time if they are scamming and yet they still want to go through with the deal. I'm planning to meet in a mall and bring my laptop and check the following items:
- Connect the phone to my MacBook and make sure iTunes recognizes it as the correct model. Is this spoofable?
- Register the phone to my Apple ID and set up Find my iPhone. Is this even possible on a fake iPhone (which is usually a skinned Android device)?
- Launch the Apple Store and try to install and app that does not exist on Android. Any suggestions for a good test app?
- Just navigate through the UI to check for the feel and responsiveness of the device, and of course check the quality of the camera and video image in all modes (and the wide-angle and telephoto lenses separately).
Are there any other tests I can run or things I should check to be sure I'm not getting hoodwinked? Maybe there are some fakes or scam strategies I'm not aware of.
Another possibility is that the phone is stolen and that is why they are selling it so cheap, but if it's stolen they somehow got the password and removed the Apple ID: is that possible?
Anyway, I am concerned hypothetically about the morality of buying stolen goods, but ultimately even if I ask who is the original owner and if they have any proof of purchase they can always make up a story that I have no way to verify so I don't know what I can do about that.

2023.05.28 18:12 0_1lili Why is being transgender okay but not transracial ?
Hello,
First of all, I'd like to clarify that I have absolutely no hate toward transgender people. I deeply believe everyone has the right to identify as whatever gender they truly feel on the inside. I am just curious about one question and I would like to be educated about that.
Why is it not okay to be transracial ? (and by that i don't mean people that are adopted and raised in another culture, i mean people who choose to identify as another culture/country than the one they were born and raised in)
I mean, if people truly feel like they belong to another culture, why is it not accepted ? It's pretty much the same as transgender people, no ? They feel like they are another gender than what nature gave them. Which I think is totally valid !!! Of course
But then, if someone feel like they do not belong in the culture/country they were born and raised in, why does everyone say they are either racist or appropriating a culture ? Isn't it the same process ? Like not feeling right in what they were born ?
I do not have any opinion on people that claims to be transracial, I don't validate them nor invalidate them. I'm here to understand !
I'm asking myself this question because I always say people should be whatever they want and if it makes them happy then it is the only thing that matters since happiness can be so hard to reach. But then, when I see people making fun of transracial people because, I quote, 'This is racist and/or offensive'. I genuinly don't understand how people being transracial is offensive to the people that are actually born in the culture/country while being transgender isn't offensive to the people that are actually born this gender.
I absolutly do not want to say we should invalidate both or validate both or anything, I'd just like to be explained !
If it makes people feel better, why is it not accepted ? Is it a law thing or something ?
I just wish everyone could be happy, so I hope you won't misunderstand my words. Than you for reading and answering my question. I will learn respectfully.

2023.05.28 18:12 Iniquitousintention Unpopular opinion, Dileep is not as funny as we think he was
Before all of you come at me with a vitriolic reaction( which I expect from the dileepetttan fans), Let me make my point.Again this is an unpopular opinion so bear with me
I was watching Dileep movies recently (Just another day of being a Vazha) and I noticed some common factors. Dileep is one of those actors who when under control, is a capable actor. I wouldnt say he is horrible actor by any means but he is not the funniest guy in the room. He was always elevated by the funnier guys next to him which made the movie enjoyable. For eg, the likes of haneefa, asokan, salim kumar etc made the scenes better. When he is left to his own devices , he just overacts and starts the "chali" stuff.which was apparent aftr the 2010's after haneefa died, asokaan and salim kumar etc where not around anymore to cover for him. His usual gags involve mixing up words/using puns/innuendos and then correcting himself, trying to be funny by saying something in english or just yelling baout his situation or trying to be witty by saying some generic stuff. He also had this thing were he tried being hip and cool , which we can see in twenty twenty, karyasthan, china town etc. Once the side actors faltered, dileeps inepitude kinda was out in the open not to mention the kind of scrips he picked after paandipada is what is say is when this thing can be noticed the most. I think after two countries , I havent seen anythng with dileep that was worth it and two countires was funny because again he was surrounded by competant actors who covered for him

2023.05.28 18:12 seehunde When to visit venues??
Hi! My fiance and I are in a sticky situation. We're planning to get married in July 2024-- my fiance is starting medical school and will likely be doing research next summer, so between that and classes and commitments each summer thereafter, we can't be very flexible with our date if we want it to be a (relatively) stress-free weekend for both of us. To make things more complex, he is currently committed to a school in our area that we're reasonably certain he will ultimately attend, but could still possibly get into a better program halfway across the country between now and August (shout-out to the largely abusive, non-transparent,and wholly inconsiderate medical school admissions process!!!) Lastly, my parents are generously offering to cover wedding costs, and while I have a rough estimate of what they are willing to spend, they keep putting off discussions to solidify the budget.
I'm a huge planner and want to make sure we get the venue we want. I started looking at venues in the area yesterday that should be within our budget, and they're booking for 2024 and some even for 2025-- so I feel like I need to start contacting them this week already! How does the venue-booking process work? Could we visit now and book later, or do venues try to lock you in pretty immediately? Is there any chance they would hold a date for 48-72 hours following a visit? Do they allow deposits so we could get out of a contract if we end up wanting to hold a date, but end up having to move?
It's hard to plan a wedding around so many uncertainties, but I don't want to put things off for long. Any advice would be so welcomed!!
