2023.05.31 18:44 etherealpepper My experience with the copper IUD (flexi-t 300) insertion was amazing! Would do all over again if I had to!

Just wanted to share my experience in case anyone is thinking of getting or making the switch to a copper IUD. I got the flexi-t 300 as I am in Canada and it is suitable for women who have not had children yet (it is smaller with curved arms).
I got to the clinic and peed in a cup for them so they could their routine test for pregnancy, and they will also send it off to check of STI’s etc etc (they do this automatically).
Then I went into the room where I would be getting the IUD inserted. The doctor I had was lovely and warm right off the bat. She gave me a debrief of the IUD I would be getting and mentioned risks as per protocol.
Then I hopped up into the stirrups where she would then apply lidocaine gel to my cervix to numb it. After that set in, she measured my uterus which felt like one big period cramp, with pins and needles. Then there was another big cramp when the IUD went in, it felt the same as the measuring. It’s a weird feeling and hurts for sure but nothing terrible! I have had worse period cramps!
It has been two hours post-insertion and I am not crampy at all, nor am I bleeding. I will provide an update in a few months to explain how I am liking it.
I hope this post is informative for those who are planning on getting an IUD or are soon getting one! Don’t be scared! Just breathe through the process and you will be fine, it’s not as bad as you think ❤️

Why YSK: A projector's specs might say it can handle 1080p input. But if you check the native resolution, you might see that it actually can only handle 480p.
I fell for this scam when I was fresh out of high school and pretty much had no money because I wasn't able to have a summer job (long story). So, that year, I found what I thought was the best-value and asked my grandmother to buy it for me for Christmas. Because I desperately wanted to replace my old Tiger Electronics Zoombox projector and because the way the resolution was written in the specs was kinda confusing, I believed it was a 1080p projector. I thought maybe 800x480 was just like the starting resolution or the one it was most "confortable" with or something like that. I believed it until just a couple weeks ago when I looked up the specs for the first time in like ten years and found an article about this issue.
Moral of the Story: If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. If a $200 projector boasts a 1080p resolution, check the specs for the native resolution.

Let's do the shotgun approach. I'm going to be discussing all five earning plays in one post, and then put my conclusions at the end. All of these stocks are putting out earnings today, after hours. Yesterday I posted about HPQ going down, and it went down, puts up ~80%. So let's get into the details of this post.
Starting with CrowdStrike Holdings (CRWD), where analysts are predicting earnings of $0.509 per share compared to earnings of $0.310 per share in the same quarter of the previous year. They are also expecting the company to report $677.4 million, an increase of over the prior year quarter when the company reported $487.8 million. With regard to the current fiscal year, analysts expect a profit per share of $2.33, while the previous year saw a profit of $1.54.
CrowdStrike’s first-quarter fiscal 2024 results are likely to reflect the benefits of the continued solid demand for its products, given the healthy environment of the global security market. The increasing number of people logging into employers' networks has triggered a greater need for security and might have spurred the demand for CRWD’s products in the fiscal first quarter. A strong pipeline of deals indicates the same.
Stellar revenue growth in subscriptions might have contributed significantly to the first quarter’s top line. Further, the increasing number of net new subscription customers may have acted as a tailwind.
Moreover, CrowdStrike’s collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is an upside, benefiting the company from its products’ availability on the AWS platform. The expansion in the volume of transactions through Amazon’s AWS Marketplace, growth in co-selling opportunities with AWS salesforce and the uptake of AWS service integrations are likely to have contributed to CRWD’s earnings in the to-be-reported quarter.
However, elevated expenses for enhancing sales and marketing capabilities and increased investments in research and development are likely to have weighed on the company’s fiscal first-quarter bottom line.
Next is the software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider Salesforce (CRM), wallstreet expects CRM to post adjusted earnings of $1.61 per share, which is on the higher end of the company’s guidance and nearly double that of the Q1FY23 figure of $0.98 per share. CRM has consistently beaten earnings expectations in the past eight quarters, with a strategically built portfolio covering virtually all aspects of digital transformation. So far this year, the stock has gained 59.9%, outperforming the S&P 500's 10% gain.
Similarly, the analysts expect Salesforce to post revenue of $8.18 billion, which is also on the higher end of the company’s outlook and represents a 10.4% year-over-year growth. However, sequentially, the revenue expectation shows a modest decline of 2.4%.
Salesforce’s first-quarter performance is likely to have gained from its focus on building and expanding relationships with leading brands across industries and geographies. Also, significant growth opportunities in the public sector are expected to have been a tailwind in the fiscal first quarter.
The company’s ability to offer integrated solutions for customers’ business problems is likely to have been a key growth driver. The firm’s products, like Trailhead and myTrailhead, are helping companies through their transformation processes and increasing business scale with modern technology.
Salesforce’s quarterly performance is likely to have benefited from the robust demand environment as customers are undergoing a major digital transformation. The customer relationship management software provider’s focus on introducing more aligned products per customer needs is expected to have boosted its top line in the quarter.
Also, the acquisitions of Slack, Mobify and Vlocity are anticipated to have aided CRM’s top line during the to-be-reported quarter. Growth across its four major cloud service offerings, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Platform, and Other and Marketing & Commerce Cloud, is anticipated to have boosted Salesforce’s subscriptions and supported its revenues.
However, a decline in software spending by small and medium businesses amid the macroeconomic uncertainty due to the pandemic and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war might have affected Salesforce’s fiscal first-quarter performance. Further, stiff competition from Oracle and Microsoft is a concern, along with forex headwinds.
On May 26, Goldman Sachs analyst Kash Rangan reiterated his Buy rating on CRM stock ahead of its earnings report. Rangan has set a price target of $325, implying a massive 50.8% upside potential from current levels.
Rangan is highly optimistic about Salesforce’s quarterly winning streak and the potential tailwind from the artificial intelligence (AI) race. Even so, the analyst cited that this will be the first time that CRM will recognize a sequential decline in subscription revenue.
Despite that, Rangan noted, “As a system of record with a plethora of customer data that can help train its LLM (large language models), CRM can benefit from Generative AI. As the macro begins to inflect, we see CRM being well positioned as it realizes the benefits from sales efficiency efforts and workforce reductions of recent quarters.” Salesforce said it will integrate its generative AI Einstein GPT into every facet of the company - sales, service, marketing, commerce and IT interaction. Pricing details were not disclosed.
I know everyone wants to hear it, next is (AI). There's no denying it, the growing popularity of artificial intelligence, in particular ChatGPT, is more than just hype. It is real. As you may have noticed, one company that's riding high on the AI wave is, which has seen its stock more than doubled as interest among investors surge. The stock has gone on a breathtaking run over the past thirty days, rising close to 90%, compared with the 3% rise in the S&P 500 index. On a year-to-date basis the performance looks even more astonishing, skyrocketing 194% compared with the 10% rise in the S&P 500 index. How much higher can its shares go? is benefiting from the increasing adoption of its services, including C3 Generative AI Product Suite, C3 AI Ex Machina (wasn't that a movie?), C3 AI ESG and C3 AI CRM. An expanding product portfolio is expected to have remained a key catalyst in driving demand for the company’s fully-integrated AI products in the fiscal fourth quarter.
During the to-be-reported quarter, the company made significant development toward its Generative AI platform, facilitating the ease of use and the capability of its enterprise AI applications. This is expected to have driven the top line. has been benefiting from strengthening industry and technology-specific partnerships. From its industry partnerships with the likes of Baker Hughes in oil & gas & chemical markets and Booz Allen in government defense sector, has been leveraging domain expertise to expand its customer footprint.
With its tech partners, C3 has been benefiting from strength in its sales capabilities besides tech and product functionality. Partnerships with the likes of Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure and Accenture are expected to have driven the top line in the to-be-reported quarter.
Aside from recently announcing that its generative AI product suite is now available as a public offer on Alphabet's Google (GOOG , GOOGL) Cloud Marketplace, the company also issued preliminary results that included positive cash flow in FQ4. This suggests that the company’s $800 million cash currently on its balance sheet will grow. Its management has sought to change the company’s business model, shifting the business away from short-term revenues to a transaction-based pricing method, while boosting long-term revenues by growing its customer base.
Those initiatives appear to be working with growth rates starting to re-accelerate. CEO Thomas Siebel said, "Since we announced C3 Generative AI, we've had intense interest from current customers and prospects to get these capabilities deployed and in use across their systems.” The product suite features enterprise search, allowing businesses to search across their database to locate and retrieve relevant information. On Wednesday, the company will look to prove that it is here to stay and has a sustainable path towards profitability.
For the three months that ended April, Wall Street expects the Redwood City, Calif.-based company to post a per-share loss of 17 cents on revenue of $71.32 million. This compares to the year-ago quarter when the loss was 21 cents per share on revenue of $72.32 million. For the full year, the loss is expected to be 46 cents per share, narrowing from 73 cents a year ago, while full-year revenue of $265.67 million would rise 5.1% year over year.
The company still has a lot to prove and important questions to answer. Namely, does it have a strong enough moat to establish a leadership position in enterprise AI software? ended Q3 with 236 customers, the same total reported at the end of Q2. In other words, there has been no sequential growth in the customer base, suggesting there’s a lack in competitive advantage and/or product interest.
As noted earlier, a few quarters ago, the company moved towards a new pricing model to help onboard new customers at a lower startup cost. This will allow the company to charge more when these same customers utilize the software at higher levels. As a result of the pricing change, there was a noticeable dip in Q3 revenues. Although the company surpassed consensus estimates, producing Q3 revenue $66.67 million, the figure declined 4.45% year over year.
The Q3 adjusted loss of 6 cents per share did surpass estimates by 16 cents. Despite the nearly 5% dip in revenues, the stock soared higher. Investors looked beyond the current numbers and instead focused on the fact that the trough in revenues had been reached. The belief is that the company’s consumption-based pricing model is now poised to generate even more revenue than the subscription model it once used. As such, the guidance the company provides today will be a key factor in the stock’s near-term direction.
Strong demand for the company’s Enterprise AI software, driven by accelerated digital modernization across major industries, is expected to have aided fiscal fourth-quarter performance.
Okta, Inc (OKTA) is next. analysts expect earnings of $0.118 per share compared to losses of $0.270 per share from the same quarter last year. They expect Okta to report sales of $511.0 million, an increase of 23.16% over the same period last year. Looking at the full year, analysts expect a profit of $0.760 per share. In the previous year there was a profit of $0.040 per share.
The company’s first-quarter fiscal 2024 results are expected to reflect the benefits of increased use cases of identity solutions and an expanding product portfolio.
Okta is expected to have experienced strong demand for its Workforce and Customer Identity solutions. Continuous innovation in its solutions have helped Okta score notable enterprises such as Sonos, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, MassMutual and OpenAI. Its products’ ability to automate processes, secure data and reduce costs has been another positive.
Demand for the company’s solutions has been strong due to the deployment of cloud and hybrid IT, digital transformation projects and the adoption of Zero Trust security. The momentum is expected to have continued in the to-be-reported quarter.
These factors are expected to have expanded the customer base in the fiscal first quarter. In the fiscal fourth quarter, Okta added 550 customers, bringing the total customer count to 17,600, up 17% year over year. Customers with more than $100K in Annual Contract Value increased 27% year over year.
However, Okta is expected to have faced challenges in execution and heightened attrition. Challenging macro environment and unfavourable forex are potential headwinds. These factors are expected to have hurt its fiscal fourth-quarter prospects.
Finally, let's take a look at Nordstrom (JWN). Their first-quarter fiscal 2023 results are expected to reflect the significant impacts of decelerating demand trends. Reduced consumer spending amid lower income groups, stemming from the tough macroeconomic environment, has been hurting revenues across both banners. Analysts expect losses of $0.105 per share compared to losses of $0.060 per share in the same quarter of the previous year. They also are expecting the company to report $3.16 billion, an decrease of 11.59% over the prior year quarter. With regard to the current fiscal year, analysts expect a profit per share of $1.87, while the previous year saw a profit of $1.69.
Management expects the impact of the winding down of Canada operations to hurt revenues in fiscal 2023. The impacts of the closure are likely to get reflected in the fiscal first-quarter results. I anticipate a decline in revenues in the to-be-reported quarter. Moreover, I expect sales to decline for both the Nordstrom banner and the Nordstrom Rack segment.
In order to maintain healthy inventory levels, Nordstrom has been undertaking additional markdowns. The higher markdowns have been weighing on gross margin, which is likely to have continued in the to-be-reported quarter.
However, the company is committed to enhancing customer experience via its Closer to You strategy, optimized supply chain and better efficiency. These endeavors are expected to have slightly offset the aforementioned declines.
Nordstrom has been focused on technology advancement by boosting e-commerce and digital networks, supply-chain channel improvement, and marketing efforts. Its mobile app has also been performing well. Alongside these, the integration of into is anticipated to have contributed to the company's top line in the to-be-reported quarter.
So what to do for earnings?
Just to keep it sweet and simple, I'm getting calls on CRWD, CRM, AI, and OKTA. And I'm getting puts on JWN. I don't expect all of them to hit, I just like to throw my money on the table and see what flies. Keep in mind tho, as with all my other posts, these are entirely meant to just educate people about what we tend to look for when making an earning prediction. I'm able to self-induce work hyperfocus with coffee, a dedicated workspace and music. I'll be super productive and can work for hours straight, just pausing for meals/watebathroom breaks. However, once I really disconnect, whether to rest at the end of the day, or after a few days if it's some sort of workload rush, I'll just not function for days or even weeks. Does this happen to anyone else? Any tips for managing it? I've tried pacing myself but I just can't, it seems to be an all or nothing sort of thing.

I 16f was dating a girl 15f for nearly 5 months I knew this girl for nearly 4 years we meet when we was just about 12 or 13 and dated on and off from there we was there for each other 24/7 we was always together the only time u wouldn't see us together was when we had different class or when we had to go home (little side note which helps with the story we both have mental health and she has been known to SH) so getting to the point it was lunch time and she had a pencil sharpener and me being the worried gf I was I took it off her because I didn't trust her not to do something after a few minutes of going back and forwards she said she wasn't going do anything stupid (another side note this girl would have episodes where she was fine one minute and the next minute she wanted to off her self thats why I didn't trust her with it) so I gave it her back after she promised we went to class now I could see into her class through my class window I didn't see anything at all through out that lesson so I thought we was good oh how I was wrong class ended and I wait for her out side her room and she comes out like nothing happened then she tells me she got told off for doing something (yall probably know what happened) in the middle of class I was shocked screamed wtf was u thinking u should of knew u was gonna get seen why would u do that I shouldn't of gave it to u now she was shocked cuz I never screamed at her like that before now I'm upset and mad at her for doing it we was walking home and usually we go to the park but it was raining so we didn't my mom phones me telling I need to go back to school I gotta stay there for an hour due to me having a C4 so I go back to school even more pissed off and now my friend was there too now my friend and my ex gf didn't get along at this time so I turn around to my friend and say I want to prank (gf name) I need ur help the prank was that I was gonna message my ex gf saying this girl has a crush on me and stuff I send the messages and stuff then when I get home she messages me back and i say its a prank and a stuff she gets mad and her mom calls me and we talk now I thought everything was fine till I get called to my head of year office and there was my ex gf and long story short my head of year saying I think yall need a break and my ex gf agrees so AITA for making that prank

New to renting#
Just moved into an apartment on the 27th and the ceiling started leaking lots of water and damaged roughly about 4,000$ worth of my items. (Laptop for work, new bed, etc) The property manager even admitted there construction guys messed up....
Rent is 3800 a month
I also had to leave the place and find an air b n d....
Laptop for work = has work that is due by next week... I won't have time to re-do all of this....
The property manager said the only option was to move into another unit which doesn't meet my requirements. I also think this isn't sufficent. He did not provide any discount or upgrade.....
I start my new job in a few days and nothing is set up, lost of time and stress.
I am going to be requesting 1 month free and also have them give me a unit to stay in until the other unit is fixed.
What you guys think, this is fair enough right?

I am a senior level software engineer with skills in Python and SQL. I have an educational background in Data Science. I also have an interest in and some experience with Big Data tools like Spark. I am looking for roles in the data engineering space. I know that I am at least decently qualified for these these types of positions.
I am actively applying but finding it extremely discouraging. Every role I have seen lists N years of experience, seemingly as a hard requirement, usually along with a laundry list of tools (some of which I know and some not). I cannot even get a single callback for an interview. This is with LinkedIn Easy Apply, mostly just due to the convenience factor. I have applied for hundreds of positions so far and nadda.
I am wondering what I need to do to get my foot in the door. I am confident I would do well in this field but landing the initial job seems close to impossible.
I have a few concrete ideas on how I could proceed here:
I am looking for advice on which direction(s) to proceed in. I have spent several of the last few years with intense schooling, and I would rather not go through another technical grind right now. I will if I have to though. I am leaning towards getting a few certifications as a substitute for experience, though I do wonder if the effort would be worth it.
My network and job networking skills are not great. I have tried to tap into my personal and professional network somewhat so far but it has come up pretty dry so far.
Any advice appreciated.

Is there an audio visualiser that varies colour by volume instead of frequency?
Right now, the available ones have individual bars being the same colour, but the bar for (eg) 100hz can be red while the bar for 500hz can be blue.
What I'm looking for is all bars are the same, but they have a gradient so the bottom (0-20db) is red, the middle (20-40db) is orange, and the top (40-60db) is yellow.
The way my old TridentZ did it (using Gskill's software), they had all the LEDs use a set colour and the music sync would only switch them on. So I could set the bottom LED to be red and the top yellow, and the music would only affect the brightness of each.
Another way I can see it being done is the background is the gradient and the music has an inverse effect on black bars in the foreground.
I don't think weird workaround like this are needed though, because the fan visualisers (in RGBBars) already do the gradient dependent on volume, just that they're in a circle instead of straight.

ich arbeite derzeit in einer Festanstellung in einem großen Konzern und habe nebenbei eine Tätigkeit als IT-Freelancer für ein kleines Unternehmen mit weniger als 15 Mitarbeitern und einem Umsatz von etwa 3 Millionen Euro im Jahr. Dieses Unternehmen betreibt ein äußerst profitables Onlinegeschäft.
Ich stehe vor der Frage, ob ich angemessen abrechne, da ich einen vergleichsweise niedrigen Stundensatz von 50€ (seit 2018) verlange. Allerdings berechne ich meinen Rechercheaufwand, der etwa 75% meiner Arbeitszeit in Anspruch nimmt, ebenfalls ab, was den Stundenlohn letztendlich aufwertet.
Ich selbst bin 30 Jahre alt und habe bereits 10 Jahre Erfahrung in der IT-Branche gesammelt, hauptsächlich im Bereich IT-Service. Meine Ausbildung und mein Studium sind ebenfalls in diesem Bereich angesiedelt. Bei dem Unternehmen, für das ich als Freelancer arbeite, bin ich sozusagen der "Mädchen-für-alles".
Die Geschäftsführer dieses Unternehmens sind sehr geschickt in Preisverhandlungen, zahlen jedoch stets pünktlich meine Rechnungen. Sie sind außerdem äußerst zufrieden mit meiner Arbeit und wir pflegen ein gutes Verhältnis zueinander. Es handelt sich hierbei um Aufträge, die ausschließlich an dieses Unternehmen vergeben wurden.

I’m cleaning my apartment so naturally I’m combing over potential relationships in GG.
There are flaws in this I know, but I was considering Jess falling for Lane. That one little half joke I love is how Mrs. Kim was able to cow Jess with a single look eliciting a quiet “Ma’am”.
My father wasn’t exactly an angry delinquent, but he didn’t do well in school and used to skip class to go the library (he’s very smart just a terrible student and this was the 70s). My mom was very sheltered and he brought her out of her shell. They bonded over music and movies and he bought her clothes she wanted for the first time in her life. He met my mom when they were 20 and 18…married a year later.
I just can see Jess finding Lane more interesting and something stabilizing about her world. Mrs. Kim is often just used as the stereotype of the stern Asian parent, but if we take her at her core she might have been really good for Jess.
(I haven’t forgotten about Dave, I promise.)

So far so good. Love my job. I’m starting to plan course for my next move. My only question is, what is the next logical jump? Should I be trying to vie for an Enterprise sales role long term? Or try to start thinking about management?
What are the pros/cons of each?
It seems like management has more progression opportunities, but enterprise is where that $$$ is.

Greetings all!
Just dive right into this, I’m not sure what I’m looking for outside of a fun conversation maybe some flirting? Whatever comes organically from that I’m all for!
About me;
I did the whole typical American dream thing I was told. I got good grades, I played sports, I went to college, I got the degree and now I have the desk job of my dreams and I make a comfortable living. Im realizing every day that I’d much rather work for myself and start my own business which is a goal I hope to attain this year.
Im an avid gamer, I grew up on Call of Duty in my teens/early 20s (no I don’t shout obscenities constantly at random people). As I got older I transitioned to MMOs and sports games to relax. I’ve played WoW for years, I currently play FFXIV and I’ve tried a few others that never held my interest.
I love being outdoors as well, which is an oxymoron for most gamers but I do enjoy it. I love nature and taking it in. As long as it doesn’t involved running I’m all for it. I am in decent shape but I’m not like a body builder or anything.
I love to laugh and not take life too seriously, I feel like there’s already enough of that in the world so I try to be carefree and laidback whenever possible.
I drink socially, I don’t smoke and I’ve never done any drugs. Pretty boring huh? Lol.
As far as attraction goes, because let’s face it that’s part of this; I’ve mainly dated outside my race my entire life (Caucasian). Not saying it’s an automatic no or anything because beauty is in the eye of the beholder yeah? Or something like that. That’s just how my relationships have gone throughout my life.

2023.05.31 18:42 Demon_Frost73 Am I The Jerk For Kicking This Entitled Karen Who Can't Swim Into The Pool.

I'm Harry a 17 year old male for a bit of a back story I have a 9 year old sister who is learning how to swim I used go too but I left a few months ago because of study and other stuff, but she got interested and joined a few weeks ago.
She knows how to float but while swimming cannot put her head in and out of the water to breathe and remember we to a public pool. I just wait outside the pool and watch over her as both parents have a job it's hard for them to manage. The pool is 5 feet deep and my sister is 4'8 so she needs to stand on her toes to walk in the pool. Now here comes the person who we refer to the entitled karen of the story. So the karen is looking over the pool not even swimming.
I go ask her and this is how the conversation goes Me: Hello ma'am aren't you swimming?
Karen: Umm... no I don't know how to swim.
Me: Ok
She looks at me while I'm telling my sister she is doing great at swimming and keep going. And some water goes in to my sister's nose and she panic's and try's to find the nearest edge she could grab onto. I tell her it's ok it had happens to everyone and it has happened to me too. She comes to me and says :
Karen : Oh, your sister can't swim how bad she is and she will never learn.
And oh she should not have said that because my sister starts crying on spot 'cause she got insulted by someone in front of like 50-60 people.
I say: your an adult shouldn't how to swim? Instead of insulting a nine year old who has just started to learn? That shuts her up for a while I tell my sister to ignore her and try her best. She ignores the karen's mean words and continuous to and actually breaks breaks her record to how far she swam in one go. I said "See you tried harder and did better." She gives my a joyful smile and try's to break that record again. After 30 minutes the sir call's everyone for a diving practice they do in the end everyone does 3-4 dives. When it's my sister's turn. She is getting into position and this karen come's and pushes her into the pool and instantly my sister's head hit's the wall and it starts bleeding I scream and get her out of the pool while the karen just sit's there and laugh while saying "that's what you get for insulting me!" I got total rage mode I kick her into the pool and also her phone with her and the phone hit's her on the head. I get very happy I rush to the nearest hospital and the doctor say "She going to get 14-15 stitches on the head she will be in the hospital for 2 days." I go back to the pool and see the shameless karen saying to every employ that i pushed my sister because I told her (karen) that I hate her which is a lie the biggest of all and says that I kicked her and threw her phone 'cause I acted like she was making a scene and the police had arrived and they put me in handcuffs I was so scared i looked around and saw the thing that saved my life. I said "If she is telling the truth check the cameras." The new manger and cop agreed karen turned pale more pale that a zombie. After a few minutes the new manger and police man come out and release me from the handcuffs and put karen in she screams that she will sue all of us and the new manger even told me that she was banned from the pool. But he didn't know 'cause he was new here. The karen get's 6 months of jail 'cause of breaking the law.
Later I found out that my sister had a crack so long story short karen got 1 year and 6months of jail time. I hope anyone won't be dealing with her soon and never does.

2023.05.31 18:42 CalendarMindless6405 Things just don't add up, Aus offers amaze me. How are things this bad here?

F1, i've applied for some Aus jobs and it's almost as if we're on another planet? They're actively asking me what my career goals and aspirations are but actually taking it seriously and putting together a good set of rotations they think will aid me (and I actually have input).
When I meet with my Educational supervisors here they basically say 'become proficient at a neuro exam' or some bullshit which i've done 300 times.
Aus is offering me £5300 (can go towards rent) just to fucking relocate there.. I mean I earn what £28k pounds atm.
Meanwhile here I have colleagues going through massive hurdles just to get some accommodation stipend/reimbursement as they're having to rent in two locations thanks to the great rotational training.
Aus is 76 hours a fortnight with weekends paid at 1.5x and nights paid at 1.25. Any hours over the 76 are paid at 1.5x and they were literally honest about the hours stating I may be doing 85-100 per fortnight depending on what rotations I pick. I expect to take home £5200/month as a goddam F2 equivalent.
I currently work something like 48 hours a week, don't get any extra pay for those dual 12 hour weekend shifts, often am forced to stay late to finish jobs and often get down to lunch after all the good options are gone as the ward round needs to take 3+ hours for some reason.
Aus has protected teaching time including procedures from consultants and regs. Theatre time rostered in. In house locums and they even stated the caveat that they don't want us to work too many hours so we don't burn out.
Here I get lectures on hyponatremia by a fellow F1 or alternative medicine, I love learning Devils claw is as effective as paracetamol at only 20x the price.
What the fuck is going on, how do we have such a disgustingly bad deal here in the UK? I didn't actually realise how bad things were until I did a few Aus interviews and they basically started showing empathy for me, it was almost embarrassing.

2023.05.31 18:42 Bugout_Boy PSA: Please don’t choose the wrong places for the PLL teams

Lacrosse has had more positive impact in my life than I can describe and I will forever be grateful to the sport. As such, I’ve worked several jobs aimed at spreading it to a wider audience/the next generation. I have a passion for growing the game.
…which is why I find myself concerned that there is support for the majority of PLL teams to end up in close proximity along the Northeast Coast. New England, New York, Maryland… all have high recognition of the sport already. The PLL is powerful in that it receives massive amounts of attention through social media, news, and other online sources. I feel it would be a far more intelligent choice, for the long term success of the game, to position at least half the teams throughout parts of the US that are still slow to pick up the sport. The Pacific Northwest, LA, the Southwest, the Midwest… having teams for those regions to watch and root for stands as a great opportunity to get sticks into more young athletes’ hands in those regions.
I’m of the view that if, say, we end up with a Boston team, a Long Island team, a Maryland Team, a Virginia team, and a Connecticut team, the reality is that as a sport, we have already found an audience in those locations, whereas if we actually spread the teams out in the less saturated areas of the US, it is more likely to have a larger positive impact on the game in the long run.
Curious how other people feel.
