I'm in a bit of an situation. I'm taking college classes in the summer after my junior of high school. I'm debating on getting a laptop so I can work on my classes when out (I'm very busy this summer), but don't know if I should spend about $500 on one that will last through college after HS (if it even will) or $200-$300 on one that will last 1-3 years.
Here's what I value in a laptop:
- Good price to performance ratio. I don't need insane amounts of storage either as I run my own homeserver and can access it from anywhere.
- Decent build quality and a good keyboard (or should I just carry a $40 mechanical 60% with me?)
- Decent battary life (6+ hours at least)
- No larger than 15.6 inch and prefereably pretty light.
Thanks for any suggestions on this, I'm really stressed about this decsion.

2023.06.04 22:06 Alexyeve Help upgrading my Clipper.

Long story short after moving to US 10 plus years ago I've been cutting my own hair, for reasons I will not disclose here.)
I've been using a Wahl Clipper I bought on Amazon under $100. And I think I'm ready for a major upgrade. Looking at youtube videos they all seem kinda sponsored pushing the same brands, I don't know they all seem a bit fishy putting down Wahl over Stylecraft and Boosted in every single video. Now I know I'm not using the high end Wahl but I don't have to use the product to know that Wahl is a time tested respectable brand. But I'm still lost with all this new information about fusion blades, rpms, lots of just sponsored bull crap in the mix.
Reddit rarly let's me down when it comes to getting good tips on purchases so I hope you can help me.
I need a cordless Clipper and trimmer, budget anywhere from $200-$400 for both. Mainly looking for build quality, stand charger option, light weight is also desirable since i have limited hand functin (cheap Wahl I've been using is a workhorse but a bit heavy)

We turn now to a Stage 1 Debate on SB229 in the name of the Scottish National Party. The question is that this Parliament approves the general principles of the Digital Library Service (Scotland) Bill

Digital Library Service (Scotland) Bill

An Act of the Scottish Parliament to establish a Scottish Digital Library Service; and for connected purposes.
Section 1: Scottish Digital Library Service
(1) There shall exist a body called the Scottish Digital Library Service, in this Act called "the Service".
(2) The purpose of the Service is to—

(a) promote the digitisation of applicable works by Scottish libraries;
(b) assist libraries with this digitisation; and
(c) make digitised copies of applicable works available to the Scottish public.

(3) The Service shall consist of the Chairperson and a number of other members not exceeding 8.
(4) The Chairperson shall be appointed by the Cabinet Secretary and the other members of the Service shall be appointed by the Chairperson.
Section 2: Digitisation of library contents
(1) In this Act "applicable work" means any work to which the Legal Deposit Libraries Act 2003 applies.

(a) However, "applicable work" does not include any work which cannot be digitised or which would be damaged by the process of digitisation, even if the Legal Deposit Libraries Act 2003 would apply to that work.

(2) By 1st January 2025 libraries must ensure that at least 50% of applicable works are available in a digital format.
(3) By 1st January 2030 libraries must ensure that all applicable works are available in a digital format.
(4) Subsections (2) and (3) do not apply to the National Library of Scotland.
(5) By 1st January 2030 the National Library of Scotland must ensure that at least 50% of applicable works are available in a digital format.
(6) By 1st January 2040 the National Library of Scotland must ensure that at least all applicable works are available in a digital format.
(7) The Service must assist libraries in digitisation by providing—

(a) equipment,
(b) expertise, and
(c) funding

to libraries where necessary.
Section 3: Unification of digital collections
(1) The Service must maintain a website on which Scottish people can access works held by libraries that have been digitised.
(2) The Service must create an app to allow access to digitised works from mobile devices.
(3) Libraries must provide copies of their digitised works to the Service to be added to its website and app.
Section 4: Consequential
(1) Section 5(1) of the Heritage Expansion (Scotland) Bill is amended to read—

(1) This Act may be cited as the National Museums Scotland & National Library of Scotland Expansion (Scotland) Act 2022.

(2) Section 3(2) of the National Museums Scotland & National Library of Scotland Expansion (Scotland) Act 2022 is repealed.
Section 5: Commencement
This Act enters into force on the day six months after it passes.
** Section 6: Short title**
This Act may be cited as the Digital Library Service (Scotland) Act 2023.
This bill was written by the Rt. Hon. Dame Faelif CB GBE PC MP MLA MSP, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Culture, on behalf of the Scottish National Party. It is inspired by the National Digital Library Service Bill.

[Leas-]Oifigear-Riaghlaidh,
Over the last few years it has become increasingly obvious that more and more Scottish people are relying on digital access to public services. Be it remote working, food delivery apps or video calls, more and more is being done over the Internet rather than in person. But libraries haven’t kept up - to take out a book one must still physically go to a library and literally speaking take out the book. The technology is there to enable online access - all it really requires is a website and a photocopier, in most cases - but this simply hasn’t yet happened.
Inspired by similar efforts in England, this Bill would require public libraries to put digitisation procedures in place, and sets out a timescale for this to occur. There’s a different timescale for the National Library of Scotland due to the size of the task, though it is my belief that this remains eminently possible - it just gives more leeway to the Library due to its holding significantly more stock than the average public library. It also creates the Scottish Digital Library Service to coordinate these efforts and provide a single unified website and app for Scots to access library books.
Oifigear-Riaghlaidh, I hope this is a measure that Members of all political persuasions can get behind - the free and unfettered access to information is an incredibly important part of building a fairer society.
Debate on this bill will end at the close of business on 7th June at 10pm BST.

I have a couple of questions about PTCGL.
What is the best way to get credits to craft cards?
Also, are there any good websites that share stats and metagame information, especially meta decks that will help me understand how to build a competitive deck.
I've built a sweet Miraidon deck utilizing Flaffy and Raikou to get a lot of benched pokemon, fill them with energy, and then attack with Raikou V who relies on benched pokemon for damage. I've gone far with this deck so far but I am starting to feel like I need to dive more into the meta!

I finally took the AM5 plunge with a X670E Taichi, 7800X3D, and DDR5. This is an update to my 2 year old X570/5900X build, and the Taichi is fantastic. Love the style, quality, and overall feel of this motherboard. I have a B550 Taichi Razer build that impressed me, and this new one is even better.
If I could change one thing it would be to make the gold parts black or gray, and if I could change two things the debug LED would be near the top of the motherboard. Neither are too bad in my dark and spacious case, and these are minor nitpicks on an otherwise great board.

I (M24) and my now ex(F23). Started dating about 9 months ago. I fell in love with her early on and asked her to be my girlfriend. I have always struggles with anger issues and through the course of our relationship I realized I have major trust issues and didn’t seem to learn from my past mistakes. I want to be honest so I will state some of the things I did in our relationship. 1. I would constantly act jealous when we go out and the slightest issues will make me mad and this would ruin her night. 2. Went through her phone multiple times. I know I was wrong for this and I admit it. 3. Would question her about her location and pick a fight if it didn’t add up. 4. Her sister who is really close to her didn’t like me and so that was usually a point of contention. 5.Wasn’t ok with her going out and it would usually end up in a fight at the end of the night.
I admit I have a lot of toxic traits but this girl gave me the best 9 months of my life and even now she is still torn whether I’m going to change or if she wants to listen to her sister and friends. I want to make the change as a man for me and also for us. I don’t think she will come back to me and to be honest she has every reason to leave. I have never loved a girl like this and knowing it was my fault that things ended really hurts. I would like some advice on whether to just learn from this and get better or try to show her I want to learn from this and build something amazing with her. Any advice works

My second Bingo, feels like I'm getting the hang of it! Last year I tried to write some small reviews, but that escalated completely and I had to break it down into various review posts. ~~This year I really try to make it as short as possible and fit it all in 1 post.~~ Yeah, worked great. No idea how to make them short enough to fit 25 reviews in one post and not create a wall of text no one's ever going to read…
Anyway here's the card so far and some mini reviews.
First my personal star rating explained:

0* DNF (Well obviously can't happen for Bingo)
1* I hated every page, I don't know why I finished, whish I gave up early.
2* There are a few things that redeem it, but mostly I didn't enjoy it. If it's a series I'll stop after that book, and probably will be cautious before reading something else from the author.
3* Not great, not terrible. If it's a series I'll maybe read on, won't look active for the author but also won't shy away in the future.
4* Really good book, there were small things bothering me, will definitely read the next book if it's a series or will look for more from the same author.
5* I love it. If asked, I wouldn't be able to name any major problems. Give me more!

5* range:

The library at mount Char by Scott Hawkins [5*]
I'll copy shamelessly my original review:

Just finished The library at mount char. Hahaha, WTF did I just read? 5*. Recommended if you want something weird… The first half reads like some mix between something out of a fever dream and someone watching an 80s action B movie, high, and taking only the weirdest things they come across. Even more remarkable in the end the different things come together and actually make sense. Somewhat. And the mix between really disturbing stuff, hilarious characters and laugh out loud moments was also, unexpected I guess?

Now after some books in between, I can say that I remember the weird first half far better than the second and some of the most memorable characters from the whole bingo sheet (so far) are out of this one.

Forge of the high mage (Path to ascendancy 4) by Ian C. Esslemont [4,5*]
Probably my favorite Esslemont Malazan book so far. I don't think I have to say much more, this is the 4th sequel in a prequel series for a "spin off" series. If you reach this book, you are probably already addicted. Just a small heads up, if you didn't like Kellanveds Reach, this book improves everywhere. spoiler free review

The infernal Battalion (The shadow campaigns 5) by Django Wexler [4*]
I started reading this series last year for Bingo Review book 1 and finished for this years. And while the military focus from book 1 stays prominent it also adds some politics in later books. But the most outstanding thing is something about characters. It's hard to find authors who write good opposite sex characters, but this is probably the only male author I read who made all his female characters so much more realistic than the males. I could name 2 male characters with a somewhat filled out past and motivation and characterization that goes above "good at his job, villain, comic relief, etc" (and with 2 I'm already generous). But I could easily name half a dozen female characters with a rich history, believable agendas and a satisfying character arc. Overall a solid 4* series, with book 2 the weakest and 3 and 4 my favorites.

Another series which I started last years bingo and finished this year. Yeah I even use it for the same square, call me lazy ;) Review book 1, since then nothing really changed, all my points from book 1 are still valid in the last one, solid 4* series overall.

Prosper's Demon by K. J. Parker [4*]
The world is full of demons. 72936 to be exact ( theydidthemath ), are looking for hosts. And while They can't die, extracting Them from their victim hurts Them. A lot. Only downside, it can also damage the vessel. So you need a special kind of person for the job.
We follow an exorcist (who is definitely not a nice person) on his personal vendetta, visit the court and meet Prosper (and his title-giving demon) who is some kind of universal genius. The story is witty (or sometimes outright funny) and I wouldn't have thought it possible to write about bronze sculpture casting in such an interesting way. Oh, and I really liked the ending…

The steel remains (A land fit for heroes 1) by Richard Morgan. [3,5*]
Review. I now also finished book two and the trend continues. A lot of focus on characters and world building, but still not much happening.

Qube (Die Welt der Hologrammatica 2) by Tom Hillenbrand [3*]
Like the first one, this was more a tech thriller with Sci-fi elements than full science fiction. It was an easy and fast read, but when I finished no characters and nothing in the plot left a lasting impression. Like in book 1 people still struggle with AI but this book adds nothing new. The interesting theme from the first book [what happens, when people upload their brains in quantum computers and can change bodies without problem, to our relationships, because who do you love when a person is today an 18 year old girl, tomorrow a 80 year old dude and next week an elf], is completely gone here. Instead we get humanity's hunt for immortality. But instead of exploring what that would mean for humankind we get a McGuffin everyone is looking for. And we get a weird out of touch fantasy side plot, that may make sense in the end but felt completely useless overall. So this book didn't add anything interesting to the world created in book 1.

The long way to a small angry planet by Becky Chambers [2,5*]
Just not my cup of tea, neither the characters nor the story ever really clicked with me and in an extremely character focused story that's probably the worst that can happen. Here we follow a new crew member on a spaceship and learn more about the rest of the crew in a nearly episodic way (it felt we get a very detailed focus on each member of the crew one after another) while the ship is on its way on a deep space mission.

Ha, nothing so far. Overall the start wasn't to bad, with nothing catastrophically bad....

If anyone has some "must reads" for those squares, I'm more than willing to give them a try. Bonus points if it's a novella and stand alone. (I don't want to start so many new series for bingo, because last year added so many + those I read already outside of bingo...)

I am utterly convinced that the 6.5 date hinted at the end of the version 1.1 livestream is connected to the suspected launch of Apple's AVR headset. I did think it could be a coincidence and was probably going to be a character trailer for silver wolf, but we have already received that since the livestream.

Apple and Hoyoverse's Relationship

It is quite clear that Apple and Hoyo have a great working relationship. At the very least, Apple hosts their product on their store and receives substantial money to continue to do so. Even if Hoyo did not pay the usual 30% fee for each IAP (In app purchase), which I expect they have a deal for less, Apple makes millions a year just from the data we have available on CN IOS revenue.
Tim Cook (Apple CEO) visited Hoyo recently, around a month before Star Rail launch. Source
Hoyoverse seemingly has exclusivity deal(s) with Apple. Genshin Impact can only run at 120 FPS on Apple products (excluding Mac as it has no official support bizarrely). I believe the same applies to Star Rail, 120 FPS is iOS/iPadOS only.

I fully believe they push HoyoLab interaction so much to build up the infrastructure needed. It's not just the daily check in rewards, but the constant campaigns they have to boost posting/using the platform.

Not just one market, two

This is even more unlikely, especially with how I mentioned the 120 FPS apple debacle.
If Hoyo made Star Rail VR compatible, they could port it to PSVR 2. Star Rail is confirmed for PS5. So, in theory if they are making Star Rail VR for Apple, it could also be used for Sony. But with how 120 FPS support is still going, I find this unlikely.

6.5 Hint not in CN livestream

To be fair here, I could be off base because the only official posting of it for CN is Bilibili right?
Assuming the link I have is the official CN livestream and not a cut down version, why does the CN livestream not have the 6.5 call out at the end from Silver Wolf? If the surprise is game related, why would CN not be included?
The only real answer must be CN is not included in whatever the surprise is. I highly doubt Hoyo would intentionally hold something back from CN.
If the surprise is related to the Apple headset, then potentially the device has not been cleared for use in CN yet.
This is iffy in how it is all related but important to note.

Im new to Diablo and have a few questions.

I have a barbarian build, and some times my player is using his 2h slashing then will use the weapons in both hands. How do i control this?

As a barbarian, what stats should i be looking for in my gear and weapons?

Thanks for the input. Im open to tips just wana build a strong player.
