I don’t want to be friends with rich kids/people
2023.05.31 16:46 Sea-Dragonfruit-3542 I don’t want to be friends with rich kids/people
I grew up with amazing parents who lived paycheck by paycheck, we’re very normal family with budget for everything. But there were times when a grain of rice is so precious to us after my dad passed away and when I was very little. So, I knew what it felt like being poor. Long time ago, I had a schoolmate who bragged about how they were going to flee/live abroad if his dad got caught with corruption, embezzlement (his dad worked for government). He ended up going to uni in Australia and enjoying the privilege he got from having rich parents. Since then, I hate being friends with rich kids, I think after certain age, it’s kid’s responsibility to know where those privilege come from and figure it out ways so your happiness don’t come from others’ misery. In reality, most of these kids don’t fucking care where the wealth comes from. In bling empire (Netflix), Anna shay’s wealth comes from weaponry. I know weapons used to defend too but those industry also the reason for oppression of innocent lives and is she even sure her weapon business only ever used to defend? How the hell she can just shop and live in luxury despite knowing all of that. Another simple example is owning a private jet, though most pollution comes from big companies but private jet increases a person carbon footprint rapidly while the kind of people using private jet live in most affected area by climate change, can they think of others in most affected area? Or companies that don’t treat their worker right and if your privilege comes from med insurance, fuck you. So many people got denied urgent treatment (expensive surgery) even after paying for so many years. Maybe not all rich kids like that, but it’s not like I have time to get to know everyone and it kills none that I act this way. So if I know they come from wealth, I set my boundaries clear. But people call me arrogant for it.

2023.05.31 11:17 PigeonofCommunism I need help with my life
I don't exactly know how to describe how I feel. A potluck of anger, sorrow, confusion, anxiety, and hope is the closest I can get to truly describing how I feel. So much of myself and my current situation in life makes me feel terrible and is driving me into a deeper depression than I've been in and have genuinely no clue on what to do. I guess the best way to get it all out is just to go through it all, so:
To preface, some information: 19M. I go to counseling. I struggle with suicidality and depression and have for many, many years. I think I might be autistic but I don't know if so and I don't know what to do to test for it. I'm bisexual. I'm currently unemployed but looking for a job (unenthusiastically). I am not religious. I am freshly graduated from high school.
For starters, me, much of myself I'm confused about. I would say I have a solid understanding of myself, but a deeper part of me still doesn't know who I am. Gender is a good example of this. I'm AMAB, but I don't feel I align with being male; yet, I don't feel I align with being female. I don't feel that I'm non-binary, nor agender. I almost feel as if I'm both. I know that I shouldn't label it as that's putting it into a box, but I feel uncomfortable with the fact that I'm unsure on as to who I am. I have basic things that I like and could characterize myself with, but these are nothing more than things I like. I don't feel I know who I am.
I build up so much self-hatred and anxiety and have no control over this. I can be in a calm state, but one little thing reminds me of my struggles and within moments, my mind will barrel into all my darker thoughts and immediate suicidality sets in. It will build up, I'll mentally shut down and disassociate, and it will kill mood for however long it lasts (sometimes just an hour, sometimes a whole week). I fear so much and either don't have enough confidence, energy, or knowledge to confront them. Examples of these are: an immense fear of confrontation, I shut down upon any negative confrontation and all of a sudden, it feels as if I'm 10 again and a parent is scolding me and I can't do anything; an immense fear of failure, simply the thought of ending up an old, bigoted person who has nothing to show for their life and having accomplished none of their dreams absolutely terrifies me to a point of mental breakdown, and is the reason why I've decided to try and make changes; and a few more that I won't be going too into as this is already really long and don't want to make it too miserable to read; a fear of being judged, a fear of loneliness, and a fear of change. All this just seems to flood my thoughts all the time, creating an overarching dark cloud of my thoughts.
I struggle to open up and be honest. This post is an example of that, as this is one of the only instances I've actually had the ability to truly say how I feel. My family is very "traditional" (AKA, very bigoted) and emotions were very often suppressed, and some of my friends are of this same demeanor. I have tried to discuss some more personal feelings with friends and family but have unanimously been met with them ignoring me, changing the subject, or responding with a half-assed answer that doesn't mean anything. My friends who are more understanding do sympathize, but again offer no real help outside of cookie-cutter answers. I know this fear stems from these events, but it's been troubling as I struggle to truly open up to counselors, people lending a hand to help, and just be honest with my intentions. From struggling to ask for comfort when I'm struggling with very dark thoughts, to telling a store clerk that I'm okay whenever they ask if I need help finding something even though I can't find what I'm looking for. That is also another issue I feel I struggle with: a feeling that I myself need to do everything and must do it alone. I go to counseling but it's been tough to go, both because of this struggle to open up with myself and it's expensive since I have no insurance.
A lack of social connection has been a major tumor on my sanity. I feel so isolated. I live in southwest Florida and I live in a house that's really far from town. It's in the woods and an hour drive anywhere I go, but it's not like I have anywhere to go. To pile onto this, majority of my friends live so far away that I can't do anything with them (and the ones that are somewhat close either make me uncomfortable to be around or keep avoiding my offers to hang out). I often find myself feeling really lonely all the time. I talk to them online often, but due to their lives they aren't able to chat so often. Another aspect that's made me feel isolated is the people I live with. I live with my grandma and my brother, both of which I get along with fine, but I can't help but feel like they don't really care for me that much. Neither show any emotional connection, and I feel as if they only care about their perception of me rather than me, if that makes sense. With my friends being distant socially and physically, and my family being so different and emotionally dead makes it rough.
I have terrible social anxiety too. I get really scared to talk to people, and heavily struggle to make conversation. I want to make friends, but it feels so difficult to keep up a conversation and to talk to them again later on. I know it's not hard. If someone starts talking to me, I can sometimes make it work no problems. I sometimes surprise myself with how fluid and calm I can be when put in a situation of open conversation, but it's so terrifying to start it every time even though I know it's not hard. God forbid I find someone attractive, because mustering up the courage to say something could only done through a push from a friend. I often begin to shut down sometimes with friendships and will want to talk to someone, and think about them, but never do anything about it, and time will move on and they will move on, and a lost opportunity occurs.
Another aspect is because of the place I live in. With such a terrible drive and a town and place and I hate, I can't help but look around and dislike this place. I am someone who despises American infrastructure and cars. I hate corporatism and suburbia that plagues the US. I often see copy-and-paste houses that are way too expensive, with extensive roads of nothing, and a plaza of stores and nothing else around here. I dislike the way things are designed and I'm reminded of this every time I leave the house. There is a segment of the town I love due to its walkable and people-centric design, but that's so far away from where I live, and way too expensive to ever live near there for the near minimum wage job I'll soon have. I wish to move somewhere else that isn't suburbia hellscape, preferably outside of the United States, but I don't know how to even begin that process. I understand that I have to live with it for now, and that there isn't anything I can do about that, but it just frustrates me.
Tying into what I previously said, I feel like I cannot do anything on my own. I struggle to figure out how to do anything, minor to major. A recurring example is a haircut. I need a haircut, I know that I can make a reservation, or walk-in, just a phone call or drive, and what do I want? A simple trimming of my hair to keep it healthy, but I struggle to begin doing it. A more major example is beginning to make a plan to move to a new city, state, or country. I can look up how to and get in-depth guides on how to, but due to the work and information, it just becomes so intense of a thought that my brain shuts down when reading and I lose all attention. The more major, usually the easier my mind falls apart. I feel incompetent in my own endeavors to do anything, from simply folding the laundry that's been piled on my chair for a couple days to making plans for my dreams (I would love to work in the film industry as a screenwriter, director, or really just anything in the field. I have many, many ideas for what I'd wish to produce with great detail but struggle to apply for colleges). I feel like I can't do anything on my own. It took me a week to build up the confidence to write this out, as I've never posted on Reddit before and get nervous about these types of things anyways.
A bit of a rapid-fire of other struggles as this is already stupid long: I've never had a romantic relationship before and that kind of weights on conscious a little bit; I can barely get my sleep schedule together, as later in the night feels less stressful and so it incentivizes my mind to stay up, but I wake up pretty late as a result; I struggle to get out of bed every morning and lie there for an hour to an hour and a half each morning before getting up; and there's probably some more I can't of right now because I'm tired.
This is a hell of a lot of text. I'm sorry about that. I have felt like I'm spiraling into an extremely deep depression and no one seems to listen or care and I won't be able to see my counselor for another 2 weeks and just need someone to throw me a lifebuoy as I drown. This feels as if it's too personal for here, I don't know, but frankly, I don't know what else to do.
Thank you.

2023.05.31 11:11 YL12345678 “FAKE SPECIALIST” YAN LIMENG
“FAKE SPECIALIST” YAN LIMENG
Overnight, Yan Limeng has caused a sensation throughout the right wing media. The senior adviser of President Trump and conservatives who has authority seem her as a hero. The social media labelled her interview as a fake news just as quickly. Scientists refused her research and said that was sophistry disguised in jargon. In fact, in the process of undergraduate to doctoral education, Yan’s areas of expertise are not virology at all, not even science. In fact, Yan’s title of “Top virologist of World” is sheer fiction. A series of papers published by Yan were copy from conspiracy theory on the Internet. Also, that is despised by the mainstream scientific community.
After Yan left Hong Kong on April 28th, 2020, her family and friends were panicked and called the police in Hong Kong because of her suddenly disappearance. Until two weeks later, Yan contacted her family that all was well. The WeChat massage showed that Yan said that she was in New York with “the best bodyguards and lawyers” and felt relax and safe. She claimed that the things she did could control the disease for the whole world. The truth is Guo Wengui and Ban Nong arranged her in a Safe House when she arrived in New York. They hired a coach to teach her how to reply the questions from media. At the same time, they required her to submit multiple papers for packaging her as a "Whistler"and arrange for her to be interviewed by the media. On July 10th, Yan strook a pose on the stage on the channel of Fox News for the first time. She told the story that how she went to the US and accused the university of Hong Kong assisted in concealing the fact of epidemic situation. However, she did not mention her relationship with Guo and Ban. Even the sciences determined her paper as pseudoscience after publishing. Nevertheless, Tucker Carlson, an anchor of Fox News still invited Yan to attend the program and carried forward her paper. This interview was viewed at least 8.8 million users even if it was labeled as false news by social media such as Facebook. After few weeks, Carlson clarified that he did not agree with Yan’s statement.
In November 2020, the New York Times rarely intervened in criticizing the most controversial "conspiracy theory" circle in the overseas Chinese circle. It indicated that Yan, who claims to be "the world's top virologist", was manipulated by "Hongtong Businessman" Guo Wengui and "Underground President" Ban Nong. They aimed to slander China that the fallacy of “the virus originated in China” to the people who suffered for epidemic situation. Ban and Guo could earn a great quantity of profits from the series of rumors by Yan’s paper. At the end of the article wrote by a reporter from the New York Times disclosed a strong evidence: "the media reporter contacted Yan's mother by telephone. Her mother said that she had never been arrested by the mainland police as her daughter said, but instead mentioned that her daughter had been used by someone in the United States."
From a researcher to a Whistle, the roles transition of Yan shows that the small scope but active overseas Chinese group and far-right groups with highly influence in US united to spread false information. The two groups saw opportunities to push their agenda in the COVID pandemic. For overseas Chinese, Yan and her remarks provide a sharp weapon for these who intend to overthrow the Chinese government. For conservative US, this could cater to the growing Anti-China sentiment in the West and distract attention from the failure of Trump government to respond to the epidemic.
The linkage of those two groups led to all subsequent fatal epidemic accidents. Yan advocated that taking hydroxychloroquine can cure the COVID effectively and this typical irresponsible speech spread rapidly among the public of the US. This caused a devastating blow to fight the epidemic of the US. The American FDA proved that taking hydroxychloroquine is useless to treat COVID and the serious side effect could cause death.
“Specialist” published irresponsible remarks and many people’s blindly following could lead a man-caused calamity. Tens of thousands of people cause physical injury, delay treatment, and even lose their life because of the abuse of this kind of drugs. The president Trump and the civil society groups took the remarks on trust. Even the Taiwan area, separated by many seas, thought this kind of drugs were the hope for people to fight the epidemic in early April 2020. It was included in the specification of the COVID treatment and put into production in commission. It was known as " put into production actively, supply without worry". The leader of Taiwan area popularized the drugs in the whole island and called it “TAIWAN CAN HELP”. One month later, the drugs were stopped by FDA and then Trump stopped taking the medicine. Related industrial chain of Taiwan lost all the capital invested.
In the event of Yan Limeng, through the publicity attribute of social media, the cultural propaganda offensive from Guo Wengui and Ban Nong made immeasurable loss in the process of resisting the epidemic all over the world.

2023.05.31 09:06 kojobrown "Dangerous" Areas of Oahu: A Guest's Perspective
Aloha.
I have lived on Oahu for 12 years. I came here when I was 20.
People who come here always inevitably ask if there are areas to avoid. Well...maybe not always, because a lot of people think Hawaii is one big beach town and don't know that life happens here too.
Anyway, having spent a lot of time in three of the areas considered most "dangerous" on Oahu, here are my impressions of Ewa Beach, Waipahu, and Waianae. (Pls excuse formatting, I'm on mobile)
- Ewa Beach
The real Ewa Beach. Hanakahi Street, Hau Bush, Papipi Road, Silva's, etc. Because a lot of people say "Ewa Beach" when they mean Ocean Pointe or Ewa Gentry. I've heard stories that back before the Gentry-fication of the area, Ewa Beach was rough. I have a good friend who, back in the 90s, had just moved to Hawaii and was set to go to Campbell. Apparently, a security guard at the school told his mom she might want to rethink that decision, as a nerdy Haole boy might not fare well at that particular school. That friend ended up going to Radford.
Today, while Ewa Beach definitely still has a reputation, I get the feeling that it has calmed down a lot. I think this is due to the expansion of greater Ewa and the influx of so many new people. Back then, Ewa Beach was isolated. It was the end of the road. Nowadays, it is a neighborhood in a much larger population center.
Ewa Beach certainly feels different from greater Ewa. It's a lot older, more local, and more "neighborhoody." It has an identity that one immediately recognizes as Ewa Beach after living here for a certain amount of time. And you can always recognize an Ewa Beach guy. I don't know how, but you can. And if you can't recognize it, you'll know it in time, because Ewa Beach people always let you know they're from Ewa Beach.
There are still stories about robberies, fights, and other unfortunate events that one hears coming out of Ewa Beach, but I would absolutely not consider it a very "dangerous" area. Rough? Sure, in some places. There were just some robberies and assaults down there. But I've never felt in grave danger being down there. Just cautious about my surroundings.
Ewa Beach is definitely an interesting place. It's a perfect encapsulation of the tension Oahu feels between the old and the new. It's a town with an old reputation for lawlessness that has lost much of its grit because of rapid Gentry-fication.
You know those old guys who you know were badass fighters in their youths? The guys who have grown overweight, are gray-haired, and who like to regale you with crazy stories from 30 years ago? They aren't as fearsome as they once were, but you still wouldn't want to be on their bad side and so you respect them. That, to me, is Ewa Beach.
- Waipahu
Go to Don Quijote and count how many languages you hear. English. Filipino. Ilocano. Marshallese. Samoan. Chuukese. Filipino. Ilocano. Filipino. Welcome to Waipahu. 94 Block.
For those who don't know, Waipahu is an old mill town that used to process a lot of sugar cane. It's not a beach town like Ewa Beach or Waianae. It's like a suburb of a suburb of Town ("Honolulu"). I mean suburb not in the sense of Suburbia, but in the sense of a town somewhat in the orbit of a larger city. I used to hate going there because it felt so congested, and then they started building the rail and I hated it even more.
Now, however, after having worked there for about a year, I love Waipahu. Old Waipahu town, from about Kunia road all the way to Waipahu High School. Yes, I know, Kunia, Waipio, and Waikele exist, but I mean Waipahu Waipahu.
It's gritty. It's historic. It can certainly be sketchy, and it's even menacing in places. I had a friend who lived on Pupuole Street, and he told me many stories about the nighttime activities in the neighborhood. Every time I went to visit him there, my head was on a swivel.
Then there's Aniani. Oh man. It's such a small neighborhood, really just a street, but it has a reputation for being pretty hectic. I've never hung out there, but I've taken rides down there and it's pretty wild. Casual fire starting, trash everywhere, sneakers hanging from power lines, addicts pushing shopping wagons full of "found" goods, etc.
My boss was born and raised in Waipahu, and when I asked her about Aniani, she told me it's always been Aniani. I even heard nobody used to deliver food there because it was too dangerous. That said, I think part of this was probably due to how tight that street is and how you have to turn around at the end to get out.
Waipahu transit station? Sweet old Filipina tutus and zombies. Times shoppers. People just passing through to get their TB shots at the Civic Center. Others passed out on the bus stop benches.
Waipahu is frequently in the news for robberies, break-ins, and other unpleasant happenings. There are a lot of homeless, many of whom are, unfortunately, addicted to drugs. I worked in a medical office in the area and we had many incidents with public disturbances, including public nudity, public masturbation, and other such quirky occurrences.
That said, there is a beauty to Waipahu. I love its diversity. It is a kind of entry point for many new Hawaii residents, especially from the Philippines, but also from Samoa, the Marshall Islands, Chuuk, etc. Mom and Pop shops, restaurants, barber shops, medical offices, and all manner of businesses line Farrington Highway. Waipahu feels unique among other Oahu towns because of its ethnic composition. These cultures give Waipahu a different kind of flavor than places like Waianae or Kapolei. The only other place I imagine has a similar vibe is Kalihi, but I haven't spent much time there.
Waipahu is very dense, as it is an immigrant town with multiple generations often living in the same small apartments. Familial living is the norm in Hawaii, but in Waipahu this is even more prevalent. It's not just parents, grandparents, and children -- it's parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, cousins, uncles, and aunties.
Is Waipahu dangerous? It certainly feels more gritty than Ewa Beach, and one certainly should take certain precautions in certain parts of the town. It's like...you're unlikely to be shot at, but there are places there where you wouldn't necessarily be surprised to see people with guns. I guess it can be dangerous, but I feel like if you know the town and how to navigate it, you'll be fine. Waipahu is certainly not Detroit, but it ain't Mililani either (Mililani seems to be becoming more like Waipahu though from what I've been seeing in the news). Overall, Waipahu is one of my favorite places on the island.
(Take a shot for every time I write the word "certainly")
- Waianae
This is the one you've been waiting on. The West Side. 96792. The Waianae Coast. If you're scared, just stay in Kapolei.
For convenience, I will refer to the whole Coast as Waianae. In reality, there are differences between Nanakuli, Maili, Waianae, and Makaha. A quick impression:
- Nanakuli feels very Hawaiian. The whole Coast is very Hawaiian, but Nanakuli in particular feels very Hawaiian.
- Maili feels like...I don't know, a kind of middle ground? Sea Country (a newer housing development, for those not in the know) is there, but it's tucked away in the back. Almost the exact opposite of Ewa Beach, where the new part is in the front. I'd say Maili feels very residential.
- Waianae proper is the heart of Oahu's Wild West. Lots of stores, food places, and other businesses.
- Makaha is country. Not a lot of stuff to buy, but a lot to explore. Far less dense than the other three towns.
But let's proceed with the conversation.
This is the area most people who aren't from Hawaii first hear about when they ask what the most dangerous part of the island is or where to stay away from. Sure, they'll hear about Kalihi. They'll hear about Wahiawa and Waipahu. But Waianae is different.
Waianae is isolated. One way in, one way out. It's far removed from the sprawl that starts in Kapolei and ends roughly somewhere after Hawaii Kai. It's closed off. This isolation is a kind of double-edged sword: on the one hand, it ensures that Waianae stays Waianae, but on the other hand, it concentrates a lot of the darker aspects of Waianae to that region.
I was once one of those new Hawaii residents, but my knowledge of Waianae was gained from Google prior to moving to Hawaii. When I arrived in Kapolei, a family member living here took me to Waianae shortly after my arrival. I was shocked. I saw homeless tents all along the road. I saw liquor stores and big lifted trucks. I smelled weed literally everywhere. I saw lots of cops in certain parts. I saw a population that looked different from the people I had just seen in Kapolei.
12 years later, I still see all of that, but I see Waianae for what it truly is: a community.
The thing about Waianae is that it's not just local, it's Hawaiian (but with a whole lotta Portuguese last names). This makes it different than somewhere like, say, Pearl City or Nuuanu. Those places have plenty of locals, but ethnically speaking, these areas are more Filipino and/or Japanese.
Waianae, on the other hand, has the highest concentration of Kanaka Maoli on Oahu, which means that local culture there is dominated by Hawaiian culture. This is where you find Hawaiian immersion schools, Hawaiian murals, and so forth. There are non-Hawaiians who live in Waianae, but the historical structure of the community is rooted in old Hawaiian culture.
I used to work at the Comp (if you know, you know). And it was at the Comp where I first learned just how strong of a community Waianae was. My co-workers would call older Patients uncle and aunty, which is obviously the norm in Hawaii, but they would actually be related to the Patients. Like, "oh yeah that's my mom's cousin" or "that's my dad's older brother." Everybody seemed to know each other from school, family ties, or some other connection. It was incredible.
After work, I'd drive home back to Kapolei, and everyone was outside. Everyone was at the beach (shout out to Nanakuli Beach Park), at the parks, taking walks, etc. And as soon as I got back to Kapolei, with its shopping centers and carefully-manicured streets, I felt like I had left something behind in Waianae.
Waianae is rough. I hesitate to use the term "ghetto," because I don't think it's quite "ghetto." It's more of a working-class country kind of vibe. It's more rural Mississippi Delta than Southside Chicago. But make no mistake, whatever you call it, Waianae is a rough area. Drugs are everywhere, shootings are not uncommon (I started writing this shortly after the chicken fight shooting and there was just another shooting at Makaha Beach) and scrapping is a beloved pastime.
It's sad to see the social issues that plague Waianae, and there is a lot of work that needs to be done in that community. But the beautiful thing is that the work is being done by the community. That's the thing about Waianae: nobody there is content with just waiting for the State to help out. Waianae takes matters into its own hands.
The State won't provide affordable housing for the house houseless? Waianae builds a houseless community.
Healthcare hard to come by in Waianae? Waianae builds a medical center.
Hawaiian language in danger of dying out among the younger generations? Waianae builds Hawaiian language immersion schools.
They say Waianae is ghetto, but I say it's proud. It's not somewhere the average tourist or newcomer to Oahu is likely to understand, so many may go once and not go back or avoid it altogether. Waianae's reputation is part of the reason it has managed to retain a certain vibe that other parts of Oahu have lost.
Is it dangerous? I hate this question. Waianae is not Rio de Janeiro, but if someone visiting from Iowa were to ask me, I'd tell them that you definitely need to understand that it's not the Hawaii they promote to tourists in the brochures. Someone from the Bronx might not consider it dangerous because there aren't swaths of gangbangers shooting at each other, but they'd be wrong in thinking Waianae is soft.
- In Conclusion
These are some of the areas newcomers to Hawaii are told are dangerous. All are on the western part of Oahu, but only Waianae is truly the West Side. Don't let some townie convince you that Kunia is the West Side. Ewa Beach and Waiaphu are sometimes referred to as the South Side, though not as often as Waianae is called the West Side.
I'd say Waianae is without a doubt the roughest area, followed by Waipahu in second place and Ewa Beach in third. But all of these areas have their charm. Waianae is naturally beautiful. The beach, the mountains, the real people of the real Hawaii. Waipahu is a diverse town with great food. And Ewa Beach is the capital of Hawaii.
I've not spent enough time in Kalihi, Wahiawa, Halawa, Palolo, etc. to give a deep analysis, but maybe next time I'll cover the "nicer" areas of Oahu like Kapolei or the really nice areas like Hawaii Kai. Or maybe the East Side or the North Shore or Kaimuki or something. I'll probably do the Laie area. That's a whole different island as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, thanks for reading.
Aloha.

2023.05.31 08:03 DocWatson42 Tipping in the US
This thread is about the recurring topic on Reddit.
My lists are always being updated and expanded when new information comes in—what did I miss or am I unaware of (even if the thread predates my membership in Reddit), and what needs correction? Even (especially) if I get a subreddit or date wrong. (Note that, other than the quotation marks, the thread titles are "sic". I only change the quotation marks to match the standard usage (double to single, etc.) when I add my own quotation marks around the threads' titles.)
The lists are in absolute ascending chronological order by the posting date, and if need be the time of the initial post, down to the minute (or second, if required—there's at least one example of this, somewhere). The dates are in DD MMMM YYYY format per personal preference, and times are in US Eastern Time ("ET") since that's how they appear to me, and I'm not going to go to the trouble of converting to another time zone. They are also in twenty-four hour format, as that's what I prefer, and it saves the trouble and confusion of a.m. and p.m. Where the same user posts the same request to different subreddits, I note the user's name in order to indicate that I am aware of the duplication.

2023.05.31 05:06 Sk1Special How to get by
I’ve lived in my car (or out of a tent or a friends couch ) on and off for almost 20 years. Assuming you’re wanting life to get better rapidly you’re not tryna be a hippy, and you’re wanting to stay in America. I will tell you exactly how to get by, and if you do it you’ll be better off, at least financially, and amazons a great way to do it if you don’t have much support, so we’re gonna stick with Amazon route for now.
During winter you work 3rd shift so you don’t freeze, during summer you work day shift. They’ve both got drawbacks.
Power! Buy a solar panel kit from harbor freight or northern tool or amazon, whatever the best deal is at the time. 100-200watts and 35-70wh is all you need (my 110watt panel, 35ah battery, and charge controller with 300watt inverter setup was roughly 200$ total and basically all you need for phone, some light vr gaming, charge your toothbrush and fan whatever) also get a battery jumper box from Walmart, just for something to charge on cloudy days and incase you’ve had to run car for something.
Temp, hot hands and cheap rated sleeping bag in the winter got me thru -25* , and I’m using a small usb fan with heat blocking window curtains and those rain guards on windows to leave them cracked in summer (it’s still unbearable in the afternoon if not in shade, I have an amc movie pass, a library pass, a planet fitness membership, and I wander around book stores or grocery stores or the mall a lot, and in winter you run the car a few minutes every couple hours.) you’ll get window fog, try to keep a window cracked to help with this, moisture is bad and also not very stealthy. Also a front sun shade.
Stealth. Everyone hates the poors now, as I said I have curtains for side windows, which I’ve taped around the edges to keep light from leaking out, stay off phone as far as talking goes, use earbuds, hopefully car doesn’t look too shitty, but never leave trash or laundry built up or around you on the ground. Have a piss bottle you change regularly. I use planet fitness to park, hospitals, camp grounds, truck stops, Walmarts but they’re iffy, paid garages, quiet streets, friends lots, whatever. When working amazon make sure to choose a fc, big parking lots so you’re less noticeable. Stay out of the way, but not too far out of the way. The idea is to blend in. Change parking spots nightly if you can, and also don’t just recycle the same order weekly. Diversify at least the part of the same lot you use. Also remember if you sleep at work, don’t be sitting there for hours before or after that with door open Just hanging out.
Food. I keep some small dry goods with me, you can get cheap camp stoves if you’re staying in the woods a lot, but way easier to use all the apps to get discounts at restaurants. The best $ wise is using amazons fridges and microwaves and free coffee tea etc. just make sure to label and rotate your food appropriately. Always keep water on you, and take a multivitamin.
Health. Sleep flat, with your shoes n socks off, your teeth brushed, after a shower and massage from Planet fitness or a $15 one from truck stop (go in with a book bag on, mention you’re annoyed they cost $ when a truckers in line and they might pay) . Take your multivitamin and drink water. Do your absolute best to sleep fully. Keep your dirty clothes washed regularly and in a bag till then, spray your boots, cars a small space to be smelly. Dog couch spray from dollar store helps. Wash your bedding. Make a bed platform in back to lay down if ya can. Vacuum and wash car when ya can. Wipe down living areas with cleaning wipes. Again small space. Wipe your a pits bs toes etc with baby wipes if you’re sweaty before/after shower. Use amazons insurance to get any necessary vaccines , glasses, mental health services, whatever you need to function. Chronic problems are draining. Try to eat salad kits not just Big Macs. Try to read a book and relax, or have a fun tinder hookup at their place. Stress kills.
$. Amazon has sign on bonuses, I regularly use. 90days from quitting can reapply, first half at 30 second half at 90 or 180 days, this can get you anywhere from 1-5k. They’ve got met. And vet a lot of places. Cross train. Learning, safety, hr, it, loss prevention. But also problem solve, pg, whatever. The more colors on your vest the less real work you do and the more varied work you can do and the more opportunity for advancement. Of course all this is dependent on you being full time blue badge, we’re again committing to an amazon way here. Do Not contribute to 401k, do choose your other benefits wisely. (Also do have your anytime Pay setup incase of emergency, but we’re tryna save, control your spending) only use pto or vacation or upt when sick or emergency. Use all the rewards programs. No load of laundry or gas tank filled without rewards. Maintenance. Keep your tires full and your oil and other fluids good. Use straight talk or mint Mobil with a Walmart phone, sub 50$ a month for phone is our goal, or the gov connectivity programs (free or reduced cost phone or wifi ) Hotels are only for holidays or when you’re sick. You’re wanting money, get it. use career choice…
Plan. So with career choice, pick a job that pays that you can probably do. Cdl, dental hygienist, it, it literally doesn’t matter. Every real job they offer is going to pay enough somewhere for you to afford rent after. Yes amazons going to fuck your schooling schedule accommodations around peak, especially since you’ve made yourself valuable. Deal with it. Career choice kicks in at 90days now. Then the programs take from like two months to 2 years. Pick a program that makes sense long term for your time, $, effort, schedule, ability etc. be realistic with yourself for your capabilities and goals when choosing. (Also 2 years experience makes you eligible to apply to L4 spots at amazon) It’s not one long week, it’s 1.5 years. It’s gonna suck. But you can do it, probably. It’s just really, really, really annoying.
Reality. So don’t waste your time with any other bs programs or excuses. Don’t give up halfway thru for a partner. Pray your presumably garbage car lasts that whole time and your health does also. Love yourself. Clock in five minutes early and late every day if you’re not on 12s, clock out for lunch after your 6th hour if you can choose your own time, do vet whenever if you’re able. You’re going to work 60-80hr weeks for the next 1-2 years (including school time) everything’s gonna seem like way too much, for too little reward, and it’s gonna seem unfair and crazy you make Amazon a million dollars and can barely afford car insurance… and I’m not debating that. But if you stick with it, barring a terrible accident or whatever and acknowledging you’ve got a car to get around (or can make a shelter and bus route or tent and Uber or scooter) work , at the end of the 1-2 years, you’ll be in a job that’s presumably better than a warehouse floor, and 3-6 months after that you’ll have enough $ saved with enough coming in to be a functional lower middle class American. Congrats you broke the poverty cycle.

2023.05.31 04:52 sal27603 Costco Connect runaround
I got auto and homeowners insurance - or so I thought - with Connect/American Family. I needed the declarations page for homeowners and it wasn't available on the website though the charge was made a week earlier.
The premium was charged by tiny agency I've never heard of in San Antonio. The house and I are in NC, and the agency is not licensed here.
I still don't know what insurer the policy is with, what its financial condition is, or whether my house is even insured. None of this was disclosed or even hinted at.
I only found out because I needed to provide proof the house is insured, which I can't.
Until this I thought the Costco name meant things were on the up and up. Now I'm not so sure, and there doesn't seem to be any way to bring this to Costco's attention.

2023.05.31 04:35 YL12345678 “FAKE SPECIALIST” YAN LIMENG

2023.05.31 03:08 Empty_Advice7902 The Dark Rise of One Piece: Anime's Loneliest Creator - The Eiichiro Oda Story!
| Is One Piece the greatest Story ever told? A full Essay / Video Documentary on Eiichiro Oda and One Piece. To me One Piece is a masterpiece but it took a lot of sacrifices for Oda to become the best selling mangaka of all time. I just hope I did him justice. This is the Rise and Controversies of Anime and Manga's most dedicated Creator. YouTube Documentary: https://youtu.be/obwz7ewVwnY At the time this is bring made is being made Eiichiro Oda has amassed an astonishing 230,000,000 Net Worth and is the creator of the highest selling manga of all time. One Piece has sold so many copies, that not only is Oda in the Guinness book of world records for the most copies ever sold of any manga or comic but it also puts his name in the top 10 highest selling fiction authors in human history. Engraving the name Eiichiro Oda next to William Shakespeare and JK Rowling. Oda is without a doubt one of the greatest and most creative story tellers of all time. https://preview.redd.it/hqtkwxdiu33b1.jpg?width=474&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aeb983436a68a455589f2ebc9f71efa2ba42a6d0 But this level us success and talent doesn’t come without sacrifices. Odas road to success is paved with A plethora of health issues both physical and mental, arrest and loneliness. One Piece has brought joy to millions of people and its success is something that Oda has dreamed of since he was 4 years old watching anime and Disney cartoons. Will act as a celebration of oda’s well earned achievements but also the over looked acknowledgment of the sacrfises, a-lot of Artist have to suffer through for our enjoyment, and dark untold truth of the manga industry. A Mangaka who escaped the industry even referred to it as “voluntary enslavement”. with an more infamous example being when kishmoto Creator Naruto and a rival of oda, finally finished his popular long running series, he reached out to oda to brag that he can now finally take a walk with his kid on a sunny day which would send the one piece author into a spiral but also motivated him to keep working so he could take walks with his family too one day. https://preview.redd.it/gpad5gauu33b1.jpg?width=512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5d3f31a424421779e3d95827d1a0da1a572ce97 Oda was born January 1st, 1975 in Kumamoto City Japan. From an early age he was obsessed with all things animated and cinema. Everything from Anime, Disney cartoons and Hollywood movies. By the age of 4 Oda had already began reading manga and immediately after he found out creating manga was a career! He couldn’t believe such a cool job existed and declared he would become a Mangaka to quote “avoid getting a real job” The manga that contributed the most to this epiphany was a series called “The Monster Kid” by fukiko a fujio. A story about a kid and his companions traveling through realms battling various Monsters. Oda claims that one of the panels from this specific manga was the first that made him want to draw and he would go on to draw endless copies of his favorite panel trying to get his drawings to look as good as Fujio’s. He simultaneously had fallen in love with an anime called “Vicky The Viking” Monster Kid A show that told the adventures of Vicky, a young Viking who would use his Witty and imaginative mind to help his friends out of tight situations. Vicky the Viking Vicky would spark odas life long fascinations with pirates and plant the seed for a idea that would eventually grow into one piece. you can see Vickies influenced sprinkled through out oda’s work. When odas dad found out about his sons newfound ambitions he decided to teach him to paint as he himself was a talented oil painter. oda credited his dad for his creative side and still shows off his dads paintings as the proud son he is. Oda became quite the proficient painter as well. One of his original paintings he did for a school project still hangs in his elementary school to this day When oda got a little older and his manga taste matured He gravitated toward the Weekly shonen Jump. A anthogly of mostly action-based manga that targets an older demographic. Oda also had started junior high around this time but admitted that it was rough for him and that he often didn’t enjoy it. The only time he would really feel happy was when he knew their was a new jump issue coming out the next day. He loved Everything from legendary Gag series Kochikame, to the action comedy Kinnikuman. A popular series in the Anthology called “Capatin Tsubasa” would even inspire oda to join his school soccer team just like the characters in the show. As you can tell he was a very impressionable and remains so to this day many of odas characters and themes are based of various pop culture icons like Jim Carrey, Eminem, the terminator and reservoir dogs to name a few you might know but also various Japanese acting and historical legends. https://preview.redd.it/xacz28kov33b1.jpg?width=474&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c48abe546e097a7abae860fe341bc9bb965e2a6 oda never dropped his love for soccer with his favorite team being Brazil. Oda revealed in a q and a that in the real world luffy would be from Brazil so I can’t help but to think this is influenced by “Capatin Tsubasa” oda would find his biggest influences though when he stubbled apon the series Dragon Ball. He was obsessed Toriyma’s art style and reread it more than any other manga. He loved his character designs and practicing them is why he said he got so good at drawing legendary buff dudes. But the most impactful thing Dragon Ball ever did for oda was show him how impactful manga could be. https://preview.redd.it/xpmlog1mv33b1.jpg?width=474&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=37f3ee26edad2c2243ed8b382f349117e10957fa When dragon ball was first gaining popularity oda remembers going to school and just seeing how his peers would react to the weekly releases. One day he would see his school get thrown into chaos by a single chapter. “When Krillin died in Dragon Ball, the whole school was thrown into turmoil. I remember someone kept running and shouting in the school, "Krillin died!!" with Jump in his hand." Seeing the influence a great story could have would completely reshaped the way oda looked at manga and reenforce his desires to master the craft himself. This feeling would last with oda and the 2nd year of jr high he would start developing his talent and began drawing sketches for a pirate based manga. Over the next several years oda would continue draw everyday in his free time even at the cost of his sleep and friends. this would be foreshadowing for how obsessive he can be when he puts his mind to something. At the age of 17 he would quit soccer in an attempt to take his mangaka ambitions more seriously. He had learned about a very prestigious manga completion from a company called shueisha. It was called the tezuka award and it was given to the best manga submitted by aspiring creators. During the same time Oda had taken a liking to an Western American Film called Young Guns, this would go on to inspire him to work 4 months on his first full-length Manga titled Wanted! it was an action gag comedy set in a western themed world. https://preview.redd.it/iofbbbd1w33b1.jpg?width=474&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a4861bcd115ef687ada71058e699de7d3fb182d Oda was very proud of this creation and was excited to submit it, but he was also concerned of his parents and teachers disapproving of his decisions to focus all his efforts onto something not school related. to fix this problem would submit his work under the pseudonym Tsuki Himizu Kikondo. Being the unknown prodigy he was he would win 2nd Place and take home a 500,000 Yen cash prize. Winning this award at such a young age would send shock waves through the manga industry. many professionals within the business started keeping their eyes on him. In early 1993, Oda would go on to get several interviews and his Manga would get published in Shueisha's Mezase Mangaka! Around this time he would drop his pseudonym and start going by his real name. Showing that he was growing a lot more confident in his work. His first professional interview would even be published in Oda’s Hometown’s most prominent newspaper. Odas life was changing fast. It was getting harder and harder for even his haters to doubt his talent. Later that year he graduated high school and entered Kyushu Tokai University under the architecture program. although he never used his architectural talents in the actual field, I can’t help but to think in played a massive part in his unique city and island designs in one piece. During university oda would continue submitting more of his work to Shueisha. Not knowing his previous win already qualified him for a spot for a monthly off shoot of the weekly Shonen Jump. This spot is is where oda would release his next manga. “God's Gift for the Future” Gods Gift This manga followed a pickpocket named bran that wanted to change his way of life but couldn’t stop his bad habits. through a series of events he winds up with a magic death note book gifted from god that can not alive anyone by writing the exact date and event in the notebook. look im just gonna say it. Gods gift for the future came out in October 1993 and Death note came out a decade later in 2003. Im not saying Ohba copied teenage odas work but there are alot of similarities and I found some threads that already been disscussing the topic. If you read all of odas work in release order, you can see how each one gets progressively better and more complex. And he defiantly has two things he was good at from the begginning. Character development and world building. Part this is due to oda admitted just loving the characters he creates and he even said cries while drawing emotional or sad scenes they have to go through. But being the near physcoeopathically ambitious machine he was. even at a young age He wasn’t satisfied with only being in a Monthly release magazine so the following year in 1994 he decided to enter a contest named Hop-Step Awards with a Manga named Ikki Yako, Oda won first place with Ikki Yako giving him his first undisputed success as a Mangaka. Ikki Yako With the back back awards and victories, oda was finally believing he had an actual chance at his dream coming to fruition, so the same year in 1994 he would drop out of university to pursue he career as a professional Mangaka. Dropping out of college is a huge deal in Japan. Even if you become a success some people will look down on you as school is seen as a right of passage to many Japanese citizens. Not as a option as it is in some other countries. Japans unique out look on hard work educationally and professionally will contribute to the dark concepts we will explore in the latter part of the video. And if you remember oda specifically didnt like school and often struggled to find enjoyment while being there. With some impressive accolades under his belt and a new found freedom oda would move to Tokyo under the charge of his editor Karou Kushima this was his officially start as as a true Mangaka. Oda had gotten a job at shonen Jump as an assistant as many inspiring mangakas do. He made practically no money but it was a necessary stepping stone all mangaka have to take if they want shot of publishing there own work one day. Some work as assistants for years or even decades with never getting that chance and often break under the extreme exceptions pushed onto them by the industry. Odas first assistant Job was for shinobu kaitani’s midoriyama police gang. It was only for the last few chapters of the series and would last just a month. But Oda claims it was extremely busy month for him and he gained an immense amount of experience about the production of a professional manga. After his manga finished Kaitani would leave Shonen Jump, Oda was sent to another Mangaka assisting creator Masaya Tokuhiro through the final years of their Manga Jungle King Tar-Chan. Tokuhiro was also the creator of the more famous Kappaman. Oda would work for Tokuhiro for a very long time. Tokuhiro was infamous for being very resistant with allowing others to help with the important parts of his work. This was hard for oda because the free time he got after his 12-14 hour shifts he would spend drawing cool ideas for his own stories and ideas he thought might work for tokukiros but his boss would never even entertain one idea, but oda would still learn alot during this time period. specifically improving his skills of background and crowd art. During this time oda would create and submit serval of his own stories to his editor kushima. and pretty much all of them would be immediately dismissed. This would hurt but he would try to not take the harsh criticism to heart. But this would all change when Oda would create and release his next manga Monsters! After throughly rereading it and then going back to all of his old works he began to see many of his inadequacies. This motivated oda to work even harder to fix his mistakes. He started thinking maybe his editor was right telling him he wasn’t ready yet. Oda was now sleeping only 5 hours night and began skipping meals because they took up to much time that he could be using to improve his craft. When Kappaman ended in Mid-1996 his new boss would also move on from shusisha and oda entered his final assistant tenure under the esteemed Nobuhiro Watsuki. Working on the best selling Manga Rurouni Kenshin or Samauri X. This would be huge for oda! Watsuki was one of the most popular mangaka not just in shonen jump but in all of Japan! He also was known to have a way more laid back style then odas previous editors. Watsuki allowed assistants to be involved in his work, speak their mind and would even review their ideas seriously. that doesn’t mean he would improve them but he felt being involved and getting hands experience was the best way to learn not just busy work for hours on in. Oda would thrive in this environment! and one of his ideas would actually pass all the hurtles and he even was credited in the Rurouni Kenshin Manga for coming up with the Character Honjō Kamatari. The great scythe. The was huge for oda and added alot of creditably to his suggestions moving forward. Oda would never forget the faith watuski sensei had in him and unfortunately this would come with some grave consciences later on. Oda was enjoying his time in watsuki studio but he remained troubled by the fact his ideas for Manga drafts continuously got rejected. Oda decided since all his new ideas wasn’t cutting he would revamp his original idea for an anime. In a last resort style effort oda began work on a pirate themed manga. He decided to call it Romance Dawn. Not feeling hopeful oda would submit it to his editor. But to odas surprise Mishima was very impressed by it and would approve for it to go into further development immediately. It would debut in a shonen jump summer special and received much praise from the readers. During the production of romance dawn oda would fall under the supervision of a new editor takanori Asada who would also believe in romance dawn. He would arrange for oda to fill the gap in the weekly shonen jump that was coming up. This was an incredibly rare and unique opportunity. Oda accepted and immediately created a 2nd version of romance dawn! Within 2 weeks it was approved by Asada as well. But a weird thing was happening. The readers Loved the unique Pirate themed story and odas handlers believed in it and saw the potential greatness in oda’s work but the higher ups where very skeptical and doubtful of Oda’s concepts and refused it entirely! Romance Dawn They didn’t wanna try anything new. They wanted more of what worked. Basically dragon ball 2.0s but oda specially set out to make the exact opposite, this was because of 2 of odas earlier influences. Dragon ball, He loved the fights and designs but wished it was more story driven and a much more random influence was the wizard of oz. Oda loved the adventure aspect of it and implemented it into many of his works but he hated the ending of the classic movie. He thought the “The real treasure was the friends we made along the way” troup was stupid. That fans deserve build up and pay off. Oda basically was inventing the slow burn of mangas. That pull you in through world building not just flashy fights. Lucky for Oda asada wasn’t having any of his supervisors nonsense and would wage war on them proclaiming that oda has something great on his hands and he would continue this campaign for months. and in May 1997, One Piece had finally been approved for publishing in Weekly Shonen Jump. If you love one piece make Sure you show resect for asada because it wasn’t for him we might have never been blessed which such a great story. Remember this was odas last ditch effort and who knows what would happen if it had failed. Soon after, Oda resigned from being Watsuki Assistant on good terms, and became a full-fledged professional Mangaka himself at the age of 22. His adventure was about to reach hights and pitfalls that he could have never imagined. And if you wanna follow me own my own adventure to be the pirate king of YouTube. This video was suppose to be saved for my 5000 subscribers special but I was so excited to drop it I couldn’t wait! it would be cool if you could get this reddit thread to 200 upvotes One Piece: This is it Oda’s obsessive nature and hard work has payed off and he wasn’t about to let it go to waste. He would double down his effort once more and from this point forward things would start moving incredible quickly. Oda would take everything’s he learned and created over the years and start immediately drafting the first 8 chapters of One Piece. Asada would lend him a hand and help him refine his ideas and offer some advice he thought could give One Piece a higher chance of success. He gave oda the advice of spicing up the first couple chapters. He thought oda had a great concept but that it wasn’t interesting enough and needed more stakes. Something too hook people and leave them wanting more. This lead to the idea of the Shanks incident in the first chapter. I think this was a great decision and set the tone for the rest of the story. On July 1997 Weekly Shonen Jump #34 had premiered the first chapter of One Piece titled Romance Dawn giving homage to his Romance Dawn Manga that started it all. When they finished they was pretty sure they had something great on their hands but they was so nervous in wouldn’t do well. They couldn’t shake their butterflies and when the 1st Volume released Oda and his editor would hide in a bookstore and watch the customers and when they seen a little boy buying the one piece volume they would shout with pure joy! This is the cutest one piece fact and know and definitely one of my favorites because it shows how much one piece really means to him. His passion would blend onto the pages and pay off. By the end of the 1st year one piece would sell 300,000 copies. Making it a hit. But this is again nothing compared to what would come. only one year later this number would grow to 6 million copies sold with no sign of slowing down. By 1999 one piece had reached over 17,000,000 prints and would receive a full length anime adaption that would be an instant smash across Japan. By 2001 oda was only 26 years old and the world was at his finger tips. He was a best selling mangaka and was getting all the interviews and festival bookings he could handle. But the most life altering appearance would happen at Jump festa 2002. Why watching the performances he would see 22 year old Chiaki Inaba a model, idol, actress, Campaign girl and Race Queen. A artistic genius in her own right. During her show she would perform in a Nami swan cosplay. Showing her love for her favorite anime character that happen to be created by Oda who was in the audience. Her beauty and talent left oda smitten. It was like a romance anime scene. He had no choice but to introduce him self later the same day. They would hit it off and her personality had him hooked. Over the next 2 years they would begin seeing each other, squeezing in dates between her performance and oda busy work schedule. In 2004 they would get married opting to have a private wedding with only their closes friends attending. Around 2004 one piece and shonen jump was more popular then ever. Manga and anime was spreading world wide. but there was an unprecedented surge in anime’s popularity in the west. The catalyst for this weeb take over would be thanks to 3 shonen Anime. One Piece, Naruto and Bleach. That would be deemed the Big 3. A titled bestowed on the 3 most popular anime of the 2000s. 3 series that completely carried shonen jump in this time period. Every anime fan in the world had one of these 3 in their top spot. later this era would be called the “Golden Age” of shonen Jump. The gap in sales of these 3 vs other series was mind blowing. And to this day the consistency of their popularity would never be repeated. All 3 of these mangaka where living their dreams but anyone with their level of ambition wants to be the best not just top 3. The 2 creators with most smoke for each other would be One piece’s Oda and Bleach’s Kubo. They 2 manga titans have had a 20 year beef that have left their fans constantly comparing the 2. The origins of this entanglement actually started because of our previously mention manga award that oda won for romance dawn. Kubo had entered the same competion and felt his win was a sure in and that it would be the launch to his own professional Mangaka adventure! But after bleach was out voted by romance dawn pushing his dreams back years. Bleach wouldn’t be released in jump til 2001! Kubo would holds oda personally responsible. in a 2017 interview when asked how he felt about his rival and he would respond saying “ I hate Oda” and revealed the 2 had a hairy run in in the 1990s. A few years later oda would have a chance to respond in his own interview during a bleach exibxit for its 20th anniversary. He was asked about Kubo and said “ years ago kubo publicly announced he hates me? Do you want to know if I hold a grudge?” “Yes I do” he went on to say he didn’t knew in kubo meant it in a perticaly rude way or in a competitive way. He said kubo has always had a competitive spirt and was a hard worker but that he does have some audacity, to to say that in public. Oda was letting everyone know he is still always down for the smoke. He would draw Kubo’s character ichigo in the one piece art style and submit it to the exhibition. Oda Draws Ichigo I love both anime but their lives sounding like real life anime rivals makes their series even better. It shows how much they both love and belive in their series. Check here down Oda and Naruto creator kishimoto also consider their self rivals but in a very different way. in 2015 oda admitted that Naruto is more popular than one piece world wide. He apricates it but it makes him jealous. https://preview.redd.it/jamhiu2xw33b1.jpg?width=474&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de87a209c908f27e9e560edf8d522866129e1c94 In 2016 kishimoto said he wanted to surpass one piece in manga sales but sadly was never able to before Naruto ended. Since then one piece popularity in the rest of the world has exploded so the final results aren’t in yet. But either way The 2 have been the dominate 2 in the world for 2 decades constantly exchanging spots. They’re respect for each other is evident as shown Through out both series easters are hidden shouting out the others manga. https://preview.redd.it/fj09lkzyw33b1.jpg?width=268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce5d77252b5a3757dc7c4f13b25e987e521f9282 But the most wholesome but scary example happened in 2013. Oda had become notorious for his machine like work ethic. He was only sleeping 3 hours a night and often would sleep at his work desk so he could wake up and be able to get back to work faster. This would cause his health to disintegrate and he would be hospaitalized. Knowing oda doesn’t like to take days off kishimoto would show up to his hospital room to check on his friend and would be shocked to see oda working on a up and coming one piece chapter. Kishimoto understood this level of work ethic better than anyone else could as arguably the other most successful mangaka of all time. Instead of asking him to stop he pulled up a chair and helped oda with his work on which woukld relived to be the legendary Dressrossa arc. A personal favorite arc of mine as you can see my avatar is designs after the arcs antagonist. They wanted this arc to be special as to not let his fans down because of his sickness. As of 2023 One Piece has sold more than 500 million copies. selling more copies than batman and harry potter. Oda is the best selling mangaka of all time and 10th highest selling fiction author in human history. The Anime adaptation of his manga is a smash hit and is growing more popular ever day. Olympians have stuck one piece posses before wining metals. Hollywood celebs have declared their love for one piece like averal lagive who eventual would send oda 2 songs for one of his movies, Jamie lee Curtis who mention robin as her favorite characters on several q and as, marvel director taika waititi rocked a luffy sweater on several occasions. One Piece film’s latest film release Earned over 15 billion yen making in the 6th highest grossing movie in Japanese history. The 4 year old that wanted to be a great manga would be so proud of oda but what has oda sacrificed for this level of success. We touched it own it a little in the kishimoto segment but to really understand or believe the truth that im about to tell you have to understand a terrifying concept in Japan called karoshi. Karoshi as phenom in Japan that translate to “over work death” in Japan the work culture is alot more extreme then most people outside of Asia can even comprehend. Japan has a 0 excuse policy in many companies not all but many. In these environment you are expected to finish all the work you are giving no matter how long it takes you. Even if you do finish your work you are not permeated to leave until anyone who is your senior is finished and you are expected to go help then instead of going home to see your family. In 2012 a documentary film maker by the name of allegra Pacheco visited Japan when she heard about the concept and was shocked to see how common this was. She would follow salavery men from their jobs and would discover dozens of them would pass out on the streets or on bus rides from complete exhaustion unable to even make it home or even move. these extreme hours leads to Japan having a high percent of work related deaths from stress heart attacks and sadly self inflicted. As of 2022, 23 percent of Japanese workers logged more than 80 hours of over time each month. Because this 1 and 5 Japanese workers are at risk of passing away from Karoshi. The Japanese government never even acknowledged this problem. That was until a 24 year old who had logged 105 hours of over time, wrote on social media that she was physically and emotionally shattered and leaped off a tall building to her end. Unfortunately this isn’t uncommon. Bcc said that it is the single highest C.O.D of men aged 20-44 in the country. there is even an infamous unalive your self forest in Japan that is the go to spot to do so. This forest gained world wide acknowledge when controversial youtuber Logan Paul went there for a day of vlogging and filmed a victim of karaoshi while his friends laughed. Understand that this a different culture don’t judge them to harshly. Im not saying this work culture is okay but its a very complicated subject. There is a theory that this was Japan’s way of restoring its economy after world war 2. with a your company is your family and you should give it all to them mindset. I dont think these traits of these phenom are a exactly comparable to oda for one reason. Oda does thing willingly. no one is forcing him to do this with his level of wealth and influence he could easy retire or reallocate the more time consuming work but instead he opts to take on the brunt of the load. This doesn’t make his fans any less concerned. Based on odas own words and interviews with his editors Oda works 21 hours of a day. The few hours he sleeps is often not even concurrent but instead broken up into 30 minute intervals through his workday whenever he gets a chance. That way he doesn’t have to relocate and can get back to work faster. When he does sleep the 3 straight hours he aims for 2am-to 5am. That way he is still the first back at the office. Other mangaka in the industry refere to oda a machine. As even though he is producing a weekly manga his art is on pare with months release manga. as where manga like Vinland saga have entire months to work on releases oda has to come out with a chapter and episode every single week and it still competes with the season series in quality. He does all this with working with the smallest team possible so he can fill more attached to his work. This goes so far that when he has to re tell passed events. He re draws them instead of reusing old art work to save time like most artist. His editors reportedly thinks and talks about one piece 24/7 even when he isn’t working. When his editor Naoki Kawashima joined odas team he said oda told him to “die for One Piece” he went on to insure him. If you destroy your health do to your work ethic. I will forever take care of your family financially. Dont think of this as oda being a bad boss. Just a acknowledge of series they take what they are creating. I watched and read dozen of interviews in peroration for this video and I couldn’t find 1 of his employee that had anything negative to say about him. Everyone who has worked for oda said it it so fun and welcoming environment. That when you see how hard he works it makes you want to work hard to and do your part to contribute to the greatness that is one piece. Oda doesn’t even want fame he just wants to create a great series. In all his interviews he hinds his face or request to have it covered in post edits. Japan loves oda. He can’t walk down the street without be swarmed by fans. In his interview grown man giggle with glee everytime he speaks. Which makes me happy they respect him as much as I do. That being said his unhealthy life leaves them very worried and oda knows his fans are concerned. even after 20 years he work schedule has eased up. In a 2021 tv interview oda opened up about he doesn’t have time to bathe, shave or even eat. He has got so lost in work that his asstaince have to come and ask him to please eat something. He does just forget sometime but other times he doesn’t eat on purpose. in 2012 oda said “The only way I can think of new ideas is to think about it alot without sleeping and eating. Because humans can only come up with truly new ideas when they reach they’re limit. So every time I am done with my manuscript I am completey exhausted.” This statement is beautiful but sad to me. Especially when you factor that oda has got moderate diabetes and goutes as a result of his work schedule and being in his work chair for so many hours at a time. In the same interview he said he always bathes before seeing his family to wash off his work mode. but that he rarely gets a chance to see them. As we mentioned, after Naruto ended kishimoto bragged to oda he can now talk a walk with his son when ever he wanted as a flex to oda about finally finishing his series as a fellow obsessive he knew the kinda pressure oda lives under and the sacfrices he is making. Them have a personal relationship may have been a way of kishmoto pleading for oda to take a break, as they have even been to each others houses. Oda only gets to visit his home once a week as he sleeps in his studio the other 6 days. So his only sees his daughters and wife 4 times a month. One reason is he finds this necessary to keep his weekly deadlines. The 2nd but sadder reason is oda fears if he spends more time with them than that he will want to stop making one piece because he will miss his family to much… one of the only times oda wandered if he should quit one piece was on one of his weekly visits his daughter said “dad you are to busy to spend time with me” Oda is currently Bringing in 30 million dollars a year from one piece royalties alone. He is currently the richest mangaka to ever live. So he is dedication to his craft is completly by choice as he has long since passed the threadsold of retirement wealth. Oda keeps going to make all of his fans and people who believe in him proud. In a marizine interview in 2017 oda said “My fans are worried about my short sleep but sleep is just a waste of time I prefer collecting information for manga. I want to become a robot that doesn’t need sleep. Even when I go on trips with my family I dont sleep much” This level of obligation for his fans is endearing but it was his loyalty to his formal sensei that would cause the most damaging controversy in oda’s entire career. In November of 2017 Tokyo Metropolitan Police lead a a raid on a residents house they had been investigating on suspicion of the sell of CP. During the analysis of the purps computer they found the evidence they needed but also a link that lead them Shockingly to the one and only Nobuhiro Watsuki. Yes the creator of rurouni kenshin and Sensei to our own Eichhiro Oda. Shortly after watsuki house and studio was raided. The investigators suspicions where unfortunately confirmed and over a 100 dvd was confiscated as evidence. With some of the victims of the tapes being as young as 10 years old. He was arrested and during the interrogation he immediately confessed and went into a unnecessary amount of detail to the investigators “I like girls in the higher grades of elementary school to the second grade of junior High” After he was charged shuisha put his series on indefinite hiatus. This sent shock ways through Japan as up to this point he was one of best selling and most respected mangakas ever and lots of new rising talent came from his tutor-edge. His reputation was tarnished but he controversially received the lightest sentence legally possible. A fine of only 1800 $ and never served a single day in jail. People where understandably out raged when it became public. Which is how oda stumbled into the cross hairs of this PR disaster. It all started with a tweet from shonen jump stating oda and watauski will be doing a joint interview on April 24th 2020. During the q and a Oda was asked what it was like working for watsuki and oda said “ I worked for him just under 4 months. Which Maybe the happiest moment in my entire life." The fanbase was instantly split down the middle. With one side declaring that even remebering fondly about someone who did what watsuki was charged was blasphemy and that it was in away supporting him. This side even share a short lived “Cancel Oda” hash tag. The other side felt like since oda has never done anything of the sort him self and didn’t know anything about it, he shouldn’t be forced to rewrite his history that lead him to where he is now. Even Watuski wife didn’t know what he was up to. Oda has only have good things said about him from his employees and from what i can tell is a great kind person who has donated lots of money to charities and his hometown. even though i am bias as a one piece super fan. I think the truth as always lies somewhere in the middle. Oda is without a doubt though one of the greatest and most successful writers in human history but let me know what you think of Oda Sensei in the comments. 2023.05.31 02:53 williamtbash Curious about wedding costs and traditions as a foreigner marrying a woman in Kuwait.
Quick backstory, I'm an American man, planning on marrying my Kuwait/Egyptian girlfriend. Her family lives in Kuwait, she lives in Egypt. I live in America. I travel there occasionally to see her but it's tough. She's the best I have no question about that. I live in a very great, but expensive part of the US. She will be moving here with me after the wedding. We are both middle to upper-middle class. We both are not very materialistic but I'm super stressed after learning everything about wedding planning and after-marriage.
In the US, especially where I live, it's extremely expensive for everything. Unless you're super rich, most married couples work, save, and contribute to expenses. It's easier here in some ways because here you might date for a while, and eventually live together for a few years, both saving money for things like a wedding, a new house, etc. It's just how it goes.
We're getting to the point of marriage and it seems like I'm just responsible to pay for everything under the sun in terms of the wedding, a dowry or mahr, houses, everything, where the money she makes is just for her to spend how she wants?
Weddings are expensive here if they are large, but usually the wife's family pays for the wedding, the groom's family pays for the engagement party, and if not they're both saving for a while to afford a nice wedding.
With this, I feel like I'm going to have to save up myself for two years just to be able to get married.
Don't get me wrong, I want to be the provider, but it's just not fathomable here where houses cost almost 1 million USD (307,505 Kuwait dinars), kids cost a ton, education for kids costs a ton, everything costs a ton, and salaries here are hard to find over $150k per year. We make good money but I feel like I'm going to have to make half a million USD per year to be the only provider. She wants to work as well but in my mind, if we both make $150,000 USD, I will be left with negative money while she saves a whopping $150,000 per year for herself. Seems crazy.
It would be easier if we could get engaged and live together for a year and save money together for a wedding, but she can't move here and I can't even live with her until we are married so I feel like this will take another year just to get the ball moving.
Then this mahr, I have no idea how much that will cost me, I need to buy an expensive ring, an expensive wedding, an expensive mahr? Like I understand their traditions but it's not 1960 where a single provider was easy.
On top of that, she tells me will the mahr this is insurance if we get divorced so she will have money, except in America if we get divorced she basically gets half of all of my money and property as well.
Am I overthinking all this? I have no idea how much things should cost. I feel like I need to save up $60,000 USD before I even get married, just to get married, which in America takes a long time to do with all of our current costs. She said she wants a small wedding, but small to her is 70-100 people. Would having the wedding in Egypt instead save me a lot of money? How can I make this work? Shes definitely worth it but I just don't know how it will all work.
Any help or advice would be great.

2023.05.31 01:47 lovelyvibes4 dealing with difficult recurrent thoughts
I don’t want to say “intrusive thoughts” because I don’t think I have those.
For background: I grew up in an abusive household. I have CPTSD, depression and anxiety. I have been thinking I may be autistic as well however my current insurance sucks and I haven’t been to any mental health services since college (about 5 years ago) Im on a medication regimen I’m happy with and I did do regular therapy for a long time.
Recently, probably the last year, I have had a really difficult time controlling my anxious thoughts and/or getting disturbing shit out of my head. For example, there was a horrible news story about a teenage boy who got really badly beaten up. For one, I couldn’t stop thinking about that poor boy and his family, I am crying now thinking about him. Before that it was a recent mass shooting. I read an article snippet on Twitter, mostly by accident, and a horrific line I will not share with you all stuck in my head. I threw up from thinking/sobbing about it. Not only do I feel utterly devastated for the people that it happened to; I get it in my head how horrible I would feel if it happened to someone I loved and then I literally feel like my heart is shattering.
I don’t know what to do. It’s so bad like I can read or see or hear something fucked up and it will just stick in my head for weeks.
Also this is only when it is real people who are harmed, books and shows are mostly fine.
I don’t know what this issue is and I’m really upset because the last 5-6 years I finally felt like I had myself somewhat together.
(I know I should go back to therapy, I’m nervous and a broke American)

2023.05.31 01:15 djdefenda iAVs (Sandponics) Plans to Feed 4 People
| https://preview.redd.it/ixw0euygd33b1.png?width=701&format=png&auto=webp&s=3f9df7afa50e391421f7537431961bfdde929217 Our continuing research reveals that one can realize both fish and fresh vegetable produce sufficient to feed a family of four, year-long, on a plot merely big enough to park the typical family car. ( A large American style car! ) A wide range of vegetable crops may be grown in various combinations including tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, eggplant, peppers, beans, lettuce, other greens and herbs; even tree seedlings for reforestation projects. Yields from the research conducted in Raleigh NC indicate that over 50 kilograms of tilapia may be harvested per year for each cubic meter of water cultured (individual fish harvested periodically as they reach 250 grams), plus about 360 kilograms of tomatoes or other vegetable fruits. At these yield rates, a “parking space” sized unit with 3 cubic meters of water and 14 square meters of vegetable filter bed could yield 150 kg of fish and 1100 kg of vegetable fruits per year (an average of 3 kg (7 lb) fish and 21 kg (46 lb) vegetables each week). Including annualized losses for evapotranspiration and incorporation into biomass (food) at 85% of total input and a seepage loss of 6%, each liter of water utilized by the IAVS technique can produce 6 g FW of fish and 17 g DW of vegetables. The IAVS technique removes the fish waste products (unconsumed feed, fish metabolites, and dead algae), which accumulate on the bottom of the fish-culture tank, and recirculates the purified water which stimulates rapid fish growth. The waste-ladened water is passed through a physical filter (the sand bed), and a ‘living filter’ (the vegetable crops and micro-flora resident in the sand bed), and finally across an aerating cascade (or other aeration device) as it is returned to the fish-culture tank. Aeration increases the amount of oxygen dissolved in the water which increases the carrying capacity of the tank as well as increasing 2 the rate of fish growth. The nutrient-loaded water percolates through the filter bed sand, as the largest waste particles are physically filtered from the water at the filter surface. The finer particles and dissolved nutrients are absorbed by the plant roots and the numerous micro-organisms which inhabit the filter bed. The cleaned water tumbles across the cascade aerator by gravity as it returns to the fish tank for another cycle. The filtration/ irrigation event is repeated at regular intervals during daylight hours for as many as eight times per day. The principle operational criterion is to incrementally and cumulatively circulate the equivalent of the total fish tank volume (at a minimum) through the filter bed every day. Once a IAVS operation is installed, the only inputs are fingerlings, seed or transplants, feed for the fish, and some form of energy by which to move the water. Many fish-feed mixes, using locally available resources, have been formulated by various technical assistance organizations. (Note that standard commercial feed formulations are generally not desirable because they may contain high levels of certain trace elements which can build to toxic levels in a tightly-coupled system such as this.) Suitable feed may be locally produced in virtually any rural community (irregardless of region) from readily available resources or it may be prepared to order by commercial feed merchants. In any case, neither the availability nor the cost of feed need be prohibitive since each kilogram of feed input to the system will result in the production of approximately 0.75 kg of fish and 6.70 kg of fresh vegetables. An IAVS facility can be built in the open air and the water circulated with only a bucket, or it may be enclosed within a protective structure of plastic film and/or mesh screening. Improved water movement may be accomplished by employing mechanical water pumps (human or animal powered) or with electric pumps operated by automated timers. Some sort of roof (protective enclosure) is often desirable because it reduces evaporation losses, can double as a plant support for vertically cultivated species, can screen out many potential insect pests, can form a barrier to rain-borne plant diseases and, in areas of torrential rains, prevents flooding of the fish tank and filter bed to eliminate the consequent loss of production. The key functional requirements of the sand are that the entire filte plant bed drain both completely and fairly rapidly. This is necessary such that the plants do not drown and to insure that a sufficient volume of fish tank water can be circulated each day by which to maintain adequate filtration of the fish wastes and to sufficiently oxygenate the returning water as it falls through the cascade aerator. Therefore, the sand should be fairly coarse, with virtually zero “fines” content (no particles below 200 microns in diameter). The ideal filter sand has a consistency approximately that of common table salt or of granulated sugar with no powdery fraction (larger particles can easily be screened out, if necessary). It is usually relatively easy to find a source of an appropriate grade of sand. Balancing the amount of fish to the number of plants (actually the rate of feed input to the rate of plant growth) is a crucial management consideration for attaining best results. Too few plants and the water would not be sufficiently purified for reapplication in the fish culture tank; too few fish and the plants would not receive sufficient nutrition. To that extent, operation of an IAVS requires some managerial skill (which can, obviously, only come with experience). However, the range of fish to plant balance is fairly broad, meaning the IAVS technique is relatively “user friendly” and well buffered against rapid changes in water chemistry which could lead to less than most desirable results or longer-term problems. Some previous gardening/husbandry experience on the part of the prospective operator is considered highly desirable. Minimal training in general aquaculture management, pest prevention and mitigation techniques, and simple water quality monitoring techniques is recommended for first-time operators. Even trained operators can sometimes make management “mistakes” in balancing the system’s biological components but these can be readily recognized with regular monitoring (or experienced observation) and “corrected” long before they adversely impair productivity The longer an IAVS system (actually a miniature, managed, and complete ecosystem) is allowed to mature (continuously operated without interruption in, or an excess, in feed input rate), the more stable it will tend to become (biologically and chemically). Also over time, operator(s) gain experience in balancing inputs with outputs and refine (develop) management skills which further increase productivity. Typically, IAVS facilities develop into functionally mature ecosystems within three months from initialization and are considered to be fully mature following one-year of continuous management/operation. The INTEGRATED AQUA-VEGECULTURE SYSTEM holds substantial promise for providing limited-resource farmers an opportunity to augment both the family diet and their income. The prospect of producing meaningful quantities of nutritious food with a minimum adverse impact on the environment is significant. Written by Doug Sanders, a world recognized expert in Horticulture. 2023.05.30 21:13 Intelligent-Ad-6025 The CDC's Most Recent Webinar On How They Plan To Treat Chronic Pain
The CDC’s and Other Government Health Agencies Skewer the Chronically Ill, Chronic Pain and Disabled Population; A Commentary on The Latest “Guidelines” From The CDC:
(please refer to webinar)
If you don't want to watch this whopping eight minute video about government ran agencies talking about how to run our health care services for those with chronic pain, chronic illness or disabilities. Or, if you have watched it but don't really know what it means, then I will just tell you what this about and what it means. Most of this is in response to taking away or banning in many instances, the use of certain medications used to treat chronic illnesses and chronic pain that has left people disabled. They are admitting the pull out of opioids/opiates as well as their attacks on other medications such as Benzodiazepines, ADHD medications and in some states they have gone as far to reclassify muscle relaxers and Gabapentinoids as scheduled 2 narcotics. The fall out from this has left many chronic pain patients, chronically ill and disabled people without ANY health care, greater mortality rate, higher rate of homelessness, less functionality, poorer quality of life and many doctors that were not pill mills but still locked up in prison for the rest of their lives for running pain treatment centers in rural areas. They also bring up that, curiously, even though opioid/opiate prescribing is lower then it has ever been in US history, they are seeing a steep incline of illicit use of opiates amongst the adolescent demographic, to which they have never seen before. They do not understand this because young folks who have "muscle skeletal" pain are usually prescribed NSAID's or acetaminophen; they just can't figure out why the rate of illicit opiates in this demographic is higher then it has ever been when they are not even being exposed to prescription opiates. That's it they end that issue just sort of scratching their heads. According to their data if some one has not been exposed to prescription opioids/opiates these children shouldn't be doing this. According to their data NSAID's and Tylenol should be efficient enough pain relief for any and all types of muscle skeletal chronic pain conditions. I won't put words in their mouth or give you my opinion on why that is, even though my opinion would be based on some very good data, medical studies and other types of studies that have been conducted over the years. I will say that I think I shouldn't have to give anyone that opinion because I think the answer is obvious; keep in mind these kids are too young to have ever been exposed to opioids/opiate medications or crooked marketing strategies by Perdu. They go on to promote something called "healthy people by 2030" which is a government health based website that advocates for many healthy life practices and choices. One of those things is making sure that the chiropractic's industry stays open for customers, not for free at a charge, to make sure they are accommodating the needs of chronic pain patients. I am not sure why this is said and done because chiropractic treatment has been available and continues to be. They go onto say those with loved ones, friends and family that are chronic pain patients; empathy and sympathy is what is needed most. "Many times chronic pain sufferers will try to pretend they are not in pain. If this is your loved one or a friend or family member, make sure to have plenty of empathy and sympathy. Also pay attention to their body language, if they are rubbing the part of their body that is in pain or making facial expressions it's important to remind them not to over work themselves. That they need to take time to sit and rest; we need to get society to where we are stopping chronic pain at it roots". So what that means is that they expect everyone in society, employers, family, friends, loved ones, complete strangers the entirety of the health community to accommodate any all with chronic pain conditions (disability is not specified just chronic pain period). This is their answer, and the CDC is endorsing this, on how to treat chronic pain, chronic illness and disabilities in the absence of effective treatment (effective treatment being used currently is not discussed but current effective treatment implies without the use of opioid/opiate medications). Ok, so this is really confusing if you have not been keeping up with this stuff so let me fill you in on what this means in a deeper sense. As a person who has chronic pain, chronic illness or a disability. What you are supposed to do is make sure you are regularly attending physical therapy (cost estimate as much as $3,000 a session and as low as $45 for a "wellness" checkup that is only 30 min standard session is 1 hour fees vary depending on insurance, what company or if no insurance at all). Typically they recommend physical therapy once a week or every other week; although many primary and family care physicians understand once a month to be more practical for low or lack of income individuals (the CDC and Medicare almost demand once a week). You are also supposed to attend a gym and have an active membership. You are to seek a psychologist for cognitive behavioral therapy or psycho therapy to deal and manage your pain (costs on this can very widely as well as much as $200 a session). You are to see a psychiatrist to make sure your psychiatric needs are met with medications for mood management. You are also supposed to attend "mindfulness training" once a week; which is a fancy name for meditation. You are also supposed to attend either (and this is the only one they give options on) a chiropractor or get acupuncture done once a week. You are to follow up with your primary or family care physician to stay compliant on your meds (NSAID's, Tylenol, muscle relaxers, and then usually one of the following sometimes combined with one other thing but usually one; Tricyclic, SSRI, SNRI, anti-psychotic or anti-depressant that plays with neuro-nucleotides like Cymbalta, Amitriptyline, Nortriptyline, Effexor, Haldol as some examples, Steroids or Gabapentenoids such as Gabapentin or Pregabalin aka Lyrica). You are also supposed to see a pain management specialist at least once every other week (per CDC) for trigger point injections and nerve blocks or ESI's aka epidural injections (these can cost in a wide range as much as $5,000 for one injection the lowest I have personally seen is $2,000 for one injection to which some report as little as 4 hours of pain relief some injections patients report only 4 days of pain relief we are told these are supposed to relieve pain for as long as several months but really this is dependent on what pain condition you have and what is causing it and what type of injection is received for the injection). On top of all that they want to make sure that as a chronic pain patient, chronically ill or disabled to make sure to keep up with your social life by spending quality time with friends, family and loved ones. To make sure you are financially secure with either a job or disability/retirement benefits for those who apply (job is emphasized over over social programs). Lastly, to make sure you are eating healthy and getting between 8 to 10 hours of sleep a night (this is all per CDC and other government health agencies including CSMS for those whom are on retirement benefits). Now where were we, so essentially they want the entire society to let any one with chronic pain or illness or disabled to be allowed to go at their own pace. Allow for late appointments. Take breaks and rest as needed and avoid doing anything that causes or exacerbates chronic pain or illness and disabilities in the first place. They are not doing this as a policy they are doing this as a guideline so no company, corporation, business or any personnel is held to this by any legal measure. Once again I could insert my own take on this based on pretty solid evidence, but I think this is unnecessary as it should be obvious what the outcome of this will actually look like. I'll just ask this simple question; do you see an employer doing any of this for a customer or employee? Do you see all these different health care agencies accommodating to all their patients being late due to being slow and thus not punctual for this menagerie of different health care specialties the government health agencies want us to attend? The CDC seriously pushes for all, not just a couple, but all listed health specialties; and the other government health care agencies agree without question. They go on to talk about how they think the reason doctors feel so pressure by the CDC, DOJ and DEA in the helping of managing chronic pain or illness and disabilities is nothing more then they have not attended any of the CDC's seminar's; which are being updated for the fourth time in this single year. They say that doctors need to take time to understand and have deep conversations to understand their patients needs. That doctors need to be there for patients when in need of social rehabilitation and assistance such as obtaining a case worker, social worker or disability (which if you've been in this situation you know they will not do due to health insurance regulations, government interference, regulation or policy enforced by the company they work for or affiliated hospital, shortage on doctors due to covid and arresting so many for prescribing meds, health practices and administrations that run health offices running on a profit based model that basically demands that each patient visit only be 15 minutes to maximize the number of patients seen in one hour and legal issues in which many expert witnesses, colleges and other entities have sued doctors over the prospect of money which results in the termination of their job and license). Nope, none of that, it's all because they did not attend the CDC seminars that are continuously out of date and currently being "updated again" to ensure that doctors are staying compliant with the guidelines that are an unreasonable expectation at best and consistently changing. As one of the panelists says "after all these are not policies they are guidelines, and if no one knows how to work within those guidelines because they haven't taken the seminars they won't know how to implement them. We are really struggling with this one because when we passed the opiate prescribing guidelines for 2022 they were very strict and many states independently adopted these guidelines into law and policy that are different from state to state, but pretty much all do the same thing. We never intended them to be laws and policies but merely guidelines. When we released the 2023 opiate prescribing guidelines, we went back to the less strict guidelines resembling that of the 2016 opiate prescribing guidelines where the MME count was at 90MME instead of 50MME...we have seen no change in state accordance". These people act like our social safety nets are as accessible as over the counter Ibuprofen, when in fact they almost as accessible as the opioids/opiates they sought out to completely ban and obliterate out of our society regardless of the consequences is has had on health care providers and the chronic pain or illness and disabled people they were used to give back quality of life, pain relief and functionality. Andrew Klodney (one of the chief panel members that created the 2016 opiate prescribing guidelines) said "an entire generation needs to die in order for people to see my greatness". I don't think he meant to quote Hitler, but that is something Hitler did say; astonishingly Hitler also took opiate pain meds away from the chronically ill or in pain and disabled. Hitler also promoted "euthanasia" as a "humane and ethical way of helping those suffering to die with dignity". It wasn't until later many people found out he wasn't just euthanizing people who were in end of life care (or lack there of due to no opiates given to the general public, and only administered to his inner circle), as a humane and ethical way of dying with dignity; he was just killing anyone who had any kind of chronic pain, chronic illness, disability and that includes mental disabilities as well. Back on topic, the fact of the matter is our social safety nets, social rehabilitative services (SRS) like the SSA , food stamps, financial assistance and on have been slowly having their funding cut and certain facets of it being privatized over the years. The past ten years we have seen the most cuts and privatization of these programs then any other time in US history since their inception by FDR. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has not only been red taped but it is out dated. One of the reasons why you may have had your disability case denied is because the judge that decides on your case confirms the local job market with a job coach or vocational rehab specialist. The judge looks at your limitations and asks "based on this persons limitations, education and experience are their jobs in the local area this person can do and how likely is it that they can get one of these jobs?". The career specialist is financially incentivized to find a reason to deny a disability case for one. Two they do have to go off of what the current job market economy looks like, they only have to go off what it looked like since the ADA was last updated which was back in the 90's. This career specialist is absolutely reciting jobs that no longer exist and haven't existed since the late 90's or early 2000's and completely ignore the fact that things like pre covid door greeters are a thing of the past. They ignore the fact that job codes and other nifty legal loop hole language in job applications specifically designed to get around the ADA exist. They completely ignore that a vast majority of the republican party representatives have deregulated capitalism to the point of crony capitalism in the name of free market capitalism (give the employer the freedom to hire who they want and decide for themselves what is or is not a "reasonable accommodation"). This is so much to the point of government protections, I spoke with a disability discrimination attorney who said "the big corporations have got so much government protection and have been deregulated to the point I cannot even do my job. Many disability discrimination lawyers have changed their title or quit. There is no certainty or guarantee that anyone can hold a company accountable for disability discrimination anymore". To top all that off there are many company owned health care facilities, although this is not federally or state mandatory, have created policies where they are no longer taking private payers; people without health insurance. Some states are requiring each person who is disabled to reapply for disability every year, some states require that a person cannot be on disability for more then five years regardless of their disability statis. The state of Pennsylvania, to my understanding, has moved the retirement age up to 66 and the District of Columbia to age 67 some have considered even higher all the way up to age 71. Many states have cut food stamp spending or almost cut them all together to where many people who have been on food stamps for years have had their food stamps taken away from them entirely. In the state I reside in I was denied Medicaid due to the fact that, while he is my fiancé, we are not legally married and as far as they know he is nothing but a roommate. They denied my Medicaid claim because for a two person household, regardless of the relationship that person holds with you, one cannot make over the amount of $24,000 a year; I guess that is an acceptable amount for two people even when the money being made that is over $24k is not the person claiming Medicaid, but someone else's hard earned money. The mantra of the very conservative and traditionalist government when it comes to our social safety nets is one that would take us all the way back to the 1800's. Absent of major infrastructure where we all lived in small communities and everyone knew each other; they think it is the job of your friends, family and community to take care of you and not the government to which any one who has worked has paid taxes to support. The CDC and other government health agencies have made a catastrophe as the systems they are relying on are out dated, defunded and privatized. It is a system that essentially funnels people into homelessness and is one of the contributing factors as to why our homeless population continues to rise at what should be seen as 'at an alarming rate'. Which has led to outbreaks of diseases we have not seen since the 1800's like tuberculosis and cholera, due to all the human feces on the sidewalks and streets. I have been saying, it is a highly unsustainable system for the democrats to pretend they are the only party, take away pain meds which are the cheapest pain management regiment and most effective with limited risks comparatively, especially for those whom are disabled due to chronic pain and chronic illness and most likely to be unemployed or on disability. To take away opioid/opiate medications, act like they have the power to give all this untreated disabled patients with chronic pain and illness unfettered access to social programs when they do not have the ability to do this as every bill in the senate and congress put forward to do so in blocked, filibustered or expelled by the republican party. Along with that any headway progress that is made is undone on the state level where some states even redirect their social welfare funds to other entities like private home communities and private schools claiming "it stops early pregnancy and facilitates fiscal responsibility which helps homeless rates decline"; even though many chronic pain or chronic illnesses cannot be help or are caused by over working. Then the republican party red taps, defunds and privatizes our social programs. Then the republican party deregulates the market to where you cannot even hold a company accountable to nearly any laws at all. This is a system that is very dysfunctional as one is not guarantied disability income, health care, financial assistance, pain medication, employment and even if you do get employment there is no guarantee they have to do anything to accommodate your disability or health needs aside form allowing a person an inhaler for asthma or to make sure they can take their insulin during lunch. The CDC and the government health agencies that follow them blindly pretend that non of that is even ever an issue. In the webinar they even make claims that suggest if every one just lives as healthy as they possibly can, then no one would ever develop any underlying health conditions. I hate to be the arbiter of truth, but that is simply not true (that's me being nice it's BS with a capital B and we all know it). I don't know how we went from a society that understood snake oil pushers are everywhere to a society that might as well be saying we should live like the boy in the plastic bubble. Bubble or not the reality is as we grow old we fall apart and eventually we will die. You can live your life as healthy as humanly possible, and there is nothing wrong with that, but it will not stop anyone from growing old and dying nor will it stop all chronic pain or illnesses resulting in disability. Many of these things can be obtained genetically, many are from dangerous work environments that are physically intensive manual labor or repetitive and being overworked (70 hour work weeks are becoming the norm). Many times it is a combination of genetics labor. Being as healthy as you can by including (this is a real thing) waring SPF lotion inside can be helpful and lower risks but they are not a deterrent. We are incapable at this time of not only offering a suitable replacement for opioids/opiate medications, but we are also incapable at this point in time of having a society completely free of underlying health conditions such as chronic pain or illness and disability especially one where no one grows old and dies; one could easily argue we may never see such an existence as it may not even be possible. My final thought on all this is that I really don't care what kind of "guidelines" the CDC makes and other health agencies. Even if they make them into policy, how are they going to get an entire society and everything in it to accommodate (not even all) chronic pain or ill disabled people. People you don't even know, with so many conditions that cannot even be seen as they are internal. How is that even possible? Is that even possible or is this nothing more then fantasy or pipe dream? I know many people try their best and most have empathy and sympathy, but we can't even get what we already have to work in the favor of chronic pain or illness and disabilities to work now. Although many full able bodied people have the best intentions they have things going on in their life such as maintaining a sleep cycle, a social life and many of the above mentioned prescriptions given to chronic pain and illness people or those with disabilities by the CDC themselves. As the saying goes, there's only so much time in a day; and well there's only so many years to a life. Let us not deny the cold reality, taking care of a full grown adult with a chronic pain condition, chronic illness and disabilities is very arduous and taxing and most don't have the time or energy to take care of every chronic pain or illness disabled person for the 24/7 needs they may have. Let us also not pretend that every one out there has it in them to be 'the good Samaritan' especially multi-conglomerate corporations who hold a for profit model even if it is at the expense of another's well being or life and in this day age at the cost of our own society. There are many that will not engage with this, cut corners, do the bare minimum or just flat out not do it. They could be doctors, police they could be anyone within this society; ultimately it is a standard that cannot even be enforced and wont and I can pretty much guarantee that. This is the CDC's proposal of what to do since they took our pain meds away and chronic pain patients suicide rates have gone up 400%. They did this with no back up plan and since chronic pain patients and the chronically ill and disabled have had their health care turned into a joke with no resources to help. Taking away pain meds has also not caused a drop in the use and overdose of illicit opiates/opioids, it's gotten worse as many who seek their medical benefits take to the streets and become another number. The CDC members responsible for this just sit around scratching their heads like this couldn't possibly be due to the fact that they took away a safe supply leaving the entire population of society with either an illicit contaminated supply or the worst opioids or opiates possible which is buprenorphine (Suboxone) and Methadone; regardless if one is a recreational user or some one who needs them to function as close to a resemblance of their old life as possible for medical reasons; basically an entire rehash of prohibition and or the lead up to Nazi occupied Germany as if we have collective amnesia and haven't learned anything in the last 100 years at all.

2023.05.30 21:13 Mysterious_Walk_945 First time Home Owner, Car hit my Garage. No Electric or Water. Confused on process and responsibility.
I live in a HOA run condo home area with a garage underneath.
As of 5/14, a TeslaVehicle, electric car accelerated into my garage and my neighbors garage. Neither of us have electricity because the Electric Company shut off our electric till a licensed electrician could fix the damage.
I got a licensed electrician to come by and just to give me a quote and it was $160 and I paid him out of pocket. I have also had to stay at a hotel because I can't be home without electricity to charge devices to work and make calls and its been 2 weeks and I'm draining money with no actual answers.
I come to find out this task requires a General Contractor who project manages everything who has tried to be helpful and we have obviously been getting the run around on who should be responsible for what. There are 3 insurances involved and 3 home owners with property damage.
Insurance:
- The At-Fault party the TeslaVehicle insurance, is American Family Insurance that is accepting fault but wants to go through the HOA's insurance
- The Interior Walls Insurance (with SafeCo) which is my Home Owners Insurance but I don't have loss of use coverage. They also said the HOA's insurance should be taking the lead on this
- The External Walls is insured with HOA's insurance but now they are saying they are not responsible for the electric smart meter even though it is mounted on the walls outside.
I cannot keep paying for a hotel stay as I am running out of money. No one is giving me a clear answer and I cannot afford an attorney.

2023.05.30 20:57 Omegaduckatron Obesity does not just affect you.
Before you ask, this applies to America. I am an American.
On a personal level, if you’re obese, you’re a burden to your family, and will be more of a burden the older you get for the people that end up having to take care of you. Not that it’ll be as long as most, because you don’t see many obese 70 year olds around. On your way to however old you’re going to get, your quality of life and health will be so low, it’ll only expedite the process. You’re also more than likely teaching your children horrible habits that they’ll pass onto their children, and so on, which in my opinion, is neglect.
On an every day level, your size is a problem for everyone else in a public space. Trains, buses, airplanes, everywhere. Not to mention taking handicap resources due to your obesity. It’s inconvenient for everyone, including you.
On a national level, death by preventable lifestyle related illnesses are all in the top 10 causes of death. That’s not even including the care up to that point. That all raises insurance rates, and more or less ensures that we won’t be able to afford any sort of socialized medicine, the way things are. During times like the pandemic, we established early on that obesity was the number 2 factor behind age to predict the severity of Covid, which absolutely bogged down our medical care system. One last point that no one seems to talk about, is just how much more massive our carbon footprint is, just from half the population being obese (not just overweight, OBESE).
No, it’s not your genetics. They didn’t evolve in the last 100 years to make you hold all that weight.
No, they’re not all thyroid problems. They’re self control problems 99% of the time. Even if it was a thyroid problem, your body can’t beat the laws of thermodynamics.
No, it’s not cheaper to eat fast food and trash snacks, than quality whole food. It just doesn’t taste as good. Get over it. Learn to be a better cook.
Yes, most food is bad for you, and our FDA is a joke. That doesn’t mean you need to keep shoveling twinkies and ding dongs in your mouth, because you don’t have someone to regulate your food for you.
This rant was inspired by a trip to the grocery store, getting stuck behind multiple people (entire obese families), big enough to take up the whole isle on their little scooters by themselves.
Edit: I noticed some people arguing over BMI. I’ve got news for you. If you’re 5’8” and a 300lbs muscle mountain that has to turn sideways to fit through doorways, you’re still unhealthy, and cutting your life short. BMI works fine for 95% of the population. Shut up.
Edit again: If anyone sees this, feels inspired, and actually wants to lose weight, shoot me a DM. I’ll help to the best of my ability.
