Tuesday evening we came home to find my dog with her face very swollen and acting very lethargic. We brought her to the emergency vet and they treated her for an ear infection, told us to give her gabapentin for the pain, and sent her home. But the next day it really hadn’t improved so we brought her to the normal vet. They weren’t quite sure what it is but we’re guessing it was some sort of bite or sting. She has one potential puncture wound on her ear (though that isn’t really where most of the swelling is). They gave her antibiotics and steroids.
Back at home, she is attempting to drink water when we offer it to her but a lot of it just seems to fall back out of her mouth. She’s only eating occasionally and in very small amounts. I think her mouth hurts. She can be coaxed to get up and go outside to pee, but otherwise she just stays in bed and is very lethargic. We gave her some fluids (had them on hand because one of the other dogs has kidney disease) on the recommendation of a vet tech since we were concerned she was becoming dehydrated. We’re planning on getting her more fluids tomorrow once the vet opens.
She just overall seems to be in a lot of pain and it’s not clear whether she is really improving. She did have a fever when it first happened and that seems to have gone away, but aside from that her face is still very swollen and she won’t eat and is still very lethargic. I do really miss it in someways, but I’ve realized how much cannabis has affected my life.
Yes, I still performed well at work, I make decent money, I have my own place and vehicle, savings, and a little cat. On the outside, I looked like I was doing pretty well. On the inside though I was a mess.
I was not living a fulfilling life at all. I’d come home after working at a job that I hate, usually with some take out, and then smoke (since I had to be baked to eat for whatever reason). Then I’d sit on the couch, turn on the tv, and either play a video game or go on my phone. Sometimes I’d get really paranoid about interactions at work, I’d overanalyze everything I said. I hate my job, I’d be high and crying over it, but I never had the energy to do anything about it. God forbid I’d hold off on smoking for a few hours to update my resume.
Now.. I realize how blind I’ve been. My life can be fulfilling without weed - I’ve been working out, being a little more social, getting back into dating, cutting out a toxic friend, AND I’m likely going to move home and finish my degree. I’m still struggling with my depression, but I’m taking steps to actually fix it now. It’s SO nice to not have to plan my entire day around smoking, I can leave the house and drive whenever I want. Weed really wasn’t making me happy, it masked the sadness, hopelessness, and dissatisfaction I had with life.
I feel like Theoden in Lord of the Rings, when his aging was reversed. The fog has been lifted.

note: I understand that tantrums are a normal part of toddler behavior so I am not trying to complain. I just would like to know if there is anything we can do to lessen them for all of our sakes. Furthermore, I have a worry about son's language development, as outlined below. Sorry that the post is kind of everywhere; multitasking is not my forte and that's what I'm currently doing.
Our son is 19.5 months old. My husband stays with him while I work during the day, and then we both take care of him when I get home. My husband works overnight. We have no familial support as we live in another country to family, and there isn't really a concept of babysitting where we live.
All three of us are having a really tough time with tantrums lately. We feel so bad for our son and also are kind of losing our minds a little. We're wondering if there is anything we can do to help the situation? I do follow some instagram accounts dealing with toddler tantrums and things, but many of them rely on communication that we don't yet have with our son. I also think that I listened to a podcast for "Little Big Feelings" previously but am not sure that was the name.
He can express about 50 words but the less we give him what he wants, the less he uses them. I think it is possible that he feels we don't understand what he wants and is giving up on using the words. I also feel guilty that we may have confused him, because in order to solidify the meaning of words in the beginning and encourage him to use them, we would give him what he asked for if he used the word for it. Now we don't do that every time, but he doesn't understand the explanation for why.
A typical scenario is he will exclaim "Juice!" and we will allow him 1 juice box (they are really tiny and very low sugar in our country). But then, after finishing, he says "Juice!" again and we cannot give him another juice box. We are gentle and say things like "You can't have the juice right now, honey. Would you like water in a cup or sippy?" and give him an option. We've also tried not giving him options and just offering the water (sometimes nudging the straw into his mouth to see if he realizes he's actually thirsty, if he seems amenable to that), etc. When this inevitably leads to fullblown frustration for him, we do offer hugs and comfort when he is ready, stroke his back, etc. He doesn't hit or push us away but it seems he doesn't calm down either. He kind of snuggles into us crying or will throw himself on the ground and then come hug us and cry and try to appeal again by saying "Juice?" and then cry and fling himself again when we don't give it-- rinse and repeat.
This happens for everything he would like to have. Another example is books. If he had it his way, we would read to him 8 hours a day. But we can't always interact with him just because we are home. He wants constant interaction and doesn't like just sitting there while my husband and I talk (I mean we play with him a ton but eventually we need to sort of talk to each other and do our own things/chores too). He likes being involved in our chores but it is hard to find tasks that aren't dangerous for him-- he ALWAYS wants to be doing the same jobs my husband and I do. If I have him stirring up ingredients, he will love doing that until I go to chop something or to the stove and then he wants to be doing that too and starts crying. I feel happy that our son loves and trusts us to the degree it seems he does, but he also does not give us any space whatsoever and I would like him to play with his own toys for more than 5 minutes at a time. We do teach him how, but he isn't interested without a friend to play with.
Distractions also are not working like they used to. Even if we physically remove him from the thing that caused the upset and take him to another room, he is in aguish.
My husband and I are wondering what the next move is. We have read online that some people are of the opinion that a tantrum needs an "audience." So we have toyed with the idea of possibly leaving the room, which for sure would upset him immensely but then he might calm down. However, we are really torn because it also seems cruel and we wouldn't want to do it without many others backing up that it may be ultimately a good idea or better for the child in the longrun or something? I've read that it's not good for a child to stay in a tantrum state because then it's easier to get "into" that state, but perhaps that is rubbish (really lost over here on what's good or bad info, too).
I know that tantrums are normal, but is there any way we can decrease the length and severity? Our son eats well and gets sunshine and exercise each day. His schedule is also quite regular and he sleeps well too.

My wife and I close on our first house in May. I've gotten quotes from Liberty Mutual, Geico, and Progressive. Progressive is by far the cheapest, which just confirms the brand loyalty I have for them due to...their low rates. Seriously - we pay them $750/year for car insurance (2 cars, comprehensive/collision on both, $750 deductible), $125/year for renter's insurance, and $15/year for a replacement policy on her $4000 engagement ring.
Progressive quoted me $1300/year for very standard coverage on a $400k+ home. I can't help feeling like there's a catch, but I thought the same thing when I first went with them for car insurance. I don't have any claim experience with them, but I hesitate to pay an extra $1000/year to go with a different company when Progressive's claim experience could end up being totally fine.
Any help for a (soon to be) new homeowner? I've seen the suggestions to go with an independent agent. For some reason I doubt they'd really be able to save me any money.

I don't really watch Grey's Anatomy, but the two episodes I have watched over the last couple of months have been about women's health, abortion rights, and access to abortion. As an aside, I heard a guest on NPR make the distinction between abortion right and access, which I thought important.
I live in a liberal state where abortion is legal. I take for it for granted, and emotionally charges episodes of Grey's Anatomy like tonight's, which featured violent and murderous pro-life protesters, really bring home the abortion crisis for me.
As another aside, a professor at the college where I work pointed out that we're the United States of America, but so many laws vary from state to state. The Dobbs decision reflects this for me (abortion being a long-standing controversial topic).
I just wanted to air my thoughts.

Hi, so long story short I have 2 pairs of young rats (8-12 weeks old) and am thinking of ways to bond them as they are also new to me (only been home 4 days). Just by coincidence my tamer rats are in a smaller cage, and my more timid/nervous rats are in the 3 story cage. I was thinking to help me bond with the younger ones they may also do well in the smaller cage. Would it be a good idea, to add the 2 more nervous rats into the smaller cage with the other 2 tranquil ones for maybe a week, while they get to know each other and also get to know me, before them all then being moved back in the large cage? This would be a slow and monitored transition like normal bonding, but end result they would all live in the smaller cage for a bit. Any advise welcome :)

Option 1
GameSir X2 Pro
Has all the features Im looking for but looks blockish so might be the most unergonomic , could be 100% wrong but thats what it looks from pics . Currently on sale $63
Option 2
Razer Kishi v2
Again has all the features I mention but looks cramped and again could be wrong but it costs a lot more . $99
Option 3
BackBone
Looks like the most ergonomic out of the 3 but not sure if it has virtual controller mapping ( pretty sure it does not ) I guess you can you use Mantis but my experience wasnt that great and not a very intuitive APP , maybe I was using it wrong but either way when I tried it I was not impressed .$99
There is also the GameVice Flex but pretty sure it wont fit my device also the Moga controllers but those are mainly BT connected and are very unwieldly looking
Would be willing to sppend the extra money if the Kishi or BackBone are worth it but TBH leaning torwards the GameSir X2 Pro , not becuase its the cheapest ( it helps ) but it looks like it covers a lot of what Im looking for.
Will look at other options too but virtual control mapping is a big requirement. Sorry for the long winded post and will gladly listen to all opinions and would be great yo hear owner user reviews for each.

I use my Ele as a daily driver and was headed home from work, sitting in traffic, when the car in front of me just rolled right back into me. No idea what was going on, if they just let go of the clutch or if something else was happening. It’s city traffic and I couldn’t get out or stop, and he just pulled away and disappeared (I have a blurry pic of his plate and that’s about it). Big city life.
It was more than just a parking tap, I leave a good distance between myself and the car in front (unfortunately in this case) and it looks like the metal beam just in front of my radiator took the brunt of it and is warped in a few places. Thankfully, it didn’t hit the radiator but it’s only a little less than an inch away—too close for comfort. So I was hoping to see if anyone knows what that part is? I’ve been digging over schematics all night and can’t seem to find it; it’s the bar just below the radiator opening in the bumper cover but not on the bumper schematic.
Also, anything else I should be looking for? I’m about to do a full suspension overhaul so it’s pretty crap timing as I’m getting ready to put so much money back into the car. Thoughts?

Everyday I feel exhausted and drained, absolutely gutted. When I get home I try my hardest to get stuff done but eventually my energy levels catch up with me and I go to bed. I always am on the brink of total blissful sleep but always a small peep or a creek or something immediately shatters it. It causes me to become enraged, literally enraged. I feel my heartbeat skyrocket and I’m immediately ready to fight to the death with whatever entity is in my way. I don’t know why this happens to me, everyday I pray for sleep, everyday I come close, everyday it doesn’t happen. I think it enrages me because I know I’ve lost, it’s over. I’m not sleeping tonight. I’m so close to trying to get ahold of sleeping pills, I told myself I’d never rely on any sort of medication since my father was an extremely drug addicted man, but idk what else to do. I literally cannot catch a good nights sleep
