Tried driving to Texas from NY with parents. I was housebound in ‘20 and fought like heck to make my world bigger.
Somehow I managed to make it to Kentucky, even though I haven’t been further than 2 hours from home in 3 years, and this is where the wheels came off.
Couldn’t go any further and had epic PA after driving 1/3 of the way there. Had to turn around..
I just don’t think it’s possible for me to drive the entire 27-28 hours there. While the idea of flying is terrifying. I was wondering if I could be successful with a combination of driving and flying. If I could maybe fly a distance close to 2/3 the way there with the help of meds, then maybe I could drive the rest? Or maybe drive to an airport further away so it’s a shorter flight time.
Anybody every do something like this?

Hello everyone! Later this week I’m going to be flying from one U.S state to another. I’m not flying out of the country or anything like that, so it’s not a passport related issue. I’m just confused of the process of being able to actually GET on the flight. I’ve only been on two trips in my life where I had to go through the airport, but I was a child, and I wasn’t paying attention to anything and just mesmerized by the journey. I’m going to be visiting family, and someone else is buying the plane ticket for me. Now that I’m an adult, I’ve fought the battle of DMV and finally got an ID, so at least that’s out of the way. I just don’t know what I do when I get into the airport, when should I be where. I wasn’t sure where to ask these questions. It may seem so easy to some of you, but I’m not used to doing things by myself. Thank you everyone :)

We're installing the screen in the basement of our new home. Doing measurements on the space, the space where the screen would be on the wall is 129" wide. The space will be right next to the sliding door out to the backyard, so we'll take a look at the appropriate type of curtains to put over the door to keep the room darker when we want to watch during the daytime.

How we will use it
We have a living area on the main floor that will also have a TV, and I work from home and plan on having my work setup in the basement area as well, so I imagine the main floor will be where most of the daytime TV watching will happen when my partner is not at work. All that to say, I don't think there's gonna be a ton of using this setup during the daytime.
We'd use this mostly for movies, sports, and your typical Netflix streaming. In addition, I'm a gamer and would like to be able to do some light gaming on it. I'll play any competitive games on my PC, so this would be used for single-player story-driven games (God of War, Horizon Forbidden West, etc.) or local multiplayer games when friends come over.

- BenQ X300I - $2000. Easiest on the budget, great for gaming. Contrast is lower, and as someone who has never had a projector before, the RBE issues have me worried.
- Epson 5050UB - $2500. Have only heard really great things about this, but I worry about the fact that it's not actually 4K. Mentally, it feels like that's a big downside, combined with the fact that it's an older model at this point.
- Optoma UHZ50 - $2800. Out of my personal budget of what I'd want to spend, but it seems to check the boxes. True 4K, better contrast, and seems to be highly regarded as well. Is it worth stretching a little bit?
For those who have experience with room setups, did I miss anything? Trying to do my due diligence to make sure I'm not making any big mistakes in the new home. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I'm a 27M, currently studying in uni here in Canada. Average looking guy, unironically have too much money to spend for my own, I have my own house and a good job. I'm living an introvert's paradise. But it's starting to take a toll on me.
I have bestfriends and family, but I'm always alone. I'd like to think that it's not too hard to get a date for me since I've tried, managed to hook up once in a while but it's always unsettling for me. Not just for me but my partners. I feel like I could be so much more and is still capable to be in a good relationship, there's just one problem. My ex wife ruined me and it scares me to no end that people are just out to take advantage of me.
Let's jump back about 12 years ago when we first became boyfriend and girlfriend. She is a mega stacy, malakas mang okray, and just the worst and also the best person I ever met that time. Half of our college life, I spent courting her friend who never reciprocated my feelings. It was okay, I was young, I went after the cutest girl in our room, it was a love based on looks i guess. So when her friend got a boyfriend, I gave up and just focus on my career. She was always my wingman so nung na busted ako, she just laughed at me. She's the worst person afterall. On our 3rd-4th year, we became close friends, best friends in fact. It was hard to say that I love her romantically because I see her as a tropa or maybe kapatid, or maybe I just distanced myself from her enough to avoid it, but I can tell it's there. She's not a very romantic person either, she loves kpop, very girly, but not the type of girl who has crushes on guys. She's also an introvert like me so we had the mutual boundary respect going on.
A month before we graduated, my papers to move to Canada as a permanent resident was accepted and we had to move on the next month right away. That's when I first realized I'm going to have to leave her and the thought nearly broke me. This is the first time I realized I actually love her. If her friend was 9/10, she was an 8 in appearance but is an 11/10 on everything else. So I confessed, I told her I love her and her reply was basically "I think I love you too but we're about to enter an LDR so I'm really not sure. Let's just stay the way we are and see where it goes."
6 years later we're still going strong. Everything I did for the past years was all for her. I got my first house, I saved tons that it's enough to let us travel to different countries after she accepts to marry me. So I went back home in PH, asked her to marry me and she did. I saved for a church wedding too but first we agreed to get a civil wedding first just so I could process her papers and bring her to Canada with me. It was the best time of our life and we're both happy. Until we're not.
Maybe the trauma clouded my memories, even as I type this, I'm trying to remember the events that concluded before the day I lost her. June 2019, 3rd month after our wedding, we're still happy, but I'm back to Canada and grinding for more savings. We were so contented and just waiting for her papers to be processed. November 2019, something happened to her relating to her sister's husband trying to make a move on her. Pina demanda nmin and I remember being so mad. February is fast approaching, and she's still not messaging me. At this point I've already been spamming our messenger for weeks. I've contacted her friends, sisters and mother and they won't tell me anything aside from just "give her time". Our trip to France was set and I went there myself, spend 2 days alone in a hotel before I decided to cut it short and go home. (I got lucky because the next day, they closed down the whole country). So I'm back here in Canada, waiting and just working. Worried sick and full of anxiety.
And just like that, I lost my wife and never heard of her again.
Of course I went through the stages of grief. I was in a loophole. Maybe she just needs more time.. Maybe she cheated? Maybe i fucked up for not apologizing to her on our last argument 6 months ago. By the end of 2020 I was in deep depression and I never really attempted suicide but the thought to this day lingers. It's just that, everytime the thought of killing myself becomes ripe, my bestfriends would always be there to distract me and give me a good time. Seeing my mother helped a lot too. I can't break her heart so I mostly fought for her. I haven't given her a proper gift since I was born because I didn't had a job back then and when I did get one, I was already so focus to my wife. The last thing I could do to her is give her a dead child. It was a harrowing 2 years of knowing nothing and just moving in autopilot. The box was so small that the ball just keeps bumping that button and it always fucks me up when it does. In those 2 years I've also burned through my savings building my expensive ass PCs, games, alchohol, weeds and traveling across Canada to hook up.
It was only last year when I finally got tired of my loophole that I finally started dragging myself to move on inch by inch. I started working again and got a good job. I'm making new friends and pursuing my career. I made peace with my unresolved past and each day, the box grows bigger for me, giving me more time and space to breathe on.
Today my ball hit the button and my world was falling apart until I got this off my chest by writing this. Thanks for reading.

I'm a 27M, currently studying in uni here in Canada. Average looking guy, unironically have too much money to spend for my own, I have my own house and a good job. I'm living an introvert's paradise. But it's starting to take a toll on me.
I have bestfriends and family, but I'm always alone. I'd like to think that it's not too hard to get a date for me since I've tried, managed to hook up once in a while but it's always unsettling for me. Not just for me but my partners. I feel like I could be so much more and is still capable to be in a good relationship, there's just one problem. My ex wife ruined me and it scares me to no end that people are just out to take advantage of me.
Let's jump back about 12 years ago when we first became boyfriend and girlfriend. She is a mega stacy, malakas mang okray, and just the worst and also the best person I ever met that time. Half of our college life, I spent courting her friend who never reciprocated my feelings. It was okay, I was young, I went after the cutest girl in our room, it was a love based on looks i guess. So when her friend got a boyfriend, I gave up and just focus on my career. She was always my wingman so nung na busted ako, she just laughed at me. She's the worst person afterall. On our 3rd-4th year, we became close friends, best friends in fact. It was hard to say that I love her romantically because I see her as a tropa or maybe kapatid, or maybe I just distanced myself from her enough to avoid it, but I can tell it's there. She's not a very romantic person either, she loves kpop, very girly, but not the type of girl who has crushes on guys. She's also an introvert like me so we had the mutual boundary respect going on.
A month before we graduated, my papers to move to Canada as a permanent resident was accepted and we had to move on the next month right away. That's when I first realized I'm going to have to leave her and the thought nearly broke me. This is the first time I realized I actually love her. If her friend was 9/10, she was an 8 in appearance but is an 11/10 on everything else. So I confessed, I told her I love her and her reply was basically "I think I love you too but we're about to enter an LDR so I'm really not sure. Let's just stay the way we are and see where it goes."
6 years later we're still going strong. Everything I did for the past years was all for her. I got my first house, I saved tons that it's enough to let us travel to different countries after she accepts to marry me. So I went back home in PH, asked her to marry me and she did. I saved for a church wedding too but first we agreed to get a civil wedding first just so I could process her papers and bring her to Canada with me. It was the best time of our life and we're both happy. Until we're not.
Maybe the trauma clouded my memories, even as I type this, I'm trying to remember the events that concluded before the day I lost her. June 2019, 3rd month after our wedding, we're still happy, but I'm back to Canada and grinding for more savings. We were so contented and just waiting for her papers to be processed. I have enough points to fly business class one way for two people to or from Europe. I'm inclined to book business class coming from Europe to the USA because the jet streams always making traveling west longer, and I would rather be more comfortable for a longer flight. I've seen some posts through searching about possible gas surcharges flying from Europe back to the US. My question is there typically a noticeable difference between better point redemption flying to or from Europe? Is one recommended over the other?
I plan to use UR points and will be looking to book my tickets either with Aeroplan (since my plan to use United for partner airlines won't work with their recent devaluation), British Airways (could use Iberia but it seems they release availability after BA), and possibly Virgin Atlantic (although won't be very likely as there's only 1 Delta route I see for my trip)

Yesterday my boyfriend of 2 and a half years broke up with me. It completely threw me, i knew he had been struggling recently with anxiety issues, particularly for the past week. Yesterday before he broke up with me I suggested that he should go to see a doctor but he said he just wanted to wallow. I don’t know what to do, I don’t feel I fully understand why he broke up with me, he just said he didn’t feel like he could be in relationship anymore but he did not say anything past this. I’ve really tried my absolute best to be there for him and I’m disappointed and slightly angry that he didn’t let me know quite how bad it was before, he hadn’t given me an indication that the relationship had been feeling stifling for him and I needed the opportunity to try to help him properly.

 | That week before January 3rd 2022, I never would have believed any doctor that my 428lb self would be down 130lbs only a year and a half later. Don't just take one hospital/medical center's point of view. I can't tell you how many times I was told I wouldn't need surgery, I just needed to "try harder" on my own. If I hadn't already been trying harder, I wouldn't require more help, now would I? 2. Do your research. I can't emphasize this enough. If you think you need more guidance during your weightloss journey, I wouldn't suggest a quick flight to Mexico to have the surgery completed, where you have little to no support program. In my specific experience, I knew I couldn't take a trip to have a surgery performed outside of the country, and I have a need to understand and check in with someone throughout a process to make sure I'm on the right track or if I needed to tweak my food handling/habits. Luckily, there is a medical clinic in Washington state (part of one of the bigger hospital services in the state), that offers a specialized program for GBS with dedicated ARNP's and a live chat program to ask questions during your progress. As an added benefit, the surgeon who performed my surgery does it all robotically, which means no gasses blown into the body, which eliminated all the horror stories I heard from friends who had the surgery before me, complaining of the gas pain during immediate post-op recovery. This particular surgeon has won numerous awards for his usage of robotics in surgery, specifically relating to Gastric Sleeve and RNY surgeries. The research is half the battle of getting the right help (it also helps that my clinic did NOT require specific food to purchase. Suggestions were given so that we could tailor it to our budget and regular lifestyle so it would be easier to maintain). 3. Talk it over with people you trust. I couldn't have done this alone. In fact, I had been dreaming of doing this for years, but was always dismissed and told to just try harder by medical professionals (see 1.), as well as by family members. Had I still been living closer to my parents, this never would have happened (for me), and I'd still be dreaming of weighing less than what I was 12 years ago - I now weigh 40lbs less than in 2011 - before I left a toxic relationship (another story for another day). My current friends and my hubby have been very supportive in all I've accomplished throughout this process. 4. Expect the unexpected. If you decide to do this surgery (regardless if it's RNY or Gastric Sleeve) you're going to have a variety of unexpected things happen: You're going to feel colder due to the loss of fat/insulation. You're going to be both elated and frustrated by the way clothes fit and how fast you're going to need things, like new undergarments. You'll lose a lot of hair. It starts about 2 1/2 months after surgery and can last 3-4 months. You're going to have body dysmorphia to some degree during your progress. You're going to garner attention - possibly more than you're used to or comfortable with. Managing that additional attention is a battle for those of us who are, or have become, introverted over the years. You're going to have strong hormonal changes: you may get overly emotional out of the blue. Ladies: your doctor needs to warn you that it's not uncommon to become unexpectedly pregnant soon after the surgery, so extra precautions need to be taken if you're sexually active ( "GBS Babies" are a common giggle in the offices). I still have a long road before me, but as I recently told my family: The average weight of a 5'2" person (based solely on medical charts) is approximately 131lbs. I am 5'2". I've lost one whole person so far: I've lost the person who was hurt by a toxic ex. I've lost the person afraid to sit at a party, worried I'd break furniture. I've lost the person afraid to even leave the house. I've lost the person embarrassed for simply existing. I'm tasting the beginnings of freedom from my own body, and it's better than any decadent sweet, or seconds at a buffet. And I want more of it. |
