How Much Do You Know About The Value Of Art Or Summer Classes For Kids?
Art appreciation, creation, and understanding are crucial for young children's development. Young children can learn innovation, critical thinking, and visual learning skills through art education. These skills remain throughout a child's life and can help them succeed more at work. To find out more about how Art Adventures views art education, schedule a tour. There are numerous ways to deliver art lessons. They can also be taught online through homeschooling programs.

Children Who Participate In Art Programs Grow Up To Be Successful Adults

Children enjoy getting their hands messy with paint, but there are many more advantages to art or summer classes for kids than just creating beautiful artwork. Numerous studies now demonstrate that kids who regularly engage in creative pursuits, like painting and drawing classes, improve their problem-solving, risk-taking, visual understanding, inventiveness, and communication abilities. These are crucial life skills that help kids develop into happy, healthy adults.

Your child's Happiness And Self-Esteem Will Rise Thanks To Art

Most importantly, psychologists claim that encouraging kids to express themselves creatively teaches them how to make important decisions throughout their lives and helps them gain a sense of confidence.

Motor Skills Are Improved Through Art Education

Fine-tuned motor skills are facilitated by artistic movements and methods. It takes particular focus and steady hand movements to swirl a paintbrush, color within fine lines, and erase minute details in a drawing. Children can improve their motor skills while creating art in a playful and interesting environment. They gain more dexterity by cutting out and drawing shapes. A child's dexterity develops along with their handwriting, ability to draw more intricate lines, and accuracy of their drawings and paintings. Even toddlers can use a smartphone or tablet, indicating that children are absorbing visual information even before they can read. This data is made up of cues obtained from images or three-dimensional objects in digital media, books, and television.

Myth That Must Be Dispelled

In most nations, schools are reducing their art curriculum for the wrong reasons. Why should "more important" subjects like math and science take the place of the arts? Studies have recently shown that taking art classes can help students perform better academically. It is important to dispel the notion that art is an indulgence. According to scientific research, artistic endeavours and creative exploration help children develop their brains, emotional intelligence, and social skills. If that isn't enough proof that kids need art, research demonstrates that regular art class attendance improves a child's academic performance, life skills (which translate into more successful lives later in life), and self-esteem.

School curriculums in North America have shifted heavily in recent years toward common core subjects like reading and math, but what about the arts? Although some may consider art education to be a luxury, simple creative activities are essential for child development. It might be more crucial than ever for the development of the next generation of children to learn how to create and appreciate aesthetics.

2023.06.09 08:14 mr_loose_cannon The uncanny valley of social interaction

I think I met myself yesterday. Or at least maybe the part that others experience when I am down.
A new consultant at work. I try to be social with him, as one does. He is polite but doesn't really meet my gaze, and when he does, I feel a rather strong discomfort I personally haven't experienced before. His gaze is, objectively speaking, neutral. But there is something else, something underlying. Uncanny valley territory.
I am a rather sensitive person who easily cries when others cry, laughs when others laugh. But this was something else, something new to me, and actually a bit scary.
I wonder if this is how others perceive us when we feel bad. That would actually explain a lot. Is this why we have the same instinct as any other mammal that feels terrible, we hide from the pack?
I have often wondered what is the difference between me and my best friend. We have always said the same things, but were treated differently. He has the social aura of a golden retriever. He is happy to meet others and wags his tail. I am cool and polite. Or at least I have felt that way, but it may not be the truth. Am I in the uncanny valley without knowing it?
Is this a projection from me or am I on to something? It would be nice to hear what you think.

Perth Mint and the convicted killer
Justin Parker, the founder of Golden Valley, leaves a Port Moresby prison on bail in 2016. Despite his conviction for manslaughter, he retains full ownership of the company. The Perth Mint, owned by the West Australian government, is buying up to $200 million of ‘‘conflict gold’’ annually from a convicted killer in Papua New Guinea, a breach of its global accreditation and internal policies. An investigation by The Australian Financial Review can reveal the historic Mint has repeatedly ignored staff concerns around purchases from smallscale gold miners in PNG, a practice heavily criticised for using child labour, degrading the environment through the use of mercury, and promoting conflict.
Chaired by former Rio Tinto chief executive Sam Walsh and backed by a state government guarantee, the Mint is the largest refiner of newly mined gold in the world and in February said it was at the ‘‘forefront of setting the highest possible ethical standards’’. But insiders, speaking on the condition they remain anonymous, said the Mint is paying little more than lip service to this pledge by dealing with the PNG firm, Golden Valley. It is owned by Justin Parker, who was convicted of manslaughter in August 2017 and sentenced to 13 years’ jail after beating his helicopter mechanic to death. He was released on parole last year.
Despite Mr Parker’s conviction, he has retained full ownership of Golden Valley and it remains a large supplier to the Mint, despite internal reservations. When a Mint employee asked a delegation of senior managers from Golden Valley how they dealt with competition in PNG, a representative said: ‘‘It’s easy, a gun to the back of the head.’’
Luke van Boehm, the managing director of Golden Valley, denied a comment like this was ever made by anyone at the company. But he said the Perth Mint had never conducted an audit on its supply chain, conceded mercury was often used by those it purchased gold from and that children were involved in mining with their families. ‘‘In a country like PNG, all the family gets involved,’’ he said during a phone interview.
He said Mr Parker was no longer a director of Golden Valley, but continued to have some input into its operations. Ciaran O’Faircheallaigh from Griffith University, who has studied smallscale gold mining in PNG and cited Golden Valley in his research, said the Mint could never claim its gold was ethically sourced.
‘‘They [the Mint] would have no idea where the gold came from. They would not have a clue,’’ he said. Both Mr O’Faircheallaigh and Mr van Boehm said small-scale gold mining provided muchneeded income at the village level in PNG and entire communities often depended on it for their livelihood. Mr van Boehm said efforts were being made to phase out the use of mercury. ‘‘We are trying to encourage the use of other chemicals,’’ he said. The Mint insiders said buying from Mr Parker was highly profitable, as the margin from Golden Valley was 10 times higher compared to other corporate customers such as Newcrest or Lihir Gold.
‘‘Golden Valley is happy to take a cheaper price because the gold is being washed through a government-backed institution,’’ one insider said. ‘‘They know if someone did proper due diligence then maybe the metal would not be accepted.’’ Mr van Boehm said he was not aware of this discount and denied his gold would be rejected by other refiners.
The Mint insiders said in previous years Golden Valley had sold up to 50,000 ounces to the Mint, worth $137 million at today’s prices. They said this had increased to around 80,000 ounces last year or $200 million at current prices. Richard Hayes, chief executive of the Mint, said it could not comment on individual customers but was acutely aware of the ‘‘complex issues’’ associated with small-scale gold mining in developing countries. He said five of the Mint’s largest PNG customers, who bought from smallscale miners, were subject to audits as the country was rated as a ‘‘medium risk’’. ‘‘All of our customers have been granted and currently hold export licences from the Bank of PNG and due diligence documentation accompanies all shipments from the nation,’’ Mr Hayes said in a statement. Like the consumer backlash over ‘‘blood diamonds’’ which forced buyers and cutters to be more accountable at the end of last century, the gold industry has sought to stamp out ‘‘conflict gold’’ and ensure the integrity of its supply chains in recent years. This is part of a broader push by companies and government bodies to ensure they meet their environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) responsibilities. In the gold sector the move towards ethical sourcing has been led by the world’s largest gold exchange, the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), which traces its roots to 1750 and the East India Company. The LBMA is loosely regulated by the Bank of England. Under the LBMA’s responsible sourcing policy refiners like the Perth Mint commit to not buying gold which promotes conflict, human rights abuses, including childlabour, and issustainably sourced.
‘‘Failure to adhere to the LBMA’s Responsible Sourcing Programme will result in the removal of the refiner from the Good Delivery Lists,’’ said the LBMA’s chief technical officer, Nick Harby, in a video explaining the policy. In a February press release the Perth Mint said it had ‘‘long been at the forefront of setting the highest possible ethical standards across all its operations’’. In launching an ethical supply chain solution, Mr Hayes talked about ‘‘child labour and other,
abhorrent practices’’ and how this contrasted with ‘‘ethically sourced [gold] from mines in Australia and the United States’’. He made no mention of the Perth Mint’s purchases of alluvial gold from PNG, of which Golden Valley is among the largest buyers. Nor did he mention that these small miners frequently use child labour and often remove impurities through the use of mercury, which is banned in Australia. ‘‘The use of mercury causes serious environmental and health problems. It is unambiguously awful,’’ said Professor O’Faircheallaigh from Griffith University. In addition, he said, silt from the gold mining often had an adverse effect on food suppliers and water quality downstream due to increased levels of sediment in rivers.
Professor O’Faircheallaigh said the Mint could never say with any confidence that the metal it buys from Golden Valley was ethically sourced. ‘‘Some of it may be [ethically sourced] but equally there would be a high proportion where mercury was used,’’ he said. A 2016 report co-authored by Professor O’Faircheallaigh also identified Golden Valley as a supplier of mercury. ‘‘Dealing in bulk mercury can be remarkably lucrative,’’ the report said, noting the likes of Golden Valley could expect a 10-fold mark-up. Mr van Boehm said the company did sell some mercury, but had sought to educate miners on its correct use to avoid the worst side effects of the chemical. These include physical and mental disabilities in children and compromised development, according to an article published in the European academic journal, Chemistry. ‘‘The health effects on the miners are dire, with inhaled mercury leading to neurological damage,’’ it said. ‘‘The communities near these mines are also affected due to mercury contamination of water and soil and subsequent accumulation in food staples, such as fish.’’
Another researcher who asked to remain anonymous due to fear of reprisals said small-scale gold mining had a highly negative impact on remote villages in the PNG highlands. The researcher said when gold was discovered children were often taken out of school and there was an influx of outsiders. ‘‘Suddenly there are guns in the village, along with conflict and crime which had previously not existed,’’ the person said. ‘‘It is definitely not ethically sourced gold.’’
Typically, gold from these villages would make its way down to a regional centre, where an aggregator like Golden Valley would purchase it. From here it would be flown by helicopter down to Port Moresby and then onto Perth.

2023.06.09 05:35 UnholyDemigod I roleplayed my last Rome 2 game. Here is the story

Rome 2 - Divide et Impera mod roleplay run
The year is 475 Ab urbe condita, and Res publica Romana is the growing power on the Italian peninsula. Not 10 years after the end of the Samnite Wars, we at still engaged with the Etruscans to our north, while Epirus at our south tests our resolve by encroaching on our borders. We must deal with these outsiders if we are to achieve our destiny. There is a dream that is Rome. It shall be realised.
476 AUC: Legio II Equestris, under command of newly appointed Legatus Lucius Julius Libo, finalises defeat of Etrutria. Shortly after, Pyrrhus of Epirus, after years of minor border skirmishes in southern Italia, invades and occupies as far inland as Cosentia. Legio II is redeployed to assist Legio I Italia. 478 AUC: after several battles ending in Roman victory, Pyrrhus is expelled from Italia. Despite heavy losses from the campaign, Legio II completes conquest of southern Italia 479 AUC: the Senate orders Legio II to northern Italy, to subdue the tribes in Cisalpine Gaul and to bring them into the Republic 480 AUC: cautious of Rome's rapidly growing role as a Mediterranean superpower, Carthage breaks diplomatic treaties and declares war on Rome. The Punic War has begun. Legio I is tasked with defending southern Italia. Legio III Gemina raised with intention of crossing Mare Tyrrhenum and invading Corsica et Sardinia 482 AUC: after far more losses than were expected, the tribes of the Po Valley have been subdued. All the land from the Alps to the sea now fall under Roman rule. Lucius Julius Libo and Legio II will occupy the area until it is assured there is no threat of rebellion 484 AUC: in the wake of years spent fighting Carthage, our military training and equipment has evolved. We have utilised tactics from our current and former enemies, while improving our strengths and casting aside our weaknesses. Years of war has turned us into a master of violence, and we will visit this violence upon all who would threaten Rome 485 AUC: years spent besieging the port of Karalis has borne fruit - the city is now ours, and with it, the province of Corsica et Sardinia. With Legio I and Legio II in Sikelia driving out the Carthaginian forces, Mare Tyrrhenum lies solely under Roman control. In 5 years of war we have driven Carthage out of Mare Nostrum and back to Africa. Plans are already being drawn up to invade 486 AUC: our invasion of Africa has paid off. Legio I Italica immediately marched onto Qart Hadasht, to strike at their power base and cut the head from the snake. After making camp in order to lay siege, the city's defenders sallied out and attacked. Despite devastating losses, we were victorious. The survivors retreated behind the city walls, but Legio II soon arrived to reinforce the siege, and our men stormed the walls. What warriors were left were no match, and the City of Carthage is ours. Legio III will soon make landfall to push west. Legio IV Minervia has been raised in Roma, where they will make for Massalia, to visit revenge for their betrayal of us during the siege of Medhlan 487 AUC: Legio IV Minervia has successfully besieged Massalia. After successive field battles, Gnaeus Cornelius Scipio marched on the city walls and began construction of siege equipment. Massalian allies attempted to aid them, but they too were defeated, following by the occupation of the city. Let all who know, to betray Rome is to condemn your civilisation 488 AUC: the province of Africa has been fully conquered by Legio II Equestris. The lands that brought Carthage their immense wealth will now swell our coffers instead. Despite the conquest being his doing, the Senate has appointed a Junian governor, instead of a fellow Julian. Suspecting bribery, Lucius Julius Libo begins to lose faith in the Republic he serves 490 AUC: Lucius Julius Libo has given up command of Legio II Equestris and returned to Roma. Petitioning the Senate to allow him to raise a new legion for the purpose of invasion of Gaul was met with success. The politicians of Rome are now so corrupt that an unjustified war can easily be put into motion. All it took was the lie that the Gauls bordering our new lands in Massalia were hostile, and that the lands to the north were fertile and rich with resources. The senate is too blind to see that with every battle won, Libo's influence in Roman politics grows 492 AUC: a Gallic tribe calling themselves the Arverni have attacked some of our scouts, and announced their intention to rid their forests of our presence. It seems that Libo's persuasions to the Senate were not without truth. A little more more leaning about the dangers of the Gauls uniting against, and the Senate has named him Dictator until the Arverni are dealt with. Lucius Julius Libo is now the most powerful man in Rome 493 AUC: Libo dispatches loyal senators to the African provinces under the guise of resolving financial troubles, while in reality, shifting loyalty from the Senate to himself. He already had the loyalty of the soldiers, now he is aiming for the people. 494 AUC: Carthage has been expelled from the African continent, after a successful siege of Tingis by Legio III Gemina. Upon arrival of the news in Rome, Lucius Julius Libo was recalled to Rome from Gaul to relinquish his powers as dictator. Despite the Gallic War still ongoing, the Senate was growing uneasy at Libo’s rapidly growing popularity, and used a weakened Carthage as justification to end his tenure. 495 AUC: Lucius Julius Libo returned to Roma, and was met with crowds of people, protesting against the demands of the Senate. In his service to Rome, Libo had saved the Republic numerous times, and Rome was still facing external threats. The crowd proclaimed Libo to be imperator, an act only previously done by a commander’s legion, but it was enough. The Senate agreed to grant him imperium perpetuum in return for relinquishing his role as dictator, to which Libo agreed. This everlasting power would grant him the ability to overrule the Senate with vetos, even consuls, and as such, historians consider this to be the first day of the Roman Empire. For the first time in 250 years, Rome was ruled by one man - Lucius Julius Libo Imperator. 497 AUC: Since the day Libo Imperator was granted everlasting imperium, he had taken great strides to improve the overall morale of the citizens of Rome by organising games and granting grain doles to the poorer members of society. Attending Senate meetings, he made sure to veto every bill that was put through without his prior knowledge. He prevented a list of enemies by compromising on many issues and joining their vote on bills he supported. He gained significant public support by making promises to rid the Republic (as the people of Rome still believed it to be) of political corruption, and then by delivering on this promise in steps, by exposing guilty senators. The size of the Senate began to shrink as he put through bills under the justification that that smaller it was, the less corruption there could be. Within 2 years it went from 370 senators to less than 100. His power continued to grow, but the people were happy. 498 AUC: Legio II Equestris, now under command of Gnaeus Julius Agrippa, has captured the last remaining stronghold of the Edetani, the final ally of the Carthaginians. With nobody to assist them, the end of the war is on the horizon. In capturing the city, the eastern coast of Iberia is entirely ours, completely enveloping the coastline of the western half of Mare Nostrum. Libo Imperator has grown bolder in his power, now requiring all bills passed to be finalised with his seal, and the words Imperium Romanum 499 AUC: with our legions pushed to their breaking point, and replacement recruits becoming more difficult to come by, Libo Imperator initiates a series of reforms, aimed at swelling the numbers with ease by removing the property requirements to join. Now, all who hold Roman citizenship will be eligible to serve her. With the state also supplying equipment, there is now uniformity amongst the legions. Gone are the old classifications, and replaced with general legionaries. Already we are seeing a large surge in recruitment across the Roman world, primarily from the lower classes looking for their chance at glory. 500 AUC: after 20 long years, the Punic War is over. Legio I besieged the city of Kartuba, awaiting reinforcements from Legio III, but the Carthaginians sallied out in an attempt to prevent being surrounded. After a decisive defeat in the field, there was no standing force left to defend to city, and our forces swept through, enslaving what civilians weren’t dead by the end of the day. As news of the victory spreads throughout Rome, a wave of nationalism follows it, with the people wanting to continue the expansion of our borders. Any nation that isn’t Rome is a potential enemy, and the senate, under the demands of Libo Imperator, fans the flames of this idea. Rome is about to embark of a series of conquests not seen since Alexander. Lucius Cornelius Scipio has been appointed commander of the Iberian forces, with the Legatus of each legion reporting to him. Quintus Trebellius Strabo will lead the conquest of Gaul, while Libo Imperator himself will take several legions into Germania. 502 AUC: Legio V Rapax sails across Mare Adriaticum to make landfall in Apollonia. Decades have passed since we pushed Epirus out of Italia, but inability to bring the war to them forced a peace between us. A peace that is now over. After many battles, Cornelius Scipio has conquered Iberia in its entirety. Rome now stretches all the way to Mare Tenebrosum. Upon their return to Rome, Scipio and his fellow Legates will be honoured with a Triumph. 503 AUC: Epirus is destroyed, their pitiful excuse for a kingdom overrun by Roman sword. Legio V Rapax will oversee the Latinisation of the local government, then move east, to bring the Greeks into our territory. 504 AUC: Athenai has taken offence to our presence in Greece and has captured Apollonia, seemingly hoping to cut us off from invading further into their homeland. It will not work. Julius Agrippa, well rested after his group Triumph, will sail his legion across Mare Adriaticum to assist Legio V. In Gaul, a final battle on the banks of the Rhine marked the pacification of the region. Gaul is ours. The legions will rest, then move onto Germania. 505 AUC: Julius Agrippa, keen to retake Apollonia, failed to scout the surrounding lands before moving onto the town, and was caught by an enormous Athenian army. Luckily, Legio V arrived in time. The largest battle in Rome’s history was fought on the outskirts of the town, and although we were victorious, thousands of Romans paid the price. Junius Brutus has made landfall with Legio II Equestris to assist the conquest of Greece. 506 AUC: Libo Imperator has ordered our legions out of Germania. Although we have subdued many of the tribes there, the longer we stay, the more nature takes its toll. We have now lost more men to the cold than to the enemy. A summer in Germania is only slightly warmer than a winter in Italia. Trade agreements with the bordering tribes, while being of little value to us, will ensure a secure border. The legions are to move to Dacia, and bring civilisation to the barbarians within. The Spartans, long past their glory, and not stupid enough to mistake the intent of our legions marching through their lands, have bent the knee before they even pointed a spear. We agreed, on the terms they would join our war against Athenai. 507 AUC: with Sparta capturing the city of Athens, and Legio II Equestris taking Pella, Greece has been conquered. To the north, Thrake and Dacia are now both ours. Rome now stretches from Oceanus to Pontus Euxinus. Over the last 30 years, Lucius Julius Libo Imperator has risen from Legatus to sole ruler of Imperium Romanum, and grown our empire to half the size of that of Alexander’s. With little to conquer without sailing to Asia, he has elected to end his conquests and focus on administering the empire he has grown. Roma Invicta.

2023.06.09 05:25 JoshAsdvgi THE RETURNED FROM SPIRIT LAND

THE RETURNED FROM SPIRIT LAND

THE RETURNED FROM SPIRIT LAND
The wife of a young man who had recently married, died, and he was very sad.
His father was a chief, and both he and the parents of the girl were still living.
The young couple had been married for so short a time that they had no children.
The night that his wife died the young man remained awake all night unable to sleep, and the second night it was the same.
Next morning he thought that he would walk out, but finally concluded to wait until after his wife's body had been buried.
The body was taken away late that afternoon, and early next morning he put on his leggings and his other fine clothes and started off.
He walked all day and all night.
Daylight dawned upon him still walking.
After going through the woods for a long distance he came to a very large valley.
There had been a creek there which was now dried up.
Then he heard voices, which sounded as though they were a long way off.
Where he was traveling the trees were very thick.
Finally the youth saw light through the trees and presently came out on a wide, flat stone lying on the edge of a lake.
All this time he had been walking in the death road.
On the other side of this lake there were houses and people were moving around there.
So he shouted out to them, "Come over and get me," but they did not seem to hear him. Upon the lake a little canoe was going about with one man in it, and all about it was grassy. It looked very nice.
After the man had shouted for a long time without receiving any response and had become tired, he finally whispered to himself, "Why is it that they do not hear me?"
Immediately a person on the opposite side of the lake said, "Somebody is shouting."
When he whispered, they heard him.
"A person has come up (dâq â'wagut) from dreamland," the voice continued.
"Let some one go out and bring him over."
They carried him across, and, as soon as he got there, he saw his wife.
He saw that she had been crying, and he raised his hands and looked at her.
He was very happy to see her once again.
Finally the people asked him to sit down in the house, and, when he did so, they began to give him something to eat.
He felt hungry, but his wife said, "Don't eat that.
If you eat that you will never get back.
" So he did not eat it.
After that his wife said to him, "You better not stay here long.
Let us go right away.
So they were taken back in the same canoe.
It is called Ghost's-canoe (S!î'gî-qâ'wu-yâ'gu), and is the only one on that lake.
And they landed on the flat rock where he had first stood calling.
It is called Ghost's-rock (S!î'gî-qâ'wu-tê'yi), and is at the very end of the trail.
Then they started down the road in which he had gone up.
It took them the same length of time to descend it, and the second night they reached the youth's house.
Then the young man made his wife stay outside and he went in and said to his father, "I have brought my wife back." "Well," said his father, "why don't you bring her in?" they laid down a nice mat with fur robes on top of it at the place where they were to sit.
Then the young man went out to get his wife.
When the door opened to let them in, however, the people in the house saw him only.
But finally, when he came close, they saw a deep shadow following him.
He told his wife to sit down, and, when she did so, they put a marten-skin robe upon her, which hung about the shadow just as though it were a person sitting there.
When she ate they saw only her arms and the spoon moving up and down but not the shadow of her hands.
It looked strange to the people.
After that the young couple always went about together.
Wherever the young man went the shadow could be seen following him.
He would not go into the bedroom at the rear of the house, but ordered them to prepare a bed just where they were sitting.
Then they did so, for they were very glad to have him back.
During the day the woman was very quiet, but all night long the two could be heard playing. At that time the people could hear her voice very plainly.
The young man's father at first felt strange in his son's presence, but after a while he would joke with his daughter-in-law, saying, "You better get up now after having kept people awake all night playing."
Then they could hear the shadow laugh, and recognized that it was the dead woman's voice. To what the chief said the woman's brothers-in-law would add,
"Yes, get her out, for she has kept us awake."
The nephew of the father of this girl had been in love with her before she died, although she did not care for him, and he was jealous when he found that her husband had brought her back.
One night she was telling her husband that she was going to show herself as she used to be and not like a shadow and that she was going to remain so permanently.
Her father's nephew had covered himself up at the head of the bed and heard everything. Her husband was very glad to hear this, but, while they were playing together afterward, the man who was listening to them thought that he would lift the curtain they had around them.
The moment that he did so, however, the people in the house heard a rattling of bones. That instant the woman's husband died, and the ghosts of both of them went back to Ghost Land.

2023.06.09 04:39 ZedzBread Looking For Witnesses/Dashcam Footage

Looking for a dashcam footage of a dmbss on grey SUV who pushed me right into oncoming highway 80 traffic today around 3:44PM while she was "merging" out of Maley offramp driving towards the Valley. I switched to the fast lane way ahead to let all the folks coming from Maley merge in & she got into the slow lane almost parallel to me & just kept going as if I wasn't even there.
No turning signals, no mirror checks, no shoulder checks. To avoid collision, I was forced to move onto the oncoming traffic until I was finally able to get behind her.
When she finally moved to the slow lane, I lined up with her & opened my window to tell her that she almost killed me & she just looked at me like I'm some sort of psychopath.
My entire body is still shaking & I was way too shook to even remember the plate or make/model of the vehicle (you're so lucky - I would've called you in as soon as I parked).
This person needs her license revoked ASAP, as she is an absolute danger to other drivers & whoever accompanies her in her vehicle.
Please DM me if you've witnessed the situation, I will sincerely appreciate all the help I can get here. Getting my dashcam back on ASAP. I can't believe people like this are even allowed to drive.

Naked bodies lay together
Gathered like rain
Your bed formed a puddle
Let the thunder roll over
On this precipice
Beauty overcoming insecurity
Spinning so high
The water over flows
For what it was
I was so happy
There was no singularity
Two people in a storm
Love is precipitation
I wanted to be lost
Rolling over valleys
Don’t care who sees
Let it all come down
Tattoo our disaster
Where pain kissed
Awash in a moment
Finally a sun emerged
Dried up the rain
Dark clouds dissipated
I know the answer
Took again a human form
Rationality grew as fingers formed
I did this so you wanted me to let go
It still hurts and I’m to blame
But I don’t ever
I don’t ever
Want to let go
This storm
This thunder
This rain

2023.06.09 02:26 panickydumboo {21-F} Looking for gaming friends!

(PC/Nintendo Switch/ PS4/Xbox one) Hello!! I'm looking to make some friends to play games with! I'm usually found playing Mario games or acnh on my switch, or on my PC playing things like sims 4, Stardew valley, house flipper, minecraft etc. Though, I also own a PS4 and Xbox one ! I'm very happy to play games more out of my comfort zone and try them !! I like all kinds of games and watch a lot of gameplay/playthroughs more than I play myself 🤣 I am horrible at things like shooter games and other types but I still enjoy playing them ! I've recently noticed I've kept my peace and quiet to myself (and bf) for too long and wanna make some fun gamer friends to get to know so if that interests you pls feel free to msg me!! :) I'm a pretty open book and very shy at first but I open up the more we talk :)
Have a beautiful day ✨

2023.06.09 01:45 HasuPanda83 PIMI Mama Drama

Had a fight with my very PIMI mom. Long story short, my POMO cousin passed away a few years ago, and because her ex/father of most of her kids was an abusive A-hole of the highest caliber, my mom ended up with custody of 2 of the 5 kids. The two youngest went to their father who is a wonderful human (and never JW, thank goodness), and the oldest ended up going to live with a family friend because thankfully she had learned enough from her mom to get the hell away from that religion. Well, the oldest, who I love to absolute pieces and have since she was but a sonogram on my cubicle wall, now identifies as queer and has a trans boyfriend. She's had a rough few years after losing her mom, and I'm just happy that she is with people who love her and take care of her. As you can imagine, the PIMI family is less than thrilled, and uses her other siblings to try to get to her. She recently stood up for herself much more directly and the whole PIMI family is acting like victims, like she was SO MEAN.
I swear it never ends. My mother didn't speak to me for 2 or 3 years after I left even though I faded enough to not be DF'd. She only started again because my POMI(ish) dad died and I was a mess. But we have spats here and there when she won't respect my boundaries with the religion. And now that I'm close to the oldest of my cousin's kids, I've caught my mom in lies, seen her be crappy to the oldest and her trans boyfriend, and she thinks she's justified. I'm so tired. I'm not sure why I'm trying to keep this relationship with my mom going. I love her. She's my mother. And to be fair, she was a really great mom. But I've been through everything with her. Shunning. Emotional blackmail. You name it. I WILL NOT let her do that to my cousin's kid. I can't do much about the younger ones. They will have to make their own decisions once they're old enough. I've always said that I will never try to sway them, I will just love them no matter what.
But every time we have a spat she tries to justify everything with "you know we don't have a choice" and then gets mad at me when I "make everything about religion". EVERYONE has a choice.
I guess I'm doing the only thing I can do. I'm not letting it continue with me. 3rd gen on one side, 4th on the other, and this shit ends with me. I choose to be a better human. Even if it's me and the oldest against them all, I think we're still better off.

2023.06.09 01:35 doMinationp Forge Update Overview Season 4

Copied from https://www.halowaypoint.com/news/forge-update-overview-season4
Header Image [Imgur]
Forge will be getting a slew of new updates when Season 4: Infection lands on June 20. Ranging from placeable water to beautiful new Forerunner objects and brand-new mode logic, Forge’s ability to create new experiences is only getting better. These additions, along with some quality-of-life updates and bug fixes, mean there’s never been a better time to start building.
There’s a lot to cover with this update, so let’s dive right into it!

New Objects

Static Water Plane

For the first time in Halo's history, Forge will be receiving a placeable and scalable water object. This static water plane, which is meant to help Forgers art up their creations, will provide an entirely new way to add detail and character to every map.

Beyond Season 4, we plan on continuing to expand Forge’s water objects with a dynamic volume as well.

Forerunner Object Palette Additions

The visually stunning Forerunner object palette will be getting even more pieces with Season 4. A plethora of new objects and decals - of varying shapes and use cases - will be available for Forgers to use however they see fit. Whether you want to build structures that would reflect the power of the Forerunner ecumene at its peak or create fun-filled custom games, these beautiful objects will now be in your hands in short order.

Universal Blocker Object

We currently have very specific types of blocker objects such as Player Blockers, Projectile Blockers, Vehicle Blockers, One Way Blockers, and Team Blockers in Halo Infinite. While this granularity has been extremely valuable, players have had to use multiple blocker objects to smooth out surfaces or add containment on their maps. With Season 4, we’ll be adding a new set of Universal Blockers which will block Players, Vehicles, and Projectiles. This new object type should help speed up a map’s polish phase while also reducing the budget overhead in those situations.

MINIGAME MODE

Minigame, a brand-new game mode in Halo Infinite, will allow creators to build modes from scratch. Much like Halo 5's Minigame mode, this mode contains no underlying game logic and gives Forgers complete control of making the mode they desire.
Along with Minigame’s release, we are excited to be introducing Generic Game Mode Objects to Forge. These objects are decoupled from any mode logic, meaning players will be able to place and script experiences without being tied to a particular mode. Want to capture a hill in a CTF game? Want to gain vampire traits whenever you hit someone with an Oddball in a Slayer match? Want to score points for hurling a ball through an Area Monitor in Last Spartan Standing? We've got you covered.
The three objects you'll have access to in Season 4 are:
  • Generic Capture Zone
  • Generic Skull
  • Generic Ball

To complement the new mode and Forge objects, scripting via Node Graph will receive a few quality-of-life nodes to make common scripting tasks a little easier. Many of these nodes were requested by members of the Forge community and we were happy to get them included with the launch of Minigame.
In addition to the ~25 nodes associated with the Generic Game Mode objects, here are the new quality of life nodes being added to Node Graph:
  • “Get Object By Label” - Make Object Lists without using Object References
  • “Get Is Game Mode” - Run logic only in certain game modes
  • “Increment Number Variable” – An easier way to Get, Add, and Set advanced number variables
  • “Toggle Boolean Variable” – An easer way to Get, Branch, and Set advanced boolean variables
  • “Boolean NOT” - Negate a boolean variable. By popular demand.
  • “Global Custom Event, Async” – Run custom events asynchronously
  • “Stopwatch” nodes – the ability to create, start, pause, and reset timers from any point in script. Stopwatches will be able to trigger other scripts based on how much time has elapsed.

All of these additions combined mean that when Season 4 launches, Forge will be able to build entirely new modes that combine multiple mode objectives into a single cohesive and entirely unique experience.

Budget Improvements

We’ve also heard the community feedback about wanting to have the various aspects of a map’s budget communicated effectively. We want to ensure creators can take full advantage of each system’s budget, understand it more clearly, and ultimately maximize Forge’s potential.
A screenshot of updated Forge Budget UI. [Imgur]
As seen in the image above, the new budget categories will be broken down as follows:

Global Simulation

  • The overall cost of entities networked by the game, including dynamic objects, projectiles, units, actions, etc.
  • Dev Note: Some global systems like Audio, Stats, and Player Networking will reserve simulation memory when the game starts so they always have bandwidth regardless of what's happening on the map.

Forge Simulation

  • The overall cost of Forge specific entities, including dynamic and static objects, prefabs, user strings, Node Graph elements, etc.

Object Limits

  • Dynamic
  • Total
  • Vehicles
  • FX Count
  • Reflection Volumes
  • Movers
    • Dev Note: These are specially marked objects that animate/move before all other objects and can have specialized physics interactions with players. Mover objects will be added to Forge in a future update.
  • Animations
  • Physics
  • Collision
  • Static
  • Total

Node Graph

  • Total: The total % of Node Graph content currently contributing to Simulation Memory.

Scripting Budget

  • Each script brain has limits on how many nodes and node connections it can contain. (128 Nodes, 512 connections)

Run Time Budget

The Run Time Budget, shown in Forge Play mode, will switch to showing the runtime budget that is the fullest at any given moment. When runtime budgets are exceeded, the engine stops creating more instances of that type of entity.
Run Time Budget Categories:
  • Navpoints
  • Objectives
  • Managed Objects (objects spawned during play but not part of the map, like weapons, equipment, grenades, etc.)

VFX Improvements

As hinted at in our recent Spartan Chatter episode with Forge Lead Designer, Michael Schorr, the VFX system will also see improvements.
In Season 4, VFX objects—such as placeable fires and explosions—will be able to be scaled to your desired size. These VFX objects are also getting two high-requested toggles to help ensure Forgers can use them in various ways. The new Damage and Audio output options for these VFX objects mean that they don’t always need to deal damage or play sound effects, that can now be determined directly by the map maker themselves.

Quality of Life Updates

We’ve also been working hard to bring additional quality of life (QoL) updates to your existing workflows. One update that will help players art up their maps even faster is that material changes will now affect all objects within a prefab. Previously, only the parent of the prefab would have its material changed, but now this bulk change should help convert a prefab into the desired look even faster.
Another QoL improvement is tied to the asset management side of Forge. Now, when saving a new version of a Forge map in the pause menu, players will be able to add a custom note for that version. This is extremely helpful for documenting changes made during a Forge session, especially when looking at a map’s version history. We expect this to help with personal projects as well as larger group efforts that have multiple collaborators.
Beyond these core additions, improvements, and quality of life updates though, there will also be many bug fixes coming with Season 4. Issues reported to the team via the Halo Support site are shared directly with the Forge team and prioritized based on severity and frequency. If you run into any issues, be sure to submit a ticket so that the team can investigate appropriately.
The full list of bug fixes will be provided in our Season 4 Patch Notes, which will be found at aka.ms/HaloInfiniteUpdate, when the update goes live on June 20.
Thank you for your continued support and constructive feedback on all things Forge. Please do not stop sharing your feature requests and bug reports (and everything in between) with us. We built this tool for you, and we want to make sure it’s something you can enjoy—whether you’re Forging or playing experiences created in Forge.
We’re excited to place all of these new and improved Forge tools in your hands shortly and we look forward to seeing what you can create in Season 4 on June 20.

2023.06.09 01:04 FederalLand1194 Who do you wish for DLC

For me i want season 2 to be the forbidden door season with more then 2 wrestlers in every pack so a pack with wrestlers arenas and belts from. NJPW ROH CMLL AAA Impact
Then season 3 give us just some people that aren’t in the game like Swerve strickland house of black etc. also in a patch before season 3 6 man matches and the new womens title international title and trios tag title.
Then season 4 give us new PPV’s the new show sets and Collision plus 4/5 wrestlers.
Then in season 5 release another NJPW and ROH pack with the wrestlers left out from the original.
After this just give us some people who where signed after the game came out and i’d be happy. (Also Tony Kahn as a playable character)

2023.06.08 23:32 Valor_Kish Binged AHS in 10 days - my rankings with explanations

Hello! I'm the same person who made this post and ever since then I have spent hours binging AHS season 2 through 11. I thought I could give my two cents as a brand new fan and hopefully open an interesting discussion! :D The ranking of each season depends on several factors, such as probability of me rewatching it, how immersed I was in the story, how much I liked the characters, and stuff like that. I'll be starting from the bottom and make my way up to first place. Keep in mind I'm not trying to hate on the lowest ranked seasons, I'm just explaining how I perceived them and hopefully somebody can change my mind!
  1. Double Feature - it feels unfair to put this one at the absolute bottom because I generally liked Red Tide a lot, I enjoyed seeing Lily Rabe and Finn Wittrock playing the protagonists and their daughter was a pretty ok (slightly antagonistic?) character. I also enjoyed Evan Peters as Austin Summers, just a funky dude. Unfortunately, the complete mess that was Death Valley brings this down to last place. I may be biased because I don't like aliens/UFOs/space-themed things, but the second part just felt so out of place and cluttered. The whole alien pregnancy thing just felt gross to watch, to me. Death Valley was incredibly boring and I didn't understand much of the black&white parts of the episodes. If it wasn't for Death Valley, I'd probably rank this season on place 7.
  2. Hotel - it was very difficult for me to get through this season. I very much enjoyed James Patrick March and The Countess as characters, but besides them I didn't have a lot of interest in the rest. I didn't really enjoy John Lowe as the protagonist (I'm also not familiar with the actor) and at the end I didn't get what the message was. It felt a bit out of place that this season played out in modern times, I think I would've enjoyed it more if it were the fifties or something like that. I also cringed a bit hearing the Swedish girls talk (I am Swedish), but I guess that's just a personal thing... I'm surprised they survived until the end though (unless my memory betrays me), but honestly that was an interesting detail. I think people here have mixed opinions of Hotel, I usually see it falling somewhere in the bottom-middle of rankings... James March was entertaining to watch and I found him pretty funny, but I think he was the only character that made it worthwhile for me to continue watching.
  3. NYC - to my knowledge, this season is all about the AIDS epidemic and the history of homosexuals in USA... which was interesting and insightful to watch! The last two episodes were a bit of a bore for me, but I found the rest of the episodes pretty good. I read somewhere that Big Daddy was supposedly a symbol of AIDS/HIV(?) which I think was creative. Honestly though, I almost solely watched this season for Zachary Quinto, lol, and I think he was great! With Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, and Lily Rabe missing I didn't find this season as interesting as the older ones, but in general I think this season highlighted the struggles of LGBTQ people during that time period in the US pretty well. Though it's not a subject I'm passionate about, it made me more knowledgeable. I was happy to see Patti LuPone and Joe Mantello as I had previously seen both of them in the show "Hollywood"!
  4. Apocalypse - like many others have said, this season kind of feels like a Coven 2. I was very happy to see the witches returning and I think them fighting the Antichrist was entertaining, as well as seeing his backstory explained (plus bringing back Jessica as Constance). The first few episodes were a bit slow, but ultimately it was fun watching the witches battle the (male) witches for the place of the Supreme. Besides that, I didn't think this season was that remarkable, and I think it would've been justified as a part two of Coven instead of a stand-alone season. I think this season got my hopes up because of its name (I like apocalypse-themed movies, like 2012, World War Z, Greenland...), so that's why it takes eighth place.
  5. Roanoke - it was definitely different seeing the "show within a show" turn the directors decided to take, and I think it was well-executed! The story was relatively easy to follow, and I think Kathy Bates played an excellent role. Short as his screen time might be, I liked Evan Peters' performance as Edward Mott (it was interesting to see a character related to Dandy Mott also!). This season definitely felt a bit more raw and scary, and I generally enjoyed it a bunch. The reason it's not higher on the list is because I wasn't really used to the "show within a show" concept and I didn't find any characters particularly extraordinary, but it was a fun season and I liked it nonetheless.
  6. 1984 - just like Roanoke, the storyline was easy to follow and I liked seeing Emma Roberts this time around as well. While I think it was good, I couldn't go in-depth about it because it felt a bit... light compared to other seasons? Maybe because it only had 9 episodes, but it didn't give me enough time to really become interested in the characters and wanting to know their backstory. It was kind of a feel-good season for me because I just love the 80s and its whole aesthetic (+music and fashion), and so I didn't focus a whole lot on the plot. I did enjoy the ending though and in my opinion it is one of the best season endings in AHS (always happy to see Finn Wittrock returning). I can imagine rewatching it, this time paying a bit more attention to the details rather than the aesthetics.
  7. Coven - so, prior to even watching AHS, I had heard and seen a lot of Coven. Supposedly many people say it's one of the most iconic seasons. In general, I like witches and spells, and I think the casting this season was perfect. The reason this one falls a bit low though, is because of the treatment of Kyle by Zoe and Madison. The fact they built the perfect body for him, then resurrecting him, then bringing him to his abusive mother was so unbeliavably cruel. It's not like Kyle returned to his old self once he came back to life, he was aggressive and confused and had to be taught basic things like a lab rat and he was treated like an object, more or less. It was saddening to see and I honestly don't appreciate the direction they decided to go with his character. I think if Kyle had ended up not getting into the bus and getting killed (instead discovering the witches on his own and being part of their company) it would've been way more interesting! So yeah, I miss pre-death Kyle. It was also a bit confusing for me to understand the plot and some of its witchy concepts, but for that reason I might also rewatch this one. However, I cannot explain how much I loved Fiona and the Axeman - I am obsessed with them and I don't know what the general consensus of this "ship" is, but Danny Huston and Jessica Lange's chemistry together is amazing, which is why I was happy to see him starring in Freak Show as well! I also found Delphine and Queenie's interactions hilarious, and was happy to see they ended up being friends despite their different... views. Generally, it's fun seeing a character from like the 1700s travel to modern time and having to get used to what's happening now.
  8. Cult - I've seen many people here saying they don't like Cult because it's too political, which is understandable, but as somebody who enjoys politics (and is non-American!) this season was incredibly insightful for me. I got an image of how the US in 2016 might've looked, both for politicians and citizens. Kai Anderson was a bit of an infuriating character since he reminded me of chronically online redpilled incels, but I think he was a good antagonist and Evan played him perfectly. I was happy to see Winter not taking the same direction as her brother politically, instead standing her ground and holding her own beliefs whilst also having a kind of wholesome bond with him. I think Ally could get a bit annoying at times with all of her phobias, but ultimately I don't really dislike her. I enjoyed this season lots actually, even though I don't tend to prefer seasons being played out in modern time.
  9. Murder House - like many here have said, this is the season that made most people watch AHS, and so I think it deserves appreciation for that alone. While I think Ben and Vivien seemed a bit underdeveloped, I enjoyed Evan's first role as Tate, as well as Taissa Farmiga as Violet. I'm not the type to "ship" Tate and Violet, but I did find their interactions interesting because of their different personalities. Initially I didn't pay a lot of attention to Jessica Lange as Constance, but in hindsight I can say she played a vital role. I found the feud between Constance and Moira funny at times, and I also enjoyed Jamie Brewer's performance when she played Adelaide! I did find Hayden pretty irritating though. Besides that, this is an entertaining season and I have no bigger issues with it... was also happy to see Zach here, lol.
  10. Freak Show - I like the concept of horror circuses and scary clowns, so this was an easy season for me to digest. I know quite a few people don't like Jessica Lange's singing performances this season, but I honestly think she killed the cover of "Gods and Monsters". Seeing Pepper's backstory was sad, but it was also interesting seeing why she had ended up at Briarcliff. It was pretty fun seeing Michael Chiklis (Dell Toledo) since I had previously seen him playing in the show Gotham, and as always nice to see Danny Huston. I know a lot of people here also don't like Dandy Mott, but honestly, I think Finn Wittrock KILLED this role. He wasn't your typical villain, he was a rich, spoiled, man-child who kept throwing tantrums and I found that so funny. I also enjoyed Frances Conroy's performance as Dandy's mother Gloria. I was surprised to see Neil Patrick Harris in this season, but he played his role pretty good and I think he made the later episodes a bit more interesting. I think the highlight of this season is definitely Dandy Mott, he was hilarious and appeared super annoying but also had a very dark personality... and his mother trying to defend him, lmao. Also was fun seeing Twisty return in Cult! Great season all around, honestly.
1.Asylum - you know it... this is a masterpiece, in my opinion. This season, I was interested in pretty much everybody's backstory (Sister Jude, Sister Mary Eunice, Dr Arden, the Monsignor, Grace, Kit, Thredson...). This season actually disturbed me a lot (Lana essentially being taken captive at this insane asylum for being a lesbian, Jessica Lange's spooky performance as a devout nun...), and don't even get me started on Shelley's mutilation. I like shows/movies centered around insane asylums generally, so it wasn't difficult for me to get hooked. I just think the casting was on point, the storyline was cohesive but it also made me think and speculate... I was relieved to see Lana killing her son in the end, honestly, and I think the last episodes wrapped this season up well. If I were to say something a little less good about this season though, it's that the whole alien-concept felt a little out of place (then again I'm biased, so I'm not really mad about that), and also the fact that Oliver Thredson's mommy issues felt a bit... fetishistic at times? which made me cringe and skip some scenes, but I mean, I guess disturbing was the goal? And y'all already know I like Zach... who killed this role yet again. Great performances from everybody. Heartwarming seeing Kit and Jude's relationship when Jude got out of the asylum. The perfect, number one season for me.
Okay, phew. That was a bit long which I apologise for... and please excuse my repeated usage of the words "interesting" "fun" "easy", I'm a bit tired right now, ha. I hope people will change my mind about Hotel because I really do want to enjoy that particular season more. Again, I don't mean to hate or bash any seasons, I'm just giving my opinion as a brand new watcher and fan. I'm sure some older fans on here can help me understand the appeal of the lower-ranked seasons! Not sure if I should proceed to watch American Horror Stories... if it's any good, I just might.
Thanks for reading this messy ramble and reviews, I wish y'all a great day!

2023.06.08 23:13 rufusmaru ISO an Accountability Buddy

Hello anyone!
I am looking for an accountability buddy (or buddies).
It has *finally* come to my attention that I, in fact, am not reliable for at-home-working. I have been working at home for a while, but now that my full schedule is online, I am in severe need of accountability.
I am looking for a buddy or small group of buddies (because optimistically biased always) who want/would benefit from the following:
About me:
I am a graduate student, working on my phd (woo but also whoa who let me get this far without executive control?), so my "work" is about 50% research/writing/reading, 40% "work work" (whatever I am assigned that gives me my living stipend through my program), and 10% classwork. Currently, my "work work" is entirely online, making me 100% online until the fall. This is obviously a problem lol.
Some actual fun stuff about me: I am queer (happy pride month everyone), have three pets (2 cats, 1 dog), I like tattoos and have some, and my hobbies include various art projects I rarely finish and questioning my careeeducation decisions (this is a joke but also is actually how I spend a decent amount of time so..). I really enjoy games of the board and video varieties, though I tend not to play much except stardew valley rn (which, imo, would make a great "fun" meetup). I currently live alone, which isn't ideal because I am also in a newish city (moved during COVID) and don't have a ton of friends or even peers.
Other info that could be relevant:

Thanks anyone who even glanced at this post, as I know it's a fucking wall-full lol. I hope there is another at-home-ADHDer who could use this still, other than me. If it sounds like something you'd like to do, even if there's something you're hesitant about, let me know! It's all just words right now, we can adjust whatever we need to.

2023.06.08 22:00 whynosauce13 Would love to make some friends!

Hey! I’m 24m from the east coast US. I’m about to have a long week of work ahead of me so it’d be cool to find someone to make those days suck less.
I’m into video games like Stardew Valley, Borderlands, and Overwatch just to name a few. I love rock and metal music such as Ghost, Ice Nine Kills, Pantera, Starset, etc. I could go on forever. I just got a new tattoo and if they weren’t so expensive I’d have many more. Lastly I’m very open about having mental health issues so if you’re someone who also struggles I will always try to be open minded and nonjudgmental.
Message me if you think we could vibe and happy pride month!
