2023.06.09 04:49 1here2hear Dip Rankings Update?
I searched and found a post from a year ago so maybe it’s time for an update. I’m old to TJ but new to their dips. Honestly, I’m new to appreciating cold dips. I always hated everything about Dip Life: the endless reaching (with whatever was on your fingertip and trying to get the correct amount of the targeted dip), the communal nature (I’m pretty sure I developed RBF as a child watching adults engage in dipping, double-dipping, cross dipping). You get the picture. And yes, I have internally always been an a-hole over many universally beloved things, even as a child. Or maybe just the first part of that sentence.
I digress.
I’m privately in The Life now. As I type this, to my left are four dips: pimiento cheese, tzatziki, garlic whip, and caramelized onion. Those are not the correct or precise names but they’re sitting on top of their lids and I don’t feel like or I’m too lazy…
I do remember that that none of them are the vegan options. The order in which they’re listed is my ranking. Finally, I am eating all four dips with Cazo de Oro Sea Salt Kettle Style Corn Tortilla Chips because I only recently tried them and they are awesome on their own! Thick, crunchy, hearty!

2023.06.08 22:42 Loves_grumps Small unbuttered popcorn 670 calories 🤡
Theatre popcorn. Damn. I knew it was bad but I didn’t know it was that bad. The cinema didn’t have nutritional info on the website. But a non-profit had an article about how they tested the popcorn from that and 2 other chain theatres…
If I got the small buttered popcorn it’s 800 calories. Cry mercy people, that’s pure insanity in a tub! Half my daily budget! It’s ELEVEN cups of popcorn, popped with coconut oil. The medium and large size are both TWENTY CUPS. THEY ARE OVER 1,200 calories. Hot damn if I’m gonna blow my whole daily budget I’m not doing it on crappy popcorn that’s gonna be stuck in my teeth for the next day. I’ll go eat an entire family serving of tiramisu. Or a giant bowl of quac and tortilla chips. Sheesh.

2023.06.08 21:38 Penetrative Quest to find a No Math way of Eating.
I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is that I want. I was hoping I could get an assist from the group here.
Im very familiar with counting calories, its pretty much the only thing that has every worked for me.
But I can't quite put my finger on why I don't want to do it any more. I guess im just so over it, burned out. I've got hundreds & hundreds of memorized calorie counts in my head. Its to the point where if calories are brought up in just about any capacity I can regurgitate how many calories are in it atleast ball park if not exactly.
My coworker walked in with a chicken strip basket from DQ & said something like, "this can't be good for me" and I was like, "Ooof, ya thats like 1300 calories."...I hate myself for this. I don't even hear food names in my brain. Someone would be like, "You want a banana?" & I hear, "You want a 100 calories?"...Then if I don't know it, I WANT to know it. Ill be at a friends house & maybe taking a mental break from counting calories, im eating some chips or whatever & Ill think, "I wonder if these chips have a similar calorie count as the tortilla chips I like or if they are more? Was it 130 for 12 chips, or was it for 18 chips? I should have never changed brands, im getting all mixed up."...
My point is when I feel burnt out & want to take a break from calorie counting...I still cant...my memory kicks in & I can't seem to shut it off. So I think, well, im still not weighing things or starring at the label & asking Alexa a bunch of math problems & conversions so its still like taking a rest. But what's happening is that I still feel like im counting calories & just doing a poor job of it. Resulting in nearly the same amount of mental effort with way less results.
I want to try something else for a while.
I just don't know what.
Im against eliminating food groups. I used to do Paleo, Atkins & Keto & was even a Vegetarian way back in the day...none of that fits my lifestyle. I need to be able to eat whatever I want, but in moderation. Its much easier for me to eat less of something than its is to deny myself it entirely.
In my quest to find an alternative to counting calories...the only thing that keeps popping up is Weight Watchers. I have recently been clobbered with their newest advertising as well. I searched for WW posts on this sub & read a few that were mostly not supportive of it. Soooo....any suggestions for me?

2023.06.08 21:05 fluor1de "diet and fitness foods" outside of the US
i absolutely do NOT want to live in the US for a number of reasons but y'all US citizens who can afford those products are so SO lucky when it comes to diet and « fitness » foods 😭😭
y’all have so many options when it comes to 0 calories sweeteners, sugar free / high protein foods and low calorie versions of foods that are traditionally high-cal. i wish i could go the supermarket abd find allulose, sugar free caramel syrup, low calorie tortillas and fibre one brownies but i CAN’T and i’m sick of it😭 i wish my nearby supermarkets had more options for low calorie snacks😔
