Good morning rise and grinders.
The water is finally rising and the walls are closing in. Being in the VAR game I thought I was safe from the impending bloodbath of tech layoffs. Unfortunately that is not the case.
I’ve been at my current role for 8 months. Love my company, not toxic, realistic expectations and interviewed on about an expected ramp time of 1.5 years. We do pretty good work too.
Our last quarterly meeting everything looked great, rising revenues, solid cash reserves, felt pretty safe as others in tech and SaaS here started sounding the layoff alarm.
Looks like it’s here too, although CDW just took a massive cut a few months ago.
2 on my team were let go seemingly out of nowhere. 2 more were just put on PIP. That leaves 4 of us on this team not officially hung out to dry. To my knowledge, all of those reps were pretty solid.
On my 1 on 1 this week, my manager (who I do really like) kind of had a somber tone. Our meeting went well and had plenty of developments to report on. I’ve secured some new clients albeit very small orders closed so far, but with some decent opportunities for Q3 and Q4. Before we ended the 1 on 1, manager dropped “we really like you and I personally like the work you’ve been doing breaking in to these accounts and establishing the relationship, however at your tenure we need more quoting activity or you might not work here anymore.”
Great, and out of left field as before this I’ve only been told I’m doing better than expected. Swear I was jinxed, as 4 of my largest opportunities fell through this week after our meeting. I still have some stuff going on, but that was 80% of my number of the 1.5 year ramp gone in 3 days. Prospects seem to be tightening the belt, which is not good given my situation.
Needless to say I’m stressing, had a long stretch of unemployment (1 year and completely my own fault) before starting this role. Now it looks like it might be another bump in the road. Waiting for the inevitable paid interview practice plan before I start applying.
Currently doubling my activity metrics to see what I can pull out of my prospect list, and sending some blind quotes with a meeting request to get something going.
It’s been asked 1000 times, and since I’m normally giving it its weird, but could use advice and encouragement to get through this. Roast me as well if you want. I have once attended an annual blood donation drive, organized by the local Sone gathering. This was inspired after SNSD's Love request show, and it has been extremely meaningful since. Mind you, the process itself was painful, the the feeling of being weak and tired for the rest of the week was a pain to bear in the modern stresses of my country. But all of that was meaningful; It was donated in the name of the one and only Kim Taeyeon. We even received a plaque that congratulates Kim Taeyeon of donating some 7 litres of blood for lifesaving.
It is hard to understand the feelings now held by the Koreans. Most have placed a large part of their lives into this, and for most of the masters of fansites, leaving SNSD is not an option. It is not farfetched to go beyond saying SNSD would not be here today without these Koreans. The dejectedness arises when this was leaked. It was prime evidence secret accounts exist. For all we know, SNSD have secret twitter accounts too. This would have been innocent, until Taeyeon started to upload cryptic images and hidden mushy nicknames for each other publicly. This would not have been a problem, if they kept it in their secret SNS, but surely Taeyeon would not be as silly as to post it publicly? Well, she did. Logically speculating why she would do something like comes up with 2 possibilities. One where she doesn't have, or wishes to be at the inconvenience of switching accounts everytime they wish to communicate. This is highly unlikely, as an class A idol, it would be highly unlike she would take such a risk as to keep her password always logged in, and kakao or Line would have better facilitated such needs. or, In the 2nd possibility, she enjoys the thrills of posting such messages, and having safely hinted time and time again of their relationship. Psychologist know all about this, and part of the adrenalin rush from death defying roller coaster rides. people are known to do this, well in roller coaster rides, who is to say Taeyeon isn't doing the same.
Regardless which situation lead her to do something like that, It is important to realize that nobody likes to be trapped between 2 lovers, and i can assure you its not a good feeling reading what is not meant for you, worse, interpreted as for you, but not. Some did not know this until the very end, which by then, was anger and sadness. Imagine sending something to Taeyeon, something you designed yourself, sweat and effort all put into having your idol appreciate it. She receives, and captions it with a ambiguous message. You accept its a response to your work, but finds out after some time that it isn't, instead for someone else, intentionally. You'd feel bitter too.
There were also posts regarding if TaeBaek was just a conspiracy to mislead people away from the Kris/yifan scandal. It would seem true, as Taeyeon is know to be a really smart leader. An open-roofed car, making out? Again, only 3 possibilities, That it is a conspiracy, where SM intentionally allowed the photographers to make a clear shot. or, Taeyeon isn't smart, and in the mist of hormones and lack of proper air conditioning, decided to open the roof. The last possibility i had difficulty grappling with; it puts doubt on everything Taeyeon's character and what she has claimed to be so far, that is that Taeyeon that is smart but has seem to have abandoned all willingness to hide their relationship and alongside the fate of SNSD.
Now ask yourself, is there anything SM is so afraid, such as to invent such madness to turn the eyes of silly netizens into forgetting Kris's scandals? Is Taeyeon stupid as to blatantly tell the world she is dating and risk the backlash?

You read that right. And I’ve had shingles before on my shoulder that led to permanent nerve damage so I’m well aware of what the onset of it feels like. Last night the left side, upper part of my face started tingling/shooting pains and by the morning it was much worse, so much so that I did go to urgent care to get put on anti virals.
My ex and I have been broken up for about 5 months after a 3 year relationship. We broke up briefly about 2 years in, right around when I thought we would be moving in together. First heartbreak. He still talked to me ALL THE TIME. And of course I talked to him too, wanting to get back together. He ended up moving into a new apartment and I gave him practically all of the stuff we had been purchasing together for the previous 2 years and helped him move in. Sucked. Then his father passed away and he went into a downward spiral into alcoholism for I’m not kidding, a year. Like he stopped working and drank 24/7. He had a couple breaks of sobriety and we did get back together. Part of me thinks we did though because I was practically the only one in his life trying to help him as he slowly lost all of his friends and his family lived an hour away. I dealt with so much that year with him, trying everything possible to just keep him alive and help him find a way to stop. Eventually he went to rehab and got out of that apartment. His mom broke his lease and realized he cannot live alone. I supported him through 5 months of rehab, emotionally and financially.
Now during this time I ended up relapsing myself. Just not as bad. I caved and drank with him a couple times and that got me started. I would drink at night occasionally but it didn’t really effect my life. Until he went to rehab. Nearing his last month and a half of rehab he started growing distant, harder to get ahold of and the entire time not going on any passes wanting to see me, claiming he didn’t do the work required to leave the campus. My drinking got bad as I was insecure about our relationship. I decided that I needed to take a leave of absence from work and deal with my own issue. So I went to rehab.
When I got to rehab he practically ghosted me, it was even harder to get ahold of him. I almost stopped talking to him completely. Which was so weird because we never even had a conversation about being over or what the hell was going on. He made me feel like I was bothering him so I left him alone, feeling miserable. Towards the end of that rehab we finally talked and he told me while he loved me, he was sorry that he just didn’t want to be with me, heartbreak number two.
Needless to say that rehab didn’t work out. I went back to work only to keep drinking, except I stopped talking to him finally. Two months later I decided I was ready to go to rehab again and do it for myself and really try, and stay for 4 months instead of 1. About two weeks into my stay I had a terrible conversation with my parents and ended up calling him. He was happy to hear from me, told me I should have called sooner and was happy to be my contact for my phone calls. I was nervous about this, opening to door of contact but I did call him about often during my first 30 days when I couldn’t have a phone.
When I got my phone back I reached out to him only to go back to basically what he was doing to me last time I was in rehab, super slow to respond. I stopped trying and stopped texting him. Then about a month later he randomly called me. It was a weird 30 minute conversation about random stuff, he was overly happy and I could tell he was drinking. I didn’t want to accuse him so I didn’t say anything. Then I didn’t hear from him.
About a week later I hear from staff that worked weekends at another rehab that he was back in rehab. I was happy he was safe. Now about a week after that idk WHY I didn’t realize it sooner but I realized that a tech that worked at my rehab was one of the 14 friends that my ex has on Instagram. It’s just kinda a catfish photo and I kept forgetting her name when I saw her so I didn’t put two and two together. He follows her back and she ALSO follows his old profile that he doesn’t even use anymore. She only follows 21 people. They also follow each other on tiktok. I soon found out that they were in rehab together when he was in rehab for 5 months and she got at job at the rehab afterwards. I also found out from a client who was back in with ME but was AlSO with them that she had a crush on him but he never showed interest in her at the time. I know they didn’t follow each other until I went to rehab the second time though, so after we had been broken up for a couple months.
Now I did mention how this upset me to another tech and I was then told by head staff that I was not allowed to talk to other staff… about staff. So basically I have to deal with her running some of the classes I’m in. They did tell me that they weren’t going to tell her about my curiosity about the situation though. Which thank god because the following day his mom reached out to me and tells me the reason he relapsed was because his sister died from an overdose. So I didn’t need him getting out of rehab and hearing any drama. I just dropped it. Blocked her on social media so I wouldn’t have to see it and tried my best to focus on myself again.
Well, a couple days ago he got out of rehab and I guess the first thing he wanted to do was call me. He calls me and we have a good hour long conversation about what has been going on. I find out his mom is letting him take over his dead sisters lease, which absolutely worries me considering last time he was alone in an apartment he almost died. He goes on to tell me there is no excuse for how he hasn’t been talking to me more or been there for me more regardless of his situation and he was sorry about everything. Over all it was a good conversation, even though it left me worried for him. We talked about how I was doing and idk it was super nice to talk to him that way again. He thanked me for answering his call. I said “of course I’m always here to talk.”
That was 4 days ago. Part of me wants to reach out to him and see how he is doing, part of me thinks that would be codependent. But I’m constantly looking at my phone hoping he will reach out to me so we can talk. I DONT KNOW WHY I still want to be with him. I miss him so much. I miss how well he knows me and how easy it is to talk to him. I hate that I haven’t seen him in so long. And most of all im hella paranoid that since he isn’t talking me he is talking to this tech I see all the time instead and it breaks my heart. To note she is 5 years younger than him, has only 9 months sober herself, I don’t think she’s that pretty but that’s besides the point, I’ve been nothing but nice to her even though I really hate and feel super uncomfortable being around her. I hate that I can’t tell staff that it makes me uncomfortable. I’m worried that if I even do tell staff and it gets back to her, she will tell my ex and that will make things even worse. I keep telling myself to not make assumptions but it’s hard.
So here I am, trying to fix myself, I really want to get it right this time and yet this enormous road block is in my way because my heart hurts and I feel confused. I guess I’m just looking for words of support on how to navigate this or pull through for myself, I’m CLEARLY stressed AF because now I’m dealing with this illness. What can I do? It felt as though not just one, but two zeros had been added to the tag. "EVERYBODY FREEZE!", boomed the leader of the group. "If you comply, no harm will befall you!"
His comrades surged forward, herding everyone inside the store toward the exit.
"We received a tip that a despicable Demi-Human would be present in this store at this precise moment. If you possess any shred of decency, I would advise surrendering and not making things harder for yourselves.", The soldier in command asserted.
In the background, Raphael caught a nearly inaudible sigh. Turning his gaze toward the source, he spotted what appeared to be a young boy, his face hidden beneath a deeply pulled hood, clutching a piece of bread.
"We know who you are.", proclaimed the leader, slowly advancing toward the frightened individuals. "We had hoped to give you a chance, but it seems you won't take it."
The leader now stood directly in front of Raphael, peering into his eyes. This soldier, clean-shaven with scars etched across his face, cast a cunning grin and then forcefully placed his hand on Raphael's shoulder, eliciting a resounding thud. The Elf couldn't help but flinch, fearing that his disguise had been uncovered. He suppressed his urge to rub his fingers along his ears, it would have revealed himself.
"Look at what you're causing—scaring these precious people. You should have surrendered when we asked politely, shouldn't you, Michael?", the soldier taunted, turning his head toward the hooded boy.
In a split second, the boy hurled the bread at the soldier, attempting to make a desperate escape. His hood slipped off in the process, revealing skin completely adorned in glossy black scales. Yet, before he could take more than a few hurried steps, another soldier lunged at the young Demi-Human, causing him to tumble and emit a cry of agony.
"Let me go! I haven't done anything wrong! Sssomebody sssave me, pleassse!", shrieked the boy in a high-pitched voice, his youthful plea for freedom echoing through the store.
As the boy spoke, his long, slender tongue flicked out from his mouth, snake-like in its movement. His gaze fixated on the leader of the soldiers, revealing eyes that were a vibrant shade of yellow, almost luminous, with a dark slit running through them. Raphael couldn't help but notice the uncanny resemblance this Demi-Human bore to a snake, yet the glowing intensity in his eyes unsettled him. It felt unnatural, too otherworldly. Briefly, he pondered whether he looked similar when he unleashed his own magic, but his train of thought veered off track as the leader approached the boy, stepping right beside him.

Recently I made the jump to Klipper. I have had success with it, everything is correctly configured and I can print with it no problem.
Yesterday I printed a mounting piece for my accelerometer, so I could calibrate Input Shaping.
All went well, I could get some values and I was ready for testing. When starting a print, it fails with an out of range move: !! Move out of range: -0.012 -9.012 10.000 [0.000]
This happens right after the printer finishes the G28, home all axis command, and the printhead is in the middle of the bed. Naturally after homing, it tries to go back to the home position, which in my case is 0,-9. Interestingly, on both axis, it subtracts 0.012, and makes the move invalid since it is out of range. Figured it was input shaping, and sure enough, when I comment out the set input shaping parameters in the printer.cfg file, the problem goes away.
Any ideas on what I could do? Is there a way to temporarly disable input shaping while homing so this does not happen, or am I doing something competely wrong?
